Jaella sat up slowly in her bed, rubbing her eyes. Hm.....what was that sound? She could have sworn she heard... There it was a gain. A small, weak little whimper coming from outside in the garden. Jaella's purple-fur lined ears twitched, blue eyes blinking. The teen slipped out of bed, straightening her blue nightshirt before going to the window. Who on Gaia could possible be out at the god-forsaken hour of the night? Were they hurt? Were they lost? She saw something small and red move outside, accompanied by another tiny heart-wrenching cry.
The amethyst haired teen moved quietly down the hallway, careful not to awake the sleeping Azoulai twins as she slipped outside. She giggled, slightly distracted by the cool, tickling feeling of dew-covered grass brushing against her bare feet. The rustling near by reminded her why she was out here, helping her focus again. "Hello?" she called out, only to be answered by the typical sounds of night; cicadas and crickets chirping their songs to the moon and the yelling of the couple down the street who were arguing again. And a sniffle.
She walked over slowly to Mother's rhododendron bushes, following the pitiful little sounds. She carefully moved away the lush, emerald green leaved branches away with her tan, slender hands, revealing a small person. The girl appeared to be a child, judging by her size. Wide eyes regarded the older girl with fear, and the little red daisy recoiled.
"Hey, hey, it's okay...." Jaella said, reaching out to gently brush a petal out of the little one's eyes. "I'm not going to hurt you..." But someone else already had. The girl's arms and legs were badly cut up, her petals rumpled and bruised. The little one had the remnants of an address paper in her hands.
"What's your name?" Jaella asked, pulling the little girl out gently, cradling her in her arms. She was answered with tears and whimpers. That's when the teen noticed....the delicate little flower had no mouth. "I'll give you a name, then." she said, smiling. "Your name....your name will be Irena. Do you like that name?" A brief nod was issued.
"Good! Now come on; let's get you bandaged up. You can sleep in my room tonight, okay?" Jaella said, picking the little one up with little difficult; despite her size, she was awfully lightweight.
Irena nodded, closing her olive toned eyes. She was safe now....safe... The little one was asleep before they hit the back door.
