Omg now my absolutely favorite books Twilight and New Moon can help me with my SAT and ACT scores. So, those thousands of descriptions of Eddypoo and Bella Sue can be of much help with expanding my vocabulary. So, it is a package in two a good read and a study guide!! biggrin // Obvious Sarcasm

Anyways, while I was searching for some help with my summer AP Lit + Comp essay on The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck I came across the following link: DefiningTwilight & DefiningNew-Moon.

Well being a bit curious on what they meant I went to the link and well I about laughed my head off. This guy that wrote the books has written other SAT books before, but this one tops them all. They also give a sample chapter link, so I went to that and read through some of them as well and again I got a good laugh.

So, let's discuss! ^-^ And I hope you all get a good laugh as well.

Oh, God... you scared me for a minute.

WTF is this? Anyone can take a random crapload of words they oversearched in the thesaurus and look up the meaning. That's... just... terrible.

I'd rather have the Poe SAT study book, thanks.
In seventh grade, I used a trashy teenage romance novel to study for SAT. It sucked so bad I couldn't finish it, and I still scored above average for High School Juniors.
Funny how that works, isn't it?

But, There isn't any complicated vocabulary!
Wait, What, Huh?
I did better on the SATs by reading the dictionary. And IT made more sense than Twilight.

I did learn some new words from it, but then in English we all were forced to learn 200 SAT Prep words, and every word from Twilight basically was in there. (SMeyer reuses words way too much.)

*facepalm*

EDIT: I looked at the "speshul" sneak preview/pdf file.

Noble is on as one of the vocab words.
Noble. Who doesn't know noble?

More easy ones: sauntered, omnipresent, exiled, detested, erratic, verbose, translucent, pallid...

D:

These words were never on the SAT or ACT I can tell you that...

So pathetic.

Screw that. 2110 on practice SATs WITHOUT reading Twilight.

I've got a pretty good vocabulary, so my mom brought home an SAT vocabulary thing to test me.

One of the words was Ingenious....
Oh, yeah!
That's a hard word that I learned in first grade
It had other words that were "advanced" like,
Austere, Miserly, Nullify, and Gaunt....

Oy Vey.... rolleyes

I hated the SAT's, and in all honesty did *not* want to take them. I feel rather bad for my mom, who wasted a hundred bucks on one of those SAT all-in-one prep/ study books- you know, with the maths, vocabulary, etc all combined. I never even took the plastic off it, but it did make a nice door prop. I took the SAT's once; I scored above average on English/ reading, but waayy below average in math.

I know, I only find this beyond hilarious because the only reason Meyer has a vivid vocabulary because she basically had a thesaurus sitting right next to her. Obviously reading Twilight made no difference in my scores. surprised

The words in Twilight though, are so simple! I already knew all the words that she used, but none of those were on the SAT. razz So it is total BS.
