WHO IS GONZALES?
N O I T C A N ' T B E

Other had a day off, a very rare thing indeed considering the girl often liked to volunteer to stay for extra hours not because of the money but purely because she knew she'd be helping her employer and doing something productive. Today was all Other's, completely her own, she didn't even have plans with Val today. What was she going to do with herself today?! Maybe...maybe go to the bookstore? She gasped softly to herself, suddenly remembering that 'game' Val had agreed to; she was allowed to guess what his pen name was! What better way to do that than to go to a bookstore and browse the non-fiction section and browse its selection for an autobiography about an oddly named man's school life? Surely there couldn't be too many books like that.

Hopefully.

Humming cheerfully to herself, Other left the house and walked into town and to the bookstore with a bit of excitement. This was going to be fun! It'd been awhile since she thought about their little game, and she had yet to actually go out and look for this mysterious book of his. It wasn't a big deal, she adored him regardless of knowing his pen name, but it would be nice to be let in on that little part of Val’s life. She'd...she'd love him even if she didn't know. She actually stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, breathless and with her hand over her heart and a bright blush on her cheeks. Love? Did...did she love Val? She bit down on her bottom lip and took a deep, shaky breath to calm herself as she started walking again, making it to the bookstore a lot quicker than she usually did..her pace had quickened to match her heartbeat. Once she was inside she made a beeline for the non-fiction section, gasping and blushing even harder as she passed a green-haired man and a tiny redhead making out quite passionately two aisles from where she wanted to be. O-oh my! They didn't even seem to care that they were in the middle of a store! In public! And...and...would she and Val ever kiss like that? She made a tiny 'Geep!' sound and covered her mouth with both hands, her eyes wide as they looked over the rows of books. Biographies, autobiographies, memoirs...there were so many! This was going to be hard! Maybe she'd just skim through the summaries for every book here that had a name that seemed odd. Yeah! That'd work! Even the female ones because...well...you never know? Val had never said it was a male name so she wasn't going to take her chances. Maybe she'd even go see him tonight and pose her guesses! Let's see, who first...Swan Carlos? That was a funny name! Other giggled as she picked that book off the shelf first, opening the front cover to read over the summary and then the back cover to see if maybe there was a page with a picture and short spiel about the author. Hm...there was a picture, but this guy was big and burly and looked Spanish. He also seemed to have...ears like a tiger.

This was definitely not Val.

Next book!

Lupis Lazulia? Oh, that was a woman. Her book wasn't solely about school life either. Val's was, she was assuming. Memphis Zepher was about school life and he or she didn't have a picture! She held that book against her chest and kept looking, gasping suddenly when she swore she heard a giggle and a tiny 'Not so hard, Cray~' in the aisle behind her. She clutched the book so tightly her knuckles whitened, her face reddening with embarrassment as she tried her very hardest to ignore any future sounds from behind her. Ohgodwerethey...? They...they totally were, weren't they?! She had to hurry and find as many books as she could before things got too scandalous for her to listen! So...those two back there were...they were having sex? Right there in the store? But...but how could they...she heard one of them tell the other 'Oh, god, I love you' and it made her heart thump painfully. So they were doing this because they loved each other so much? Was that what couples were supposed to do? Was that something she and Val were supposed to do? Did he...did he want to do that kind of thing with her? He was a man, after all, and he had his needs but she wasn't sure if she could get herself to do that kind of thing. The very idea was making her heart race and her head feel light, catching herself on the shelf as her knees buckled just a little. This was silly! She was getting herself nervous over nothing! She bit down nervously on her lower lip and stared intently at a book titled Guilty: How I Survived Gino High by a Gonzales Freedman. That fit all the criteria she was looking for! But she'd heard about this book, and she’d heard about this author. This book had caused a great deal of commotion at that school; lots of people had lost her jobs, it was a book of scandal and truths. This Gonzales man was a horrible person for releasing a book like this. There was no way...

If there was no way then why was Other picking the book off the shelf, and why was she taking it to the checkout with the other book she had picked out? She glanced down that aisle out of morbid curiosity, but that couple was gone. She was a bit relieved by that, honestly glad that they had taken their...playing...elsewhere. That kind of thing really should be done in private if done at all. Other blushed again and walked to the checkout where a slightly miffed clerk was returning to the cash register from the front door, muttering something about 'damn kids'. When he saw little Other at the counter he brightened up and grinned at the young lady. "Hello, Miss. Find everything okay?"

"Um, y-yes..." Other said as she put the two books down for the man to ring up. He looked fairly surprised to see this young lady getting these books, the one by Mister Freedman in particular, but he didn't question it. She looked so meek; asking her why she was getting this book may embarrass her way too much. The books were rung up and bagged, and Other handed him her credit card to pay for the books. "Um! Do...do you allow returns? I-it's just that I...I might bring one of them back." She blushed. "I just need them to answer a question is all..." The man rose a brow but didn’t pry, this woman looked embarrassed enough as it was.

"As long as the book is in good condition I'll buy it back for its value." Other smiled and took back her credit card with a tiny 'thank you'. "Have a good day, Miss! I hope you get your answer!" He called out as she nodded politely to him and left. Once she was outside she practically ran home as quickly as she could. It didn't take her long; she was determined to get home as quickly as she could. She sat down on her couch when she arrived, taking out the book by Memphis first and checking its front and back covers. Nothing particularly groundbreaking. Maybe if she actually read it. Not like she had anything else to do this afternoon. Other brought a light blanket down from her room and snuggled under it on the couch, settling down to read about this Memphis person's school life. It wasn't really all too exciting; there was some drama and a lot of humor. A lot of it. She didn't know anything about Val's past so...maybe...it seemed lighthearted enough for the Val she knew. When she finished that book she looked slowly at the other book. Did she really want to read it after all the horrible things she had heard about it? If it was his book then she would have some insight into his past but...the person who wrote this book was a horrible person. A person she definitely could never see herself associating with on any kind of pleasant terms. She glanced at her phone, deciding whether she wanted to call Val first and give her guesses before possibly wasting her time with a book that couldn't possibly be his work. It just wasn't possible! She would call him first and ask if he wanted to come over. Simple enough. She picked up her phone and pressed the speed dial for Val's number, snuggling into her blanket and resting her head on the pillow she was leaning against the arm of the couch.

"..Oh! H-hi Val! Um...I'm fine! Just...sitting and reading some books. What books? N-nothing special, ju--eh heh, I am...well um...I...I was wondering," Other swallowed hard. "If, um, you wanted to come over? Just you, I mean. Not that Miranda can't come too! It's...it's just that I...I wanted to talk to you? N-no! Don't sound nervous like that! It's nothing bad, I promise." She smiled softly at the answer she got, blushing a little as her heart skipped a beat. It always started fluttering whenever she was given time alone with Val. "I'll see you then. Bye, Val.." She was very tempted to add an 'I love you' to the end of that but she just couldn't bring herself to say it. It made her so nervous. Other hung up and dropped the phone beside her on the couch, pulling the blanket closer over her as she waited for him to arrive. This was either could to end very well, or very badly...she was sure it'd turn out fine. This was Val! Her Val! He could do no wrong.

I LOVE YOU
N O M A T T E R W H A T

His end of the phone conversation went pretty innocent but with small notes of concern, "Hey...You alright? Well okay...Sounds like a fun afternoon haha. What'd you read? Nothing special, huh? You sure you're even reading?" He teased lightly, and waited for her to get her question and tilted his head. Just him? That wasn't a completely strange request he had come to her house by himself before but the last time he did that it was to meet a friend of hers.

..That went splendidly. Still this seemed different, "Sure I'll drop Miranda off at her aunt's. Is it about something I did wrong?" He furrowed his brow a bit maybe he had inadvertently hurt her? He couldn't help but feel a little nervous the way she was speaking so serious and nervous it made him feel a little jumpy. He relaxed when she assured him it was nothing bad and promised as much. "I'll see you in a few. Bye, Other~.

Valeri hung up and got Miranda ready for an overnight over at her aunt's and got his own things ready to go visit Other. When Val arrived at Other's place it was sometime in the afternoon as he reached up a hand and lightly knocked at her door and then waited for her to answer. Sure they were dating but he wasn't comfortable enough to just walk in like he owned the place.

She felt bad for making him worry that the reason she wanted to talk to him was because he did something wrong, when really it was nothing like that in the slightest. Other had put both books on the coffee table so she could get more comfortable on the couch while she waited, closing her eyes and humming a song she was supposed to be practicing right now, but she knew it well enough that it could wait a few hours. Maybe she'd play just for Val tonight too after giving him her guesses. The warmth of the blanket combined with her humming and the quiet of the house except for the ticking of a clock made her doze off rather quickly while she was waiting for Val, startling awake when he knocked on the door. Huh?! Oh...oh! Val was here!

Other pushed off the couch and stumbled to her feet, fixing the black and yellow dress she was wearing as she hurried to the door and opened it without a moment's hesitation. She smiled brightly up at Val, looking much more innocent and natural than she had when she'd forced him to meet Sally without informing either person beforehand. "Hi!" She chirped up at him, letting him in and closing the door. At least this time there was no one else waiting for him with her in the living room, meaning he was safe from surprise introductions! She held his hand once he was inside, slipping her fingers between his and tilting her head. "This is okay, right? I-it's just I...I really wanted to talk to you about something!" He'd made a promise, after all!

Val laughed a bit at her cheerful greeting as he limped his way on in, his backpack still on his shoulder. He let her take his hand as he leaned and brushed a light kiss against her cheek, it had started to become a customary greeting for him when he came in contact with her, "Heya," he replied as he walked with her to the living room with a bit of an idle 'hmm' exiting his throat as he listened to her and gripped her hand in return. For the most part he didn't pay much mind to his surroundings as he trusted her despite the surprise the last time he came to see her.

"This is fine, I always like to come see you," he said softly with a small smile, it was true, "even if I might be in trouble." Valeri teased lightly. He couldn't help but feel as if he was in trouble in some fashion - not that he was pessimistic, but trouble often followed in some form or another. New girlfriends were no exception. "What'd you need to talk about, sweetheart?" Val asked taking on a more serious tone.

Other returned the kiss to the cheek, nuzzling her face in close as he greeted her. Ooh, he smelled nice! Did he always smell this nice? Hmm! She gave him another small kiss on the cheek before she led him to sit with her on the couch, waiting for him to be comfortable before she sat close with her head on his shoulder. The hand she was holding was laid on her lap for now, her thumb lightly rubbing his hand.

