I was ecstatic when I heared the movie was out. So I watched the trailer and right Aang lifted his hood up I was like, "Aang is white??"
I looked up the cast, and all the lead roles/good guys are white!! And why is the fire nation/bad guys cast Indian??!
That's messed up. Is the producer trying to tell us something?? >.>
Anyone else pissed about this?? I mean, I thought Aang would be some little Chinese kid. And I thought Sokka and Katara would be Native American or Filipino or something!
PS. I'm not racist.

Late on the fury, love. Lol.
And main cast? It's like...Sokka and Katara. Yeah, it's weird. But whatever. I love Jackson as Sokka. I think he'll be great.
And.....Come on. Seriously? Aang looks white >< Hands down. Maybe mix. But he looks damn white.
As for the fire nation....Well. Once you pick your main guy and he's Indian, you can't quite make his parents and uncle white or east asian now can you?
And tbh, with the amount of Native American/First Nation/Etc. actors there are out there, chances are you'd get the entirety of the Water Tribe being the wolf pack from Twilight. And I'm sure everyone would be pissed about that. Though I would love to see Kalani Queypo somewhere in the mix ^_~
And if you want to see who else is pissed read through the movie thread~

I saw the trailer in theaters, I thought he looked pretty Chinese. Besides do I have to mention the fact that Aang, more so than any of the other characters actually DOES look white?

I wasn't as upset about the characters as much as when I heard that Zuko was going to be Indian and Sokka and Katara were going to be Caucasian. If anyone's gonna be Indian, it should be Sokka and Katara. Hollywood needs to get past their issue against Asians [=_=] Not that I don't like the actors and actresses they chose...it's just insulting how anti-Asian this film is.

I think it's insulting that every time something doesn't happens that you don't care for, it's a racial problem.
I thought it was racist that in the movie Gran Torino the Mung were played by Asians rather than Mexicans. Also, the black guys weren't Asian.

. . . Alright. Maybe I really don't get the big 'racism' issue because I'm white. And I don't really think about racial stereotypes until they're pointed out. . . But come on.
Anyone who thinks that a movie based off of a childrens cartoon is promoting racism and 'putting the (insert ethnicity/skin color/whatsohaveyou here) man down' needs to take some prozac and sit the **** down.
I hardly think they were thinking about it when they hired actors that can act.
And as for the picture on that site. The Hero/hero/hero/enemy thing..... They are not trying to make Indians out to be bad.
1. Zuko turns good. 2. M. Night is INDIAN FOR ****S SAKE. 3. Does NO ONE remember Iroh? Really? Because I thought he was a pretty epic hero back in the days of the animation. Maybe they changed the character for the movie! Suspense and drama for the fans! . . . Oh noes gais. An Indian Hero. What ever will the anti Asian movie do????? 4. Weren't we all up in arms when the 'enemy' was going to be white? Do we need Jesse back? Seriously.

While people are taking this way to seriously, I honestly can't just believe that the whole thing is completely innocent. Also this video is relevant: racial tensions in games Obviously it's about video games, but underneath it still makes a good point, especially about the white default thing.
