O_O That's illegal, what they did. I don't like either candidate pair. xP They may have the political skills, but you just don't shoot predator animals like that. gonk Like Yuumei said in her description, there's something called a predator-prey cycle. That's a basic of Principles of Biology, VP nominee! Go back to college! *shakes fist at blatant ignorance of wildlife law*
v.v I like wolves. Not as much to obsess over 'em, but I respect them and their place in the world. They were here first and have been a part of the natural progression of things for hundreds of years. They don't need us humans elbowing in to "control" their populations when prey get too scarce for our liking. Nature takes care of that. We do need to stop trying to play God and let nature take its course.
Then again, I don't credit politicians as being the smartest of our species. That proves it, if what Yuumei said was true and her links aren't all propaganda. :/ I don't know what to believe anymore. T-T It still got a reaction out of me, but I dunno what's true and what isn't.

You would think after all the years of trying to control predator populations, politicians would actually look at the outcome of their interference.
Way back when, the black panther population where my parents live was thriving "a little too well" and the deer population was dwindling rapidly. What did they do? Remove the panthers. About ten years ago or so, they realized that the deer population, only threatened by cars and those silly little men sitting up in trees during the winter, were thriving to a point that it was killing the species. There were so many deer they were starving and starting to compete with the cattle population for grazing rights. Disease was also spreading through the population.
They had to lessen the restrictions on hunters during the season (basically giving no limit for the number of deer that could be taken by a single hunter) as well as reintroducing black panthers back into the county (surprise surprise).
Last I heard, only a few of the panthers were able to adjust to the new home, preying on domestic animals rather than deer. More than once we saw a panther lurking around the home of a young family. The deer population is still high, since they seem to know how to avoid the hunters, but dropping slowly. All because a politician or two looked at falling deer numbers and didn't stop to think that maybe the panther population would fall soon after and level the playing field again, just like it has done for eons.
An additional thought... I think all politicians have to undergo a lobotomy before taking office.

Reading the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund website, I found that they are talking about allowing "aerial hunting" in Yellowstone as well...
The GOVERNMENT put the wolves back in Yellowstone. They funded the release of rehabilitated wolves to boost the population!

The government does indeed suck. I never got how cool it was to to shoot things that can't shoot back while you're in a plane.
But there is no thinking when it comes to hunting. The only time we manage to point out the almost-gone animals, it's because humans have been the major cause for their death. We killed off a lot of animal's numbers, killed off the Thylacine (and who knows what else), and I'm sure pandas all turned gay and would rather not see their future generations in this world dominated by an animal that has no fur, no nails, useless teeth, and is ironically the most smartest/stupid creature that would rather benifit in harming home, nature, and themselves.
I saw this pic somewhere and it was a repost, but had the link to the original artist and had the info and such on it. i felt I had to share as 1) I HATE people who do the plain hunting, and 2) it just so happens this brod is one of them. 3) I guess would be this is a sad thing and rather furry-esque in a way.

See, this is why I don't vote conservative. It's bad for the wildlife AND the economy. Hell, even Cheney almost pulled "The Perfect Game" on his hunting buddy.

Atsu and I had an interesting conversation about politicians. While we have some differing opinions about sides, we did agree on one thing... politicians shouldn't all be old geezers whose fingers are no where near the pulse of the country, let alone world. I honestly think that some of... today's generation should be in congress, speaking for those of us who are going to be around to feel the affects of all the s**t congress is putting into works. Maybe then alternative energy and other topics would be more than just topics by now and the American people, economy, and environment wouldn't be suffering like they are.

I wonder if these men even began to question what they were doing. I don't understand how someone could just shoot a helpless little wolf cub because of what it might do someday, let alone fourteen of them. Hell, what would happen if we could be put to death for something we might do someday?
As for my view on government?
Any government, regardless of how big or small, is going to be flawed in some way. That's just how things work sadly. This rape of nature is a prime example. When the day comes that I can vote, I doubt that I will, because it seems that I gradually come to hate any man that comes to power in the world. And yes folks, sometimes the smallest softest voice carries the grand biggest solutions.

Come on guys! we've almost derailed the topic!
Nah but seriously. Palin sucks. McCain sucks even more. Biden be suckin' even more than that. Obama...well...I'm still not quite sure about. So far it's been a whole lot of lip service and nice words that we want to hear...but he's not showing his hand like the others. This could go either way and it'll either prolong the screwing of the US people, or make it happen pretty damn fast. I'm inclined to say prolong it, but as with everything...things have to fall totally apart before you can pick up the pieces and try again.....hmmm....
NOW THEN!!! killing baby animals for fun is wrong...just plain wrong. Now, if a rabid creature were gnawing on my arm, I'd probably have to freak out. Self-defense is one thing, causing harm to another living creature for the hell of it is another. Boo on them, I say, BOOO!!!

Poor wolves. What did they ever do to deserve to be killed? You'd figure people would realize trying to kill one species ruins the natural cycle and helps destroy another. If it wasn't for reintroduction programs and reservations, I seriously doubt there would be such animals as wolves and foxes left in this world. Wolves maybe a "threat" in the eye of the people who don't understand them, or have the time to try. They are simply animals put on this Earth for a purpose, just like any other human being. And as I just learned from working on my biology project, wolves in the Great Plains protect the northern swift fox from getting hurt and killed by coyotes. If people hadn't of tried poisoning the wolves in that region, both wolves and swift foxes wouldn't be as endangered here in the United States. The government needs to learn to save an animal the proper way.

I swear I don't know how I overlooked this topic! *Her tail bristles in anger* Those poor wolves, they didn't deserve that kind of treatment. How could someone stand to shoot a helpless wolf cub anyway? Only the cold hearted I suppose... I know I definitely couldn't do something of that magnitude. I wouldn't have the heart or the want to shoot any creature. D= Other than a snake. >_>

I believe hunting animals is wrong unless there is an overpopulation, they are killed to be eaten(Deer, turkey, etc...) or a stampede. Other than that, they have no reason to be killed for sport. It's just sick ard wrong.
