king of kings Open Mind, Open Heart. Name: Reason/Meaning and Origin behind name: Personality:
Prompt Chosen: #2
Response:
Life had its own ways of teaching you your place in life. Of this he was certain. He currently sat atop a rise in the land, which had crumbled away on one side, forming a drop-off and a hollow beneath, as if the land had sunk in shame from the imperfect hill. Gazing down into the rough earth exposed to the sun, he reflected on his lot in life, as it had been taught to him.
He was still young, but no longer carried the light-hearted assuredness of the youthful. No, too much had happened for that. He did not exactly consider his younger self foolish. Merely naive, inexperienced, and wholly unprepared for the future. Looking back, had he not been a typical young pad? Proud of his females, living a contented life while they hunted for him,a nd he protected them. He'd loved them so, each of them for who she was. Samira, Rota, Ismir. He counted out their names in silent mental honor. They deserved a good afterlife. They had been good to him, and he hoped he'd been equally good to them. But they were not to be his forever happiness.
It ached deep in his heart. He'd been shocked by his first banu's death. The second had come shortly after, leaving him feeling futilely angry. Angry at life, at death, at the world in general. All he had now was his beybanu, his treasured first female. He'd stood beside her as she'd gone into labor, trembled as she strained, and then wept as she breathed her last. And the cubs! All those little lives that might have been playing and growing around him, carrying on his bloodline. His head dropped low with the grief remembered. Yes, he was much like this hill, crumbled and fallen apart in that section of life when it should have been good and whole.
But unlike this hill, he had not been left broken and alone. Though the earth here pulled away as if it spurned the hill's shame, his family, his pride, had done no such things.

FARAJI
Well, I was thinking he could be a real sweetie, such that he kinda... took in banu who were scared of or restentful of being 'used' or traeted like property... he would not force them to be his actual mates, but would treat them gently, with respect. I guess that means he'd take in kajira, now that I look at it... he'd have great patience, a gentle demeanor, and a willingness to break tradition (like hunt for himself) if it meant peace in the home.
The whole idea stemmed from an image of him reassuring his sister that he'd take her as HIS banu, so she'd never have to worry about being abused or taken for granted.