"I'm glad." She murmured softly, glancing down at the books on the table in front of them as he teased about possibly being in trouble. Huh? What? But why would he be in trouble?! Other blinked and stared up at him with surprise, blushing after a moment and ducking her head. Pfft, as if Val could be in trouble with her. She adored him too much to care about any flaws he had in a negative light. Val was the perfect Val! And there was nothing that could possibly change her opinion. Other had actually been about to bring it up herself when Val decided to ask why she asked him to come over, looking up at him with a tiny smile of pride. Well, she was going to ask him if he wanted a drink or anything first and then ease into the topic but if he insisted!

"I went to the bookstore today! An..and I um, I found a few books." She was hoping it was the book she had read and not...and not the other one...that one she would be more than happy to return to the bookstore. "I..you said I could guess." That was when she tilted her head at the table where the book by Memphis Zepher and the book by Gonzales Freedman sat. Oh please, oh please, be Memphis Zepher! "There were a lot of strange names, but only these two were about...school life..." She chewed nervously on her lip and stared up at Val. Should she tell him her guess now or gauge his reaction first?

"Uh...i-is it Memphis Zepher?" Please! Pleasepleaseplease! Say yes!

He liked to get straight to the point and to say he wasn't curious as to what this was all about would have been an outright lie in itself. When she turned her head to glance down at the books he looked as well and stared at them both. One in particular was very familiar to him and suddenly his face fell a little. Oh great she read the book and now she wanted to break it off because she saw how much of a jerk he was once. She wanted to break it off with him and never see him again.

Val only half heard her for a few moments before it finally clicked that she didn't quite realize which was which yet. So that's why two of them were out on the table. She had narrowed down the field, so to speak. That didn't make it much better because even though she had guessed wrongly he couldn't lie to her and say that Memphis Zepher was him. It would have been a horrible insult to her as well as him. He quietly gripped at his cane as he sat there with her and quietly shook his head, "No Memphis Zepher is not me, Other," he smiled a bit and tried to hide his worry and his fear, "That's one guess."

This was it; this was going to be when Val would tell her that he was indeed this oddly named Memphis Zepher person. After that she would make him dinner, and they would spend a happy night together, maybe watch a movie and just cuddle until they fell asleep! That idea sounded wonderful to Other. So she waited patiently, her heart fluttering wildly and a very hopeful smile on her face. This game hadn't been so hard after all! Maybe she should have asked for fewer hints to give herself a little challenge! Haha!

...Wait...

Wait no! No! Don't shake your head, Val! Her smile faltered for a moment as her eyes widened, his words sinking in like a big rock in a lake. He wasn't Memphis Zepher? But that only left...no! No, that wasn't possible! There was no way Val was that horrible person! She swallowed hard and squeezed his hand, a look of panic briefly crossing over her face. There had to be more books, that bookstore just didn't have all the choices! There was...no...no!

"G..Gonzales Freedman?" Other asked in a tiny voice, staring at Val with wide eyes. Val wasn't Gonzales Freedman, there was no possible way! This was Val! Her Val! The sweet, kind, gentle man who was nothing but thoughtful and caring and...and... "Th-that's impossible!" She squeaked, biting down on her lip and hugging his hand close to her.

Looking over at her and seeing her face falter like that was painful for him. Still he nodded and tried not to be angry or upset and he quietly nodded, "I am Gonzales Freedman, I am the b*****d that ruined all those lives," he laughed bitterly and couldn't bear to look at her anymore as he turned his head away. His hair was now ginger colored; it had been for a while much to his daughter's amusement as the purple color faded out of it to give the hair a bit of a rest between dyes, it would be a shame if he suddenly lost his hair due to too many chemical treatments performed upon it. Hair was one of those features that went unnoticed when you only look at a person's face or even just elsewhere in general plus had other worries on your mind, like Other did.

His hair was the least of his worries right now, "I was a very bad man and...I won't blame you if you couldn't work over what I did in the past and ... didn't want to see me again," Val admitted softly as much as it pained him. He half expected her to eject him from her house and tell him to not even so much as think of her ever again. Val wouldn't have blamed her if she did do that. Would he stop seeing her as she asked? He would certainly try but he wasn't sure if he'd just give up on her or not. Valeri didn't want to give up on her but...

He nodded...

He nodded.

Not only was he nodding but he was saying he was that man, pursing her lips as her bottom lip threatened to quiver because of his answer and his laugh. She'd never heard him laugh like that, and she'd never heard him swear. It certainly made her uncomfortable to say the least. Her heart felt like it was clenching painfully, her hands shaking as she subconsciously squeezed his hand again like a person would a stress ball. She wanted to call him out on it; she wanted to say he was lying and that this wasn't funny. It wasn't funny at all. But why would he joke like this? About this of all things. He had no reason to.

She didn't notice his hair yet, because now her gaze was on the hand she was still stubbornly holding for some kind of comfort. Had she noticed the purple was going away she would've been very surprised to see the ginger color showing itself under the fading dye, and she may have even found it funny.

Boy she could use a laugh right about now. His words stung, they stabbed at her heart and made her whimper quietly. He...he was a very bad man, but not anymore! He was saying it himself, it was past tense! He wasn't like that anymore. She didn't know that other man, she didn't..she didn't... "I...I don't love that other man." Other said so quietly she wasn't sure if was even loud enough to be heard, she let go of Val's hand after that for the sake of its livelihood; couldn't squeeze it to death now, he needed it, and that would hurt after awhile. She sniffed once, wiping her eye and staring at the books for a moment. Other suddenly stood up and picked up both books, staring seriously at them and then over her shoulder at Val, she frowned then and set the book she would be bringing back to the bookstore on the table so she could walk over to a nearby bookshelf that was much taller than her. She put Val's book in an empty space that it looked like it would fit into, then walked back to the couch and sat down beside Val again.

"...You're not a bad man..." Other started, looking up at him in the corner of her eye for a moment and then down at her lap. "A-and...I...I don't want you to e-ever leave me..." She said softly, turning her head up to look at him again. "If...that's..." She pursed her lips as she tried to figure out what to say next. "Y-you're not Gonzales Freedman. You're Val." Her Val.

Oh he wouldn't joke about this. Not at all and not with her. This was too serious for him to joke about and plus this mattered to the both of them that he was honest with her. The game of 'guess' was not a happy one but he couldn't exactly laugh it off. His hand felt cold as she let it go as he moved it to join his other hand on the cane. Should he go, wait she didn't love that other man? Love? She loved him? No he must have heard her incorrectly. Who could love him? He was foolish to believe that someone could possibly love him especially with all the bad things he had done. Valeri gazed at her as she began to move about, she was lovely and she deserved someone so much better than he was. Other deserved the best man in the world; his heart gave a dull painful thump as ice water seemed to fill his stomach. Was this it? Did she want to call it off?

Valeri looked at her as she sat next to him and spoke. She didn't believe he was a bad man? That was good. At least she didn't hate him for who he was and she wanted him to stay, his tongue felt numb though he managed to mumble a soft, "You sure? B..Because I can go before it's too late," he didn't want to speak these words. The words hurt too much. Val didn't want to go and leave her behind. He blinked at her next words and then slowly nodded his head. Valeri was Valeri not Gonzales Freedman. Still it was a penname that he wrote under and he wasn't sure how that a distinction like that could be made but if it kept Other at his side he was willing to roll with it.

"Yes." Other answered quietly, but despite the lack of volume there was a very definite air to the word. She didn't want him to leave, it was lonely when he did, and it made her chest tighten. She was content before she met him, but now that he was around she wasn't about to let someone who made her so genuinely happy slip from her grasp. If only she had the courage to admit that. "I..." She made a little unhappy noise and cut herself off, blushing and looking away to hide her face. "You...make me really happy. Really happy." Other turned her head to look at him again, still blushing as she thought over her words carefully. Would he think she was being silly? Other had never been in love before; she'd only ever loved her family. This was love, right? The fact that she was ecstatic just being near him even if they weren't touching? Her heart fluttering, her stomach getting a funny feeling that she couldn't explain, her constant blushing getting worse every time he said something! And he made her feel so good even when he took her out of her comfort zone...so...maybe? Was that what this was? "And it's...like...y-you...I..." Other blushed even more, at a loss for words now. It was so nerve wracking! She was confessing her love?! How did someone do that?

"It doesn't matter...what you were, but I...I love the man you are now." Other tried very hard to keep her voice audible, swallowing hard and playing nervously with her hair. "You don't have to...feel the same way I just--" Gaaah she wasn't making any sense! He must've thought she was being so ridiculous or something now. "I know we haven't been together very long but..I..." She blushed harder and stared down at her lap, taking a deep breath to collect herself. After that, despite her heart still beating madly, she looked up at Val with a soft smile.

"I love you, Val.."

He would stay if she wanted him to he would stay for as long as she wanted to so long as she wasn't going to banish him from her life he was happy with that. He quietly watched her, his brow furrowing when she made an unhappy sound and cut herself off from saying something before she continued on a new train of thought of what she wanted to say. He gave a her small genuine smile as he watched her there was no thought of her being silly crossing his mind only that she was sweet and beautiful and that he would do anything for her. His own heart, no longer in pain as she spoke, began to flutter as the butterflies began to move about in his stomach the more she talked. Even he blushed and quietly reached up a hand to brush against her hair and cheek and only momentarily paused when she began to say that she loved him and how he didn't have to feel the same and then reiterated the fact and included his name.

There was a moment where he heard nothing but those words echoing in his head.

Okay, Val, you have to think this through and make sure you mean whatever you say to her. She'll certainly understand if you need to think it ov-

"I love you, too," Val blurted out in reply as he ignored the small voice of 'reason' that was going off in his head that he usually listened to before he said such things (especially now a days).

Oh God, oh God, oh God! What had she just done?! She'd just told him she loved him and...and now he must have thought she was so silly! Other's breath caught as he reached out with his hand to touch her hair and her cheek, staring at him with wide eyes. She didn't look upset anymore like she had moments ago, now she was just nervous but...she was excited. She'd done it! She'd told him she loved him! Even if he didn't feel the same way she'd told him she loved him! She'd done something she never thought she would ever have the courage to do, not ever!

Other gasped softly when her words were repeated back at her, and it felt like her heart just stopped. He...loved her? He loved her?! He loved her! She couldn't believe it! He really loved her! Her breath escaped her in an excited yet relieved laugh, suddenly throwing her arms around his neck and pressing a happy kiss to his lips. She couldn't help it, she was just so happy! Val loved her! It didn't even sound like he was saying it for her benefit, it'd sounded so real! She broke away from the kiss to look at Val with a look of pure delight, her hands moving to lightly grip his shoulders.

