History: Zeren was born to Trader parents, they moved from Minor hold to Minor hold, generally avoiding the holds of the higher lords. They had two children, Zeren and his sister Anira, unfortunatly Anira was killed in a rockfall just after Zeren was born, and as a result he always felt his parents comapred him to her. His parents often commented on how he looked just like his sister, his manner was his sisters, most of the time he felt like he was just a substitute, that they kept him around only because of his resemblance to her. This made him almost withdrawn and he tended not to communicate beyond what was necessary. However as a child he loved to socialise with the younger ones, they didnt judge him by who his sister was, to them, he was simlply Zeren, and he got into alot of games, and trouble by leading them on 'adventures' around the caravans, when confronted by adults, he would never meet there eyes and usually only mumbled apologies, being too proud to do otherwise. Once he came of an age to work with his family, rather than play with the other, younger, children this change, as he had to learn, fast, alot of different things, which involved asking questions and suchlike, but he was still rather standoffish. His family were staying at a minor hold for a few days when his father was injured by a herdbeast he was tending in return for their stay. This meant that they were unable to move on as soon as they usually did, and as a result Zeren was employed by the herder to tend the herdbeasts instead of his father. While there he befreinded one of the female canines used to guard the herds in the daytime. He was present when she had a little of pups and was given charge of one that she rejected, the herder having noted his affinity with animals.
He trained hard with the pup over the course of several months, and was asked to stay in the employ, after his father was recovered to re-join the caravans, His parents at once said No, and that he wold be moving on with them, not considering that Zeren actually wanted to stay, However they allowed him to travel to the Major hold to deliver some herdbeasts with the Head Herder. While he was there he met another lad with whom he had a light relationship with.
He was tending to his canine by giving it a walk through the surrounding lands of the hold when the Dragons came, he rather slowly made his way back to the hold, just as the Dragons were preparing to leave. One large blue stopped and turned its jewel eyes upon him, it was then he felt a tugging feeling, like he had somewhere he had to be. The rider told him that his dragon had serched him, and asked if he wanted to go, Zeren dumbly nodded, and gathered up his things (which wasnt much at all). He felt his heart break as he handed the Herder the leash to the canine, making him promise that it would be taken care of. His parents, wanted to refuse to let him go, but there was no denying that if a Dragon searched you it was a high honour and so they allowed it. With that, Zeren left everything he knew and went with the Dragons to the Weyr.
He is only recently searched and as yet is very unsure of what the protocols are.
Description: Zeren is of average build, his features are nothing special, he is not particularly handsome but neither is he dull. His hair black and long, it is slightly wavy most noticable near the bottom of his hair where it tends to curl outwards slightly. His eyes are a dark golden brown, flecked with tiny specks of blue, but to see them, you would have to be VERY close indeed. His shoulders are broad and his voice is smooth and reassuring. His Garb is functional to a point, they're well kept but sometimes they show the results of his time with the furry creatures of the Weyr, he wears his candidare knots with semi pride. His clothes are often creased as he often cant be bothered with keeping them put away neatly.
Personality: Zeren seems to be a very closed person, often appearing aloof, sometimes downright rude in his behaviour. However, it was how he dealt with feeling lost, and small compared to the mighty Dragonriders, and their Dragons. This said, he was always very unsure of himself and often be found around animals as they didnt judge him. He rarely opens up to his feelings, and only recently realised he preferred male company, and is yet, inexperienced. He often appears to make friends easily, but this is only superficial, he has no true friends, as he just doesnt trust anyone enough to show his true feeling to. His so called 'friends' are merely people he talks to often about Weyr life and Canditate chores he rarely talks about himself, and will often walk away from the crowd if such subjects arise. He is hardworking though and likes to be busy and hates being lazy, since, if he is busy with something he doesnt have to socialise, often he will take on the more unpleasant tasks simply because they are ones that require little interaction. Zeren is a very cautious lad, and very quick to take offense at a seemed insult or slight but his major fault is his inabilty to trust people, he feels that the lower creatures of Pern are much better company. He often feels the 'shadow' of his sister hanging over him, as his parents wrote to him asking how Weyr life was, he felt sure that they thought he would never Impress and that he'd be returning to them soon.
Other: He is very much an animal lover, but he isnt squeamish about killing for food as long as it is humane. He prefers to spend his time with the creatures of the weyr rather than the people.
