Dear Journal,
It has been some time since I have sat down and written my thoughts down inside one of these. In fact the last time I did it, I was a teenager. It seems so long ago when I look back, when I know it really isn't. Things seem to move so fast, but at the same time they are perfect.
Where do I even begin with my feelings? I have a perfect guy in my life, who wants to be my husband. I love him, and he loves me. He is great with the adopted kids we have. And soon he will be an even greater father to the one I am carrying.
Yeah, that's right, I'm pregnant. And I couldn't be more thrilled. Zhane, at first, was freaking out just as bad as I was, but now we're both excited. We bought a ton of toys and clothes, and the bedroom where the baby will be sleeping is nearly done.
Everything is honestly perfect.
Nani

Hello, Baby
The books say, right now, you are about the size of a grapefruit. Its hard to believe something so little could cause such a fuss, but I want you to know that there are a lot of people who are excited to meet you.
The first person you'll probably meet is Tinania. But you'll call her mommy. You don't know it, but that warm, safe, place you're living in right now, and that feeling that someone loves you? That's all her. Your mommy. She's grateful every day for you. You should see her smile when we talk about what we'll name you. She's beautiful, and she knows you'll be beautiful too.
And then there's me. When you can talk, you'll probably learn to call me daddy. You might need to go easy on me....just like you're new to being a baby, I'll be new to being a father. We'll have a lot to learn about each other. The world is so big, and I want to show you as much as I can, if you'll let me.
You'll have to meet Seiji and Sellexi, of course. They're your big brother and sister who are going to teach you all you need to know about how to play, which toys are the most fun, maybe even how to ask nicely to stay up an extra half hour. Seiji can't wait to be your big brother. He's got so much he wants to tell you about. I think you'll like him. He already likes you.
Everything's here. Everything's ready.
When you feel set to see the world, we'll all be waiting to welcome you into it.
We love you.
-- Daddy

I know our parents mean well.
I know we haven't been the best at planning things out (up to and including the wedding).
Nani and I BOTH know the baby is coming very soon and we haven't even decided on who we'd have liked to have at the ceremony.
But I wish they'd talked to us. A little more warning would have been nice. A little imput would have been even nicer. All we've been given to go on at the moment is that we're to meet them in the park in three days, dressed and ready.
We have no idea, whatsoever, to expect.
In other words, I guess it'll be business as usual.

Fairy wings could easily be compared to tissue paper. Fragile and thin, but easy to unfurl compared to the leather of a dragon's wing. That's why it would be Calvin, despite his normal silence, that would be testing his wings out first. The newborn is still so young that he can barely turn over, but his wings are moving in a controlled, slow, and intentional manner-- almost like a metronome.
Jealousy is a powerful motivator. Upon seeing her brother's wings flap so nicely, Danica lets out a squeal that could only come from a baby dragon. For the next hour, she struggles to make her wings move. Her fingers clench, her toes wiggle, and she scrunches her nose up so much that it looks like she's about to sneeze. Finally, her wings twitch at her command. Their beating is the opposite of Calvin's: fast, erratic, and strong. It's causing quite a commotion in the nursery!