"I love you." She said again with a bright smile, leaning in to give him another excited kiss.

Waitwaitwait. Did he just mean those words? Did he really mean it? Oh hey kisses!

Kisses from her! He liked her kisses. The Val you were trying to contact has now officially pretty much left the building as he returned the kisses, each of them. Any concerns he had had gone away for a few moments as he murmured, "I love you, too," once more against her lips. He quietly brushed his lips against hers after his own proclamation. The worries of whether he meant the words were gone. Let Future Val deal with it, Current Val was enjoying himself thoroughly with the woman near him.

He let his cane drop away onto the floor in favor of turning to wrap his arms about her waist in a loose manner as he watched her eyes over the rim of his glasses. He was content like this for now, very content to just hold onto her so that he wouldn't lose more control and just stay with her and not float away. "You make me happy, too," he said quietly in a few less words than she had used to state how he had made her feel. Simple and to the point. It was why he feared losing her so badly; she made him happier than he had in years. Sure his daughter and his friends made him happy but this was different.

Other keened happily when he repeated himself too, enthusiastically returning his kiss. She'd always loved his kisses, but she suddenly loved them more than she ever had, she could wonder why later; obviously it was because they loved each other! For now she didn't seem to notice the clatter of Val's cane hitting the floor, she was more interested in leaning into him with that same bright smile as one of her hands unconsciously slid down to press against his stomach instead of his shoulder. It was an action she didn't seem to notice just yet, it was merely her trying to keep herself balanced as she leaned in to brush her lips against Val's with a happy sigh.

He loved her. Val loved her. She loved him. He was hers, but...but was she his? She certainly thought so, but something was tugging at her mind telling her she wasn't yet; she didn't understand what it meant. How weird, what did this mean? Was there something..expected of them now? Oh, of course! Being happy, duh! There couldn't possibly be anything else! The hand that had remained on his shoulder now reached up to lightly brush hair away from Val's face, blinking and staring at it when an unfamiliar color caught her eye. His hair wasn't purple! Well, it was, but not completely like it usually was! Whoa! "Is this your real color?" Other tilted her head at that, giggling and kissing his forehead.

Now what? Other wasn't hungry or anything, and she wasn't tired. She wanted to keep cuddling with Val like this, but couches weren't exactly cuddle friendly with the way she wanted to sit with him; she wanted to lay with him like she had on their picnic date, when he'd asked her to be his girlfriend. Where could they do that? Not the couch, that was too cramped...not the floor, that was uncomfortable...a bed? Her bedroom? Maybe...if it was okay with him. Val was staying for the night anyway! He'd even brought a bag of clothes and stuff! She blushed, closing her eyes and kissing Val's jaw. "Can we, um..can we go upstairs?" She wanted him to hold her. Not that he wasn't already! In fact she liked how he was holding her! She just wanted him to hold her more comfortably. "W-we don't have to! I just..w..want to..." Other blushed even more and ducked her head. She wanted to what? Oh, right, cuddle. She liked cuddling. "You're staying the night anyway! So I figured we could...just...go up to my room." Other swallowed hard and turned her gaze away to stare at something else, suddenly too nervous to look him in the eye anymore. Why was she suddenly so nervous? She hadn't been this nervous last time she wanted to sleep with him, why now? "I-if that's okay with you."

He was glad he made her happy, really! He was happy that she wasn't upset with him and wanted him out and he was more than happy to hold her in his arms and kiss for as long as she wanted. She reached to brush hair from his face and suddenly she made an observation about his hair and he suddenly felt a small bubble of laughter come out of him and he nodded a little, "Yep, that is, sorry. G-guess you're learning a lot of new things about me today," he said glad to move onto happier topics, much more fun secrets that didn't cause drama or to make her pretty face go into that sad expression that he couldn't find in himself to bear to see very long. Her kissing his forehead made him close his eyes a moment before he reopened them once again and watched her with open adoration.

Whether or not he meant it, for now, he was very sure he loved her.

Valeri kept his arms around her as she seemed to lapse into a bit of silence which he was fairly comfortable with. They didn't need to talk endlessly about nothing and everything all at once. They had all their lives to do that so for now, in silence, he was content. She spoke again and immediately had his attention and blinked a little bit and gazed down over toward his fallen cane. He could grab it but then going to the bedroom did sound mighty comfortable thus having to move would be a small sacrifice for the idea of going to a more comfortable surrounding. Unlike her he didn't feel the urge or pull to do something 'expected' of him or if he did he did not behave that way. He had Other. They had made it through a rather traumatic and possibly relationship ruining afternoon and he was glad to go through with the rest of the time cuddling and enjoying her company. She was his or so he felt, he knew he was hers. That was when there was a modicum of doubt that wiggled its way into his subconscious planting doubts of 'not yet' but adding a 'very soon'. He paid it no mind he refused to have thoughts like that about Other. She was sweet and innocent, far too sweet and innocent for such filthy thinking.

"That's okay! I...I like it." Other giggled, her fingers playfully running through his hair. She always liked it, and as long as he was comfortable that was all the mattered when it came to how she preferred his hair. It was a very nice color though! She had nothing against the purple, because that was also a nice color, but the ginger was so nice! Wonder why he dyed it. Oh well, she could find that out later. The hand that had been playing with his hair moved down to cup his cheek, just looking into his eyes for now. They were so nice; would he think it was weird if she ever commented that they were her favorite color? Green had always been her favorite color! And his eyes were such a pretty shade of it. She blushed at that, but remained smiling.

She was glad the silence wasn't awkward; it was rather comfortable for once. Didn't need silly chattering to enjoy his company. Other blinked and followed his gaze down to his cane, her other hand dropping down onto Val's lap as she reached down to get his cane for him. There! Now he didn't have to get it himself! She was about to give him his cane and get up when she noticed where her hand was, suddenly blushing darkly and clenching her fist. Ah! N-no! Wait! Bad! Other gasped and unclenched it, moving her hand away like it'd been burned and refusing to look at Val. Her heart thumped pleasantly, swallowing hard and in just a bit of a rush as she stood up and fixed her dress, holding his cane out for him to take and even help him up if he needed it. She made a little face as her heart raced, not sure why it was all of a sudden. Was it...was it just because of what she had done?

Oh no! Was this such a good idea? ...Sure! Of course it was! Why wouldn't it be? That'd been an accident what she'd done, it didn't mean anything. Other cast a shy glance at Val, holding his hand and picking up his bag that'd been abandoned at some point during their 'game.' Might as well bring it with them, sure they'd come back down for dinner later but what if he needed something in it? She squeezed his hand affectionately, waiting for him to be ready before she led him upstairs and to her room.

He smiled a bit, despite hating his hair color since childhood he could perhaps do something to 'compromise' without making her a knowing party to this. Besides it felt nice to have her run her fingertips through his hair. Anything she did felt particularly nice tonight. He leaned his cheek against her hand for a moment as he looked back into her eyes. She had such lovely eyes but then to him everything about her just seemed to strike a chord with him. She was beauty inside and out.

Valeri didn't protest when she went to get his cane though he felt a certain amount of pressure against his lap though he refused to follow the gaze toward that particular bit of pressure. She wasn't doing this on purpose she wasn't groping him but her looking at him as she did and behaving as she did caused him to blush as well though he still wasn't exactly uneasy. He would gleefully ignore it for now. Yep gleefully. This was all still innocent and happy.

He quietly squeezed her hand back after she had taken up the discarded backpack and he had taken his cane with the free hand and began to make the motions of getting up and as soon as she was up he would follow her up stairs for innocent cuddling time. Yep. Innocent.

THIS MORNING I...
W O K E U P

Valeri had awoken the next morning staring at a ceiling that was not his and was suddenly overcome with familiar, once forgotten, feelings of: Wait, this is not my apartment.

Followed by momentary worry about how he had gotten there and upon feeling the warmth of another body next to him he began to reverently hope that they were attractive (to him) and not the cause of some drunken binge he suddenly went on. Not that he made a habit of drunken binges as of late as he had a daughter -- wait he had a daughter?

...Oh yeah Miranda...and Other...

With the recollection of his daughter and then finally of the woman next to him he suddenly felt a horrible lapse of guilt for his thoughts. Mostly because they were a return of an old, former self that was very much in welcome, and suddenly it had reared its ugly head full force.

Of course that recollection lead to the most recent evening and another form of guilt pulled him in and he began to second guess himself as his gut clenched nervously as his mind made a replay of the evening before. He had told her he had loved her and then they had made love. That's what they called it, right? When two people loved each other? They make love. They do not just have sex or whatever. They make love. He didn't have to look beneath the sheets to realize that he (and likely she) was very, very nude. Another nervous clench of the gut ensued as he laid there and continued to stare up at the slightly blurry ceiling. It wasn't that he felt remorse for act itself but for perhaps he had done something wrong and he couldn't shake the feeling that he had soiled her somehow with this act.

Had he really meant the many I love yous he had sprouted? Had she really wanted to do this? Perhaps she was scared of losing him and in a way had tried to 'keep' him around by doing something she may not have been ready for.

...No that thought was an insult to her. She wouldn't do such a thing just to keep him around. Making love, sex, or whatever you wanted to call it was not a way to 'keep' anyone around much less him. Valeri just knew that he had come up to her bedroom with her after something that could have potentially ended everything for them and the intention was just to cuddle, to be with someone that could see over his past and love him for the man he is now. Granted he was starting to wonder if he really changed considering the thoughts he had woken up with.

Damn it.

He should get up, go to therapy and rehabilitation, and then pick up Miranda. Did Stacia remember that his daughter takes medication? He only reminded her each and every time she had gotten his daughter for overnight stays when they did happen anyways, so she damn well better had remembered his daughter's medication. Valeri hadn't spent these weeks trying to get her to take her medicine to have his sister suddenly throw it all down the drain because she 'forgot'.

No, Stacia was more responsible than that, he chided himself as he reached up and rubbed at his face and then dared a glance toward the sleeping Other. He was sure they fell asleep in each other's arms after everything; he could barely remember at the moment, he just hoped she wouldn't mind that he used her shower as she slept. He stared at her as she slept and felt his heart flutter oddly in his chest and a small smile crept over his lips. Valeri couldn't help it; every time he looked at her it seemed different he always noticed new things about her. The way her hair fell, how pretty her eyes were, or even how lovely her skin seemed to be and how much paler than him she seemed to be, much to his amusement.

