This is taken from the Chatterbox, but I feel this could go on at great length.

Myself, it was Disney's Robin Hood cartoon.

Ahhhh.... the good ol' "what got you into furry" thing....

I had always been a furry. I just never knew it was normal for others out there to be so too untill around the 2000's, mainly 04 when I was able to get better time on the webbernet (being poor/not equipped + towns sucking with libraries = no online connections). I eventually met Fala on Deviantart back in 03 and by 04, seeing her work and learning more of the furry termonology, I started to draw again. Not much to my story really.

I think it's rather interesting that a large majority of furs will go with the 'Robin stole my heart' trope when even though I do enjoy Robin Hood myself, my elier cartoons via Disney where 101 Dalmations and Pinochio (Honest John is my homeboy). XD

Marian was cute, but I just dug the whole shtick of being an anthro and shootin' arrows =3User Image

My love of anthro characters probably spawned back when I was a kid and I watched Looney Tunes. It grew even more when I had an immense crush on Razor from Swat Katz whee I actually learned about the furry fandom and became immersed in it five years ago because of Furcadia. Furcadia had a vast amount of artists using it at the time and that's when I was truly brought into the furry realm. The art compelled me and I began my first experimentations in artwork revolving around furries.

I'm actually relatively new to the furry/anthro realms. I've always loved animals, though, and I enjoyed the Disney movies that featured animals as characters. Robin Hood, The Lion King, MGM's The Pebble and the Penguin and All Dogs Go to Heaven; if it had animated animals in it, I watched it. xD Not to mention all the cartoons, like Swat Katz, Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry... You get the idea. x3
I loved the idea of being an animal, too. As a child, I always insisted on playing an animal if roped into some game like house or something. I liked to pretend I was a kiwi bird sometimes, too. >.>
Others just saw me as odd, but respected me and my love of animals. Then Pokemon came around; then in '04, high school saw me start experimenting with anthro(and usually failing xD) thanks to some people on DevART, and here I stand today. :3

For me, I could gladly thank the Disney movies for me standing on the "Furry side of the force" ((lol)) but there's been other movies like Balto, Cats don't Dance, Oliver and Company, and many others. Through the age of 12 and now, it's been the artwork of the Anthro/Furry world that's been the icing to the cake for me being a total Anthro/Furry fan.......I regret nothing!!!! >w<

I think I have always been a furry at heart. Maybe it is just my love of animals, or maybe there's some weird reincarnation thing going on, who knows? All I know is that for as long as I can remember, I have wanted ears and a tail - and wings. But that's probably just me. ^_^"
Disney movies like Robin Hood and Oliver and Company were a love of mine, but they only fueled my passion, they didn't start the fire.

Oh man, this thread is classic.

I first 'became' a furry when I started watching Swat Kats: The Radical Squadron when I was about four years old. I remember I always wanted to be a gun toting hero like Razor was.

I grew obsessive with foxes when I was thrown into daycare at age eight, after getting kicked out of others for biting, and the only video game we had was Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I loved flying around with Tails and I always let my friends use Sonic (seriously...you know Tails is better).

I started seeing things through a vulpine eye after Star Fox 64, but it wasn't till my first girl friend introduced me into the fandom that I actually realized I was part of something bigger. I got my name from the song "Cleopatra's Cat" by the Spin Doctors and started living as a furry ever since.

Well when I was little I loved animals (and still do!) and my parents say I told them everyday that I wanted to be a cat and I would never stop wearing my cat halloween costume. I'm not sure what started it but I've been furry forever! *And to heck with all the kids who called me freak in elementry!*

I got started a long time ago...My love for white wolves began when I saw the movie Princess Mononoke when I was about six or seven. I spent a lot of time as a little kid running around and pretending I was a wolf. For a while, I was actually being a rat. This was a period in my life when I was trying to force myself to become someone else, so I created the persona of Winged Rat; a little rat with big bat wings. It wasn't so much an anthro as an actual rat that could talk.
As time went on, I began to recognize a strong connection I felt with wolves. I created a character for a roleplay that was a red wolf (because I had to be a certain color, and white was taken...long story). I really began to enjoy 'pretending' to be a wolf anthro.
Eventually, a friend of mine showed me the furry fandom. She herself is a dragon furry. It was like a calling. Everything I had wanted to do, like wear ears and a tail, was actually accepted in a community. I wasn't alone in how close I felt to a particular species of animal. It also helped when my boyfriend told me how much he thought I was like a wolf. I quickly began developing who I would be. I came up with the name Bubble T.(since I really like bubble tea, and it went with my boyfriends penname, and it's cute) For a while, I thought I would stay as a red wolf, but the white wolves I loved so much were closer to my heart. That's why I chose that particular type. I changed my avatar to be a white wolf(which it will be forever), my boyfriend got me a white fluffy tail, and I'm currently in the process of getting white wolf ears.

Hmmm, I'm not exactly. It just sorta happened, but one thing that started it the most was when one of my friends gave me a red ribbon and a bell because I acted like a cat. Eventually I moved from the kittyish-ness to being a dragon. Then I finally got to my stand point now as a kitsune Also, many different anime helped as well. Pretty much I've been a kitsune at heart all my life. ^-^
