Hey everybody! Welcome to our Samhain/Beltane 2008 celebration! whee

Everyone who signs this guestbook will be entered into an end-of-party raffle. We have a lot of great prizes to be won, however, we will not announce what they are until a later time.

Our only requirements for you to be entered into the raffle are:
- You have to be a member of the guild at the time you make your first post in this guestbook.
- In your post, you have to include something that is related to whichever of the two Sabbats you're celebrating. This can be a photograph, a recipe, a spell, a ritual, poetry, a brief history of the Sabbat, and so on.

If you don't meet both of those requirements, then you will not be entered into the raffle. It's that simple.

The party will remain open from Sunday, October 19th, 2008 through Friday, November 7th, 2008.

If you want to hang out with us in Gaia Towns, please head on over to Barton 002967. We will be in block 5 and block 6. You guys can feel free to hang out in those areas whenever you want. We're going to try to arrange some group shots. We will post more information on that at a later time.

Here are some badges that you can put into your signatures to show that you're participating in this celebration:

::signs and dances:: Hi everyone, hope you all have a great Samhain, and that you all are doing well. ::huggles to everyone::

This year I'll be going to a big celebration with all my pagan friends around here. Bonfire, dancing, singing and meditation. It's a great big pot luck as well, huzzah!

Thank you for signing, but just so you know, you won't be entered into the end-of-party raffle because you didn't follow the raffle instructions in the first post. It's not too late though.

Just wanted to make sure you knew. smile

Have a blessed Samhain or Beltane everyone!
Poem:
With the end of summer, autumn calls.
One by one, we see leaves fall.
Colour by number, black as thirty one.
Ghosts come, and leave when done.
This Samhain, better than the last.
One to remember, from years' past.
(That sounds like a cheesy poem, but poetry can be that way... -sigh-)

Merry Meet! Happy Samhain/Beltane everyone. I had read somewhere (pertaining to Samhain) that if you write your weeknesses on a piece of paper and then burn it in a canlde flame, it will help you overcome them in the upcoming year.

Hey all, have a blessed Samhain/Beltain!

In my family we go all out for our Halloween, we go trick or treating and the adults stay and give out candy to the trick-or-treaters, then we wait until midnight and have our dinner, we set an extra plate out and we do a ritual. It changes from year to year, depending on whats happened, if anyone has passed away, etc. Then we eat our dinner and think about our futures and about our pasts, about the family and friends we've lost and hope they're doing well.

does that count? Sorry I kinda lack specifics, since it changes every year and Im still pretty uninformed about all the proper words for everything lol

G'day, hope your Beltane/Samhain is fun and wonderful!

This is my first Wiccan celebration of Beltane, and since I'm in the Southern Hemisphere I find it a bit odd that my holidays have been mixed around.

A spell to promote love and life;

Materials- Seeds, potting mix and pot, optional candle (preferably green), and lastly water.

Method:

If you have a candle, light it now. Place potting mix inside the pot. Sing or say these words when placing the seeds in the pot;

As I plant these seeds to grow
Let the love in my life show
When I nurture and show them care
Mend the broken heart I bare
Once they are thriving green
Joyful love I may beam
And harm none so mote it be

Finish by watering the seeds and setting them in a place to grow. Put out the candle with a candle snuff or pinching the wick. Visit everyday to spend time watering and bonding.

I know it's a bit rough, but I'm working on it. I'm not that great at poetry sweatdrop

Happy Samhain everybody! Hope ya'll have a great time!

Soraya
Pronounced sow-en or sav-en, this holiday will be better known to you as Hallowe'en. It is the Wiccan equivalent of New Year and represents the last day of the harvest season.
It is a time to honour ancestors and many leave altar offerings in the form of food and wine in tribute to dead relatives, or set some extra places at the dinner table in case any late family members wants to join the feast.
This is traditionally the time for eating the last seasonal vegetables. Meat is traditional at this festival. This is the last opportunity for harvest. After this night, harvesting vegetables is thought to be bad luck. Apples are traditional so cider is the best accompaniment to the food.

Significance: The last day of harvest, remembrance of and respect for the dead.
Herbs: Allspice, nutmeg, rosemary and sage.
Foods: Root vegetables (carrots, parsnips, potatoes, turnips), apples, pumpkins and squashes, nuts, wines, cider, beef, lamp, pork and poultry.

Blessed Samhain/Beltane to all!!!