Carefully Valeri moved away from her and Other uttered a small sound of complaint only half waking up before her arms snaked around the pillow he formerly occupied and hugged it close to her and fell back into a deep sleep. He ran a hand through his hair and chuckled and put on his glasses then reclaimed his cane so to move around the room more easily. Thank goodness Other had brought his backpack upstairs as otherwise he'd have to wander downstairs in the nude in that odd sort of awkward way one could only do it when in a house place they aren't usually nude in. He shouldered the backpack and made a quiet limping trek to the restroom to use the facilities and to shower.

It wasn't until he was using the bathroom that a thought had occurred to him. It wasn't until this very moment as he stared forward in a slightly bleary fashion that he recalled the word he had been seeking the night before. His stomach clenched a bit. Condom. He didn't use one last night, he took a deep breath as he finished up, took off his glasses, placed his cane on the wall nearest to the shower stall and began to start the water in the shower so he could wash off. Maybe she was on was on birth control? Probably not. Hopefully she didn't get pregnant on the first try, right? It wasn't like it happened like that all the time, right? Some people have to try to repeatedly. He stood in the shower as the water hit him.

This didn't bode well at all.

He had been a bad boy. A bad, filthy, naughty boy and he needed to be locked away and probably beaten. In his mind a small version of his father with a large head was lecturing him about responsibility and how he had failed to do something so simple. Val could only bow his head in shame and utter a small sigh. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." It wasn't like he had a reason to be apologetic at this point for all he knew they could have 'lucked out' this time. He'd know better next time ... If there was a next time. Maybe Other didn't want to be with him in that way again. Val took his time as he showered, washed his hair and cleaned off his 'sins'. What if it did happen that she was pregnant what would he do? He wasn't sure how he even felt about her just yet. Augh. He scrubbed a bit harder at his skin as he tried to ignore the 'Mini-Viktor' in his mind trying to still lecture him. "Shut up, dad. I don't need it right now," he muttered softly as he finished up and cut off the shower.

It was probably good that he wasn't awake because otherwise Other would think he was insane. Val was aware that he had been talking to himself as he took up a towel from a place nearby where Other kept them neatly folded. He dried himself off a little before he stepped out of the stall and then went about drying himself a little more thoroughly with a bit of a sigh; he was trying not to worry. He didn't want to worry, worrying would be bad. Once he was done drying he opened his backpack and took out a toothbrush, toothpaste, and some deodorant. Val had decided any clothing could wait until after he was done with general hygiene for now wrapping the towel around his waist sufficed for pretend modesty in case Other stirred and stumbled in while he was in the midst brushing his teeth.

He couldn't help but feel at least a little guilty at least for now maybe if he just had someone to talk to that was on the outside of the entire situation, that could help, someone that wasn't his father (or family in general) preferably. Val mentally went through the mental people-to-talk-to list as he stared at himself in the mirror and brushed his teeth and unfortunately the list was short.

Deet or Sally.

.. . .. . Deet.

Now it was just the matter of calling the friend in question and seeing if he had time for him. Val gave a mental groan as he rinsed out the toothpaste, then finished up the rest of his hygiene routine, and got dressed with fresh clothes and put on a small bit of cologne. He packed everything away in his bag once he was done and put his used towel in the dirty clothes hamper Other had set up before he took up his cane and limped his way back into the bedroom. He took a moment to separate his dirty clothes from Other's clothes and put them in his bag to clean at his own house. Other was his girlfriend not his laundry service as far as he was concerned. She may not have minded but for now he had his own washer and dryer that worked perfectly fine, as well as a fine set of working hands. Val set the bag aside for now after he had closed it up with the dirty clothes packed into it and limped to the bed where Other still dozed. He smiled a bit as he watched her. He leaned the cane on the nightstand and moved to kneel on the bed leaning toward the sleeping figure, "Hey Other, I'm gonna go now, okay? I got some things I need to do."

"Mmm noooooo~," Other responded with a sleepy whine as she slightly opened her eyes and reached for him to pull him back toward her so that he would stay with her.

Val uttered a laugh and gently grasped her hand and gently put it closer toward her and leaned and kissed her forehead, "I have to. I'll call you later," he promised quietly as he withdrew when she tried to make another grab at him.

When the grab was unsuccessful she pouted a bit and hugged both arms around the pillow again and gave a small sigh and uttered a small sleepy, "Fiiiiiiiiine," and drifted back to sleep.

Part of a very amused of Val seemed certain she wouldn't remember this particular exchange and that part prompted him to write her a note before he left her for the time being. He took up his cane once more and moved back to his bag and went to a front pocket where he kept a notepad and a pen, got them out, and then scribbled out a quick note for Other and placed it on the nightstand where she would find it when she first wakes up. After that was done he put the pen and pad away and gently brushed a hand over her hair once more before he shouldered the backpack and after a moment he made his way out the door as quietly as he could.

Once outside he got his cell phone out from another pocket of his backpack and dialed Deet's home number and hoped the large cat-man would pick up and have room in his day for him. Val really, really needed someone to talk to....

GOOD MORNING, SUNSHINE!
A W M A N

She barely remembered waking up to try and keep Val from leaving her that morning, she was just so tired after all the energy they'd exerted. Other didn't have the stamina for...that kind of thing yet, apparently. Breathing deeply, Other hugged the closest thing to her and sighed happily; it smelled just like Val..wait, it didn't feel like Val. Huh? She opened her eyes a little, squinting against the light shining through the window and finding that her face was nuzzled into the pillow Val had been using up until now, apparently. He...he wasn't there? Wh-where did he go?! Other gasped and sat up sharply, shivering a bit as her hair lightly brushed her skin in places she wasn't used to it touching. She frowned and held the blanket instinctively over her chest, just sitting there and looking around until she saw a piece of paper on the nightstand near her. What was this? Blinking, Other crawled to the other side of the bed and picked up the paper, reading it over and smiling softly. Oh, that explained it. Yes, his daughter and his appointments were important, she would have been upset if he missed them because of her. She giggled and hugged the paper a bit like it really was him, closing her eyes and giving a dreamy little sigh. It said "Love, Val". He loved her! And he looked forward to seeing her again soon! She keened happily and moved to get out of the bed, her foot getting caught up in the blanket and tripping her enough to send her to the floor with a cry of surprise. Other blinked and rolled over, staring up at the ceiling and...giggling. She couldn't help it! She was suddenly overcome with a fit of the giggles! Other continued to giggle, rolling onto her side and hugging her middle. She lied there giggling for a few minutes until the pent up giggles went away, sighing and rolling over onto her back and staring up at the ceiling, smiling brightly and sighing as she thought back to last night. A faint blush crept over her face. Never in a million years had she imagined she could do something like that with anyone, especially someone she loved so dearly, heck she didn't even think she'd ever fall in love! It'd been...incredible! Who knew something that sounded like it would be so weird could feel so good? She had gotten all nervous over nothing at all! It'd felt...it'd felt right. Other closed her eyes for a moment, still smiling and sighing deeply. She loved him! She loved Val so much! Other giggled with excitement at that, pushing herself up to her feet and tossing her blanket back onto the bed without actually looking at it, shivering and looking down at herself. Oops! Clothes, clothes, she needed clothes. She took a moment to pick up the ones that had been tossed on the floor, blushing and putting them in the hamper on her way to the shower.

"Geep!" She squeaked and held onto the counter as she suddenly slipped a bit. The floor was wet? Why was the flo--Oh, Val must have used the shower. H-he used her shower? That meant he'd been in here and he'd been...and...oh my. She blushed even more as she righted herself and started the shower, ruffling her own hair. Wow, she'd never thought or imagined anything like that before! It was almost weird! Was she weird to picture Val like that?

...She was definitely never telling any of this to him. Eh heh.

Other suddenly opened her eyes wide, blinking a few times and gasping. Gah! She had to stop thinking like this! Quickly! What was that thing her mom used to do? Daddy would say something she didn't quite understand and she'd...take a cold shower. Was that what she meant? Other gulped and turned the water from hot to cold, really cold, stepping in after and squealing. Cold! Coldcoldcold! O-oh well, she could deal! This was to calm her down, these feelings were all still so weird to her. At least she felt better when she was done, grabbing a towel and wrapping it around her hair; she then reached for the other one she usually had sitting here for the rest of her body only to find that she instead grabbed at air. Oh, he must have used that one. Oh well, guess she'd just use one towel then. She hummed as she went about the rest of her morning routine, getting dressed and practically bouncing down the stairs. She was even singing. "Circle me and the needle moves gracefully back and forth~." Other skipped to the kitchen to pop a couple slices of bread in the toaster, looking around for something else to do as she continued to sing softly like she was worried someone would hear her. "If my heart was a compass you'd be north.." Now she needed something to do while she waited for her breakfast. Something to do, something to do...oh, she could make her bed! Other hurried back up the stairs and to her room, wanting to get it done quickly before her toast was done and it'd get cold waiting on her. She continued to sing as she walked into her room.

"Wherever you go, if my heart was a house you'd be ho--oh, no!" Other cried, staring down at something she saw on her mattress. She knew her first time would hurt but she'd forgotten it would also mean that she would...augh! Not fair! This morning was going so well too! It wasn't really the mess on the sheet that concerned her, it was more the fact that she had to go...down there. The Basement. The creepy, freaky, scary, dark basement. O-or maybe she could just get rid of these and buy all new sheets! Oh, but she liked these sheets. Darn! Sighing, Other tossed the pillows and blanket on the floor, pulling the sheet up off the mattress and folding it up in her arms. No, no, she'd go down there and just wash the sheets like a good girl. Man, she was suddenly glad Val wasn't here; this was rather embarrassing. Her singing stopped for now. She was still feeling blissfully happy but the fact that she had to go down into the basement did put a slight damper on her morning for a few minutes. Slowly, Other trudged downstairs like a bratty child who was being forced to do a chore, eventually turning to stand in front of the basement door and just...stare at it.

She really did not want to go down there. "It makes me smile because you said it best," Other sang softly as she flicked on the light to the light downstairs before even opening it. She knew nothing was down there but she still couldn't help but be afraid of it. It was just...so creepy! It was this or an attic, the attic had sounded a bit more frightening to her than the basement had. At least she could duck and see things coming in the basement, with the attic her head would be going in first! The basement also meant she didn't have to carry heavy things up stairs unless she absolutely had to. At the very least she wouldn't have to be here for awhile, for now she just tossed the sheet in the washing machine and poured in the color-safe bleach, closing the lid and turning on the machine so she could run back up the stairs. Yes, she ran. It wasn't some silly exaggeration when she said she was scared of her basement! Not that she would ever admit to this. Other turned the light off and closed the door quickly behind her just as something in the kitchen made a noise. She squeaked and jumped back against the door, laughing at herself a moment later. Other sighed, running her fingers through her hair. Man, she always got all jittery and jumpy after going down there.

