Cute Fairy

Quote:
Risa sighed, the fae was sitting on one of the steps leading to her front porch. She was waiting for a certain dark haired fae to show up. She had something rather important to tell him--though... what if he left her because of it? She had almost died the first time.. Now..

She looked down at her stomach, almost guiltily. She couldn't let that happen. If she got sick, the baby would die.

Matthias had NO idea what so ever what was going on. Hopefully, it wasn't anything too bad....Risa had sounded a bit upset on the phone.

On the way to her house, he could have sworn he saw two heads of orange darting among the bushes along the street. Odd.

Risa stood up after spotting Matth, and made her way to him. "Hi, Matth." She said, forcing a smile onto her face. Hopefully she was hiding the weight she'd gained well, she had no idea.

"You might want to sit down." She gestured to her porch. The fae took a deep breath. "I think we'd better get married, Matth."

Matthias paled, if that was even possible. "Wh-what?" He said, taking the offered seat. Oh, he had a feeling he'd need to sit down. An ominous, foreboding feeling twisted in his stomach; please, whoever was up there, don't let her be.....oh gods....

"I think we'd better get married." Risa repeated, blushing and moving her arms from in front of her stomach to behind her back. "See.. I'm going to have a baby." Please don't let him faint. Let him be happy.

She would have prayed, but she didn't know who to pray to. "Is that... Is that okay?"

Matthias' eyes widened. "A....baby..." he said, his tone blank. She was having a.... Gods be damned! "I....um...." He was speechless, and looked like he'd just been hit with a ton of bricks. What was he going to do?

"Yeah.. A baby." Risa said with a nod, and a slight frown. "Are you mad?" She asked. That was her worst fear, that he would be angry with her.

She knelt down and gave him a hug.

Matthias shook his head slowly. "No, I am not mad. Just...I am surprised." he said, his tone still blank. He hugged her back, trying to ignore the baby bump.

Risa sat down on the step below Matth's, and leaned against him. She was relieved that he wasn't angry--but he seemed more than just surprised. Even Ben hadn't been this bad when the princess had told him--well, Ben had fainted, but had seemed to get over it rather quickly afterward.

Maybe fainting was better?

Matthias sighed. This is what he got for one moment of being spontaneous. Damn. He put an arm around Risa, giving her a gentle hug. "So....um, when did you find out?" he asked, his tone soft.

"Yesterday." Risa said, looking up at him. "I'd guessed before, but Thali insisted I make sure. She seemed to think it was a funny idea that I'd gained weight by working in a sweetshop." The fae frowned, and shook her head.

"Miles seems to think it'll be a boy--and he's usually right. So... I guess we should start looking up names?"

Matthias nodded. "I suppose we should...." he said, glancing at her stomach. For a second, a split second, he thought of how easy it'd be to rip the unborn child from her womb, to destroy the small obstacle in front of his plans. He shook the idea from his head; he was not a bestial creature, so he would not give in to such urges. Besides....the child was a part of him. He couldn't hurt him or Risa.

As if sensing what Matthias had been thinking, Risa put her hands protectively over her stomach. The fae glared at her companion, and moved an inch or so away from him. She didn't know what he'd thought, but she knew it wasn't good.

"I like the name Milo." She mused, seeming to have recovered.

Matthias blinked as she moved away. Crap, was she a mind reader or something. "I am sorry." he said softly, looking at his feet. "Milo.....that is a very nice name. Simplistic, but nice all the same."

Risa sighed, and moved so she was sitting next to Matth. She leaned her head against his shoulder. If she couldn't trust him, she couldn't trust anyone. "Do you have a name you like?" She asked.

Matthias smiled slightly. "Well, I have always liked the name Loki." he said, giving her a small hug. It, too, was short and simple, but it still carried weight with it.

Risa was quick to return his smile. "The Norse god of fire, right? Loki, the prankster. I like it." She put an arm around him. "Let's plan that wedding then. What colors do you like?"

Matthias smiled, though the smile quickly slipped off his face. "Hm.....dark earthen colors? Like dark ochre, evergreen, and black?" he suggested, highly doubting she'd spring for those colors.

"How about sky colors?" Risa suggested. "Blues, silvers, whites? Oh, and black for you. It brings your eyes out the best." The fae paused. "Oh, not in a church. I don't like churches. Maybe we could have one in Thali's back yard? It's big enough. What kind of flowers do you like, Matth?"

Matthias smiled; as long as he was in dark colors, he didn't really care. Okay, he did, but...it didn't matter. "We could have it in the lot behind Stasia's home." he said, smiling and forgetting to mention what that lot was. "And I like begonias."

"You mean the graveyard?" Risa shook her head, Miles had told her all about that from his last visit with Zemel. "I'd really prefer to do it in Thali's yard--graveyards make Miles sick, and I'd hate for him to have to miss it."

The fae paused, and smiled. "You're referencing to an old threat, aren't you? Begonias are pretty."

