okay so normally I play top bass for marching band right?
and we're having a memorial day parade on monday for memorial day.
But i'm not going to be able to patcipitate in it.

So they gave some other kid MY drum just to march with for memorial day

so we had pratice two days ago after school, and I asked my band director if I had to go and he was like "yeah, we'll just switch you two out so you can both play"

so I came to pratice, and I JUST SAT THERE THE WHOLE TIME AND DID NOTHING.

I never got to play.

The next day we had early morning pratice for percussion and I asked if I had to go and he said the same thing. "we'll switch you out'
AND I STILL NEVER GOT TO PLAY

then the same day we had marching pratice after school and I was like "Mr. G, really, do I have to come to pratice"
he said the same thing and ONCE AGAIN I never played OR EVEN MARCHED.

So this morning we had pratice AGAIN ((before school like last time)) and really didn't want to go but my mom was like 'Unless he actually told you you could skip it, then you should go'
SO I WENT
AND DID NOTHING.

I mean, I have all the songs memorized already. So why should I keep showing up for pratices?

We have another one after school today. D:<
maybe he'll let me out of it.

BUT DAMN!

Hm. Perhaps he thinks the percussion section is handling the "switching out" part, so he thinks you're playing. I would keep going to practices, but talk to him sometime outside of band/practice and tell him you haven't been playing the past few practices. Let him know you want to march and play as much as possible. If he doesn't fix things, then you have a problem.

eh
I went to the practice today after school and they all started marching so I just sat around and then got some water for the other percussionist.

But then I asked him If I could go home and he was like "nah, we'll switch you out now'

So I just had to parch for like, 20 minutes

that would tick me off to no end...total sympathy from me, here
it's really not fair of them to force you to show up, but not let you practice

Why dont you bring it up during practice? Maybe he just forgets. Tell him while your rehearsing that he said you two could switch out and tell him you havent played for three days. Hell HAVE to listen!

I would be totally pissed, and take it up with a section leader... If that didn't work, I would be like "Mr. G, dude... This is totally not cool. That kid has been boggarting my drum and I like, kinda want to play. *jeeze face* So, do you think you could, I don't know... Have us switch? I think (insert your drum's name, if named here) really misses me... Doesn't she/he sound sad...? I think so. Thanks."
