Two beautiful Browns.
Faranth, what he would have given for one of them.

Of course, it wasn't really a surprise when they chose Candidates other than himself. In fact, he had almost expected it. He wasn't worth is for a Brown, he knew. He could be considered lazy, always putting off what could be done today until tomorrow. That didn't discourage him, however. Just because a Brown wouldn't chose him didn't mean a Blue wouldn't, or even a Green. Though, he knew it was more common that Greens chose women, or so this Hatching had shown.

And Shards, that little Blue was just so damn cute!

He found himself smiling, even laughing (however softly), at the Blue's antics, reminded of himself. Yawning and stretching and lazing about on the warm Sands - it was a life he wouldn't mind having himself. However, it wasn't long before he stood (and stretched again), and then went off to find his, which was, of course, no where near where he or Tideal stood. Once again, he was reminded of how many times the other boy had Stood, and wondered if this would be his last. No, he was still young. Tideal had one, maybe two more Hatchings to attend. Himself, however... That made him frown thoughtfully. Probably only one more, unless another Clutch came along relatively soon.

He was jolted out of his thoughts when Tideal poked him. He raised himself to his full height and then some, stretching up onto his toes for a better look. "Four," he said quietly, and no sooner had he said it, two of the eggs started to shake and shiver. The Thoroughbred egg first, a beautiful little Brown falling through the egg with an indignant squeak. He almost whined an 'aw' and quickly reminded himself of where he was. Sure, the little Brown was cute, but that was hardly any indication to start fawning over him. Shortly after the Brown was freed, the Andalusian egg began to rock, and his breath caught in his throat. A rather large egg - could it hold a Bronze? After all, there had only been one in the Clutch, and it would have been nice to see another, especially when the first was so... charismatic?

Yes, that word suited the Mustang Bronze.
That, or flirtatious.

Terisa watched as another brown spilled out onto the sands. Shaking her head, she was starting to become amused with how many males had been hatched out of this clutch. Noticing that another egg was rocking as well, the weaver girl kept her hopes up that that one would reveal a green....

Ohhh! Another brown! That was actually rather funny... she'd heard that Greens were the most common, yet this hatching seemed to be full of... browns. Hmm, maybe it was because she was looking at more of the browns than some of the other (ASSUMED NPC) eggs that were hatching.

There were bound to be plenty of greens to catch her attention.

Ohhh, she just didn't know! Now all she knew was that there was going to be a happy boy to impress in the near future...
....
...

And she desperately wanted to know what was in the egg that was shaking at the given time. Ahh! It was all so very very exciting!

Oh, more eggs rocking and breaking again, a-- ... and was that yet another brown spilling out from the first? Granted, Canthry had no prior knowledge of hatchings to draw from, but it felt like the color ratio was rather peculiar with this clutch... Shouldn't there have been more greens and blues in there somewhere?

Not that she found browns anything but pleasant, of whom had all, sans the first, been easy enough to watch from a distance without worry. Browns were regarded as the most steadfast of dragons, for what she recalled: noble, hardworking, and all the makings of a bronze except... not quite.

They were all certain to impress on some overjoyed young men at the side of her, she figured, and simply watched the currently lone chocolate creature squeak and struggle to its feet.

... Another egg, she'd noted, was starting to rock as well. Just a few left now in the whole clutch without their Mines, weren't there?

What a dizzying Hatching this had been! Beginning with such violence, then a quick series of Impressions, and that lull! But things were moving again, more Impressions had been made, and Illabel waited a bit impatiently for the rest of the eggs to hatch. It wasn't that she disliked browns... they were very beautiful, in a handsome sort of way. But the brown and bronze lovelies did her no good. She doubted a blue was likely to be for her, but she'd heard of it happening before. It was the small ones, the greens, that she figured were her best bet. So it was that she turned her eyes from the chocolatey brown and watched the eggs that were left on the sands amid the shattered remains of their sibling's eggs, most especially the one rocking back and forth.

Berjint was delighted. So many boys were Impressing! His spirits had risen significantly since the choatic start to the Hatching. This was exciting! Even the quiet during which no eggs moved, he was bursting with anticipation. He rocked back and forth from heels to toes, hands clasped behind his back, grinning like a fool as dragonets wandered through the boys and slowly picked Theirs. He watched the current brown with great interest. Who would he pick? Who was right for this little darling? The swelling of contentment and rightness of being there on the sands filled him to brimming, positively bursting with steady pleasure.

Cavaruth chuckled as he peered down on the sands, "So many males...A good thing I think. Would you agree, A'ras?

