Information on the Black Berry Bush:
They are perennial plants which typically bear biennial stems ("canes") from the perennial root system. In its first year, a new stem grows vigorously to its full length of 3-6 m, arching or trailing along the ground and bearing large palmately compound leaves with five or seven leaflets; it does not produce any flowers. In its second year, the stem does not grow longer, but the flower buds break to produce flowering laterals, which bear smaller leaves with three or five leaflets. First and second year shoots are usually spiny, usually with numerous short curved very sharp spines (spineless plants also occur). The flowers are produced in late spring and early summer on short racemes on the tips of the flowering laterals. Each flower is about 2-3 cm in diameter with five white or pale pink petals. The newly developed primocane fruiting blackberries flower and fruit on the new growth. The fruit, in botanical terminology, is not a berry, but an aggregate fruit of numerous drupelets ripening to a black or dark purple fruit, the "blackberry". Unmanaged mature plants form a tangle of dense arching stems, the branches rooting from the node tip when they reach the ground. They are very vigorous, growing at fast rates in woods, scrub, hillsides and hedgerows, covering large areas in a relatively short time. It will tolerate poor soil, and is an early colonist of wasteland and building sites.

The leaf that refused to be ignored:
Jayoku had been raking the small yard, a few of the leaves and blossoms off the trees had fallen. The weather had been abnormal rain, hail snow and then perfectly sunny spring like weather. There were mostly blossoms off trees and the occasionally a green leaf that was blown off the trees in her backyard.
Wiping the sweat from her brow she decided it was time to put the plant refuse into a bag and head inside. She was tired and there were some pretty nasty dark clouds coming her way. Unbekwonst to her a leaf had attached itself to her hair and as she entered her home she only noticed until she checked in the mirror that she became aware of its presence.
Lifting a hand she made a squeak of pain as her fingers touching the small spikes on the leaf branch. Thorns...small ones. Well..that was strange. Bramble type plants don't normally just...loose their leaves. Moving she went to throw the leaf into the garbage. Taking little notice as the leaf seemed to catch some from of breeze and flip up and snag onto her pants .
Moving she went to undress and squeaked in pain as something pricked her leg. Lifting her pants up she noticed the leaf again and frowned wondering how on earth it managed to get there. Plucking it off quickly and carefully she looked it over carefully. It wiggeled slightly she assumed it was from her breath and shrugged. Placing it on the bathroom sink she finally slipped into the shower and turned on the water.
***
As she slipped out of the shower she had forgotten about the leaf completely, and as she dried her hair and wrapped the towel around her body. As she stood she stumbeled having caught the glimps of green under her foot. Catching her balance on the counter she stood poised and watched the leaf wondering how on earth it got there.
..Well there was steam...it must of made the air circulate around the room. And blew it onto the floor? Bending over the plucked the leaf back into her fingers and then examined it again. Persistant bugger...
Standing she finally moved to her bed room wondering just what she should do with this...strange leaf.
Laying on her bed she examined it turning it over carefully over and over. It looked...like a regular leaf. Well...with prickle bits. SHe couldn't identify the leaf, though it seemed familar. Maybe she should look it up in a gardening book. She flipped it over and over wondering what to do with it. One part urged her to throw it out and leave it be. THe other...felt something tug at her heart, she really wanted to know more about it....even if it was just a leaf.
With a yawn she sat up and slid off her bed she hesitated before placing it delicately on he bedside mantal. IN the morning she would see if she could look it up.. Though one part of her heart felt sad, for the leaf would probbaly be all wilted by morning. Ah well. Only time would tell.

Well this is a new phenomenon. I apparantly have a stalker...and not just your run of the mill kind of stalker...this one is small, has a greenish tinge and strangely is unoticable until I nearly step, lay, sit or swat it. Yes...I am talking about a leaf.
Yes. A leaf. You heard me. A little green leaf. With thorns may I add.
I checked out some gardening books but I can't find any information on what kind of leaf it is. Even checked the internet to see if I could find some information on even similar plant species.
And though there are some plants that resemble it slightly there were too many different ones that also seemed similar. I am not sure what it could be. And though I have been tempted to throw it out (and have a couple of times) it seems this leaf has a mind of its own. It keeps following me around, weither I am gardening, on the computer or even in the shower or sleeping it is nearby.
It seems to like me a bit too much. And I am starting to think regardless of what I may think, that this leaf is here to stay with me. Maybe I should get it..a pot or something. Though I hardly think it will stay there since it likes to hang around me.
It tends to attatch itself to my shirt near my neck, perching there like a bird would. Somtimes I would feel it tickle my ear lobe as if reminding me to pay attention to it. Very strange for a leaf. How can it be moving? Some sort of magic? That is quite possible since there are lots of strange things in this world I wouldn't be too surprised.
Makes me wonder if it will grow into something, a plant probably. It is a leaf after all. Yes yes maybe I should get a pot for it. Even if the leaf is stubborn I am sure it will need some place to rest and sleep. If it does sleep...I am not sure. There are times when it doesn't move for hours, unless I physical move it and then it will sulk a bit before reattatching itself to my shirt.
I guess I should give it a name though it is hard to pick a name for ...a leafy. I keep giving it nicknames like Leafy or Leafums. Leafy most of the time for Leafums tends to get be pricked a lot. I would really like to know why this leaf choose me to stalk. I mean...keep company. It is nice despite the fact it can't speak to me but the sheer presence of it ...well it is nice. I helps me know I am never truely alone.
Though that can be a bit creepy. Knowing that I am never quite alone can keep me on my toes. Especially when I am showering or changing into new clothes. THough I shouldn't be embaressed by...a leaf... I mean it isn't like it has eyes... I feel silly about it. AH well I best go see where that leaf got to.

