cool cool Update! Summer Community Reach Out event! cool cool  Win a Gwee, or other great Prizes! First Part1. Choose a banner from the Summer Banner contest thread or make one up following the Summer Banner contest rules (must have the words 'At Haven' in it, must be sent to Accio Funds or Minerva the Bookwrym for approval, you must make a 100 gold contribution to Accio Funds, etc). So you can use a ready made banner or make one of your own. 2. Post in the Great Hall a post the would be helpful to a first year. It can be anything, what you like about Haven, which threads are the most fun, which contests are your favorites (give links), what you like, etc. Each post must use good grammar, spelling, etc. and be more than two sentences, at least a paragraph to qualify. We'd appreciate at least two paragraphs. 3. Put a summer banner in your post OR in your signature. 4. Number your post. Also, name which house you're in your post and be sure to check the post above you to make sure you haven't skipped a number. Your first post in the Summer Reach out Event is worth 5 House Points! To clarify, your FIRST post in the Great Hall following the above gets you 5 points. Subsquent postings, as long as you have a summer banner and at least 2 paragraphs and number your post will get you additional chances to win your choice of the following spectacular prizes! On or about September first we'll have a drawing of all eligible posts. The winner will have your choice of 1) A Gwee! 2) a pink/orange sea urchin for their aquarium (currently can be seen happily urchining in LHH's tank bottom right) 3. Assassin's Guise 4. And now for something cool and slimy to off-set the summer heat! Never thought we'd say it but we have had a succession of seriously cool and fun loving Slytherins in the past--who have graduated. Slytherins have finished last the last 4 House Cups running. We need more active Slytherins! So we've come up with a contest...." mrgreen mrgreen Snakey Summer Recruitment Contest mrgreen mrgreen  Slytherin hasn’t been giving the other Houses a run for their galleons in the House Cup competition, and that is not the Slytherin way! We need more active members in the serpentine House, and what better way to find them than to involve the other Houses as well? razz
PRIZES:
5 House Points to those who invite 10 people.
10 House Points to those who invite 25 people.
15 House Points to those who invite 30 people or more.
Raffle winner:
-All Haven’ers that invite at least 10 people will be entered to win the raffle.
-The winner receives an additional 5 House Points and his/her choice of any ONE item in H&R Wesley that costs up to 10,000 gold, so that includes the new Missibelle dresses.
-If the winner wants an item from H&R Wesley that is above 10,000 gold, then he/she may send the additional gold required to purchase it from his/her account to Accio Funds.

Cyanide11 of Hufflepuff
chose the Assassin's Guise as her prize. It's been delivered to her by 2 dark and anonymous eagle-owls in a dark alley. As you can see, Gwee is with me for the time being, and will be offered again in another contest soon. Not a moment too soon for me - baby dragons are A LOT of work! Cyanide11 wins an additional 10 points for her house as well!

Slytherin recruiting is still slithering along
as is our Fan Fiction Contest for James Potter stories.
Chikamio of Gryffindor just submitted the latest entry. If you haven't visited the Library corridor where the entries are...well do so! There are some good stories there, though none yet about James Sirius Potter, who is also eligible. You just might get inspired to write one, or find one!

It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, so It’s time for a… biggrin biggrin Harry Potter Limerick Contest! biggrin biggrin
Send 100 gold to Accio Funds to enter. Everyone that enters earns 5 House Points!
What is a limerick?
Limericks are funny Irish poems with 5 lines, each one a certain number of syllables:
8 syllables
8 syllables
5 syllables
5 syllables
8 syllables
The lines that are 8 syllables rhyme with each other, and the lines that are 5 syllables rhyme with each other.
Here’s an example (author unknown):
There once was a man from Peru
Who dreamed he was eating his shoe.
He woke in the night
With a terrible fright
To find it was perfectly true.
rofl
You might notice in this one the pattern goes 8, 8, 5, 6, 8 instead of the standard 8, 8, 5, 5, 8. Poets sometimes take creative license, and you can too as long as only one line is off the correct syllable count.
The rules:
Write your own original limerick that is somehow related to Harry Potter. It could be about any of the characters, relationships, places, scenes, etcetera.
Post your entry (only enter one limerick) in the HP Limerick Contest Thread by St. Patrick’s Day, Wednesday, the 17th of March. You may edit your entry as often as you wish before that date.
Label your post with a number. If you are the first person to post an entry, then put a 1 above your poem. If you’re the fifth entry, then put a 5 above your poem. Etcetera.
The Winner:
I will roll dice in this thread to determine the winner a day or two after the 17th. (That’s why all of the people entering have to number their posts. wink )
The winner will receive an extra 10 House Points and 2,000 gold from Accio Funds.
