Slytherin hasn’t been giving the other Houses a run for their galleons in the House Cup competition, and that is not the Slytherin way! We need more active members in the serpentine House, and what better way to find them than to involve the other Houses as well? razz

What are the rules?

Post portkeys (banners) on the profiles of Gaia members that are interested in Slytherins and have logged on in the past seven days. Put the following message above the portkey in your profile comment:

I see you're a Harry Potter fan. Me too! I'd like to invite you to take the portkey below to visit The Haven for Harry Potter Fanatics guild so that you may find folks of your kind, and participate in our events and contests! ^_^ They don’t accept everyone that applies, so I wish you the best of luck because I hope to see you there!

List in this thread everyone whose profiles you have posted a Haven portkey on so that multiple Haven’ers don’t invite the same person. Every time that you invite another member do not make an additional post in this thread; edit the post that you already have here that contains your list.

What is a portkey?

A portkey is an image that you click on to bring you somewhere on the web instead of clicking a link with words. Essentially, it is a banner.

Here are 3 portkeys that Minerva the Bookwyrm made specifically for this recruiting contest, and sized to fit in profile comments, along with a few others. Feel free to use them, or click to find any other Haven Banners that are Slytherin-based. You could also make your own banners and get them approved by a Head of House or LadyHealingHands to earn House Points. whee

How do I find Gaians interested in Slytherin?

Hover over the “Community” option on the bar beneath your avatar. A box of links will pop up. Select “Search.”

Choose to search “by username” or “by interest tag.” Type something Slytherin-ish into the search bar, such as Slytherin, Pureblood, Parselmouth, Parseltongue, Snape, Malfoy, Lucius, Draco, Narcissa, Severus, Bellatrix, Voldemort, Salazar, Bloody Baron, Death Eater.

Many members of Gaia will be shown in the results. Click on an individual that is not already listed in this thread as having been given a portkey. (You may want to have this thread opened in another window so you won’t have to memorise all of the usernames.) Leave a comment on his/her profile that contains the designated words and a portkey.

What if the Gaian I click on doesn’t have a public profile or doesn’t allow comments?

Find a different member to give a portkey to. Private members like that can be difficult for the Haven’s mods to get in touch with. They will need to change their setting to allow comments on their profile. After all, they can delete any they don't want!

Can I invite members with non-Slytherin names/interests as long as they’re interested in Harry Potter?

Certainly, you may! biggrin Keep in mind, though, that Slytherins are what we really need, so don’t list members that aren’t Slytherin-lovers in this thread because they won’t count towards your score.

Are there any prizes?

Of course! wink

5 House Points to those who invite 10 people.
10 House Points to those who invite 25 people.
15 House Points to those who invite 30 people or more.

Raffle winner:

-All Haven’ers that invite at least 10 people will be entered to win the raffle.
-The winner receives an additional 5 House Points and his/her choice of any ONE item in H&R Wesley that costs up to 10,000 gold, so that includes the new Missibelle dresses.
-If the winner wants an item from H&R Wesley that is above 10,000 gold, then he/she may send the additional gold required to purchase it from his/her account to Accio Funds.

When is the contest over?

We should never stop trying to recruit new members for ALL of the Houses, cool but we will close the contest midnight PST on September 15, and draw the raffle winner a day or so later, so make sure to have given out 10 (or more) portkeys to potential Snakeys by then.

The rules above say, you are free to invite any HP lover, but not to list people that aren’t Slytherin-lovers in this thread because they won’t count towards your score. #14 does not count, She has no Slytherin like name and has one of the most non-Slytherin profiles I've ever seen. However, I'm really glad you invited her, because she does have one of the best profiles I've seen and she's a definite HP Fanatic potential member!

You are getting credit for #10, whom I personally know, (and is a very non-Slytherin type) because her profile says "This place needs more Black"- which has several interpretations-LOL, she's dressed in green, and has the marvelous Scary Mary video on her profile.
Also, you are receiving an extra 5 points for a well written, creative and articulate extension of the basic invitation:

"Hey. I see from your username and profile that you are a fan of Harry Potter, as am I. So I am inviting you to join the Haven for Harry Potter Fanatics Guild here on Gaia, as we are in need of new members. One further note: The URL code is truly a portkey, not an image. Once you post it on a profile, you can run your cursor over it and you'll see it change to a link indicator. Or, once posted, you can click it. smile