"It's just the toaster, Other. You silly girl." She giggled as she pushed off the door and walked back to the kitchen, grabbing a plate and plucking the hot toast out of the toaster onto it. So, Val was going to call her? When? Other bounced impatiently on her toes and stared at the clock. He'd said 'tonight' in his note...oooh why couldn't tonight come now? She wanted to talk to him again! Or better yet see him again. Come oooon, Clock! Go faster! Other pouted a bit as she munched on her toast, leaning back against the counter and staring at the wall ahead of her. She glanced at the clock again every now and then; eventually Other gave up and just finished her breakfast with a sigh, brushing crumbs off her hands and settling on just practicing her violin. She had a few songs she needed to practice anyway that she'd been neglecting in favor of other things, things that in the end turned out to be much more pleasing to her than practicing. Other looked at every clock she passed on her way to the office where she kept her violin and her music, picking up both things and tucking her music stand under her arm so she could bring it all downstairs. Again, she looked at every clock and sighed.

This was going to be a long day. And it never once occurred to her that there was something she should probably worry about as far as forgetting things went, she couldn't quite think of what it was still! The feeling that they had forgotten a step did tug at the back of her mind, but for now she merely shrugged it off in favor of playing her violin until she decided to take a break or something.

WHAT'S THE SMILEY FACE MEAN?
. . . C R A P

"Uff...I didn't even eat anything yet!" Other whined pitifully, her hair pulled back into a bun from when she'd gone to bed the night before, sitting on the floor of her bathroom in front of the toilet, leaning over it and groaning; for the past three days she had been getting sick every morning regardless of if she had eaten yet or not, and then sometimes she got sick late at night! She didn't understand why, she always made sure her food was perfect when she cooked it, and she didn't eat out very often unless Val insisted she go with him and Miranda and then...was...was it something like that? She had felt sick before her date with Val so it couldn't be because of that, but it hadn't been this bad until their date a few nights ago! Could it...could it have been?! She wretched one more time, groaning unhappily and leaning against the shower door beside her after she felt her already empty stomach was even emptier. Other had never felt like this before. Yesterday at work she'd stumbled and nearly dropped a tray of fresh baked muffins all over the floor, she had told the others it was because she had tripped on something but in reality it had been because she suddenly felt dizzy and lightheaded. Was she sick? She had no idea, but she did know that when she felt this way she ran to her mother for comfort. Brushing back a few stray bits of hair, Other shakily stood back up on her feet and stepped up to the nearby sink, staring at herself in the mirror for a moment for some sign of illness. She looked the same as she always did...except...were those her breasts?! Other gasped and tentatively held them, gasping again and staring down at them. They were larger! And they hurt! She let go of them like she was doing something wrong, grabbing a cup and quickly filling it with water, sipping at it and swishing the water around in her mouth and then spitting it out. Ugh, what was going on? She continued on with her usual morning routine, thankful that the whole throwing up thing was apparently over, but unfortunately the only thing she could stomach without gagging or feeling nauseous all over again was a muffin. This wasn't good. Something was wrong! Very wrong...she had to call her mother; she'd know what to do. Other picked up her cell phone off the counter and sat down at the table in the middle of the kitchen, dialing her mother's number and waiting for an answer. It didn't take long for her to get one, it never did.

"Hey, Other!" Vionna greeted her more like a friend than a parent. She was used to it.

"Hi, Mommy." Other smiled weakly, twirling a lock of hair around her finger. "How are you? A-are you busy today?"

"I'm never too busy for my Other, darling. I'm fine though, just got finished planning a date tomorrow." Other blinked. This wasn't something she was unused to, but was it with Daddy? "Why? Is something the matter?" Other shrugged, putting her head on the table and sighing. Was something wrong? She had no idea. Oh, but her mother couldn't hear a shrug. Oops.

"I don't know...I just...I don't feel good, Mommy." Other whined, closing her eyes and whimpering a bit. It was true, she didn't feel good. She was throwing up, getting dizzy and lightheaded, certain foods that she normally loved completely repulsed her and on top of that it felt like her breasts were getting bigger! And it hurt! Vionna pursed her lips. Other didn't get sick often, she had always been a very healthy girl as a child, so for her to call her and tell her she's not feeling well? This must have been serious

"Well, what's wrong, honey?"

"I-I don't know!" She whimpered. "I haven't been sleeping very well? But...I don't know...ah...I've been throwing up every morning for three days right when I wake up and then sometimes after I eat something. If I can eat something! And then I feel dizzy and I almost fainted at work the other day and--"

"Other...?" Vionna's voice suddenly interrupted her. Those symptoms sounded very familiar. "Have you...have you been having sex?" Her Other? No way! Other blushed even at the slightest innuendo! There was no way her sweet Other had had sex, especially considering she had promised she'd not do it until she got married! Something about not wanting to be like Vionna and Guy. She had that boyfriend so...no way! Other was taken aback by the question. Her mother was always very blunt, so now would be no exception, but how was she supposed to tell her?! It'd only been once, sure, but...th-this was too embarrassing! She couldn't do it!

"Wh-what? I...th-that's embarrassing! Why would you even ask that?!" Other frowned, blushing and very glad that this was over the phone and not in person. Her hand dropped to her lap, self-consciously holding her skirt down between her legs as if her mother could tell over the phone unless she hid it. She couldn't but the fear was still there. Vionna sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. Leave it to Other to be extremely helpful...not. After a moment she spoke again.

"Honey, I need you to answer the question. I won't be mad, I promise." That would make her a hypocrite. Other bit down nervously on her lip and squirmed uncomfortably in the chair, swallowing hard and nodding her head. It wasn't that she regretted sleeping with Val, in fact she'd loved it after the..initial pain of her first time, and she'd be more than happy to do it again it was just that she was worried about where her mother was going with this. Why was she suddenly so concerned about Other having sex? This was about her not feeling well! Not about--

...No...

"O-one time! It was only one time, I promise!" Other squeaked out, panicked. No! That couldn't be what she was getting at! Vionna frowned at the way Other said that, her sweet darling girl panicking over something like this. She could only hope for Other's sake this was just a scare and not the real thing. Other covered her face with her hand and whimpered, getting up from her chair to go up to her room. She needed to check her special calendar.

"...I'll come over." Vionna told her softly before she hung up the phone. "Guy, I'm going out." She told him as she put on her coat and grabbed her purse, leaving right away so she could make a quick stop at the pharmacy before going straight to Other's house. This pharmacy was going to have to order more pregnancy tests to stock when Vionna was through with them! Other flipped her phone closed and opened her nightstand drawer, sitting on the edge of her bed as she opened it to this month. She had a very regular period, it was always on time, it always lasted the exact same amount of days and it never had any signs of irregularity. Not ever. She had a small red dot for when it would end and a larger one for when it would begin.

There was a large red dot marked for four days ago.

Other sat and stared at the red dot as it mocked her, wide eyed and hands shaking. She'd never missed a period a day in her life since she'd started getting it, and it'd never been even a day late, and now she was four days late after having sex for the first time?! They hadn't...they hadn't used a condom or anything, and Other had no reason to be on birth control so she wasn't on any form of that! This wasn't happening. No! No it couldn't be happening! In a very unfamiliar fit she threw the calendar across the room, turning and throwing herself onto the bed with her face buried into the pillow. It was possible it was late just because of whatever reason like stress or something, but the fear that she could be pregnant outweighed that concern. She did what she did best in a situation like this; she cried, sobbing into her pillow and hugging it tight.

After about an hour and a half Vionna let herself in with one of the extra keys that had been made for both her and Guy, something Other had demanded in her adorably polite way for them to do. "Other?" She closed the door behind her and looked around. No sign of her in the living room. Vionna checked the kitchen, nothing...the dining room was also deserted, and the bathroom on the first floor. She must have been in her room then. She sighed sympathetically and adjusted the bag hanging from the crook of her arm, it was filled with god knows how many pregnancy tests of every kind she could find. Vionna pushed her sunglasses up on top of her head and made her way up the stairs and to Other's room, knocking once before she slowly opened the door and peeked in. Other was still awake, but she didn't look happy in the slightest. She had stopped crying for the most part, now she was just sniffling and hiccupping and trying not to start crying all over again. It broke Vionna's heart to see her daughter like this. Other wiped at her eyes when Vionna walked in, letting go of the pillow to sit up at the edge of the bed again. She saw the bag her mother was holding and blinked, sniffling as she read the logo on it. It was for a nearby pharmacy.

"...A...are those...?"

"Pregnancy tests." Vionna answered without forcing her to finish the question, walking over to Other she set the bag down on the floor and sat down beside her daughter, rubbing the girl's back in a soothing manner and hugging Other to her, putting her head on top of hers. Other's bottom lip trembled a bit as she clung to Vionna, clutching her coat desperately in her fists and whimpering. "Shhh, shhh. It'll be alright, sweetheart." After all, Vionna had been in Other's position before! And see? Other was the sweetest young lady she had ever had the pleasure of knowing despite her parenting skills not being quite up to par with, say, normal parents. Gently she placed her fingers under Other's chin and held it delicately, tilting her head up to smile down at her. "Everything's going to be fine, okay?" Other wasn't sure if she could agree, so many panicked thoughts and fears were running through her head. What if Val got mad? What if he left her? What if she...what if she had to get rid of it? Other couldn't have a baby alone! She just couldn't! But she couldn't do that either!

"O-Oh, Mommy!" Other cried, hugging her tightly and trying so hard not to start crying again. Vionna held her and rocked gently with Other, humming softly and nuzzling her face comfortingly into the girl's hair. They stayed like this for a few minutes, which wasn’t something they did very often, but Vionna wasn't going to rush the poor thing. She knew what it was like to panic over this, and then there was the added pressure of Other's fear of being like her and Guy. She also didn't know what this Val man was like, she had never met him, Other had only gushed about him and she was pretty sure the opinion of a girlfriend was quite biased. She pet Other's soft hair while she let the girl calm down, murmuring soft shushing sounds in an added effort to calm her. When it seemed as if Other was stable enough to move onto the next important step Vionna slowly leaned back to lightly hold her shoulders at arm's length, looking her quite seriously in her eyes.