The heat of approaching summer made lugging around around soil and a pot a bit more of a chore than it had been in the past. Still, Shouko had gotten word of another Eden leaf and she needed to to make this delivery to it's guardian. As she walked the girl wondered as she often did what sort of child would appear from this leaf. A little while lady the pink haired girl reached her destination and quickly left behind her heavy load as well as a note. Quote: Dear Jayoku
I'm not sure if you've heard of us yet, but we're an organization called Eden Project. We believe the leaf you have found is a very special one. It will grow into a child if you take care of it. I know it sounds strange, but that's how it goes. To start the growing process you need to plant the little one. That's why I've attached a flowerpot and the soil. Every leaf seems to react different to the planting so please be gentle. Feel free to visit our headquarter near Barton Town.
Have a nice day
~Shouko

Well, my morning started somewhat normal. I have gotten use to my stalker and now have a second sense when he is around or on me. I don't get as many pricks as I use to, which is a good thing. I was getting use to having band-aids covering my fingers.
The band-aids tended to make a mess of my writing and my art...and the leaf certianly is quirky. It decided that covering my countertop with paint print leaves was a fun way to get my attention. Though I was tempted to clean up the mess...it was actually pretty a pretty interesting design but...Oild paints take FOREVER to dry. I better go clean that up before it is too late.
I rant. Anyway this morning was particularly strange since I nearly broke my toe when I opened my door. I wasn't exactly expecting a pot to be in my way. A heavy ceramic pot. Which I may add had a note attached to it.
Needless to say after reading the note I was a bit baffled. This organization new of my little stalker and even went as far as telling me it would grow into a child. I just had to plant it.
Now...I was a bit confused, how does one plant a leaf? It wasn't a seed...so did I plant it fully under the soil? Only the sprig? half and half? And this thing tended to...move around. Would it like being stuck in one place.....
Now that I think on it while mulling over the different ways I could plant it, it was this time that I noticed my stalker was missing in action. At first....I wasn't so bothered by it. Well if this leaf was finally out of my hair that was a good thing right?
But as i drug that heavy pot back into my house something nagged at the back of my head. What...is there really was a soul in that leaf? And wasn't simply something possessed? I chewed on my lower lip a good half hour before I finally went in search of Leafy.
Man...when I want to find it do you think I could? No..of course not. I searched my entire home turning it upside down trying to find the silly thing. I had to wonder...did it know that it was going to be planted? Did it KNOW that I had considered burying the stupid thing in the dirt if just to keep it out of my hair for a night. Maybe.
Honestly I felt a little bad for the leaf. I didn't treat it very well and now that it had the chance of growing into something more than a leaf...it left me. It was when I was about to toss out the letter that had come onto the pot that I finally found it.
Tucked in between some of my comic books...it looked like it had gotten stuck. How do I know this? Well it was wriggling like crazy trying to escape. I carefully extracted it from its bindings and half expected it to try and escape, but it simply layed in my hands as if it were exhausted.
So I took it to the pot, introduced it to its new home. It barely resisted as i half buried the thing. I figured it was still a leaf..it probably needed sunlight still. I then watered him placed him on a nice window ledge where it could get plenty of sun and air of course and left it alone.
The next day however, I am guessing it had recovered from being stuck the day before, it was not a happy leaf. It wiggeled and wriggeled trying to escape the confines of this new place. I was constantly having to put more dirt on it just to make sure it didn't escape.
I scolded it a couple times, telling the leaf (of all things) to be patient and that if it were patient it could grow into something magical. It seems to be working... it hasn't tried escaping for the last hour anyway.
But I will keep you posted...this will be an interesting endevor anyway.

Patience was the last thing on the leaf's mind back then and the same held true today. Although it wasn't trying to escape it's pot at the moment it had developed a new attention grabbing behavior, namely turning black and puffing up like a balloon.

It had been a couple of days since she had gotten the pot and 'planted' her leaf. Everyday she checked on the little thing, and if she had tried to 'pet' it....it seemed to snap at her as if rather annoyed and angry at its situtaion. So in return she sprayed it with her water sprayer and doused it very very well. The poor leaf heavy with water would sulk she could tell it was sulking as it wouldn't wiggle as she went past it...wouldn't do much of anything after she would do that. But it had it coming. She couldn't very well let the thing do whatever it wanted...it had to 'grow' or something after all.
This morning however...
The red head was doing her normal morning routine. Breakfast consisting of toast and a boiled egg and her ever favorite blackberry jam. Spreading it over her toast it was in mid bite that she had to do a double take. What....the...he...l..l? Standing she moved over to the pot and took a harder look. Nope...she had seen right....it....wasn't...a leaf...where was it??
Poking a finger hesitantly at the dirt she wondered if the leaf had escaped and replaced itself with this strange bulbish black like thing?? She poked it. THe skin was firm..but dipped a bit under the pressure....like a water ballon. It wasn't huge....about the size of a baseball....it was like the ..wait no...this...was the leaf???
Well the note had seen it would 'grow'...and this was certianly different that it had been. Big...blackish...well more like a purply black. She poked it again. The roundish shape only reacted as it had before. Little waves rocked its surface she was getting the feeling it was very full of...some sort of liquid...and that if she wasn't careful that skin was probably very fragile.
Blue eye's wide in interest she gave it a final gentle poke before she moved slowly away. She would go make a ...net? Something to protect the little ...er...blob...thing....she guessed she couldn't call it a leaf anymore.

Despite the several pokes it had endured the former leaf was none the worse for the wear. Although a very small pinprick sized hole had appeared and begun to leak a sweet smelling juice. Still, aside from that the plant was fine and continuing to grow threatening to spill out of it's pot.