A'ras grinned a little and had to agree because that meant less women for Cav to be chasing. "Oh yes, Cav, I agree completely." Keeping the reason entirely to himself. He remembered his first days with Cav and didn't envy what some of those youngsters would be going through when they got their dragons off to the Weyrling barracks. Cav had more than enough quirks to take over his life completely when they first started out and by the looks of the dragons below, these youths were going to be challenged. At least, for the lucky lady who got the gold. That one seemed to have a...loud personality. At the moment, he didn't look to favorably on golds and their riders and all he could do at the moment was hope for better in future generations.

He glanced around the stands trying to get a reasonable idea of who and what were watching tonight. Seemed like everyone who was anyone was around. Of course, that sparked another thought...was that Kyllae girl smart enough to stay away...or did she hide somewhere amongst the crowd. Mm....something to watch for...

Santhea yawned, and flicked her chin-length hair away from her face again. Soo tired.. almost boring out here on the sands. Where's the excitement, and why has it decided to skip this particular clutch? she wondered. Was it because of that girl, touching the eggs while they were still soft? Or maybe it was just because the clutch was a good one..

She opened her eyes wider when one of the larger eggs rocked - and the pretty warm brown dragonet tumbled out. Santhea didn't think the brown would pick a girl - at least, she didn't think gthey did- and so she relaxed a little. He was a very beatiful creature, and when he fell he had the ability to make the watcher want to look after him - What Santhea would do for an ability like that! But the Weyr cooks probably wouldn't believe a word she said, considering the trouble Santhea usually brewed under her mother's nose. She chuckled a little as the brown pulled himself up, then sucked in her breath when another large egg started shaking. Oh the tension!
A small and darling dragonet from earlier was walking - rather gracefully for a hatchling - near the front, where Santhea stood. She smiled at the little creature, wondering why he seemed a little tense. Anxious? About the big egg?

Kess had felt the weight of Uuni against her increase, but had also been rather disinclined to wake the older woman. After all, she was watching the eggs, and it made no difference if the brunette took a rest. It'd been a long, long night and the blonde would sleep if she could.

A certain handsome bronze caught her gaze as he made his way through the candidates. Making brief eyecontact with the fellow, she made no move to interfere as he began to nose at Uuni, holding her own arm rather then stroking him. He was charming and she grinned at him as he headed away, though the swirl in his eyes was changing.

That made her frown slightly. He was worried too...

Distracted from her thoughts by two cracking eggs, followed by yet another brown onto the sands, Kess's whispery voice found its way to Uuni's ears once more, amused, low, and somewhat excited. "Another brown...! You're rather cute when you drool, you know."

Her eyes, however, didn't leave the eggs, despite her teasing. It made things lighter, to joke, in this late hour upon the sands.

O'asis, being quite blonde himself as he was, cracked a grin. "Blinded by your hair? I wasn't aware that hair could do that," he pondered aloud. "Seems useful enough, though. I suppose you could walk the beaches at night and warn trader ships away from the rocks, eh?"

Kyllae commented on it, but clearly wasn't uncomfortable or trying to withdraw her hand, so O'asis was happy to let his rest there. It seemed there was something happening on the Sands again, so his eyes wandered that way, but he still chattered cheerfully to her as the latest duo of eggs began their business. "The lessons... are all right. About as dull as you could imagine, but Uktenath keeps me on task - Faranth forbid I should let my attention wander!"

Uuni watched the bronze leave with questions jumping about her head. He looked very much on a mission, and the way he stood when he got to his finishing point intrigued her quite a lot.

She groggily tucked some hair behind her ear, and at Kess's words, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and made a slightly disgusted face.

But it was shadowed very much by the shudder that worked its way down her spine. "Don't whisper so close to my ear, Kess," she said in grumpy half-awake state. She persisted to rid any remaining drool from her face.

Lovely. How was that cute?

Never the less, anymore of her ear-whispering tricks and Uuni thought she might lose any sort of self control that was left. Normally this wouldn't bother her, but she was on the sands, and there was a chance to Impress. This was not the time to get turned on.

Kess frowned again, her body tensing slightly. She hadn't meant to make the other girl uncomfortable. After all, they'd only really begun to get to know each other and if Uuni had some weird thing about her ears, well. Kess was relatively harmless, and always tried to put people at ease, in fact, she'd been told she was rather good at it.

Her attempt to ease the tension of the sands had backfired a bit this time, resulting in her own upswing of stress and the blonde nodded slightly, dark eyes locked on the brown and remaining eggs. Goodness, he was handsome, just like his brothers!

"Sorry," Kess muttered, putting a tiny amount of distance between them as she felt quiet.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2009 1:19 pm

Uuni gave a heavy sigh and a barely audible groan as Kess ventured a little farther away.

"Don't apologize." She bumped their shoulders together to let the other girl know it was fine. "I just have sensitive ears is all."

