There was an air of excitement bustling around Luc as he strode forward. His blue prints were carefully tucked beneath his arm; his wrench sat coyly within his pocket, the heavy metal bouncing as joyously as his step. He could not recall such fulfillment in work. The scatter grease stains smudged against his figure, the dirt, the sweat. It was the scent of sweet ambition; it was the scent of sweet potential.
The fact that Luc had located a spot where he could commandeer supplies of better quality than the rust the Yard offered was almost too much for him. The happiness was difficult to contain, and his bound inevitably had picked up to an excited run down the busy side-walk. Businessmen and women, casual bystanders. The lot of them attended to their business, and it scarcely seemed alarming that a filthy, doggish little boy would be scurrying about on his own with a trail of mess following behind his pattering feet. He paid little heed to them, regardless, counting the buildings and eying the elaborate text outlining the nature of each little shop. There were banks, there were clothing stores, and electronic shops. Television screens flashed in windows, occasionally catching his eye - but none were so sweet and familiar than that of the scent of food. His stomach had snarled as he passed the small fast food restaurant, the likes of which shared a common alley with an old car lot. It was there where Luc's journey began. He had paused just outside of the alleyway. His nose had wriggled; his eyes had grown wide with wonder. He remembered finding interesting things in the dumpster belonging to the auto shop, and some of it had appeared potentially useful for the plane project that had been born.
Yet, his stomach argued with him. It growled. It snarled at him like a vicious beast. Soon his happy smile had been reduced to a skewed look as he glanced between the alley and the hamburger joint nestled so conveniently near it.
"Food might be a good idea..." How was he supposed to work if he was hungry?
Heaving a sigh, the Beagle-boy had lowered his blue-prints to the ground. His tail had wagged eagerly as he patted down his over-all pockets. Food sounded wonderful - but how was he supposed to eat if he had no money?
"Oh. That's right."
He should have known. There wasn't a cent to his name, and food had been purchased back at the Yard hideaway already. He couldn't run back, and he didn't want to eat a few chips or granola bars. The fresh, delicious meat within the hamburger place smelt too good for a dog's nose. "Mmm." He had pouted, folding his arms across his chest.
Maybe he could beg?
But Pockets wouldn't like that. People took beggars away forever. Luc didn't want to go away forever. "God. It smells good."

If there was anything that Bailey Bacardi was, it was active. He and his youngest brother Absinthe were out together that day to just wander around and have a good time. They'd been out for a while, the green haired toddler attempting to walk along with his brother - he was used to being carried - when they decided it was about time for food.
As they were walking up towards the burger place, however, Absinthe noticed something much more interesting. "Ooh, Doggy!" the monk child said, pointing towards Luc. "Eeeeeeeeentrestin." he informed Bailey, tugging on his elder brother's hand in the hopes of going to maybe see this other kid.

Luc was torn between the aspects of begging and not eating. His eyes had flickered all about the building as he weighed the pros and cons of each. If he begged, he'd possibly get food, but could possibly be swept up and taken away. If he didn't eat, he would be distracted and couldn't work, but he would most definitely not have to disappear forever. Oh, it was a difficult decision for a little boy of Luc's stature, and so he had turned away with a huff to pick up his blue prints. He would need to go back to the Yard and get food. That was the safest thing for him to ---
His thought process had been interrupted as his floppy ears perked high. Wide-eyed, he had stared, looking all about him curiously for where the sound had come from. Doggy? Was there a dog somewhere, or ... Well, he was a dog.
It was shortly after that acknowledgment that Luc felt he had located the sound. He had leaned, peering forward at the individuals who had began approaching the burger place.
Slowly his tail had began to wag. Beg, go home, not beg.
"Uhm..." He had pointed to himself, as if inquiring whether or not the doggy was him.

"Yes, I do believe he meant you." Bailey said, his tone calm and friendly as he and his little brother walked over. "Sinny's not the best with words. Are you okay? You look kind of hungry. We were about to go in to eat."
Absinthe was curious about this other kid. Doggy boy! How neat! And he had funny papers with him and was all dirty! How cool!