Matthias nodded. "Thali's yard it is, then." he said, nodding. He then smiled. "Of course not." he said, his sing-song tone totally giving him away. He smiled. "Perhaps begonias and sweet peas?" he suggested, thinking a bit more about it. "And yellow poppies."

"Sweet pea and poppies are fine, too." Risa nodded, before she gave him a stern look. "As long as they aren't red. No symbols of death at my wedding. Maybe I'll ask Thali's advice on the flowers, she knows more about them than I do, with that garden of hers. Maybe she'll know what flowers to use.. I like lilies, that sound good? White ones." Uh-oh, now Risa was thinking about meanings. "And roses, spirea, lilacs, daffodils." At least all her flowers had possitive meanings...

"And spider flowers." Matthias said. It was a wonder he was able to keep a straight face and refrain from chuckling. "And black roses." He smiled lightly, trying to ignore the fact that he was nervous.

"Spider flowers, huh?" Risa giggled and shook her head at him. "I think we've done enough of that for now." The fae's smile faded, her eyes narrowing. "I've already said no death symbols, Matth." She said. "If Miles sees them, he'll start thinking about how everyone will die, and get sick again." She gave the dark haired fae a glare.

"I know you don't like him. He's told me."

"I have no idea what you're...." He trailed off as her demeanor changed. "I have nothing against Miles." he said, his tone calm. "He is a fine young man."

"He says you don't like him." Risa said flatly. "He says you act like you're afraid of him, and don't talk to him very often. He says..." She sighed. "Matthias, if we're going to get married, you're going to be his father. He's been really upset about you not liking him."

She paused, and frowned at him. "Is it because of what he is?" She asked. "I suppose oracles aren't very common..." She glared at him. If a certain princess had been there, she would have very helpfully told Matthias that the only way to calm an angry Risa down was to hug her.

"And I said I have nothing against him." Matthias said, getting a little defensive. "I simply do not know him very well, that is all." That, and the little blighter scared him. "And I am fully aware that marriage would make him my son; I am not ignorant of that."

Risa shot him another glare, before her mood shifted entirely. She frowned, and sniffled. "I just want you to get along.." Uh-oh, mood swings. Anyone intelligent would have told Matthias that he was on thin ice, staying around a fae having trouble controlling her emotions.

"I just want... Argh, Matthias!" The mood seemed to shift again. "You and Miles need to have a bonding day. Then we can have the wedding."

Matthias blinked, not sure what to make of the sudden mood changes. Confusion spread across his face, his mouth setting in a frown. "A bonding day?" What in seven hells was that? "Risa....are you feeling okay?" he asked, a little concerned.

Risa frowned at him, and shot him another glare. "You know. Father-son bonding. Since you two don't get along, you'll have a day to settle your differences." She crossed her arms, and leaned into him.

Her expression softened. "Actually, I'm not feeling at all well.." She admitted. "I don't know what's gotten into me."

Matthias just nodded; father-son bonding? Oh, he was SO excited. He put an arm around her, giving her a gentle smile. Oh gods, it was already starting. Someone up there, strike him down now, please?

"I...I am sure you will be fine after some tea and some rest." he said, nodding once.

Risa merely nodded, and stood up carefully. "I'll go do that." She said. "You promise, though? You'll spend the day with Miles?" She spoke as if she expected him to leave, and without waiting for an answer, she went inside.

Ugh, stomach aches.

Matthias nodded. "Yes, I promise." he said, not liking it one bit. He blinked as she went inside, leaving him alone on the steps. He sighed and stood up, stretching a bit.

In all honesty, Risa was really waiting to see if he would follow her. Her stomach was really quite upset--she had expected it though, when she'd found out she was pregnant. "You can come in, you know." She said, opening the door a crack.

Matthias blinked. "Oh..." he said, smiling slightly before heading towards the door. He thought he was being dismissed. (Well, that and he was going to sneak off before he was forced into this "bonding" thing.)

Risa opened the door and led him inside. "Miles! Matthias is here to see you." She called, looking up the stairs. The orange haired boy seemed to be very reluctant to come downstairs.

"Mom, I'm pretty sure Matth's here to see you." He said, before giving Matthias a friendly smile. He turned back to his mother. "Your stomach bothering you again? I told you to take it easy." He shook his head at her. "You look worn out. Been having mood swings again?"

Risa frowned, she still wasn't used to having a son who told her what to do. "I'll go rest. Matth's agreed that you two need to settle your differences and start getting along." She said, looking to Matth, and then her son. "Isn't that right, Matth?"

"Well, actually..." The man sighed; he hadn't expected it to be so soon! "Yeah, that's right." he said, offering a small smile in return and reminding himself to be polite. This was going to be his future son, like it or not, so he might as well get used to the idea.

Risa smiled, and left the living room.

