Hello! I'm an English Teacher in Japan at a Japanese High School (origonaly from Seattle)

IT's been forever since I posted here ^^;

My school's Cultural Festival is coming up next month (you know, that thing you see in anime and manga all the time, where classes set up food stands, do plays amd stuff like that...)

Anyway. English Conversation Club is doing a display on American Pop Culture in Japan and Japanese Pop Culture in America.

What I have for you is a servey ^^ If some of you could fill it out I'd be soooo greatfull

1. OTHER THAN Anime and Manga, list some things you think of when you think of Japan?

3. If so, What is the main reason for your Intrest in Japan?

I'm Canadian so pretty much same diff, right?

Crazy-difficult schools, people that work hard with little reward, diversity within conformity, amazing creativity in using space~!


2. Do you have any intrest in Japan? Learing Japanese, wanting to go there, wanting to learn Japanese History...that sort of thing

I want to learn Japanese for myself since I will probably never use it except maybe if I get the chance to visit Japan some day. I'd like to learn about Japanese history too, I just need to find some good books about it.



3. If so, What is the main reason for your Intrest in Japan?
Because I love gyaru fashion/lifestyle and because I think Japanese culture and language are nice.


4. Do you have an intrest in Japan out side of Anime and Manga?

Definitely, in fact I hardly like anime and manga any more. I'm also interested in Japanese food.


5. Do you have any intrest in other Japanese Pop culture outside of Anime and Manga? Jpop/Jrock, Visual Kei, Goth-loli fashion...

Yes, I like select J-pop as well as Gyaru fashion/lifestyle. I'm also interested in Japanese trance music.


6. Do you have any intrest in other aspects of Japanese Culture? Japanese Laguague, History, Litreature, Art...

Yes, I want to learn Japanese so I can read Japanese books and I really love Kitagawa Utamaro's art. The history interests me because it's so vital to understanding some Japanese books.


7. How do you view Japan, it's Culture and it's people?

Very powered by money and products. Politeness seems to be stressed a lot, I guess that's a big difference from America. There's a lot of messed up things related to women in Japan, but hey where is there not women's issues that need to be taken care of? I find life in North America after school to be pretty bleak I think that if I was in Japan I'd find it even more so and wonder why I even studied in the first place.

2. Do you have any intrest in Japan? Learing Japanese, wanting to go there, wanting to learn Japanese History...that sort of thing I would really like to at least visit someday

3. If so, What is the main reason for your Intrest in Japan? They just have such ultra uber super cool stuff

5. Do you have any intrest in other Japanese Pop culture outside of Anime and Manga? Jpop/Jrock, Visual Kei, Goth-loli fashion... Hellz yeah

7. How do you view Japan, it's Culture and it's people? I see their culture as a mix of old and new. They are always making progress for the future yet they still celebrate and honor their roots by participating in ancient customs and traditions

1. OTHER THAN Anime and Manga, list some things you think of when you think of Japan?

* I think of the various foods I've tried (Pocky in particular, to be honest), and the fall season -- Sakura trees in the fall <3. I also think of the fashion aspects of Japan -- the amazing hairstyles you see in the JPop videos, and cultural things like Happi coats, Kimonos, and Yukatas. I also think of the Japanese instruments, particularly the Shamisen (love the sound of those). The BIGGEST thing I think of when I think of Japan is the language -- I absolutely love the language, especially the way it sounds.

2. Do you have any interest in Japan? Learning Japanese, wanting to go there, wanting to learn Japanese History...that sort of thing

* I want to move to Japan, mainly because I hear cities like Tokyo are actually able to run 24-hour long (meaning I could be a nightowl and be fine). History-wise, I don't like history. I'm going to be taking a Japanese language class next semester at my college as well, so that counts!

3. If so, What is the main reason for your Interest in Japan?

* I think I answered that in number two XD. But the reason I love Japan is because it just fits my personality, from what I've read and researched about it.

* I must, to want to move there!

7. How do you view Japan, it's Culture and it's people?

* High-tech and polite, which is a stereotype, and I know it, but eh XD I still see them that way. Too many stereotypical animes in my brain, I guess.
