After fighting off Team Galactic, I prepared for my one time fight with the powerful Palkia. (ofcourse I saved just before I went in, just to make sure I don't knock him out and lose him forev- until I get wi fi).
I start off with Luxray who used thunder fang. That took it down into yellow. Palkia used Water pulse. Not much damage.
"ok...better be careful here, he's in yellow and if I use that move one more time it could knock it out...hmm"
Luxray used crunch, down in the red. Palkia used water pulse AGAIN!
"Ok, here goes nothing" -throws a ultra ball....wiggle....wiggle...wiggle...caught-
So now as I stare in wonder at the screen which now read that I caught Palkia...my joy soon turned into disappointment. THREE TURNS?!?!?!?! WTF, I was expecting a longer fight than THAT. PLease tell me the other ones put up a bigger fight than Palkia. The three birds put up more of a fight in Blue than Pearl...I mean come on. Was it luck or have the games been knocked down a few for the ....younger people now?

No, catch rates have not been tweaked whatsoever. Still the same rates as any of the other games. What you had as luck, since I've read stories of Time Ponies and Space Penises wasting 30+ Ultra Balls and still refusing to be caught (and other legendaries, as well, like the pixies).
I personally didn't have any trouble, since I Master Ball'd everything.

[Philosophy In A Teacup] No, catch rates have not been tweaked whatsoever. Still the same rates as any of the other games. What you had as luck, since I've read stories of Time Ponies and Space Penises wasting 30+ Ultra Balls and still refusing to be caught (and other legendaries, as well, like the pixies).
I personally didn't have any trouble, since I Master Ball'd everything. lol, well unlike you, I only have one master ball and I want to save that for PokeGod. Oh god...I see it now...it does look like a p***s....I should have waited and bought Pearl. >.<

I threw 4 quick balls and reset until I caught it.
My team had nearly bled to death from the galactic battle; my rival myamoto is a jerk.

I was surprised at my own luck with the Time Pony. xp I stocked up on Ultra Balls

It was Azelf that gave me hell. xd I mean, 3 long-a** battles throwing my entire supply of
Ultra Balls, Dusk Balls, and Timer Balls, and it eventually Struggles itself to death. Dx

I spent a good 30 minutes yesterday on Uxie until this morning while I was taking a break at work. I couldn't believe it myself but I caught him, and then later today I caught Azelf while using Uxie's yawn.

i love dusk balls. they are soo worth it in caves on everything. cave + night = better catch rate?

o well, at least it effects everywhere at one point in time or another, not necessarily every Pokemon though.

I just found out today I have four pokemon with the poke virus thing. I was going to breed my Haunter that I got from a trade in game with a gastly and say a PKRS icon up. Then I checked out the other pokemon I had and found that my Steelix, Sneezle, and roselia. (all spelling errors aside) had it. YIPPIE!!!!

Quick Balls have like an x5 catch rate on the first five turns.
Throwing one on the first turn got me Dialga instantly.
I wish I had learned about natures and EV's before I started, I got a Rash Nature.