Miles looked to Matth. "You want to play a game?" He asked, giving the man a smile. "It's nice to see you again." Yes, he really was a normal third grade aged boy, when he wasn't predicting something. "Tic-tac-toe, um.. What do you want to do, Matth?"

Matthias nodded. "It is nice to see you as well." he said, looking at the younger one. "You choose the game; I am not very familiar with such frivolities."

"Follow me." Miles said, leading Matth to their backyard. "Want to play catch?" He asked, picking up a red playground ball. "I can teach you how to play, if you don't know how.." He gave the fae a confused look, before smiling again. "Oh.. So I don't forget. Thank you."

Matthias followed him. "I am sure I can figure the game out....it sounds simple enough." he said, nodding once. He then blinked. "What are you thanking me for?" he asked, confused.

Miles nodded and smiled. He was silent for a moment, seemingly thinking about what he was about to say next. "Saving my Mom's life. I never thanked you--you went away before I could."

He paused, and threw the ball towards Matth, letting it bounce once before it reached the fae. Maybe Ginger and Zemel were right, maybe he and Matth could get along.

Matthias shook his head. "You need not thank me for that." he said, catching the ball. He examined it a moment before tossing it back. What was the point of this game? He sure didn't know.

Miles caught the ball, and smiled at his future father. "Still, thank you." He said, before passing the ball back towards the fae. "Um. Matth, do you think we can be friends?" The boy blushed from embarassment. "Ever since I was born, I've wanted a Dad. It'd really.. well..." The boy frowned and shook his head.

"It'd really suck if when I finally got one, we didn't get along."

Matthias caught the ball, then thought a moment. "Friends." he repeated, mulling the thought around inhis head. "Yes, I do believe we could try being friends." he said, nodding once before tossing the ball back. He offered a small smile, but no other words. After all, what was he to say?

Miles gave his brightest smile yet, one that could have rivaled his mother's, maybe. So Ginger and Zemel had been right, after all! Matthias didn't hate him!

He passed the ball back, still wearing that silly grin. He'd have a dad. And younger siblings. "I'll even babysit." Miles said, looking to Matth. "I'm good with Aife."

Matthias chuckled; young ones were so easily pleased. It was almost cute. "'Zuba may not like that; she's taken a liking to babysitting the little ones." he said, catching the ball. "You will have to speak to her about that; I do not think she will willingly give up her job."

For a split second, Miles frowned. Then the smile was back in place. "Alright, 'Zuba can babysit Aife, Ellie and Kole. As long as I get to help take care of the new baby." He gestured to the house. "She hasn't put a claim on him, has she?" He looked so hopeful, it was almost comic.

"I'll be the best big brother on Gaia!" He said, giving Matth a bright smile. "Ellie's hard to be a big brother to, she's always bossing me around." He explained.

Matthias chuckled. "She does not even know of the child, therefor she hasn't laid claim on him." he said, shaking his head. How young ones managed to be so amusing was beyond him. "I am sure you will be, Miles." he said, offering an amused grin.

"That's good." Miles said happily. "What are you and Mom going to name him?" Yes, he knew there would be twins, he knew what their names would be. But he was working hard not to make predictions. He was working hard to make Matthias like him.

The game was forgotten. Miles preferred talking, anyway.

Matthias smiled slightly. "We are thinking either Milo or Loki." he said, looking a bit confused. Didn't the boy already know this? Hmm....maybe he didn't see EVERYTHING...interesting.

Miles nodded, and smiled at the fae. "Nice names. I bet if you name him Loki, he'll turn out like his namesake." He sat on the grass, grinning up at Matth. "He'd be fun to play with, if he was."

Matthias had a feeling Miles was more than guessing, but he didn't voice this thought. "I can imagine." he said, nodding. He sat on the grass carefully, trying to avoid grass stains.

"Milo is a cool name too. Means 'peaceful warrior', right? But I don't know how anyone could be a peaceful warrior.. Warriors aren't very peaceful, are they?" He paused, and looked up to the fae. "Who do you hope he'll look like?" He asked.

Matthias chuckled. "It is a bit of an oxymoron." he mused, folding his hands in his lap. "And it does not matter to me what he'll look like." he answered, being honest.

"I hope he's nice." Miles said with a nod, before pausing and looking at his future father. "Wait. You mean even if he was a scary vampire guy with wings, you'd still like him? Cool! I hope he looks like that! But I don't think he will. You and Mom aren't scary vampire guys, and neither of you have wings." He gave a mock pout. "Lame. But having younger siblings will be awesome!"

Matthias nodded. "Yes, even if he were a scary vampire guy with wings." he said, trying not to chuckle. "I am sure it will be." He reached over, patting the lad on the head.

Miles gave the fae a bright smile. "Good, then you'll have no problem liking me." He decided. If Matthias could like a scary vampire guy, he could certainly like Miles. "Oh, I'm not a vampire guy. See? No wings." He pointed to his back needlessly.

