I have two interesting ideas, one for a contest, and one for a radical new way of looking at an RP.
One: The contest:

THE TASK
You are to create an Roleplaying music video. It may sound odd, possibly dull, but this is your task. You are to choose a song, any song you so desire, and create an RP post that describes your character’s actions in sync with the music. Any character will do, from any storyline, so long as you either created it or have permission to use it.
THE RULES
1. You must be able to provide a working link to the song.
2. Serious business = nonsense. Have some fun if you want.
3. (When the contest is running) When you have finished your post, you may put it there. I will not accept PMed entries.
4. You must register here before posting your entry. Simply tell me who you are, what character you are using, and what song you are using. There are no divisions in this contest.
5. I shall appoint two other people as judges. These people may also participate in the contest, but they will not be able to grade their own performances.
6. A character template is NOT required. You may feel free to describe your character in your post.
7. Your post is to have cues on the left hand side, containing the time and span of the part of the song being played
8. All questions are to be PMed to me.
9. Fun or GTFO
10. Prize? Probably. Most likely to be a wallpaper/signature depicting a scene in your "video."
As an example, I have prepared this:
{Phantom of the Opera ~ Nightwish}
{Before the Song starts}A Young girl, no more than sixteen years old, has grabbed her first stage job of a lead role. A combination of her ethereal and beautiful looks, and her voice that could soothe more than just a savage beast, and yet produce tones of pure bliss. Before, one of the audition judges had asked how she learned to sing. She said she learned in her dreams, by what she could only describe as a phantom.
She sat down in a plush, blue velvet chair, and pulled it up to a desk made in the same antique style. Letting her hair fall out into a much more relaxed wave, her eyes sparkled with magic as she turned on a synthesizer, and began to play on a whim.
{The opening choir voice, and then the organ leads in, going down the almost world famous tune. (0:10-0:13) On the way back up, a guitar comes in, followed by the rest of the band. 0:14-0:25}Wielding a Steam-punk Inspired guitar, a suited man plays along with her music. Inside the suit, he wore an electric blue turtleneck, and matching glasses to hide even-bluer eyes. Hidden as an image in her just-as-antiquated mirror, he listens to her sing in her amazing, hypnotic voice.
{Read the lyrics}"In sleep he sang to me...In dreams he came. That voice which calls to me...And speaks my name" She sings to no one in particular that can really be seen. "And do I dream again...For now I find the Phantom of the opera is there...Inside my mind..." she looks behind and she sees the Phantom, who beckons her with the neck of his guitar. As she looks in bewielderment, Tuomas begins to sing.
{1:05 - 1:39: The Phantom's turn to sing.}"Sing once again with me Our strange duet" He chanted in a dark voice laced with minor lust and longing. "My power over you grows stronger yet. And though you turn from me to glance behind." He cues this last line perfectly with Juno's head looking around to see if any one notices this duet. "The Phantom of the opera is there...inside your mind" Tuomas reminds her of the songs place, but further confuses her as the mirror's glass is taken away, Leaving Tuomas standing there, truer than ever before.
{1:40 - 1:45: Short Instrumental}Tuomas leads Juno through what used to be her looking glass, into a tunnel dimly lit. Grabbing her piano, she plays along with the song, as if she was afraid to stop the song.
{1:45 - 2:17 The Question, Answer, and duet}"Those who have seen your face Draw back in fear...I am the mask you wear?" Juno asks, still singing her part, as they come to a flowing river with a small rowboat docked.
"It's me they hear," Tuomas answered as he got on the boat, still playing along as if the water's foam and mist could not even touch the guitar. As They begin their true duet, Juno climbs in too "Your spirit and my voice In one combined. The phantom of the opera is there inside your/my mind" They sang, voice echoing throughout the cavern in pale imitation of the epic voices that led them.
{2:12}Tuomas' voice is the first to return to the boat.
{2:13 -2:29}Juno's is next, followed by her whisper, "Beware the Phantom of the Opera"
{2:30 - 2:36: The Key change}The boat hits a spot of land. With a velveteen throne, a massive pipe organ, and a massive chandelier hanging above them shedding light in the pitch-darkness. The Phantom steps off first.
{2:37 - 2:47: The Phantom gets first lines this time}The Phantom backs off, and sits on his throne, still shredding upon his guitar, and singing "In all your fantasies you always knew that man and mystery..."
{2:48 -3:09}Juno sings her comprehension, "Were both in you" and she continues on, but with Tuomas singing with, "And in this labyrinth where night is blind the phantom of the opera is there inside your/my mind"
{3:10 - 3:16}"Sing my angel of music!" Tuomas commands, beckoning with his guitar to move to the Organ, to replace her modern synth.
{3:17 - 3:22}With the intstrumental, and having no reason to say no, Juno complies, sitting on an ebony stool. She dropped the synth at the sight of the ivory and ebony keys aligned upon the organ with shine, grace and fluidity. Her fingers grace the keys, and she continues to play on.
{3:23 - end}Tuomas and Juno wordlessly sing as well as play upon their chosen instruments until at the end when Juno faints form singing too long for her little body to handle. Her immense length of hair falls about her like a blanket of night to shield her from the glare of both the light and Tuomas, who is looking shocked and slightly angered.
