Personality Traits:
Flirtatious: She will flirt with anyone. Don’t take it seriously, she’s just fond of flirting. She especially likes flirty teasing with good friends.
Temperamental: She is prone to very sudden mood swings. She might be in a great mood, but someone says ONE thing wrong, and she might suddenly be angry or depressed, at the drop of a hat.
Generous: Other than a few, select personal treasures, Hika isn’t overly attached to things that she doesn’t specifically need, and is prone to giving things she owns to people she likes. Mind you, what she calls a need can be a little different than what others might call a need.
Greedy: And on that note, she is, conversely, greedy about the things she believes she needs, such as her makeup and her jewelry collection. She NEEDS them, don’t you understand?

Personal History:
Hikaru was born in Japan, and lived there until she was 4. Shortly after her fourth birthday, however, her Father was sent to work at the Consulate in San Francisco, California. As such, her entire family was uprooted, and they moved into an apartment in their new city. They hired her a nanny who spoke only English, to help her adjust. Her parents had always ignored when she spoke about ‘shadows’ as ‘Childish imagination’ and dismissed it, but her Nanny told her she was seeing things, and should stop talking about it.

She ended up growing up in the city of San Francisco, completing her school career there, and when she graduated from High School at 17, she was accepted into UC Berkeley, on a scholarship. Shortly after this, she came out to her parents as Transgender. Her father was furious, her mother was accepting. They kept her on the medical insurance, however, as long as she was going to school, but forbade her from using it to get any sex change related medical care. She ignored the restrictions, but kept it secret, so that she began transitioning in her third year of college. She set up appointments to begin hormone therapy for just after she graduated, as a reward to herself.

At this point, her parents cut her off, but she had gotten another scholarship, to work on a Master’s in Bioengineering. She was working hard on it, but needed income to help her support herself, as the scholarship was not enough. She went out to find a job, and was hired to work in a lab. And she slowly was going nuts, soon after. They never let her do anything interesting, her direct supervisor was secretly anti-trans, and she had two coworkers who hit on her regularly, despite being told no, and her parents refused to talk to her. And all along, she had been seeing those shadows, though she had tried to deny it to herself the whole time.

She was considering going back to Japan, or giving up on life, and that’s when the recruiter came to her. She was told she might even get a chance to do experiments, and make a difference in the lives of those she worked with.

She figured she had nothing to lose, so she packed up, and left.