The word sensitive really didn't even begin to cover it. People could have said vile, nasty things and insulted her into the next Weyr, but if they said it next to her ear, she'd hardly catch the meaning and assume all sorts of other things.

Taking another breath, she stood on the balls of her feet to catch the glimpse of the brown once again. Kess seemed to like the browns quite a lot. Uuni had never seen one Impress to a female, however. The girl was probably chasing a dream.

Giving her a slight smile, she returned her attention to the bronze at the front of their group and farther still to the brown and the rocking motions of his clutch-mate.

A quick, hesitant smile and she nodded toward the eggs, unknowingly addressing Uuni's thoughts. "I like having more browns than bronzes. I prefer their personalities and steadiness." She didn't like the arrogance many bronze-riders seemed to develop.

"And the blues have been rather handsome." A slight frown. "Where are all the greens?" She was obviously a bit worried about the smaller eggs.

Miss Cherie
S'van actually smiled at that point, relieved to have something else to concentrate on besides the fact that he was pretty sure his best friend was being dimglowed over that girl. It wasn't as though he could hear them or anything. "Nice to see you. And yeah, I was, actually. From the very start, even. Saw Rin Impress." Well, and all the maulings, but aside from one in particular, those weren't terribly important. Thinking silently 'I hate her I hate her I hate her' wasn't going to make things any better. He was acting like a wherry. What did he care if O'asis had another friend that he wanted to spend time with? It wasn't like O'asis had ever had a lack of friends.

He tried on another smile. "A nasty temper, huh? Don't think I've met him. Does he really?" Paired with that even tempered dragon, too. Huh. Who would've thought? "Seems like there's a real variety at this Hatching," he commented idly. Oh, that is very good. I'm glad that you have company. The Brown seemed to be in high spirits, despite his rider's current childish behavior, though there was an undertone of worry in there somewhere. I am well. Why were you frightened?

He was always pleased when his friends got along, though knew there was no reason these two shouldn't find each other's presence agreeable. E'si and N'tos, well, that was a different story! "You too? Shards, glad that didn't happen to us! I haven't been to many Hatchings, but this is the fiercest I've seen so far. Shards, I'll have to congratulate her later--and wish her luck." His grin was cheeky, but well-meant. "All right, to be fair, he had a reason..."

He stretched himself back a little, clearly relishing the beginning to this tale. "O'asis had me.. rather encouraged to convince people we needed a new Weyr, hm?" He murmured for S'van's ears only (and N'tos, if he was interested!) before he straightened and talked more loudly. "So I was seeing if I couldn't clog some of the toilets and make life a little uncomfortable in the barracks. I'd nearly gotten all of them and was about to start on the last when... well, he clearly needed it and ah, was not pleased I was about to choke the thing. He didn't manage to smack me up against the wall and beat me like he wanted, but he also didn't try to hunt me down!"

You should not have been doing that in the first place, anyway. Ianquith chided, though understood why he had to. And she had been good, and not objected, because she had given Uktenath her word. Oh... I did not like seeing them get hurt down there, and I do not understand why they were so angry with them... She sighed a little, just glad that no one had been seriously hurt.

G'ran, meanwhile, was oblivious to the horrifying stories being told about him. He was too distracted with feeding Ormeteth, clumsy in his awe, but the little brown was patient and merely keepings his jaws agape so bits of meat could be poked in for him to swallow. He paused to watch the blue Impress (finally) to another of the boys that had been mauled, and blinked as yet another brown spilled onto the sands. The one egg began to rock as well, and that was enough to make Ormeteth freeze.

"What?" He grunted, but was unable to help the sudden anxiety and concern he felt from the dragonet flooding through him, big hands awkwardly attempting to stroke at the little one to keep him calm. "What?" He repeated, slightly softer.

I do not know. Ormeteth blinked, then peered up at him. But do not worry, Mine. I love you.

He choked so loud that it would probably be enough to turn a few heads.

Wrapped in her brand new two-mind world, Inaari had not noticed any of the newcomers until a loud choking sound had both Eponath's head and her own turning towards the source. There, in all his stocky glory, was Goran! A sprightly brown was looking up at him adoringly, and the grin that had effused the girl's face since the moment of her Impression only split wider, to be truly painful.

"Goran! Oh Goran, congratulations!" She waved her arm at him furiously, unwilling at all to leave her new charge. Inaari had been steadily feeding the dragonet, so Eponath's natural curiosity and friendly demeanor took over. Mine, I want to go see them! Who are they Inaarimine? "Well, that's Goran. He's a big guy, kinda gruff. But he's very nice, I think. I don't think anyone else thinks that, but I do!"
