"I hope they hurry." Darcy said, sighing. "Honestly, don't people believe in punctuality anymore?" She flopped down onto a rock, crossing her arms. Someone seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed today. She crossed her legs, fiddling with one of her shoelaces.

Aaron gave an amused chuckled, trying to hide his smile behind his hand. "It isn't time, yet, Darcy. Patience is a virtue, sister dear." he said, standing to her right side. He looked up....hm, Fourth of July. He could see the sparks and hear the deep booming thunders of the fireworks in town. To be honest, he'd rather be there, watching the show. But Darcy had insisted on tonight, and it was his duty to oblige her whims.

Jaella sat on the ground near them, holding a little child in her lap, humming as she ran a brush gently through the baby's pale opera-mauve hair.

With Elisabetta hanging back in Barton with her grandmother, Gabrielle set out on this journey alone. The teenager who'd given her the letter had been very strange indeed, but normal compared to her daughter's standards. She only hoped that this wouldn't be another agency passing off children onto unwilling parents.

Her long white-blonde hair was tied into a ponytail to escape the briars. The more she climbed through the terrain, the more she began to think how shady this all was. A cave of all places? Bah! At least the last one had come to her house. Fireworks sounded off in the distance, startling her enough so she slipped. Damn it all.

Finally. She reached the cave with her coat intact, but unfortunately her mood had soured. To outer appearances she could have been a model, like the ones you see in magazines and billboards, but upon further inspection one would see she lacked sexual aspects. Just tall and so very thin.

"Explain yourselves." Gabrielle waved the letter casually as she walked up to the lip of the cave, staring at the group of teenagers around her. Dread settled in her gut when she saw the child.

The orange-haired girl looked up, offering a small smile. "We were just wondering when you'd arrive." she said, her tone sarcastically sweet. "Care to take a seat?" A sweep of the arms motioned to some of the large boulders around them.

Aaron sighed. "Thank you for arriving." he said, his tone definately more sincere than his sister's. "I apologize for calling you out on a holiday, of all days." He shifted, gauging the woman's mood as he tried to decide which direction to take this in. He was used to telling people they were pregnant...not that they were getting a surprise-kid sprung on them. "Well, ma'am....you've, ah, been selected....and, well...." That's when, as if on cue, Jaella could be heard crooning the the baby.

"Look over there! There's your new mommy!" her sing-song voice said before she started giggling.

Aaron sighed, facepalming. Ugh....why had they brought Jae along with them again. "Well...you've been selected as a guardian with the right potential needed for, ah...."

"We called you up here so you can take home a baby." Darcy offered bluntly. Honestly, why try and candy-coat it?

Gabrielle liked the orange haired girl. Liked to have punched her in the mouth. Never taking her eyes off the twins, for what else could they be?, she sat down on a flattened boulder and swung one leg over the other, hands crossing on the knee. "My appologies. I didn't know this would be a timed hike." Even said cooly, the statement had snap.

Smiling a bit, she looked at the male. Now this, she thought, was how a random stranger should act. "Today is just as good a day as any other, although I do regret not seeing the fireworks with my daughter for the first time." Yet, she wasn't really regretful. All day she'd been tugged around and she was tired of it.

She just wished they would spit it o- Oh, well. Speak of the devil.

The babe patted Jaella excitedly and tired to bury it's face in her chest, peeping out every couple of seconds with a giggle. It was definately a cutie.

"Of course you did." Gabrielle sighed, taking it all in stride. "If it's not being to blunt, may I ask what qualifications attracted me to you?"

"Goddammit, Darcy...." Aaron muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose before looking back to Gabrielle. "I apologize for my sister." he said....and by the way he said it, you could tell he was quite used to those five little words. "And I am sorry about that..." He paused, listening to her question. Darcy took it as he was done talking and decided to answer.

"We picked you at random." she said, shrugging and earning a glare from her brother.

"That may be how YOU pick out guardians, but I like to make sure they're capable of handling the children." he said, before proceeding to answer her question. "You already care and provide for another child born of unconventional means. You seem to take very good care of her, so...." He trailed off. Obviously, this wasn't anything near scientific or professional reasoning, but it made sense to him.

Jaella stood to her feet carefully, trying not to jostle the baby too much as she moved.