Matthias rolled his eyes. "I can see that, Miles. I am not visually impaired." he said, shaking his head. He sighed, falling into an awkward silence.

Miles looked at Matth, frowning slightly. "Why don't you like me, Matth?" He asked, before looking away from the fae. "I haven't done anything wrong.. I've tried everything to get you to like me... If you'd like a vampire, even.. Why can't you like me? Is it because I'm human? I know we're rather boring.." He sighed. "Aunt Thali tells me so every time she sees me."

Matthias blinked. "I like you just fine, Miles." he said, confused. "I have nothing against you." Okay, so that last one was a little less than truthful, but it was close to honest. "I could care less about race and/or species."

"That's not true." Miles said, shaking his head at the fae. "Everytime you see me, you act as if I frighten you." The boy sighed. "Am I really that scary?"

Matthias frowned. "You do not scare me, nor are you frightening." he said, his tone calm. "I just simply feel a little uncomfortable when I am around you, that is all. And that can be attributed to the fact that I do not know you very well."

"That's what Ginger and Zemel said." Miles said with a nod, though he was frowning. "You seem comfortable around everyone else, though.. Just not me. I mean, you get along with Mom--and you don't know her well."

Matthias frowned. "With your mother....that's different." he said, his tone still calm. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place; how was he going to talk himself out of this one?

"But you don't know her any better than you know me. And you seem comfortable around Joshua, and you've known me longer.." The boy gave him a confused look. "Is it because I'm an Oracle? I can try to get rid of that.. I've been trying."

"Trust me, I am not comfortable around Joshua." he said, chuckling. The boy was friendly enough, though Matthias still found it hard to get used to him. "And I've spent more time with your mother than I have you." He purposely avoided that last question.

"Josh said you like him." Miles said, frowning slightly. Had his older cousin lied to him? "You didn't answer my last question." The little oracle said, looking up at the fae. "It must be because of that. It's because I'm different."

Matthias inwardly groaned. "I like him. That doesn't mean I'm used to him." He shook his head. "No, that is not it. To be honest, I could care less if you are "different"."

Miles brightened considerably. "So, you like me even if I'm an Oracle?" He asked, giving the dark haired fae a smile. "You're not scared of me?"

Matthias nodded. "Yes, I like you even if you're an oracle." he said. "And no, I am not scared of you. It takes a lot more than a little boy to scare me."

Miles smiled, having been reassured. He suddenly moved, and put his arms around the dark haired fae. Yay, hugs! "I'm glad you're the one who'll be my dad." He said, before pausing.

"What about Ellie, do you like her? I don't think there's anyone like her."

Matthias blinked, patting the boy. "Uh, many thanks..." he said, feeling a bit awkward. "Ellie is....interesting, to say the least." he said, chuckling. "She will take more getting used to than anyone else."

Miles shook his head at the fae. "If you're really as old as my mom says, how come you don't know how to hug?" He asked. "I'll teach you." He gave Matth another to demonstrate. "See?"

He paused, and gave a grin. "Ellie is different. Mom thinks she's a goddess, or something. But she doesn't talk about that much--she just says Ellie likes stories about Demeter. Hey! What is she -is- Demeter? Isn't she the goddess of the harvest? No wonder flowers keep popping up everywhere!"

Matthias chuckled, simply nodding and listening to the lad. A goddess? That was laughable; she was just a baby! He doubted she actually was a goddess.....but from a goddess, now...now that was another matter entirely.

Miles frowned, and looked up to the fae. "I'm serious, what if she's Demeter? She's always threatening to turn me into a dandelion, Matth. And she can tell the future sometimes! She knew you and Mom'd get married. Did she tell you?"

"Maybe she's just a gifted little girl." Matthias said, his tone calm and serious. "And yes, she told me." Frankly, he wasn't sure what to make of the bossy little girl.

Miles shook his head. "Her skin's green, her blood's white. I found out yesterday when she scraped her knee. It's just like when you pick a dandelion." He looked up to smile at his future father, before...

Well speak of the devil. A brightly clad though obviously green skinned infant was making her way towards the two. It seemed as if she'd just learned to walk properly, though she was still stumbling. Miles groaned.

"Daddy!" Ellie cried, putting her arms out towards Matth, before toddling over to him.

Matthias took a moment before looking, not used to being called "Daddy". He was used to "Orita" and "baba". "Hello, Ellie." he said, greeting the little child as formally as one would an adult. "How are you?"

So much for father son bonding time, Ellie seemed to have taken over with her very presence.

"Daddy." She repeated, before crawling into Matthias' lap. She looked at him with her strange, bright eyes. "I good. Tol' ooo, Daddy. Tol' ooo be my Daddy soon. Ooo no lissen, but I wight. I wight."

Matthias chuckled, patting her on the head. "Yes, yes, you told me. You were right." he agreed, if only to appease her. He offered a small smile to the child, who seemed to have made herself comfortable on his lap.

