"In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment.
We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things,
the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when
a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new."

- Anton Ego; Ratatouille (2007)

"... I wanna be where the talk of the town
is about last night when the sun went down
And the trees all dance while the warm wind blows
in that same old sound ..."

User ImageName: Luc Cyrille.
Pronunciation: Loo.Ck Sigh-Reel.
Alias: Luc.
Stage: Child.
D.o.B: March 17th.
Sex: Male.
Vessel: Beagle.
Spirit: Industrial Revolution Mechanic who was caught in a machine.
Guardian: Olivier "Pockets" Cyrille.

Hair: Tricolored - Brown, Tan, White.
Eyes: Grease-Gray.
Build: Slender-Average.
Unique Marks: Color-Splotches on Ears; Tan-Tipped Tail.
Height: ---
Weight: ---
Attire: Mechanic-at-Work.
Habits: ---
Hobbies: Mechanics, Inventing, Reading
Dislikes: Police Officers, Angry People
Conceptual Theme: Talk of the Town - Jack Johnson.

Personality: A relentless young boy, with an avid imagination and sense of intellect. Luc comes across as rather bizarre. He loves observation, and tends to take in the world as one, big, giant picture filled with endless wonder. He is fascinated by the mechanical processes of nature and modernity; one may even say that he views such industrialization and interaction to be a living work of art. If he were more mature, the comparison could easily be drawn that society's ills are, to him, a consequential necessity to inevitably beauty and efficiency. He is a mechanic, and inventor at the core, and much of his life seems to be geared around successfully creating the many things to cross his mind - most notably the endeavor of flight. He has no aspirations of fame, actually detesting the limelight or focus on him, even if he may draw it with his uncanny filth and his overwhelming optimism or mathematical gibberish. He is very much a bright boy for his age. His knowledge of old, antique, machines, and his sense of construction are more than enough to raise a few brows, and more than enough to carry him towards baby steps of his ultimate goals. He can be obsessive, if not meticulous, about the matter, being something of a perfectionist. If the project is not right, it needs to be fixed, and he wastes little time in divulging multiple disastrous prototypes in the name of the perfect rendition of an idea, though he scarcely ever achieves anything beyond such disasters.

Happy-go-Lucky and generally naive, Luc is hardly as jaded as his associates. He rarely goes without a smile (unless he's in trouble, or angry), and he tends to be disobedient due to a lack of social understanding within his group. His sense of hierarchy appears rather skewed, though he's keen on sensing when he has done wrong or when he may need to slip away to hide. He isn't as bold as some would think, his bark tending to be far worse than his bite. Nevertheless, Luc abides loosely by the rules of homeless survival, keeping his secrets and his general life obscure rather than open. He's suspicious of adults, particularly those with many questions, and he often skirts around any inquisitions they may have for him, if not totally disregards them for silence and a stare. However, a friendly face can easily win him over, unless such a friendly face belongs to what he considers the ultimate enemy to he himself and his family: a police officer.

Luc values his life of freedom on the open road, however untraditional it seems. It is within him to defend that freedom, and what he loves, from anyone and anything that may pose a dire threat to it. He can be unrelenting, if not grudge-holding, about such matters. Though somewhat materialistic and wishful, Luc shows himself to be happy with a life of poverty, fugitive-status, and little belonging or home. Home is where the heart is, and for him, his heart belongs with his wily pack of runaways, and his workshop. He is intensely loyal, willing to stand for such things in the face of any threat, and willing to do all that he can to remain peacefully in the life he is accustomed.

"... There's a shopping cart in the ravine
the foam on the creek looks like pop and ice cream
a field full of tires that is always on fire to light my way home
And there are luxuries we can't afford
but in our house we never get bored
'cause we can dance to the radio station
that plays in our teeth ..."

Name: Olivier Cyrille.
Pronunciation: Oh.Liv.Ee.Eh Sigh-Reel.
Alias: Pockets.
Age: 20.
D.o.B: September 22nd.
Species: Human.
Sex: Male.
Occupation: Runaway
Residence: ---

Hair: Brown.
Eyes: Brown.
Build: Average.
Unique Marks: Birthmark (part of neck-to-shoulder, right side).
Height: ---
Weight: ---
Attire: Laid-Back & Easy.
Habits: Chewing on things.
Hobbies: Chess
Dislikes: Solitude, Dark / Closed Spaces, and Traitors.
Conceptual Theme: Light Up My Room - The Barenaked Ladies.

Personality: Olivier is a witty and resourceful individual. In many was, he lives his life within a game of 'cat and mouse', toying with strategy and his surroundings as if they were pieces of a board game. His philosophies appear to revolve around his game of fancy (Chess), as he tends to reference it or determine it to be the staple of his survival. His habits and beliefs often push him into doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. Within his mind, he is Robin Hood. A petty thief, outlaw, and swindler who walks the streets, pilfering and hiding for the sake of those in need. While his intentions are good, his actions are often immoral. Nevertheless, he houses no grievance of the matter and doesn't view himself as the villain in an endless tirade of ethical grays.

