In the author's thanks section, near the end, this is what it says:
"Also, for those who understoof the reference to a "lonely god" when Eragon and Arya are sitting around the campfire, my only excuse is that the Doctor can travel everywhere, even alternate realities. Hey, I'm a fan too!"
AWESOMENESS! No?

Wow, this gives me a bit more incentive to read. Even if it's like a one-line reference or something... xD; Though, I'll be totally confused... I haven't been able to make myself go back and re-read the other two.

Whoaaa.. seriously?! I love reading but Eragon took half a year to get through (I put it down twice 'cause it was annoying). For comparison of how I generally read, it took me about 5 1/2 hours to get through Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. So.
I don't think I'll bother but I'll point it out to some fans of the books who think Doctor Who is dumb. rofl rofl

Hahah wow, so getting that book just to read that line. Eh the series isn't so bad, but it just seems like... lord of the rings for teenagers, you know?

I have to say, I noticed it on my first reading..thought it was a coincidence, hit the acknowledgements..and..yeah. I was happy. I had to go back and re-read it.. It was one of the factors that made me like it, which i still find surprising considering how bad I found Eldest..
Actually, I still have a bookmark at that page.. For those who don't want to go looking:
Adrift upon the sea of time, the lonely god wanders from shore to distant shore, upholding the laws of the stars above. It's on page 204..

That's so awesome! I read this thread before I read the book so I knew it was coming, but I had to go around and point it out to all my family. I like how he says he's a fan in the acknowledgments, way to go Chris!

Bwaha.. still won't read it.. it's not LotR for teens, it's more like a bad copy. sad
It's like it takes plot points from other books/series but never really explains them, and since that makes the book easier to get through without all the backstory, it becomes popular. sweatdrop

I completely agree with Ceribri about Eragon being a bad copy. I guess also that the Harry Potter had come and gone when the first book was released. I was given the book as a birthday present, but couldn't get into it at all. This is only notable as there arent that many good fantasy books that i cannot get into. I ended up reading the first one eventually after I gave the book to my sister and she raved about it. I skim read the next 2/3? books, not impressed. Its sort of cool that theres a Doctor who reference. I will probably just read that page.

I read that and thought, "Hey, that kinda sounds like a reference to Doctor Who. No, it probably isn't. I'm just a DW fanatic." Then I read the author's note, freaked out, and fell in like with Christopher Paolini. 4laugh 4laugh
