"Back in the day," so to speak, I was a Gaiaholic. I'd get on Gaia every day, for several hours a day. I was never bored. There was always something to do.

These days, it just doesn't seem to be holding my interest. Originally, I posted in several different forums, but it gradually narrowed down to just posting in the GCD. But I was still very interested in the GCD, so I posted often. Now, most of the topics just seem boring or stupid. I don't want to read them, and I certainly don't want to post.

I get bored with the minigames.

I still love the avatar system, but I'm not sure how much longer I can keep coming back just to play dress up.

Of course, I love the GIB, but look at us. We're just not as active as we used to be. I feel like I can skip days and not miss anything.

What am I to do, guys? Is it my destiny to just lose interest in Gaia entirely?

"Destiny is a joke. And the joke, is in your hands." In plainspeak, what I mean to say is, everyone has their own reasons for being on Gaia, and utlimatly, when/if and why you sign on, are entirely up to you. God knows I've had my share of days where I don't log on or even think of gaia. Now, I'd like to say that even if only for the GiB you came every day you should try to not loose hope, (I hope that ends up making sense) in all honesty, there really just isn't that much to do here once you've had your fill of the on-site games. Whether or not the forums are any decent, even someones favorite comic strip gets boring after a while when its all the same in the ens. So, Tim, if you're feeling slightly jaded or disenchanted with gaia, do yourself a favor and take a break from it, for as long as you want, untill you feel the desire to log on again. But by all means, don't force yourself to feel obligated to visit just because of us. That being said, should you decide to take a break, we'll all miss you, and hope that you'll at least keep some of us in the loop with how you're doing, either through YIM or, if he doesn't mind terribly, via Vincente (I say that because from what I've seen, the two of you seem closer than Tim and anyone else, and though I may be wrong about assuming you two know eachother irl, I'm sure your Vice-Chief will be capable of keeping us informed of your vital status, as well as keeping things under controll within the guild. That's all just my opinion though....

I back this up fully. Everybody's feeling a little jaded at the moment. It's not uncommon for people to feel bored. Take some time, recharge your batteries, and come back when you're ready.

I agree with everything said above. Also, have you tried getting into zOMG!? Unless it's not your thing, or you have a not-so-great computer/internet, it could be just the thing you need to get you back into enjoying Gaia. And we could arrange to get together in groups and go farming and kill bosses and have a lot of fun. It would be awesome.

With everything else, I completely understand. The forums are fairly unappealing these days, the games are either glitchy/hacked or boring dull, and nothing much appears to be happening plot-wise. Personally, I come on Gaia every day (unless it's too hot IRL) to check through a couple of guilds (or just this one) and play a bit of zOMG!. Other than that, and half creating avatars that are never saved, I don't do much on Gaia. Poor Gaia...

Back on topic - don't lose interest! D:
You could try setting youself a new goal, perhaps quest for an item, and try playing the old games again. You could randomly start up conversations with people and make new friends. You could try running a quest shop or an art thread. I'd write more, but my computer is about to overheat, it's still around 32 degrees celcius here, I have to go, but good luck! Don't give up on Gaia! =D

I can definitely relate to it. Until zOMG came out, I would log in, get my daily chance, aquarium, and rally (back when they had that spinning wheel), and then leave for the next day.

Even now, after I've halfway given up on zOMG, I'm still checking every day, hours at a time. But I suspect that will subside after a time. It's only natural to grow tired of something after spending a large amount of time on it. It's what I call the "honeymoon effect". You're basically no longer enamored with Gaia, and the only thing that will keep you here is what you decide you like.

Minoran Sanoko is right...taking a break would help. Sometimes only separation can remind you why you're there in the first place.

I was sort of bored with Gaia myself, until I rediscovered roleplaying. That's kept me super-entertained, and when the orb drop rate was upped in zOMG!, I began playing that much more, too.

Lesson: Try new things! Maybe forums & guilds are getting boring, but try Towns, or zOMG!, or doing new things on Forums such as RPing or contests in the GD or whatever. You never know.

Though the GiB hasn't been very alive lately... :[

There's really not much to do GIB-wise lately without a plot update. Let's face it; without the Zurg, we're really no more than another secret society guild, albeit one that got mentioned in a comic once. Our glory days are three years gone, and unless the devs decide to bring back the aliens, there's really not much for us to do as a guild.

As for Gaia, I completely agree. This is the first time I've logged on in months, even with my main. I was pretty into it during the beta-testing of zOMG!, but once it got released my interest pretty much dropped completely, ironically enough. It just takes way too much time and commitment to really be involved in the community.

There's no reason to force yourself to be involved; once it feels like a chore, it's time to take a break. If you don't feel like logging into Gaia, don't. Go learn how to play guitar or something.

There's no easy way out.

Err...chief? Were you hoping we would persuade you to *not* want to take a break?
PostPosted: Sat Feb 07, 2009 3:45 pm

Well.
I lurk a lot more than I used too, but I still love Gaia.
It is all about focusing on the positive and ignoring the negative!

But the GiB should really start being more active.
Hmm.

Hey!
No breaks for Agent TIM, we'll miss you!

But how can we miss him if he never leaves? razz

I honestly. I agree. Gaia use to have my attention and now, it doesn't. I only visit it like once a week. And I don't care if I don't. And know I am going back to other games cause of Gaia not catching my eye. And I don't have enough stuff to play dress up 24/7.

I still come on every day, but I'm running out of things to do. I used to play zOMG! for awhile, but I started getting bored with that after a little while. I'm sure something will happen that will catch my attention, though.
