NAME Ferdinand Grimm AGE 21 OCCUPATION officially, clerk; unofficially, a fop FAMILY Ferdinand is the third son of a large brood of children belonging to an extensive crime family, whose largest operations are in smuggling. It's said that a branch of their family owns land on the coast and has links to actual pirates.
POSITIVES Optimistic, upbeat, open-minded NEUTRALS Observent, detail-oriented NEGATIVE Easily distracted, extremely vain, greedy
APPEARANCE Third eldest of the Grimm Brood, Ferdinand is younger then Jacob and older then the twins by four years in either direction. Like the others, he has brown hair and brown eyes, but unlike the rest of the Grimms, that is where the similarities end. His hair is the same golden brown as his brother Jacob, but seems to float about his head in gentle waves, and endless hours of care and a series of expensive products ensure that every curl begs to be touched. Though it would be simple to say that his eyes are brown, that would also be an injustice, for like his hair they are touched with streaks of a lighter color that seems almost golden in hue. He is tan, though not so brown-of-skin as Ghastly, and he commonly plays off of his own coloration by wearing more golden jewelry then is generally considered appropriate for a man. Great care is plainly taken with his clothing as well as every aspect of his appearance, and he carries himself with the pride of a man who knows just how handsome he is.
Also unlike the rest, there is a surprising fragility to Ferdinand that suggests he does not undertake the strenuous fighting that his siblings seem so eager to pursue. He is often mistaken as being younger even then the twins, a fact which they take endless enjoyment in.
PERSONALITY Those accustomed to dealing with the arrogance and heavy-handedness of most of the Grimms will find themselves startled by Ferdinand, who is in so many ways unlike his siblings. He is cheerfully optimistic about everything, shockingly open-minded where others are concerned, and though he is as the others loyal to his family and protective of his siblings, he does not hold the disdain that Jacob and Ghastly hold for those not of their line. Flattery is his favorite weapon, cheerful laughter his favorite shield; he would sooner deflect and confuse then confront. In truth, he loves being around people, loves attention, and loves nice things with a raw greed that at times has made him susceptible to bribery.
Underneath the light-hearted carelessness he presents to the world, he is every bit as calculating as the rest of the Grimms, doing his best to extract the maximum benefit from most scenarios, particularly those involving money. He also absolutely despises being alone, rarely sleeping in his own bed, preferring to seek the company of another rather then face a single night alone. If he has his way, his lovers are often wealthy, and he has quietly blackmailed more then one married noble if their gifts during the relationship proved inadequate to sate his greed.
SKILLS Most people who meet Ferdinand assume he is the younger son of a wealthy family, destined to spend his life frittering away whatever money he is given. He likes to talk about silly things, like fashion and music hall shows, and keeps current on all clothing styles for men and women. In reality, he works as a bank clerk in a very prestigious office a few days a week, and functions as his family's source of information on the rich and the powerful. He is often used by Jacob to conduct negotiations on behalf of his family, partly because he is almost always underestimated. It is extremely likely that he works with Jacob to keep track of the family's finances, and though he doesn't like it to admit it, he is incredibly good with money, speculation, and keeping track of the financial markets.
HISTORY Ferdinand is third-eldest of the Grimm family, falling in between Ghastly and the Freds. With his older brothers, he was partly responsible for raising the younger siblings -- the twins, Georgie, and Charles. Until their mother passed on, Ferdinand was also something of his mother's pet, for although all of the children looked up to her in their own ways, she was not what most would think of as a 'maternal' person. But Ferdinand she babied and spoilt, and in turn he often tended her needs, learning more then the others about a softer side of life as she began to despair of ever having a daughter. In truth, this was no more or less calculated then the raising of the twins to emphasize their sameness, and from the beginning Ferdinand knew he was being groomed for a path different from his siblings. This did lead to a certain amount of rivalry growing up, but little more then lingering irritation seems to have survived into adulthood.
Ferdinand follows power: wherever the fashionable elite goes, he tends to follow, and has of late been seen watching Chosen and their Guardians with a thoughtful air.

Possibilities Often FoundGenerally found in the company of others, it's rare to catch Ferdinand alone. He works as a clerk in a nice office, and even coming or going will try to travel with someone else. He spends a lot of time in nice taverns, shops, and at social gatherings trying to find new lovers, and the longer he's been without the more likely he is to look outside of the higher circles. OpportunitiesFerdinand has a growing interest in the Chosen and their Guardians, particularly any of those who look like they are gathering followers -- he sees their popularity as a power imbalance and is interested to see where they will end up in the political arena. He is drawn by physically attractive people and those openly displaying signs of wealth and in the absence of either is extremely vulnerable to flattery. Though not always recognized as a Grimm, those who may know who and what he is have been known to seek Ferdinand out as the easiest route to influencing the Grimm family -- or, at least, the least dangerous route.