"Are you ready to see? They're easy, I promise." She would know. Other frowned deeply and nodded, shakily following her mother to the bathroom she could get to from her room. Vionna had picked up the bag of tests and carefully dumped them out onto the bathroom counter, putting the bag to the side so they could put the empty boxes and used tests into it after. Easier cleanup. "Alright, I got a bunch so we could be sure. This is what I did myself." Other eyed them warily; Vionna gave her as assuring a smile as she could. She still didn't know...

"Wh-what do I do..?" Other asked, picking up one of the boxes like it would bite her if she didn't handle it properly. Vionna took that test and opened it, showing Other the stick inside.

"You go over there and pee on this end, then give it to me and I'll put it here. Theeen we wait thirty to ninety seconds depending on the test. This one's ninety. Let's do the longer ones first." Vionna told Other, looking through them and opening the boxers. Other wasn't sure; she had to pee on all those tests? She wasn't sure she could do that! She didn't even have to pee right now! Vionna saw the doubt in her eyes and put down the boxes, holding a finger up for Other to wait as she left her daughter standing awkwardly in the bathroom to get a couple glasses of water for her. Oh! Even better! She had iced tea made. Vionna found two of the largest glasses Other had, filling them with the iced tea for her daughter and bringing them upstairs where she'd left her daughter to sit and wait uncomfortably on the edge of her tub. Other looked up to see the two glasses and grimaced, making an unhappy face like a child being forced to take medicine she didn't want to take. She liked iced tea but she really didn't want to associate the delicious drink with this situation. "Don't give me that look, young lady." Other may have been a grown woman but Vionna would always be her mother. She set one of the glasses down on the counter and handed the other to the girl on the tub. "Drink up."

With a sigh, Other took the glass and started drinking, remaining quiet as she did. Vionna leaned back against the counter. There was no small talk, what was there to say? Other was too uncomfortable for conversation. Luckily it didn't take too long for her to suddenly have to go to the bathroom, forcing her mother out of the bathroom so she could follow the instructions. She used every test. There were so many! When she was done with the tests she let Vionna back in, but instead the woman took her hand and coaxed her out to sit on the bed again so she wouldn't fret and constantly stare at the tests waiting. Other sat quiet, her legs bouncing impatiently as she stared intently at the clock by her bed. Come on, come on! Move faster, time! Vionna sighed and lightly placed her hand on Other's lap, her signal for Other to stop with the jittering because it was annoying and it was also shaking the bed. She wrapped an arm around Other's shoulders and tilting her head to the side to rest it against the smaller girl's head.

"Wh-what should I do if it's...you know..." Other couldn't bring herself to say it. Vionna played with Other's hair and closed her eyes, thinking quietly. Well there were many things she could do, but there was only one way to start.

"Start by first telling him. He deserves to know too." Other nodded, wholeheartedly agreeing. Val deserved to know, but what about after that? Vionna gave her a squeeze. "Then you two will figure out together what you should do."

"B-but what i-if this ruins everything..." What if he left her? What if something horrible happened? Would he be mad? Would he hate her? What if he...didn't? Her heart fluttered as that glimmer of hope pushed through the cloud of doubt, blushing softly. She did have those fantasies about having a happy family with Val, and he did tell her he loved her so...maybe he wouldn't be mad? But this kind of thing tended to ruin relationships, she'd seen it...she'd lived it! Then again her parents were never in love to begin with but...

"Other." Vionna shook her gently, looking at the clock. "It's time." Other froze and stared at the clock, trembling suddenly. It was time. Time to see if she was really pregnant or not. "Do you want to go look or should I?"

"I...I can do it." Other breathed out nervously, slowly getting up and walking to the bathroom. Ohmanthiswasit. She closed her eyes when she was in the bathroom, taking in a deep, shaky breath and slowly letting it out in an attempt to calm herself. It didn't really work. She was still scared out of her wits. Would it have been like this if it was Val sitting with her during this? Would it be worse? Better? She had no idea, and it was too late to find out. She picked up the first test, staring at it. There was a smiley face...now...that could be good or bad depending on the attitude of the tester so she picked up the box that matched it to see what it was.

Positive.

She dropped that test with a frown, biting down on her lip as she checked another test. And another. And another. And three more. And two more. And another. Soon she had checked every single test, and every single test gave her the same result.

Positive.

Positive.

"O-oh my God!" Other cried, leaning back against the wall and sliding down to the floor, curling up her legs and holding her head as she buried her face into her knees. Vionna came running into the bathroom, taking enough of a glance at the tests to know why she was freaking out as she kneeled down to coax Other to look up.

"Oh, honey, I...it'll be okay, it really will." Other whimpered, throwing her arms around Vionna and sobbing into her shoulder. Vionna frowned and held her, petting Other's hair and rubbing her back as she moved to sit against the wall with Other, tugging the girl on her lap to rock her. Sure, she was a grown woman but she still needed this. Other'd never cried like this, not even as a baby! "It'll be okay, sweetheart. Shhhh." She whispered to her daughter, kissing her temple. Other refused to lift her head from where it was buried into her mother's shoulder, clinging desperately to her and sobbing hysterically. Vionna, while she was quite uncomfortable like this, just let her go on. It would be better for her to get this out now so she could be somewhat calm whenever she told Val, make things a little less awkward than they'd most likely be as it was without her crying and sobbing. She rubbed Other's back and continued to rock gently with her, not enough to make her nauseous but at least enough to comfort her. "Do you want to see a doctor to know for sure?" Other shook her head, whimpering pitifully. She didn't want to see a doctor, not without Val. She'd go, but only with Val...if he agreed. Only if he agreed. She wouldn't force him.

"Come on, you could probably use a nap." Normally she would offer someone a drink when they were this upset but...not her pregnant daughter. Hell, she might not offer her daughter a drink even if she wasn't pregnant; thinking of Other drinking alcohol was just too far-fetched. Other hiccupped and slowly nodded, crying for a few more moments until she slowly stumbled to her feet. A nap...a nap sounded good. Vionna helped her stand, walking Other to her bed. Other paused to groggily stumble back in the direction of the bathroom; Vionna sighed and caught her around the waist.

"B-but the tests..." Other hiccupped as her mother guided her away from the bathroom.

"I'll clean them up and go, okay? And I won't tell Daddy." Vionna told her honestly, helping Other into bed and pulling her blanket up over her shoulders. She leaned in to give her a gentle kiss on her forehead. Other nodded and hugged one of her pillows tight, the one that Val used whenever he spent the night. She nuzzled her face into it for comfort, Vionna smiled softly and walked away to clean up the tests and boxes, putting them into a bag to throw out for Other. She checked on the girl before she left the room, finding her fast asleep and sighing. This was the last thing she ever expected to be doing with Other, guess there was a first time for everything.

A LITTLE DOUBT
C A N I D O T H I S ?

User ImageUser Image
____So I bought Other two tea tins and something else as well, something I'm kind of nervous about giving her. I'm not uncertain about giving it to her, not at all, this was the simplest decision I have ever come to as far as Other is concerned. After my talk with Deet and even my daughter Miranda, I have decided to ask her to marry me. My father was no help at all on the subject and kept trying to talk me out of it. Just because my mom wronged him doesn't mean the same thing'll happen with Other. Hell, I KNOW it won't happen with Other, she isn't like that. I'm just scared she won't like the ring. What if she doesn't like it? What if she doesn't want to marry me yet?

____It wasn't really an abrupt decision, not really. I mean we knew each other for almost over a year; we took things nice, slow, and easy. We made love earlier than either of us anticipated that much is certain but it still felt right. More right than anything has in a while. Maybe that sounds a bit too corny but it isn't like anyone's going to read this thing so I can say whatever I want.

____I love her. A lot. She's different from all the other girls I ever met. Then again I ran around with a rather ... questionable crowd in the past. I don't know, maybe I shouldn't ask her at all. Other'd probably prefer someone else after a while. I mean I would, haha. Miranda is particularly excited about the whole prospect, though. She wants to be there when it happens but since I don't know what is going to happen for sure I'd rather Miranda not be there and get completely disappointed right along with me. That's the right thing to do, isn't it? I don't want Miranda to be hurt in all of this or at least soften the blow somehow, but I am not sure that'll ever really be possible. When children are involved it always seems to make the situation a little harder to deal with, doesn't it?

____Maybe it's just me...

____Last few times I talked to Other lately she seemed a bit off or at least hiding something. Maybe she read my book or at least a part of it? Maybe that's what is making her act a little weird. I hope she isn't starting to regret sticking with me or something. That'll probably sting a lot worse now that we've gone through and have done together...Going to call her up and see if she wants to have dinner at my place and then call my sister to see if she'll take Miranda for the night again. I peeked into Miranda's room she seemed to be packing her stuff already, she knows it is coming. I keep banishing her over to her Aunt Stacia's place and it's starting to make me feel a bit guilty. At least she has a Girl's Day to look forward to sometime soon if Other still wants to do that with Miranda.

____Hopefully if all goes well I won't have to keep banishing Miranda as often as I have been...Haha. Either way I better go help Miranda-Squish get ready for bed and get some work done...

WHAT DO I DO?
B E C A U S E I H A V E N O I D E A

User ImageUser Image
____I don't know what to do. I've talked to my mother, I've even talked to my father, but I just...I'm so scared. I don't know what I should..ugh. I've never felt this way before. I love Val so much, so, so much! I don't ever want to lose him! He's amazing, and he's kind and he's gentle, and so generous. Yeah, he doesn't have the best history but it's history. He isn't like that anymore. And while I know this isn't fair to him the way I'm acting right now I still can't help but feel so scared that maybe, just possibly this would be the thing that breaks him and makes him decide he...doesn't want to be with me anymore. But just thinking about that hurts so much. I don't know what I'd do if he didn't want to be with me anymore. On the one hand I guess it's a relief to at least know why I've been so sick and weird lately, but on the other I just...my first time and I get pregnant? What kind of luck is that?!

____He's starting to suspect, I think. Every time I talk to him I just get so nervous. Am I showing? Well, not really, unless you look at my new bra size! I've been staring at myself in the mirror, and there's...a little added weight but not enough to be noticeable; it might just be my paranoia making me look that way though. They say to never look at yourself in a mirror, you don't see the same thing everyone else does. But darnit! I'm still scared!

