I swear i've drawn my avi countless times before; but now that I have this new hat, every time I try to draw it the whole drawing goes down the drain!
Anyone have any tips on drawing hats? any guides?
If not these damned hats will be the death of me.

I always found it easiest to draw the head and body (no hair), them draw the outline of the hat's brim and work up, adding detail (and hair) last. I used hats as an excuse not to have to draw hair razz

I agree with Atsu. I draw major architectural points of an image first. This includes hats, guns, etc. Shape the big stuff first, so you can fix it if you mess up. The last thing you wanna do is draw the best frickin hair you've ever done, then muck up on the hat (^-^)

It's also how you avoid paying attention in pointless classes

true dat Khleo; actually; I draw so I can pay attention.. I get bored easily and fall asleep rofl
as long as you're drawing something interesting teachers don't get as mad at you but are more intrigued than annoyed twisted
EDIT: also; grats, thread de-railed xd

My class vice was writing. I had dozens of spiral note books designated for my stories and my teachers came to recognize them. They always chimed in a "Jessica, put your notebook away" between the points of their lecture. Nevermind it's how my mind grasps information. When I free write, I retain more information than when I simply copy notes.

you know what I actually noticed the other day? from my elbow to the tip of my hand is as long as my femur is!
That might help with the proportions a bit heh.

Ironic Skys You know what I have a problem drawing? Legs. I can never get the proportions right. Legs are usually longer than the torso, just measure the torso and add more to it. And arms usually reach to your thighs but don't reach the knee, at least not when your standing up straight, unless you wanna make a orangutan anthro. O.o