Ellie gave the fae a bright smile, showing the only teeth she had--three white baby teeth were poking their way out of her green gums. "Luv ooo, Daddy." She said, taking a fistful of the fae's hair, petting it.

Instead of predicting something, she looked up at him. "Pwetty Daddy."

Matthias smiled, giving the little one a small, awkward hug, obviously not used to giving the gesture. "I, uh.....thanks." he said, deciding not to bother arguing with the little one.

Ellie returned the hug as well as she could, smiling brightly. "Tell stowy, Daddy?" She asked, tilting her head slightly. "Tell stowy bout Daddy. My Daddy the bestest! Miles lissen too." The tiny goddess glared at her brother, as if he'd refuse. When he nodded, she smiled.

"Tell stowy bout when Daddy little."

Matthias chuckled, shaking his head. "No, no, that would bore you." he said, chuckling. "How about a nice faerie tale or something, hm? That would be much more entertaining." That, and a "faerie" tale wouldn't involve him.

Ellie shook her head, crossing her arms. She looked very much like a rebellious teenager--which was remarkable, since she was an infant. "If no stowy, I cry." She said, her lip trembling.

Matthias sighed; it couldn't be easy, could it? "Ellie, my childhood was not very exciting. You'd be bored." he said, only partially lying. "Please, refrain from crying, okay?" he said, patting the little one on the head.

Ellie sniffled, and nodded. "Tell stowy bout ooo an' Mommy." The green infant said, looking up at the fae. "Tell stowy dat gonna come true. No pass stowy. Cuz ooo was mean to Mommy." The infant looked stern for a moment, before smiling. "Tell happy luv stowy."

Matthias inwardly sighed. "Alright.....who wants ice cream?" he asked, attempting to change the subject. And what better a distraction than frozen dairy treats?

Ellie jumped up from Matthias' lap, bouncing up and down. "Me! Me me me me! I wan ice cweam! Gimme!" She looked around, as if the fae was hiding it somewhere. "Where ice cweam, Daddy? Den tell stowy? Tell faerie tale if no wan tell bout Daddy and Mommy?"

Miles shook his head grinning. "But I was looking forward to that story, Matth.." He did his best to sound disappointed, it didn't work out.

Matthias stood up. "Alright. Ice cream, the a faerie tale." he said, smiling lightly. He looked over to Miles. "I'm sure you can probably guess the story anyways, Miles." he said, chuckling.

Plots Post

It's funny how Josh has so many of these, when Miles doesn't have one. As usual, these are for me to read, and not for chuu.

Nearing Miles' teen stage, he'll fall into frustration. he'll discover that he is unable to tell his own future--as well as a few of his friends because they share the same fate.

PRP With Nattie when she grows, Miles has only met her twice--and both of those times she was falling asleep.

Josh will come into Miles' plot more, but I won't say more in case someone's reading this.

I assume Matthias will come into plot more, seeing as he and Risa are engaged--and Risa's about to have his kids.

Miles will try to stop using his ability, to make Matth like him more. Despite the reassurances he's recieved, he's still got a feeling said fae doesn't like him very much.

Due to the rules Greek Oracles must live by, Miles won't be able to get married. That doesn't mean he won't have a romantic interest. In fact.. He has two of them currently. It'll narrow down to one soon. Miles is confused by his feelings for Z. and carries them over to G.

Loki and Milo to be born soon. Risa to move in with Matth? Must consult Marina.

Miles strained to look over Risa's shoulder when she finally arrived home. She'd been in the hospital for a long time; well, he assumed she'd been in the hospital. More likely she had been at Matthias' house, leaving Miles to watch over Ellie. He was standing on his tip-toes now, but was looking in vain. She wasn't holding anything, her hands were loosely hung at her sides.

"Where are they?" Miles asked finally.

Risa turned to her oldest, and gave him a smile. "They're probably exploring the house. You know how Ellie was when she first came here." Good thing it was already baby-proofed then.

Wait. Exploring? That didn't sound like something newborns should be doing... Or be able to do, for that matter. Miles glanced around the room and caught sight of a head of brown hair. He grinned. "You mean, Ellie was right?" he asked, with a slight tilt of his head. "She said the babies were wrong." He couldn't see anything wrong with them, though. Except that they were bigger, and looked more like toddlers than the newborns they were.

"They aren't," Risa reassured him. "Just different. They grew faster than even most fae do, it's true. They seem to be perfectly normal toddlers. If not a bit loud."

"I can deal with loud," Miles said with a smile. "I wonder how much trouble we can cause before your wedding. One of them has to be the ring bearer. Maybe both of them could, if each of them hold one ring! But I don't think either of them would like wearing a tuxedo." He grinned, and looked up at his mother. "Of course, Ellie'll have to flower girl. I think a dress that goes with her eyes would be best. Yellow, or pastels. But..." And at this he paused, putting a hand to his chin in thought.

