Well I'm a hippy, but I don't look like one. I wear Jeans and Tee-shirts white London and such on them.
It's weird people call me a British Punk Rocker. Whats with the rocker! its stupid how people streotype you. But me best friends put me in the British Hippy place.
Well to me you have to look deep down to see what you are.

The thread was not about how the hippies look. It was what they were supporting. You should read what the thread says before you use it as an example for something it isnt. The thread was about slavery of children to make your shoes. It wasnt about wearing hip flowery shoes that hippies wear. And no, hippie is not a fashion statement. To me, it is an approach to life which emphasizes peace, love, freedom, and respect to all life, and the earth.

Its an anti fashion statement as the hippy look is the exact opposite of the government's ideal clothing.

It's something that each person must define for themself. For some, it's merely a fashion statement, and they'll outgrow it. (This type of person offends me, but that's just me.) Then, there are the ones who think it's cool and force themselves into the lifestyle to try and fit in. And they eventually realize it's not them. But then there are the people that just come to it naturally. It's what they are. It's their way of being. THESE are the true hippies, I believe.
Defining the word itself though is an impossible task, and not something to be taken lightly.

i think of a hippie as being someone who can look into them selves and others while being in touch with nature and as pl&s wrote, emphasize peace, love, and respect to all life. hippieness is NOT a fasion statment. it is a way of life, and kind of reminds me of the bhuddist nirvana, being happy the way you are, not caring about the world, but still sharing love and happiness.

It's becoming one at my school... I mean... you have the group of awesome people who are ACTUALLY hippes, but then I see a lot of people who definitely aren't hippies who are dressing kind of crazy and hippie like. I'm really not sure if this is a good thing though, being different was kind of awesome. Now they are all ruining it for me... eh. Oh wells.