On average, Olivier is easy-going, though mildly tense and somewhat self-righteous or validating. Unfortunately, his temper is easy to pull. A few wrong words may end with a callous argument, feuds to last for days. While mature in some aspects, he has a problem letting things go, thus often pouts or throws tantrums when things don't go his way. The best way to describe arguments with Olivier is to say 'it's like a dead-end'. It can be a process to have him budge from a fight, though there is a sensitive streak and he can be gullible if someone knows how to tug it directly or indirectly. He's very fond of his posse, though rather perplexing with strangers, if not completely on-guard and defensive with them. He tends to be a swift-talker, but if there's one thing anyone would be able to tell, he loves his group unconditionally and hardly means them the ill that may be suspected of him. He tends to be sentimental within his own mind, though he himself views that sentimentality as a cut off for leadership or care. Though emotionally expressive, and genuinely afraid of many things, he is reluctant to admit or own up to what he really is in the driest of formats - a runaway, and a kid who just wants his freedom.

Background: The origins of his childhood are scarcely ever spoken of, therefore their details are slim. Regardless, their mention from time to time in inquiries is enough to have established grounding. Olivier was born September 22nd to a Martha and Dawson Cyrille. However, they took little interest and had soon vanished, leaving Olivier to the care of a family associate and his wife. As a boy, he was particularly bitter over the circumstance. He was defensive in front of adults and wary of promises. In many ways, he had decided for himself that 'he was an adult' and that he could be self reliant. He eventually abandoned the family associate and his wife in favor of living alone. Where he had gone? No one knew, but his picture sprang to the 'missing children's board' within a week's time.

In that respect, it was Olivier who sealed his future. He kept himself hidden, as any runaway would do, striking up his own adventures as a transient youth. He was cautious and brilliantly maneuvered, a fact which startled many he encountered. He survived on his own through swift-handedness and a quick tongue. Those awkwardly matured characteristics caught the attention of many individuals, particularly a Deli owner who had happened to disrobe Olivier's game during a thieving attempt. Said Deli owner took a fancy to Olivier, and the two engaged in multiple visitations (through which Olivier learned his game of Chess). The trust and friendship may have continued had a poster not captured the Deli owner's focus. Olivier had been gone some time. Two years at the count, but it was apparent enough who he was. The Deli owner phoned the number posted, and Olivier was caught. Once more he became oddly angry, distinguishing that he was on his own side.

Through a bit of craftiness, he escaped again and continued his adventures. After a while of pouting his betrayal, he had developed a code. He was all he had, but such plans were dampened when he had encountered a kid who had been no older than himself when he had first 'hit the road'. She was wild, fiery, and determined. In the end, the two teamed up, forming the origins of his "posse". It was around this time that the name 'Pockets' was coined (because Olivier wore a jacket with many pockets at the time). The two spent their time together, establishing a partnership which would carry on to an even younger third member. Within the present, the three still reside together under the same circumstances.

"... Just think of your friends
The ones who care
They all will be waiting there
With love to share
And your heart will lead you home ..."

[ x ] Madeline "Caps" LeClair: A wild and fiery young girl no older than sixteen years of age. Her place of origin is debatable, as her face has appeared on multiple posters as either Madeline LeClair or Annalise Kreug. However, she personally associates herself with the name Madeline, therefore it is logical to assume that is her actual identity. Caps was the first member of Pockets gang, and thus she proclaims she is his favorite. She is zealous, eager, and comical in nature. Unfortunately, she is also troublesome. Her cunning and wit are rather absent, which leaves her with a tendency of conflict. Supposedly, she vanished from Aekea at the age of thirteen. Her reasonings are unknown, but she often exclaims that 'things were boring'. Caps' nickname comes from the fact that she owns several hats and never goes without one.

[ x ] Reuben "Button" Memphis: A quiet and sheltered little boy no older than nine. He appeared one afternoon within Pockets' hideout, apparently picking buttons off of the floor to place within a box he was carrying. He does not speak, therefore not much about him is known, other than his name is Reuben Memphis, and he vanished from an orphanage in Durem.

[ x ]Max: A mysterious young boy who emerged from a book Caps had stolen from a discount bin. He wears a pair of long-john pajamas fashioned into the costume of a grey wolf. Determined to keep the responsibility, Caps cares for him with the assistance of Pockets, making Max the fifth member of the crew.

[ x ] Austin Cunningham: An investigator working in connection with several Gaian authorities to find several missing children. Austin's childhood friend went missing and was never found, striking a path that would inevitably lead him to his future career to assure no parent go through that feeling ever again. He's generally a stiff man of few words or informalities, though he's scarcely the evil individual his looming presence may suggest. He takes a personal stake in his job and can be found wandering the streets or stores to change out or put up posters of children on his case files. Though not an official member of child protection services or law enforcement, Austin is a respected contributor to each and often stands as an in-between for the two, working in either or depending on circumstances. One may consider him an honorary.

[ x ] Ms. Priscilla Orange: A plump, doggish woman. Ms. Orange is a rather rich, powerful individual; one may also wager that a few screws are loose within her head. She's incredibly meticulous and insistent, often taking matters to the extreme. Her young son, Louis, went missing, supposedly having been kidnapped by one of her maids, Lupae. She lives alone with her maids and her daughter, obsessively searching for her Louis.

[ x ] Nancy Orange: The daughter of Ms. Orange. Little is known about Nancy. She appears to be a complex girl standing between the worlds of tomboyish-ness and girl-girl-ness. It is apparent that she cares for her mother rather deeply, but harbors a great resentment for her missing younger brother. She avidly seeks Ms. Orange's attention or approval to the point of great frustration, and thus can appear rather tense, if not out-right angry at the world and everyone for her problems.

[ x ] Quincy McCormick: thoughts processing ...