"I don't think Sammi would appreciate being left out though, when it comes to her Kitty's wedding. So she'll have to be one too. I think the flower girls should have the same color dresses. And we can't really leave Reiya out... Do you think Matth would object to having three flower girls?"

Risa shook her head, grinning. Somehow Miles had set himself in charge. "I'm sure he won't mind," she said. "Thali almost refused to be my maid of honor, but in the end I convinced her. She still hates weddings, you know. I don't think she's ever actually attended one, besides hers and Ben's."

"She's an escape artist. You better be careful Mom, she might try to weasel her way out of this one, too. Anyway, did Matthias tell you when I can start calling him Dad?"

Unfinished RP between Marina and myself--only here for plot purposes.

Quote:
Matthias sat at the cafe, waiting patiently for Risa. He'd have to thank Stasia again for agreeing to watch the little ones. He had everything planned....this was going to be a big day for him and Risa. Part of him told him he should wait, but a bigger part of him was urging him forward towards this decision. Hopefully, everything went according to plan.

He looked up, politely thanking the waitress as she delivered the pot of tea and plate of cookies. The smells of peppermint mingled with chocolate; the fae smiled. They looked delicious, but not as delicious as his sustenance of choice. Which was quite bountiful here; he was already quite full.

A date, just the two of them? Of course Risa had practically jumped at the chance; they hadn't gone on one since the twins had been born, after all. She was carrying a heart shaped box of sugar free chocolate--she'd learned her lesson--sugar plus Matth equals trouble.

She entered the cafe with a smile, thankful that Thali had agreed to babysit however reluctantly. Once she had said it was a date, the elf had been all for it. She smiled when she spotted Matth. She sat across from him. "Hey Matth," she greeted casually. "Nice place," she added, looking around.

Matthias nodded, smiling lightly. "Thank you. I found this place when I first came to Gaia." he replied before motioning to the tea and warm cookies. "Please, feel free to help yourself. I took the liberty of ordering for you so it'd be ready when you arrived." It seemed like it had been ages since they'd done this, instead of just a few months.

"Oh, thank you," Risa said with a smile, helping herself to a cookie. She offered him the box of chocolates. "This is for you," she said. "Sugar-free, though. Don't worry." She didn't want him to run off on her, after all. She wanted a nice, romantic date. "Do you want one? I suppose you've already eaten," she added with a grin.

She took a bite of the cookie. "These are really good!" she said with some surprise.

Matthias took the box, smiling. "Thank you." he said, nodding once. "I don't want one at the moment, but I'll be sure to enjoy them later." He then chuckled. "Of course they're good. I would not have ordered them for you if they were not." He poured himself a cup of tea from the pot, taking a sip.

"This is rather nice. Just the two of us here." he commented, glancing out the window.

Risa gave Matth a smile. "Of course not," she agreed. She didn't believe Matthias was capable of ordering something that wasn't good, but she wouldn't tell him that. She took another bite of her cookie before glancing around. "I agree," she said. "It is rather nice to be alone once in a while. We should do this more often."

Matthias nodded. "We should." he said, turning his head to look back at Risa. He smiled at her, pulling the bouquet of roses from the seat beside him. "Here, for you. Though they are not anywhere near a match for your beauty, I hope you will enjoy them." One rose in the center seemed heavier than the others, drooping towards Risa. And....hey, what was that glittering within the center?

Risa carefully took the roses from Matthias, smiling and blushing. "Thank you," she said. That was before she noticed the sparkle in the center of one of the roses. She stared at it for a moment. "What's this?" Was it what she thought it was? She hoped so. She looked to Matthias, blinking.

Matthias smiled, reaching across the table to gently take Risa's hand in his, his other hand plucking the ring from the rosebud. He held the little band of gold and garnet out to her gingerly, looking at her. "Risa....will you be my betrothed?" he asked, his tone soft and border-line sweet. He completely ignored the teenager at the counter who was watching them; his thoughts and attention were all Risa's at the moment.

Matthias was behaving strangely, Risa had decided, but she rather liked it. She had never seen this side of him before. She rewarded him with her brightest smile yet. "I've been waiting for you to ask," she said. "Did you think I'd say no? Of course I will." She paused, and studied the ring. "But if you think I'm going to put it on myself, you've got another thing coming."

Matthias smiled, gently putting the ring on her finger. "I hold you in my heart with the highest regards and affections." she said, smiling before planting a kiss on her hand, lighter than a feather in the breeze. He looked back up at her, flashing his best smile. Wow, that hadn't been as hard as he'd imagined it to be.

Risa had decided she rather liked this side of Matth; though she also wondered how much he'd been drinking before this. "As I do you," she said, returning his smile. She glanced at the ring on her finger for a moment. She'd been waiting for this for months, and she didn't know what to say when it'd finally come.[

Matthias smiled, releasing her hand gently as he folded his hands politely on the table. "After tea, would you like to accompany me to a moving picture at the local theatre?" he offered, as cordial as ever. "Your choice of movie?" Of course he couldn't pick; he rarely watched television enough to know of any new films coming out.

