Or is it just fascinating to watch other people learn Japanese? In my Japanese class, which ended last Monday, I always thought it was fun watching other students learn this language. But question I've always wanted to ask them was "Why are you learning Japanese?" Who knows, maybe it was because I knew more than any of student in that class, I find it fun watching others learn it.
Or maybe I'm just weird like that.

We did intros in my class where we did explain why we wanted to learn Japanese in the 1st place. Most of the answers had something to do w/anime.

>____< Well, learning up any language will benefit you sometime in your life. If you're in business, you open wider opportunities to earn money being able to interact with local companies in Japan. (whether they be matter of outsourcing/m&a/etc.)
You could also learn the language out of whim: just wanting to read your favorite mangas as soon as they get released. Or just so you can understand what Japanese people gossip among themselves.

I'd love to live there at least 6 months. I'm a computer geek so I'm sure my skills could potentially get me a great job there if I do get to do that.

I started learning Japanese because it is just so beautiful. I mean, just look at kanji. And, not only that, but the different kana add a whole new element to the traditional kanji. Plus, I like many of the sounds that are used in the language.
I'd love to vacation in Japan, though I don't think I could stand to live there for more than a year. I would miss Mexican food too much. surprised
I did have the pleasure to stay there two months last summer, though, and it was splendid.

Believe it or not there's actually some places in Japan that serve excellent Mexican food, or at least that's what I remember hearing about a while back. You just gotta know where to look

I can't remember the details, though. sweatdrop

I told my mom she should open a restaurant in Japan because she cooks the BEST Mexican food ever... well now that my grand ma is deceased, anyway.

Lol. I don't think it's weird.
I would love to learn japanese! I love the culture, media, technology, anime and manga... and JUST HOW COOL IT SOUNDS.
I love saying "soredakara". Does that mean "therefore"?

Will you find me a blue rose? I just finished up my fifth semester of Japanese at my high school. I'm fascinated by watching the Japanese 1 students learn. Because I know so little Japanese compared to a native speaker. And the Japanese one students work so hard and long just to memorize a line of hiragana and are so proud when they finally can remember the difference between お and あ. And now I don't even have to think about writing in hiragana or katakana. It's almost as natural as writing in English. I actually have issues writing Japanese words out in romaji (Which is bad when I come across Japanese words in other classes...). Now Kanji...that's a whole different story.