____We've been talking as much as we ever do, but after we do and I think back on it I realize I might be a little more forceful than I usually am. I...I'm being silly! He asked me if something was wrong and I totally freaked! I got all giggly and nervous and I...I just freaked! I don't remember what I said, but I think it was something like "Wrong? Haha! Nothing's wrong why would something be wrong that's just silly!" ARGH! I'm so STUPID! Everyone knows I'm a terrible liar! I just can't do it! Lying isn't something I do; lying isn't something I even like to do. I hate this. I can't keep not telling him. He deserves to know, and...and if he leaves me then I...

____Well I guess I'll just have to accept that? It's not something I want to accept but if he...if he really wants to leave then I could always ask my parents to move in. They could help me take care of the baby, and they wouldn't have to pay rent anymore for their apartment? Ugh, it hurts too much to think about this. I don't want to think about it anymore! I just have to suck it up, and tell him the very next time I see him! No matter what we're doing I'm just going to come right out and say it! And then I can worry about what happens next.

____To be honest? I'm...happy it's Val's. I really am. I'd love to have a baby with Val, to marry him, live with him, have a happy family with him. I really would. It's not necessarily something I expected to do in this order but nothing's perfect? He makes me so happy; I truly hope he doesn't get mad. Maybe he won't? I just don't want to scare him off. Or think it's his fault, because it isn't, I mean...I obviously had to be there too for this to happen, right? And if he tries to blame himself then well I'll...I'll smack him! Or something. Maybe I won't quite do that but he shouldn’t do that. It's just as much my fault as it is his!

____So that's my plan. Next time I see him, in person, I'll tell him. And then I'll hope for the best!

I HAVE SOME NEWS
F O R G O O D O R B A D

Valeri had arrived a little late since he tended to walk everywhere with the occasional (grudging) rides on the public buses. Everyone knew and understood his hesitance about being near anything that resembled a motor vehicle and for the most part Valeri did well so long as the car didn't ram right up over the curb.

Everyone was there waiting for him; his mother Ophelia, his father Viktor, his sister Stacia, and his brother-in-law Clyde. He wasn't sure what he was going to tell them or when but he settled at his seat and rested his cane up against the table just in case he needed to make a quick get away. The usual greetings were made; the hugs and kisses were shared between son and mother. The waitress came and took his food and drink order and he was left alone with his family. For the most part everyone was chattering while casting curious glances in his general direction which made Valeri more than just a little uncomfortable. Sure, he had news to tell them but he didn't like being rushed either and it felt as if he was being rushed. He shifted in his seat and prayed for at least his drink to arrive soon.

This was making him nervous, mostly because he knew how his father was going to take it. The rest of them? They would be supportive and happy, Viktor had been 'stung' by marriage and thus was more cautious about the whole thing, plus the man was a pessimist by nature and would certainly have a few things to say about the pregnancy.

Valeri was so happy Other wasn't here to share this moment right now. As soon as the drink arrived he took up the glass and took a nice long drink and decided to share his news before the food would arrive at its predicted time of 'a few more minutes' whatever that meant. After he cleared his throat everyone eerily stopped talking and just stared at him and it caused a faint uneasy blush to rise to his face and made him tear his gaze away.

Too much attention, way too much...

He took a moment to recollect himself before he announced, "I proposed to Other, she said yes."

It got the mixed reaction he had been expecting mostly happy ones on the side of his mother, sister and Clyde. His father on the other hand snorted a bit and rolled his eyes. It didn't surprise Viktor that his son didn't inform him of this decision, still didn't mean he approved of it. In the end Valeri would just get burned as he had, or so Viktor felt.

He ignored his father's reaction for the most part as he continued on, "She's...also pregnant with our child."

His mother and sister squealed in happy unison, Clyde clapped him on the shoulder and congratulated him and Viktor just stared at Valeri with the intensity that almost made the crippled man want to melt into his seat and disappear. All he could want, hope, and dream was that his father didn't ask the question he could already see forming on his Father's mind. The question that would upset and hurt him deeply.

Please don't say it. Please don't say it.

"Did you ask her to marry you because she's pregnant? Is it even yours?" Viktor asked with a deadpan tone which shut everyone up immediately and caused Valeri to start and sit up right suddenly and slam his hands on to the table as he jerked clumsily to his feet.

"Of course it's mine! And I didn't even know she was pregnant until after I proposed! What the Hell kind of question is that!?" Valeri replied in a sudden outburst. He couldn't help but note that the restaurant suddenly went silent and he felt many eyes on him as his face deepened in color before he flopped back into his chair and grabbing a hold of his cane and clutching it. "Other isn't like the girls I used to date, you have no right to speak or think badly of her," he murmured as he stared downward.

Stacia and Ophelia both glared at Viktor as they moved to sit on either side of Valeri to lend support and comfort. Ophelia smoothed some of Valeri's hair back as she spoke, "Viktor just because you're pissed off at me doesn't mean you have to be a jackass during our son's happy moment. He's in love and happy, you need to stop being such a fuddy-duddy and be happy for once, damn it. This is a time for celebration not for your jackassery."

"I'm so happy for you Val~! You have a picture of her for us to see?" Stacia asked as she subtly moved to change the subject, somewhat.

Clyde even cast a disapproving look at Viktor as he scooted closer to them and nodded at his wife's words, "Yeah, show us proof she exists or I'll be inclined to think you made her up!" he grinned playfully.

Valeri felt embarrassed but happy as he leaned a bit and took out his wallet to take out two photos that Other had given to him to keep and he showed it to those around him. Ophelia and Stacia cooed over how pretty she was and Clyde patted him on the back uttering 'Good job!' which made Valeri blush and grin a bit. Reluctantly the man passed the photos to his Father.

Viktor took them and gazed at each one. In one image Other was dressed in concert attire and in the other she was wearing every day clothes and in both he couldn't really see any of the things he could disapprove of. She looked like she came out of one of those fairytale cartoons and seemed more likely to shoo a bug out of the way rather than stomp on it much less break anyone's heart. He hadn't met her yet and already he felt like a heel as he handed the picture back with a grudging, "She looks lovely," said under his breath.

Valeri carefully took the pictures and put them back in their place in his wallet and then put the wallet back in his pocket, "I want you all to meet her, if we could arrange the time for it..."

"Of course, baby! We'd be happy to. Just tell us when is best for her and we'll make time for it!" Ophelia cooed happily. She really wanted to meet the young woman that apparently held her son's attention. Soon dinner arrives and plans were being discussed for a meeting with Valeri's Fiancée. Viktor was mostly quiet and thoughtful as he watched as his family interacted with each other, the older man felt like a bit of an outsider looking in but he honestly had no input. Despite his harsh words he wanted his son to be happy and would make a time to meet the girl his son fancied, especially now that he saw what kind of girl she appeared to be.

Soon lunch was done and everyone went their separate ways. Valeri took a few moments to take a walk in a park rather than returning straight home to take care of packing. He loathed packing already and he had only just begun...

I HAVE SOME NEWS
A N D I T ' S A W E S O M E

Guy Price lounged lazily across the entire loveseat in the small living room of his and Vionna's three bedroom apartment, his arms folded behind his head and his legs hanging over the other side while he watched a football game on the television. It was like any other day, only now Vionna was trying to get his attention. He'd been ignoring her physically for quite some time now, his childishly bratty punishment for a prank she had pulled on him a (couple or few, depends on when this happens! 8D!) months ago. It wasn't much fun for him to come home and find countless positive pregnancy tests in the trashcan in the bathroom! He loved his daughter but he didn't want any more children! He hadn't even wanted the one at first! Her punishment had been that at first he wouldn't talk to her, because he had no other way to punish her since at the time they hadn't exactly been dating at the time, but when they had both broken up with their partners from that time...well...there was nothing stopping him from denying Vionna the sex she had been practically begging him for; a few times she had even climbed into his bed and tried to get him to screw her senseless, but to no avail, he just wouldn't give her what she wanted. "Guy..." Vionna draped over the back of the small sofa, poking at his stomach. The man blinked and looked away from the television to see what Vionna wanted. "You didn't forget Other's coming over today, did you?" He shook his head.

"Nah, I didn't forget. She won't be here for another hour, right?" Vionna sighed and rolled her eyes. Guy blinked. What? Was it something he said? "...Right?" It wasn't for another hour! The knock at the door told him otherwise, and instead of waiting like she would have at anyone else's place Other let herself in with her own key. She grew up here; Vionna insisted that this meant she never needed to knock. The woman grinned and pushed off the couch to hurry over and hug the girl with a squeal of excitement. Guy looked at the clock again only to realize he'd been reading it incorrectly this whole time. Well damn. Oops. He got up off the couch to greet his daughter, giving her a one-armed hug around her shoulders and kissing her temple. Other smiled at the attention she was receiving from both her parents, closing her eyes and keening happily. They had their faults, but they were still her parents, it seemed! "Hey there, sweetheart."

"Hello~." Other chirped, squeaking as both parents guided her further into the apartment and into a very comfy armchair. The pair helped her into her seat when she showed a little sign of trouble, her unusually (for her) large stomach preventing her from bending the way she wanted to. She blushed over the fact that she needed help, settling in comfortably and putting her hands on her growing belly while Guy sat down on the loveseat, staring at the stomach of his only child as far as he was aware, and Vionna pet her hair and disappeared into the kitchen to get her a drink. That left Other alone with her father, blushing and petting her belly. This was...awkward...she hadn't seen her father since, well, he moved her into her house. She'd talked over the phone with him but nothing had been done in person. She didn't even get to be the one to tell him she was pregnant, he found out from her mother. That kind of bothered her, that she didn't get to share the news herself, but she said nothing of it. Other blinked and looked at the TV when she heard cheering, tilting her head. "O-oh...am...am I interrupting?" Oh dear, she could wait!

Guy laughed and shook his head, muting the game. "Uh uh. Never too busy for my girl." He hadn't meant it with any malice whatsoever, he didn't even sound bitter in the slightest, but Other couldn't help but feel a stab of guilt in her chest. He was never too busy for her, but she clearly had been too busy for her parents. Ugh. She'd been engaged all this time and she only just got the chance to tell them? Other sighed sadly at the thought and Guy blinked. "What's wrong?" Other was acting all...weird. And awkward. Sure she was like this all the time but now it seemed a little different, this was the kind of awkward and weird she became when she felt bad. Or guilty. Guy sighed and rolled his eyes, rubbing a hand down the side of his face as he shook his head. "Other, Other, Other. What have I told you about being silly?" Other squeaked, her hands flying to her mouth.

