The Corn Maize And you thought that movie was scary. One of the largest agricultural cash crops for the city (strange, given it's location), the Corn Maize is well known for the annual Maize Festival, where bales of hay and corn stalks are arranged into a giant... well... maze. There are legends of children never returning from the maze, but for a city practically founded on legends, most people take these sorts of things with a grain of salt.

Marius and Kuji arrived from the west, attentive not only to what was ahead but watching to make sure they weren't being followed.

Unfortunately for them, Shin was not one to take his time plundering. He was a guy who preferred to get in and out quick so that he could enter a house or ship several times, each time loaded down with loot.
And when he had been doing just that, exiting under the false pretense of an alarm sounding, he had seen them leave and given chase. It was odd that they hadn't said something as if they were trying to get all the loot for themselves. And Shin didn't appreciate that not one bit.
He wasn't very inconspicuous either, he was carrying an arm full of silver and gold, metals that sparkled in the light.

Kuji tugged on Marius sleeve, and Marius glanced back at Shin.
"Come on, then!" Marius called out, motioning for Shin to follow. "Don't dawdle!"
They moved on to Central Field, where they would wait for Shin's arrival.

Shin was still curious as to where they were going but he wasn't as suspicious as they seemed to be headed towards the ship. He followed, waiting to see exactly where they were going.

Gambion entered the corn maze quietly. He didn't keep to the pathways either, he made his own, treading lightly and trying not to bump stalks of corn as he went. It was difficult, but then, that kind of stuff was his specialty. Quote: Jacknife is also well trained in tracking, sneaking, and leaving no trace himself. His training began due to his younger years being spent in the forest, then was continued at the hands of the Gaian Military after he was recruited as a scout and spy. It is impossible to track Jacknife when he is on foot through any sort of wilderness unless he is leaving some sort of obvious trail. He looked up over the corn, it was easy to see a few things. The palace for one, it had exploded earlier, and Gambion had no desire to go there. What looked like a bunch of buildings off to the south, but he would be easy to follow if he kept going that way and anyone was just blind guessing him. Up a bit to the east was a bunch of houses. Weren't they supposed to meet in the residential district? Gambion went that way. arrow Ascended Way

[Central Field ->]
And this place was pretty boring too, so the chimera went straight through and kept going south.

A great cloud tendril came down from the sky. It was strangely solid, allowing passage to the heavens above.

"Hold on..." Caesar spoke without much will. He could see the swirling skies pass over them on the way from the ascended way and had a faint premonition of a hurricane flipping the truck and stranding them here, but simply gunned the engine, trusting in his skill at navigating the agricultural dirt roads.
There'd be zombies out there in the fields, but he doubted any could react quickly enough to trouble them. And he was moving the vehicle directly for the Central Fields.
Still, the breath being suddenly stolen from his lungs, the heaviness of his feet on the clutch and accelerator, the sluggishness of his arms as he smoothly brought the 4x4 over a hill... all alarmed him. He redoubled his efforts to clear out of this hellish place.
[EDIT: D'oh. No anti-field actually here. Sorry for the confusion.]

((There isn't an Anti-Field in here, is there?))
Lahren came with the truck, at this point resting in the back. The sky was dark, there was black up there, with odd lights everywhere and all sorts of other weird stuff. It felt like damn Armageddon, but they were out for the time being, so...
Lah was sitting, one leg bent with his arm resting on his knee and the other leg stretched out. The other hand was just hanging idle at his side.
"I'm going to need a drink after this..."

Jacknife hung out the window aiming his shotgun at the corn and ready to shoot at any zombie that popped up. Damn he felt like a hick. All he needed was a flannel shirt and he could hoot and holler to his heart's content.
But his heart would remain malcontent.
"Hey, what's that big cloud thing?!" He yelled over the wind rushing past his face.
((Nope, no anti-field.))

As the captain exited the station he would hear the roar of an engine and the tail end of a truck passing through. He hurried up the last few steps to get a better view but it was a bit hard with a dark cloud hovering overhead. For some reason it gave him a bad feeling, an strange path of darkness leading up to the sky, he'd stay away for now. No, instead of following that path he would begin to walk in the direction that the truck headed towards.
The people he had sorta of seen had seemed normal enough the first normal thing he had seen so far. A deserted town and zombie robots were pretty strange even for him and he wanted to know what the hell was going on somewhere. So against his usual tactics, the captain would march off towards the Central Field, towards people who were not a part of his crew.

Everyone in the immediate area (if any were left) would soon be accosted by the sight of an APC, treads a-blazing, gunning it through the maize without so much a care as to what was behind him. Why didn't it really care what was behind them? Because Athan couldn't really see what was in their way, lowering the door would only cause the APC to either flip over or snap the door clean off, and Athan had a hard time laying off the accelerator what with all the crazy s**t going down.
Athan flipped on the radio by complete accident as they crashed into the corn maze, the sound of corn stalks breaking and brushing against the armored exterior flooding out most of the music that was blaring through the speakers.

WHA-BUMP
The APC listed forward as it hit the walkway leading up to God-Knows Where. All the contents inside were pretty much thrown forward, scattering across the windshield. It was a good thing Athan's sword was lashed down in the back, or it probably would have broken clean through the window and fallen to the ground below. As it was, the windows beside Athan and Vahn shattered from the rocking, causing a stiff breeze to blow into the APC.
"The hell?"
Well, whatever. As long as the APC was still moving Athan wasn't going to get out and check. The only problem was he now had to stare at some long-dead grunt's underwear as he punched the gas. Eventually he just got fed up and reached forward, tossing the underwear out the window.
Now Athan just had to hope that he didn't steer them slightly off course, or it was going to be a long way down.
