I have experienced this my self, being the only science/ evolutionist person in my whole family. My mother keeps saying "Don't be afraid to believe in god..." To tell the truth I just find it unbelievable. If you believe in god, buhda(he's freakin awesome though), Vishnu, Ala, or the jewish guy I don't mind unless you start preaching of me being a non believer. POST UR DIE BAIT NOWZ!!!

I dun believe in anything. I just feel as though it makes you unhappy... Dunno why D:

I think I'd rather learn about different religions... It's just interesting to see how many religions there are, but I don't see myself being part of any.

First of, I'd like to establish that I'm not religious in the least.

I think that truly passing on religious beliefs is kinda like passing along all other sorts of beliefs. Fo example, political beliefs. If a parent is a Republican, he/she will generally live the things he/she believes in, right? And the kid will pick that up. Most kids have the same party affiliation as one (or both) of their parents. There are exceptions, of course.

Religion is the same thing. If the parents live by the beliefs and such of a certain religion, the kid should pick that up and also be a part of the same system. It should be as inadvertant as the kid picking up Republican viewpoints from a parent. If the parent goes to church, why shouldn't he/she take the kid along? Besides that, it's the parent's right to choose how they want their kid to be raised.

After a certain point, they can't lead the kid along anymore. Once the kid makes a choice, I think the parents should go along with it. This doesn't always happen. But, hey, whoever said we lived in a utopia?

I am a fan of traditions, which I believe religious practices to be a very important part of, and therefore the practicing of the family religion is important. One cannot easily understand that which they are not taught and it is dangerous to play with beliefs, you might end up mixing up a very dangerous concoction and insulting a deity or two.

I think that if parents are going to raise a child, in the beginning it's almost impossible for the child not to follow the parents' religion. A three year old can't choose what diety, if any, they wish to believe in. I do however, think that it should be made clear to the child that they're free to take their own path when they're ready. I think the problem lies in adults still blindly following their parents' religion.

My parents are strong Christians, and despite the fact I consider myself agnostic, and disagree with someof my parents religious beliefs, I would be concerned if my parents didn't try to push their religion on me. The fact they are so worried about my "spiritual well being", while annoying, shows that they care about my eternal well being.

My parents are christians, and I'm agnostic.
Gods and these stuff just don't suck me into, I don't care.
My religion teacher keeps bugging me and trying to get me believe in God.
    It's hella irritating. neutral

i was raised to worship christianity so i cant realy say what your parents
should do, but i can say if you can draw (like i can too...) and you wanted to become a cartoonist, drew some thing that is rated_R like and your
parents didn't approve of then who's the say you're wrong or its not god like for what you drew?

    So true.

I am not a very religious person at all. In fact, I'm exploring religions at the moment to see which one I could find myself believing in.

My parents are Christians, and although not the Church-going type, they practice their faith frequently on their own. I'm always hearing stories, and lectures about God. But my parents have always made it a point that at the end of every lectures, I know that these are their beliefs and that I am free to choose my own.

I personally think is how parents should treat religion. They should teach their children what they know, and what they've learned, because hey they're parents! But they should also give their child the room to grow as their own indiviual, with his or her own beliefs.

I think parents should let their kids decide or find out most such things for themselves.

Although I think religion can be a bautiful thing, it should not be forced apon by others.

Like, my parents aren't religous, but my dad was raised in a very religious environment.

I think religion should be decided by the individual, because religions is beliefs right? Why should you feel the need to force your beliefs on other people?

My parents both were raised Catholic, and went to a Catholic school when they were my age. My siblings were brought up the same way, and I was too, until my mom was fed up with the church and decided to take me out of the Catholic school system. I guess I could say that I was fully brought up to believe in evolution.