Risa thought about his question, before a smile crossed her features. "We could always see Startrek," she said with a wink. "I don't know of any especially good ones out right now. Maybe Avatar? Zee said it was good--but I don't know..." she didn't like violent movies. Oh well, she was sure Matthias would like it.

"No skittles though," she told him. "I'll get you a soda instead."

Matthias smiled. "I would not mind watching Star Trek. It was EVER so much fun last time." He almost purred out, chuckling at the end of his sentence. Though, how much Star Trek they'd actually watched was another matter entirely.

"Alright. I will purchase myself a chocolate bar then." he teased, smirking.

"Would you like a repeat of last time?" Risa asked with a wink. "I'm sure it could be arranged." If it was a repeat of the last time they'd watched Star Trek, Risa was sure they wouldn't be watching much of it.

"Nah. Let's go to my house. You can eat your Valentines present," she said, taking his hand. "I have something sweeter at home, if you really want the sugar."

Matthias smirked, steepling his hands together much like Mr. Burns. "Why, that would be delightful." he said, smiling at her. Oh, missing most of the episode wouldn't bother him; he already knew the series by heart.

Matthias smiled, giving her hand a squeeze. "I do not really need the sugar. It would probably be best if I did not ingest any" he said, chuckling. He then stood, smiling. "Shall we?" he asked, bowing politely, ever the gentleman.

Risa smiled and gave him a nod. ~implied walking home, lalala~ Risa unlocked her front door and led Matthias inside. "Go sit down, I'll start the movie," she said. She walked to the tv and turned it on, as well as the dvd player. "What episode would you like?"

Matthias sat down on the couch, shrugging. "It does not matter. You may pick." He'd already seen most of the episodes, so it didn't really matter to him. "Perhaps start with the first and play them all?" he suggested as an afterthought, tapping his chin with one long slender finger as he thought about it.

Risa paused, thinking about Matth's question. "But that would take days," she observed, seeing as there were at least forty episodes in the first two seasons and each were over thirty minutes long. "I suppose we could," she put in the first season dvd. "You best keep me entertained, though, I may get bored by the tenth episode."

The dark haired fae smirked. "Oh, I am quite confident that I can keep you more than entertained, my fair lady." he said, chuckling. "And that is fine....we have all the time in the world, no?"

Risa took on a doubtful expression, before smiling. "I don't know, Matth," she teased. "Several hours of one thing might take the enjoyment out of it." She pressed play on the dvd player. "I suppose I could have Thali keep the children until morning."

Matthias smiled, shaking his head. "No, true fun never grows old." he argued, all too amused. He nodded; he was sure Stasia could handle the kids over night. If not, the worse that could happen is that she ended up tied to something, which in his opinion, would be HILARIOUS. He smiled at Risa, motioning over to the couch.

Unfinished rp between Marina and I; here for recording purposes.

Quote:
Risa had decided the easiest way to get Loki out of her hair for a day was by setting up a date for Matthias to spend with his sons. Easter seemed like the perfect excuse. She had made washable egg dye and put it into cups. After placing a vinyl tablecloth on the table, she set out the stuff.

Loki was watching her with vague curiousity. "Whatcha doing?" he asked. His tantrum a few days ago seemed all but forgotten; at least, it was, in his point of view. He watched her as she put two cartons of eggs on the table. "What're we doing with eggs?"

"Your father and Milo are coming over," Risa told him, with a forced sort of smile. She still hadn't forgiven him completely. Well, Matthias would be coming, when she called him, anyway. She took the phone and dialed his number.

It rang a few times before the exasperated fae answered. "Hello?" he asked, seeming out of breath. Behind him, yelling and crashing could be heard. Apparently, Milo was far from a happy camper. "Risa? How are you?" Matthias asked, trying to drown out the background noice. Oh, he was SO going to beat that child if he didn't stop! Okay, so he probably wouldn't, but still. Aife started crying in the background, which meant Milo had stolen her blocks. Again. Ugh.

Risa grinned. It sounded like Milo was as much trouble for Matthias as Loki was for her. "I'm alright--I don't think I need to ask how you are," she teased. No; she could tell from the background noise. Matth must have been frusterated. "I was thinking," she started, "That you, Milo, and Aife might want to come over to paint some Easter eggs? You'd be able to spend time with Loki," she added. "I can take care of Milo if you like. I have a surprise for him, anyway." She had gone out and bought him the box of grow your own sea monkeys he had asked for a while back. Hopefully that would keep him happy.