Gabrielle waved it off with a grin. "Darcy does mean evil, after all. It's perfectly natural for her personality to be a little tweaked." Shrugging her shoulders, she straightened up in her seat. "We all have our faults, so you shouldn't appologize for her. Mine is just as pronounced as hers; it's the fact that I couldn't give two shits about people who bring me into the woods." Looking non-chalantly down at her Italian boots, Gabrielle kicked a little pebble, her smile still in place. "I have allergies, you know." Lie.

Nodding along with them, she let herself take it all in before speaking. "I have another question for you. What do you mean by 'unconventional'?" Here she'd been hoping that maybe she had some kind of spark. It would have creeped her out to no end knowing they'd spied on her, but at least she wouldn't be feeling like someone who got the runner's up prize instead of money.

She stiffened with the purple haired young lady stood, her palms suddenly sweaty. Her brain kept telling her to look at the boy, but her body kept staring at the infant. It's little wings were fluttering, ears flipping as it gave her a closed eye smile. So...damn...cute. Her, it had to be a her, but it kind of looks like a he, mouth opened wide in a yawn. That was it. "Miss, could you come over here? I'd like to hold my new child." She tried to keep the sarcasm out of her voice and failed.

Aaron fell silent for a moment, looking very much like a little kid who'd gotten a lecture. "Well, ma'am...I mean not quite normal. Different, if you will. And it takes a special kind of person to take care of children that different, so you seemed like a prime canidate." he said, offering a small smile.

Jaella offered an bright sunshiny smile to the adult. "Sure!" she chirped, skipping over to the woman. "Here you go." she said, carefully holding the little one out to Gabrielle. Her smile looked a little sad now; she'd be sad to see cute baby go.

He was starting to get on her nerves as well. Couldn't anyone be to the point without sounding like a total scrouge? Gabrielle rolled her eyes and shifted on the boulder. Looking at the infant, she figured that she'd have some kind of fae-ish issues to deal with and that would be it. How hard could that be?

Bailey squirmed around, tucking it's legs up to its chest as it's wings fluttered madly. Little chubby hands were clutching at Jaella's, trying to back pedal it's way to her and away from the strange lady. She flat out scared it. It was like looking at moving ice.

Gabrielle smiled kindly and rose up some, her hands scooping up the infant by the bum. "Shh, shh. It's alright, I'm not going to hurt you." She leaned it up against her collarbone, one hand supporting the back and the other still underneath, tapping slightly as she swayed. Her eyes were starting to light up when she looked at Jaella. "You did a wonderful job taking care of her. She doesn't seem to want to let you go."

Jaella's smiled regained it's previously lost glow. "Thanks." she said, rubbing the back of her head. She did a good job at something other than running errands? Schweet! She thought about correcting the lady, but decided against it. After all, it made an adorable little girl! She then looked to Bailey, chuckling. "If it's alright with you, can I visit her?" she asked, grinning. Well, if they couldn't keep the adorable little fairy-elf-thing, then being able to visit would be the next best thing!

"That's perfectly fine with me, so long as you don't come in at odd night hours." Smiling, Gabrielle ran her finger's through the infants hair. She twirled a piece of it around her finger as it looked up at her. Everytime those eyes locked onto her's she melted a little more inside.

Bailey's mouth was open as it slowly rotated around the faces. The orange hairs, and his violet haired care taker. Tears were gathering in the corners of it's eyes. It didn't like new situations and this one felt like it was so much worse than anything before.

Seeing the babe's distress, Gabrielle cooed and bounced it more. "Does she have a name?"

Jaella smiled; yay! She got to visit! She then shook her head. "No....she doesn't. She hasn't been around long enough for us to really get a chance to name her." she said, looking a bit guilty. She'd loved to have given the baby a name, but apparently that was a big no-no.

Gabrielle nodded. "I didn't think that you had named her yet or someone would have said something." She looked down at Bailey who was still fussing. It was taking it's tiny hands and pushing away from Gabrielle, a silent tantrum making it squirm around and beat it's wings. It didn't like this big lady one little bit!

"Well, we'll just have to fix that once we get home." She nodded her head sagely and looked around the room at the teens. "Is there anything else you needed to tell me? Any papers that I need to sign? I'd like to get home before it gets too late."