I haven't yet decided what I'm doing this year. Normally we do the whole trick-or-treat thing with the kids, but my oldest (at 11) has decided he doesn't want to go this year and my youngest couldn't care less, so who knows. I may wait until the actual cross-quarter day to do my actual ritual, but I really haven't decided.

Yay! I'm here ^__^

Recipe:

Okay, you know those reeeeally good carmel apples that those of us with braces just can't eat? Here's the solution!

Supplies

~Carmel squares (as many as you want!)
~Candy corn
~....A microwave >__>
~And chocolate! (I use white, but you can use whatever)

Step One: Heat the unrawped carmel squares for about ten to fifteen secounds, depending on your microwave (You just want them to be a little squishy) Proceed with jabbing the candy corn violently into the unsuspecting carmels. Go crazy with it!

Step Two: Put the mutilated candy on a microwave-safe plate, crumble up the chocolate and stick it on top, on the sides or just about anywhere on the carmel.... I use Lindt chocolate so I can just bite the top part off and then stick the carmel in the lower half ^__^;;

Step Three: Microwave for 5 or 10 seconds- make it gooey! Mess is the best! It's not supposed to look pretty, and it only tastes good if you're in desperate need of sugar, but this is pretty much a staple in my house ^__^ Feel free to decorate the end mess with cinnamon, sugar, gum drops, whatever. Pop rocks are fun to watch ^__^

Blessed Samhain everybody!

I got this spell at www.pagan-magic.co.uk:
Quote:

Samhain New Beginnings

Cast a circle and ask your Guardians to be present.

The candles on the altar should be black, and it is usual to have nuts, pine cones, and apples also.
Place a small bunch of dry, dead twigs there as well.

Stand at the center of the circle, facing west, and begin to think deeply about the meaning of this time. Slowly say the following words:

"THE LORD SAILED SLOW INTO THE WEST,THE LADY WAITS AND WEAVES; TIME OF DARKNESS,TIME OF DEATH, BALD BRANCH, BARE EARTH, BROWN LEAVES."

Think about endings and retreat, and what it all means to you. Now think of all the things you really need to let go of, in order to make room for something else. When you are ready, say:

"HE LETS GO, I TOO LET GO, EMBRACE THE COMING DARK; I OPEN PALMS AND LOOSEN GRIP ON ALL THAT MUST DEPART."

Open your palms and imagine all the unwanted matter dispersing like seeds upon the land-for thats what they are, seeds of some new potential that you can't yet see.

Now put out all the candles except one on the altar. Sit in the center of the circle and meditate. Call upon beloved ones who have died, to keep you company if they wish. Scry, if you wish, perhaps by looking for images in a bowl of water that reflects the solitary candle flame. This is your underworld descent. Take as much time over it as you like. Think also of the inner fires. This is a time of peace, when inspiration may unfold within you, new things become possible for the earth.

You should have a cauldron, or bowl in the center of the circle, with a candle in it. When you are ready take this candle to the altar candle and light it. (Although the other candles should be black,I would choose a white candle to stand in the cauldron.) Put the candle in the cauldron, sit and look at the candle and say:

"IN SHADOWS DEEP WE CLEARER SEE, THE LIGHT THAT FLAMES WITHIN; IN DARKNESS WHIRLING, STIRRING ROUND, SEE, NEW LIFE NOW BEGIN."

Watch the flame as it dances and glows. So does the life force, deep in the bark, under the dead leaves, under stones... and it will awaken again. Consecrate some wine by drawing a pentagram over it with athame or wand - drink some and allow its warmth to make you feel more alive. You need something to bring you out of the rather sombre, meditative phase. When you are ready, circle desoil around the cauldron, braking into a dance if you like. With athame direct power into the candle that already flames there, feeling it surge with increased power. Then take up the candle and relight all the other candles. Vitality still pulses under the earth. Visualize the light of your inner sight gaining strength.

Take up the dead twigs. Name them after things that need to die, for yourself, for others, for the earth. Affirm strongly that each twig embodies something undesirable that must go, for the good of all. Keep them and burn them later on in a bonfire.

Cut an apple so you expose the star in the center. Save the pips to bury somewhere - they are the seeds of new life. Eat the apple in celebration, and drink the wine in honor of the Goddess and God and the four Gaurdians. Do not forget to thank the dead that you feel were there with you.

Close the circle.
For the last time, it was a joke!
