So, my band has Festival on SATURDAY.
We're playing several songs, most of which I play second Trumpet.
TODAY, my section leaders and director decided to RESEAT the Trumpet section for one song.
The song in question is American Overature for Bands.
There's four cornet parts, and two trumpet parts.
We had two people playing the trumpet parts, and everyone else on cornet.
Well, FOUR days before freaking FESTIVAL, a few people, along with myself have to learn the ENTIRE song.
I've never played the third part for this song, and it's frustrating.

3rd trumpet= harder than first trombone parts.

Wow. That's really odd that they would wait until now to switch it up like that. You would think that they would notice the balance issue before then.

But, I guess it also shows the faith that your band director has in you. If he didn't think you were capable of it, odds are that he wouldn't have switched your parts like that. But he thinks that you can play it well enough by then that the band will sound better on that song because of this switch.
