I'm watching TV right now, and on Inside Edition they're going to show someone who made a calender or something that shows missionaries shirtless. I don't think this is moral... What are your opinions?
I for one think the reason he got ex-communicated for doing this was because he was being unreasonable and wouldn't repent when he we called on his folly.
Honestly I don't think most of them are actual Mormons or missionaries at all... I mean, what kind of missionary has muscles like that? o-o;;
-- I've edited this like a bazillion times. I don't want to double post you see... I read on the page he said it was no different than a Mormon pool party. And that's not true. He's taking those pictures that are actually seductive. He just doesn't truly understand what he's doing. Gah. I'm mostly upset at this whole thing because someone from our church decided to do something that was questionable, and as soon as the media heard about it, they were all over it. Anything to diminish our church in any way they can. Bleck bleck bleck. Dx

I agree with you. But that's the problem...the MEDIA. With all the filth and lies that the media choses to to exploit, of course they would focus on our church. And it doesn't help matters that this is the true church. People do such stupid things sometimes. *sigh*

A bunch of non-Mormons friends wanted to get me one of those calendars, but I don't see why you'd want them.
I personally think they're more attractive in full suit.

I'm disappointed in the guys who took part in the calender. Doing so shows a lack of respect for themselves, for others and for the covenants that they have made.

While they are at least RM and not still in the field, its still sad that they lowered their standards. Really, its not all that bad from a modesty point of view, its just their shirts but the problem is the message it sends. They have made convenants and I think this kinda bends the rules on them a bit. Second, what is that supposed to say about the church? They are in suggestive poses afterall. I'm just disappointed in the RM's that did this.

Well you'd be suprised with the muscle thing. Alot of them are really strong. Yeah the media sucks. You know, they never point out anything good we do like the millions of dollars we immediately put into relief aid for I don't know, Hurricane Katrina, Tsunamis, tornadoes, practically anything possible, but at the slightest mistake, they over exaggerate it and make such a huge deal about it, its no wonder why so many people hate us.

I heard that the guy that did the calender was excommunicated a couple days ago, but that is sad that someone would actually participate in it.

Doing it in the first place was NOT grounds for getting excommunicated, by the way. But when they were asked to stop and said "no" because they would rather have, well the profit than the prophet, then the choice was made. SAD. What a loser.

I think portraying missionaries this way is completely countering what missionaries are meant to do. They are ordained to teach, preach and live the example of our gospel. By displaying them as subjects of sexual desire is encouraging something so wicked I believe his excommunication was and is rightly justified. Sad. but needed.