Luc's tail had drooped towards the ground. His face had grown long, etched with rigid, childish thought. There was a bit of a hum in his throat as he took a few cautious steps, sniffing at the air.
"I'm fine!" He had jumped. His tail had started wagging as a sheepish grin crossed his face. He had removed his hat from his pocket, flapping the dusty thing out to put on top of his frazzled hair. "But..." The thoughtfulness had returned to him. "I am hungry." It had been somewhat of a murmur as he looked from Bailey to Absinthe. From one to the other with methodical mannerism.
"His name's Sinny?" Sinny. It sounded like such a funny name! Though he supposed his was just as funny. Wriggling his nose, he had taken a number of steps until he stood before them. He had looked up, with round, puppy-like eyes. An instinctive begging face ensued.
"Were you guys going to eat at this place?"

"Well, it's his nickname. Mama has some strange ways to name kids." Bailey explained with a smile. "Yes we were. Do you want to come in with us?"
Absinthe smiled broadly. He was rather a sociable creature - but then, most of the family was. At least, the ones from Gaia were. And Sinny was curious about this dog boy and his funny papers. Yes! Invite him to lunch with them! Good move, Bailey!

Luc's ears had perked curiously. He remembered: never go anywhere with a stranger, but food was involved, and he didn't see the harm. It smelt delicious; the strangers seemed nice, and they hardly seemed like terrible people. If they were a danger, Luc was sure of it: he would have smelt it from a mile away.
He smiled broadly. "We have a weird names in my family too." Family seemed like a strong word, but it was the truth. It felt nice to say - but more nice to say than team, or crew.
"Can I really?" He had tilted his head in a doggish way. His papers had shifted as he looked between Sinny and Absinthe anxiously. There was something of eager excitement to his eyes and voice. "But ... I don't have money. You have to have money to eat inside, right?"

"Of course you can. I wouldn't have offered if you couldn't." Bailey laughed lightly. The boy wasn't exactly the sort who'd tease when it came to stuff like that. "And don't worry. I brought more than enough with me for the three of us to have a decent lunch inside."
Sinny nodded. "Big brother will pay." he squeaked out.

The good natured mannerisms of Bailey and Sinny were comforting. Luc wasn't sure what to say. No one had ever offered to buy him anything before - at least not a stranger he had happened to cross. "Thank you." He had spoken thoughtfully.
"You both are very nice." He had added eventually before stopping and holding his hand out to each of them. "I-I'm Luc."

Absinthe grinned broadly and shook his hand a bit - he was learning that from Bailey. When the little brother finished, the big brother repeated the gesture - his handshakes were a bit more assured and firm but not hard or hurtful.
"Well come on, let's go find a seat before they get a rush of customers or something." Bailey laughed, nodding his head towards the door.

Luc was like a giddy puppy as he shook their hands. He looked as if he may have run in a circle, or chased his tail all the way through the door when he had given it a look. "Right! Good idea!" He had declared with a yelping-bark.
Quickly, he had padded along, opening the door inside and holding it for the two brothers to pass through.

Bailey and Sinny grinned as they entered. The trio was greeted by a friendly young waitress and taken to their seats, where they were provided with menus.
Bouncing into the comfy booth they'd been given, Sinny waited for Bailey to show him what was on the menu, seeing as the small boy hadn't quite learned to read yet.

It was an exciting event. Luc had never seen the inside of one of the restaurants before. It was shimmering, new, unique! There was a hyper feeling edging within his stomach as he jolted at the friendly young waitress, and the comfortable booth. It was a frantic feeling, but equally wonderful.
"What're these?" He'd asked, holding up the menu somewhat stupidly. He had squinted at it, noting the various foods. Did they eat the thing? He had paused for a moment, opening his mouth and chomping down onto it. It was a silly assumption on his behalf to think that he could imagine a food, chomp the menu, and somehow be gifted a meal!
