Is it just my marching band, or does every other band have band families? I'm not talking about generations of siblings and cousins in the same marching band. Our band upperclassmen 'adopt' freshman and those freshman are called Band Children. I have a band mother, 9 siblings, two kids, an aunt, grandmother, uncles, and cousins. Things get pretty confusing and it's hard to explain. Tell me about your Band Family.

Holy cow. Big family.
We used to in high school, and I had a mother, I suppose. and a sister. But now in college, they don't do that stuff. If they did, I'd also have a mother and a sister again.

Oh yeah. We marry each other and adopt each other with no care for former relation...And we cheat on our wives/husbands with other people and have very scandalous affairs (and sometimes incestuous). It gets hard to keep track of who is related to who and how. lol

We don't really do it officially.
But I made a freshman be my band mommy because she helped me put on my gauntlets every day.
She's also been my friend for years so it's not weird calling her Mommy.

My band did that... I didn't partake it in but we had a group of people who did that... it got complicated quick.

In my band family I have 3 moms 2 dads 2 aunts 1 uncle 3 sisters 1 brother 1 husband and 1 wife no kids yet though.
I also do that sort of thing outside band in my group of friends.

I took over as 'mom' when my section leader graduated, =3
I have 6 daughters, and one cousin.

I have a group of guys who were in my band last year who are still under the delusion that I am their little cousin. I'm good with that though, they're nice guys.

I do we just dont get real into it, like i have a business cousin who plays tuba but we dont get in to moms, dads.

My old best friend 'adopted' me as her freshman, but so much for that, because she barely talks to me anymore because she found better people to hang out with, which bummed me out for a while, but I found better later.

our band family...damn their main thing is "incest"
i have like 5 sisters and 11 nephews and nieces and like 1 mom and no dad because my "mom" had sex with a tree so we're all half tree.
xd we're weird.

well...ours isn't exactly like that.
Our sections are like our siblings. Seriously, the other tuba guys are like my brothers (and sister). Though sometimes I'm more like a mom to them, when I'm cleaning up after them, and helping them pin on their flower for the senior concert, etc.
Last year, we had two fantastic band directors, who were like parents to us. We used to joke that Owen was the dad and D was the mom.
And between sections, we're like close cousins. It's nothing set like you guys are talking about, we just had one giant family that was our band.
This year, unfortunately, our family turned seriously dysfunctional. crying

My band does it also.
One of the upperclassmen adopt a freshman.
I'm not really sure if it extends beyond that.

Haha, I wish I was as close to my section as most of you guys are! I don't really fit in with anyone in my section, and only a few people make me feel not awkward.
Instead I'm hella tight with the freshie clarinets (+ Amelia, sophomore) and pit. XD But I'm doing pit next year so.