"I'msorry." Guy laughed again.

"And stop apologizing, geeze. Are you like this with that boyfriend of yours too?" Other smiled weakly and rubbed at her belly some more, comforting herself for her own awkwardness. She wasn't like this with her...boyfriend. Because he wasn't her boyfriend anymore! But her parents didn't know that. Yet, anyway. They couldn't see her fingers because of the green and white mittens she was wearing. Yes, mittens. Other always preferred them over gloves. So because of these mittens they still wouldn't see the ring on her finger. Other stared down at her hands thoughtfully, debating whether to take them off right now or not. No, she'd wait. Both her parents had to be here, and they had to be comfortable. She wanted to do this right if not extremely late. So for now the mittens stayed on and she snuggled into her coat, closing her eyes until Vionna returned with a cup of tea for her. Other's eyes fluttered open and she held her hands out to accept the tea that was being offered to her, at least until her mother noticed she was still wearing her coat and her mittens.

"...Other, are you in a hurry?" She asked with a raised brow. Other blinked.

"N-no?" That was a weird thing to ask. Why would she be in a hurry to leave? They'd planned for her to come visit days ago! Vionna chuckled and set the tea down on the coffee table where her pregnant daughter couldn't easily just bend over and reach with her stomach now in the way, tilting her head and putting her hands on her hips. Other just stared, confused, her eyes wide. What was wrong? "Um...I...I don't understa--"

"Sweetheart, it's nice in here. You don't need to keep your coat and mittens on." Oh. Right. That. Other giggled nervously and rubbed her hands together, deciding to clumsily unbutton her coat first. It would be too much of a bother for her to stand up and take it off, she was fine with sitting on it. It was really warm so she would be fine! The coat was shrugged off and she flicked at the blue and green pompoms on the side of her mittens with her thumb, staring at the cup of tea. She couldn't grab it like this...she'd have to be sneaky.

...That wasn't something Other was really capable of. Intentionally, anyway.

Other took off the left mitten first, holding it in her left hand while she took off the right. It kept the ring hidden well enough that neither Vionna nor Guy noticed the tiny glint of silver on her finger; she only knew this because Vionna didn't react, she merely picked up the cup of tea and held it out for Other again, letting her put the mittens on her lap and taking the warm cup and saucer. Ahhh, that felt really nice! Luckily the way she held her saucer kept them from seeing the ring just yet, not because she was trying to hide it Other just wanted to make sure she was the one to tell them! Vionna sat down beside Guy, taking the remote to turn the television off completely as the man gave a strangled cry of dismay. Noooo! He was watching that! He couldn't hear it but he could see! Other couldn't help but giggle behind her teacup at the little scene, sipping at it with a happy little sigh. She wouldn't have had much problem with him watching the game while she was here, it wasn't him not caring it just...he really liked football. He'd even wanted her to try and be a cheerleader when she was younger so he could go to the football games.

It didn't work, but he still tried.

Suddenly, Vionna broke the silence. "So what was it you wanted to tell us, Other?" Other gasped and nearly spilled her tea from the little jump the sudden ice breaker. It obviously wasn't to tell them that she was pregnant; Vionna had been there when she first found out and, well, it was obvious just from looking at her that their sweet little Other was pregnant. Her face lit up after a moment, sipping at her tea and carefully putting it down on a small end table beside her. She then put her hands on her stomach, a bright smile on her face.

"Well, um...f-first, I'm really sorry I've been so busy." Vionna chuckled.

"Don't be sorry. You've got a lot on your plate right now. I think we of all people should understand that." Oh, that was true. Other breathed out another giggle and nodded, bringing up her left hand to bury it in her hair and push some of it out of her face. She held the hair behind her head for now.

"I know, but I'm still sorry. But um...well...mine and Val's anniversary was a little before Christmas." And that had been...a fun night, to say to least. The very least. A soft blush began to show on Other's cheeks as she thought about the entire night from start to finish, focusing mostly on what mattered most to her: The proposal, and telling Val about the baby. Vionna raised a brow and tilted her head, exchanging a look with Guy. They knew how they celebrated anniversaries...but no...not their Other? She was such a shy little thing, it was a wonder she was even pregnant. Their attention turned back to her when she finally resumed speaking, clearing her throat. Eh heh. Right. She was here to tell them something. "Well, um. We...talked." Boy, that sure sounded very interesting. "And..." She smiled. "And he asked me to marry him~." Other held out her hand for her parents to see. Vionna gasped and was immediately off her seat, stepping close to hold Other's hand and get a better look at the ring Other so proudly wore on her finger. Incredible! It was gorgeous and suited her so well! And her baby was getting married!

Vionna let go of Other's hand to lean over and throw her arms around her daughter in a big hug, squealing with excitement. Her baby was getting married! That was amazing! While Vionna showered Other in words of praise and congratulations, Guy just stared with a look of shock. Other...was getting married? But they talked, and he asked her to marry him. "Wait. He's not doing this because he knocked you up, is he?" Guy asked with a frown, earning himself a glare from Vionna over her shoulder and a pout from Other. She looked honestly hurt by what he'd said, and that look on her face made him feel so bad but...but the way she'd said it...

"No, that isn't why he proposed." Other huffed a little angrier than she meant to. She loved her father but she did not like him talking about Val or her in that way; he probably didn't mean to insult her, but by saying she was 'knocked up' and 'only doing this because she was' was just not fair! At least she was getting married! "In fact he didn't even know. I wasn't given a chance to tell him until after, and he said it changed nothing." Guy still frowned, but apologetically. Of course...Other wasn't so stupid she'd go and accept something as serious as a marriage proposal just so she wouldn't be like them. The possibility had still been there though. Vionna peppered her face in kisses.

"Don't listen to him, Other. He's just jealous." She laughed, Other blushed. No he wasn't! She knew he had no interest in getting married! He was just worried...hopefully. "I'm so happy for you, sweetie! Can we meet him sometime?"

Other lit up at that question. "Yes! You just have to! U-um, I was actually going to ask..." She moved to peek around Vionna, looking excited once again. Her mother moved to sit back down, letting Guy perk up and wait for her ask her question. "Well, you see, Val and his daughter Miran--"

"He has a daughter?" Guy blinked, as did Other.

"Yes...a-adopted her. Anyway, um. He and Miranda are going to move in with me, but they have a lot of stuff that'll need moving...and um...I was hoping you could help out, Daddy? Val's father is going to help, and I'm sure his mother will be there...and maybe his sister and her husband." Because she did want to meet everyone. A smile quirked up on his lips at that, sighing and folding his arms behind his head, he leaned back against the loveseat.

"Alright, alright. So wait, does this mean we lose our rooms?" Other sighed, rolling her eyes.

"You never used them anyway. But thank you, Daddy. It means a lot to me." Guy's smile grew to a grin and he gave his daughter a thumbs up, propping his feet up on the coffee table. Other picked up her cup of tea again and sipped at it.

"So what's your new name gonna be?" Guy piped up curiously. They all knew how Other felt about her initials, and they did feel somewhat bad for the decision they had so selfishly made for their own amusement; they obviously didn't stop to think how their kid would feel about it. Other grinned with excitement and rubbed at her belly with her free hand.

"Stark~!" ...Stark? Guy blinked.

"...S-Stark? Really?" Stark...Stark. He'd dated a woman with that last name. But Stark was a common name, right? "Uh, his parents married?" Other shook her head, she would have explained they were divorced but she was drinking. Guy chuckled nervously. Oh, crap! Did this mean he'd ******** Other's future mother-in-law? "How...interesting." Other and Vionna both stared at him now, looking extremely confused by Guy's change in behavior.

Other tilted her head, holding her teacup on her lap. "Is...something the matter?" Guy shook his head, waving a hand dismissively.

"Nah, it's fine. Nothing. Just remembering something at a bad time...so...when's this wedding?" Other lifted her cup to sip a bit more tea before she answered, patting her belly with her free hand.

"After the baby. It would be too much stress to do both at the same time..." Not to mention Other wanted to be able to wear a really pretty dress. She wouldn't get white, because...she couldn't bring herself to lie. Obviously she wasn't a virgin if she was having a baby with Val! She wasn't some holy mother having a blessed child from God. Though Val might as well be one to her with how devoted she was to him, apparently. But even still she wanted to be able to have a pretty dress, white or not. She'd been looking! There were plenty of dresses that fit her ideal images! But she was slightly embarrassed to admit the dress thing to her parents, she knew her mother would laugh and say she was being silly and well...her father would have no idea what the big deal was about wedding dresses. For all he knew wedding dresses were just something the bride wore for a few minutes and then she just whipped it off the moment she was alone with her new husband. Other would...be scandalized by such a suggestion. "But I'm still looking at things...it's a lot of fun!" She giggled, blushing with excitement. Other couldn't help but often picture herself instead of the women in the magazines, or even picture Val instead of the grooms, and sometimes she had even imagined Miranda dressed as one of the little flower girls. She never thought in a million years she'd get a chance to do any of that! And honestly, despite everything happening I the 'wrong order' than she had planned and desired...well, she wouldn't change a thing. Okay that was a lie, she could do without the morning sickness and the need to throw up at the very thought of soup or fish. For some reason those were the only two foods she couldn't even consider eating, it was a bit annoying.

Though thinking about food at all was beginning to make her hungry. Other finished her tea and set the cup down on the table beside her, putting her hands on her belly and looking hopefully to her mother. "Um...would it be alright if...we had dinner now?" Other asked shyly, a bit embarrassed to be asking for food. Vionna laughed and nodded, standing up and reaching over to pet Other's hair. She understood perfectly what Other was going through.

"Of course, sweetheart. Is there anything you can't have?"

"Um...soup...and fish, apparently." Vionna nodded and stepped around the loveseat to get to the kitchen, leaving Other and Guy alone in the living room. Other fidgeted awkwardly in her chair and Guy merely reached over to grab the remote and turn the game back on. Sweet, his team was still winning! Other glanced at the television as well, leaning back a bit more comfortably in her chair with her hands on her growing belly. They watched television for a bit, though Other's interest in the game was vague and only half there, until Vionna finished with dinner and called them into the kitchen to eat. Other accepted help up from her father, following him into the kitchen. It was...different than she was used to these days. Other had been eating dinner with Val and Miranda, she kind of missed dinners with her parents. But would she trade a dinner with Val and Miranda for a dinner with them? Hmm...no, she wouldn't give that up for anything. And now she wouldn't have to! Other glanced at the ring on her left hand and couldn't help but giggle excitedly once again.
