Alrighty then children, the Summertime 2010 Challenge is back! I know that people will be travelling this summer and otherwise unavailable, but I also want to get the guild back up and running (and I apoligize for the huge gap. I never imagined graduation would be so time consiming!):
So here's my solution. All three summer months will now fall under one challenge.
Challenge Thirteen: Summer Boogaloo Mk.2
This challenge will end at 12:00 p.m. on August 31st.
Between now and then you must comlete any of the folowing 10 prompts:
1 - One haiku (+10 if you submit a tanka)
2 - One limmerick
3 - One character introspective oneshot
4 - One action driven oneshot (i.e. no characters moping about. Think fight scene.)
5 - Start one original work of fiction (+10 for well-researched historical fiction or compelling mystery)
6 - Complete one original work of fiction (Same as above)
7 - Start one fanfic (+10 for a plausible crossover)
8 - Complete one fanfic (Same as Above)
9 - Write a oneshot series
10 - Write a song/ballad/musical ensemble. (+5 for including the instrument/instruments with which the piece should be performed.)
The coolest part about this Summer Challenge, you ask? Why the competition! This contest is what all fo the year's works lead up to. (and it can result in a huge jump in guild standings). There will be point values attatched to each possible submission, and there in no limit to possible points.
(P.S. should you publish a novel over the summer, you win. Automatically.)
Scoring:
1.) Ten points per poem
2.) Ten points per segement (if you make a story out of them, you get 10 for each rhymed section, not 10 for the whole work.)
3.) 15 points per oneshot
4.) 20 points per oneshot
5.) 15 points per chapter
6.) Points per chapter +20.
7.) 15 points per chapter
8.) Points per chapter +20
9.) 10 points per chapter (since it's unlikely to be completed)
10.) 25 points.
Bonus Points:
- Reviews: You get 1 point for each review your story gets, and 2 for every review over the first hundred. So, a story with 60 reviews get 60 pts, and one with 160 gets 220 points.
-Meeting individual requirements for each prompt (see above beside prompt. Bonus points are coded BLUE)
- Member Voting (each member vote is worth 2 points. So if 4 people vote for your piece, you get 8 points whether you win the category or not.) Members may pick up to 3 pieced for each category.