"I suppose I could." Matthias said after a moment of thought. "Koloro is napping, so he should be occupied. I am sure Aife and Milo will enjoy coloring eggs. Though, with his behaviour, I don't think a surprise is what Milo needs. A few hits with a switch, maybe." His tone was half joking, but at the same time....you could tell he'd contemplated it. "When would you like us over?" he asked, wincing as the sound of broken glass echoed in the background.

"I'm sure Milo's behavior will turn right around when you arrive," Risa said with a knowing smile. She had finally figured it out. Loki favored Matthias; Milo--well, she wasn't sure if he favored her, or just knew he could have his way with her. "You can come over any time, though. We're ready for you now."

Matthias nodded. "We'll be over soon. I need to clean up a few things, and then we'll head out." he said. "See you soon." About half an hour later, Matthias was leading two crying toddlers and a sniffling baby up to Risa's doorstep. Aife had bandaids on her arm, and Milo was walking with a bit of a limp. Koloro was frightened by the loud wails of his siblings, and Matthias was at ropes end. Today had NOT been a good day. Hopefully, coloring eggs would make it a bit better.

Miles, as usual, was the first to the door. "Hi Dad," he greeted Matthias with a smile. "I knew you were coming." He paused when he saw Aife and Milo, his smile fading. "Milo, what did you do this time?" he asked. "Come on in. Loki's waiting for you at the table. Cheer up, Aife! I have something for you inside." He hoped his sister liked chocolate bunnies.

"Mom wants to talk to you for a minute while I get them started on the eggs," he added, looking up at Matth.

Matth nodded. "Hello, Miles." he greeted, bowing his head once. "And of course you did." He knew all too well of Miles special little ability.

Aife attached herself to Miles leg, sniffled as she buried her face in his pantleg. "Scary!" she whimpered, clinging to him. "Hurts...." Yeah, that about summed up her opinion of Milo, who'd bitten her earlier.

Milo just shrugged, heading for the kitchen. Wasn't his fault that the ninny wouldn't share. Psh. Stupid girl child. Matthias nodded before heading off to talk with Risa, trusting Miles with the little ones.

Miles sighed, picking Aife up. "I know," he muttered. "Milo's not very good for Dad, is he? Come on, then. I bet you can make prettier eggs than he can."

He took her to the kitchen table, sitting her next to Loki. Loki's fingers were dyed green and blue. He smiled brightly when he saw Aife. "Hi Aife!" he said. "We coloring eggs with Daddy today!"

Risa paused, holding the box of sea monkeys she planned on giving Milo later. "Nice to see you, Matth," she said. "Milo been giving you a hard time?" Of course, she was teasing him. "He never gives me any trouble--but I'm sure Loki's the same way with you. So I got to thinking. Maybe Loki could spend a few days at your place? Milo's welcome to stay here for a while."

Aife just nodded, sniffling a bit as she was carried in to the kitchen. "He mean. Bites." she said, holding up her arm. "Yells at Koloro, too. Don't like him. I-" Aife fell silent as she noticed the glare she was getting from the black-haired toddler.

She risked a small wave to Loki before looking back down to her hands nervously. Milo sat on the other side of Loki, smiling. "Hey, Loki." he greeted, with an oh-so-innocent smile.

Matthias nodded, sighing. "He broke a window and bit Aife today." he said, sighing. "He also pinched Koloro. Honestly, I don't know what to do with that boy." He paused, listening. "I am quite alright with that. In fact, I'd prefer that before I have to spank the boy again."

Miles nodded in agreement. Honestly, he didn't like Milo all that much either. But then, he didn't like Loki any better.

Loki gave Aife another smile, before looking to his twin. 'Hi Milo!" He greeted, hoping Milo would be nice today. "Going to paint eggs with us?"

Risa shook her head at Matth. "You wouldn't believe what Loki did a few days ago, even if I told you. He sent a large number of spiders into my bedroom--so I told him he wouldn't be able to see his friends for a week. I tried cheering him up with some movies, but... Well. He attacked me." She looked sheepish. She felt guilty for lying to him; she knew she'd egged Loki on.

Milo nodded, grinning mischieviously. Oh, he planned to paint alright.....just not the eggs. The toddler eyed Miles and Aife a moment before chucking a bowl full of green dye at them, laughing in amusement.

Matthias frowned slightly. "That's not the whole truth." he said, his tone calm. He could easily tell when his mate was lying; her speech and body language was all wrong. "What really happened? Loki doesn't attack for no reason."

Miles blocked the bowl from hitting Aife--and so being hit with it himself. He frowned slightly, he hadn't expected this to happen, despite his ability. "Milo..." He said, glaring at the toddler. "Mom's got something for you, if you're good. But now you won't get it. Too bad, poor Milo. No sea monkeys for him."

Risa frowned. "I'm not ly--" she started, before looking at Mattias and forcing a smile. "I suppose I encouraged him a bit," she muttered. "I made him angry on purpose."

Milo smiled, giggling at his dye-covered brother. "Funny." was the only response he offered. Silly Miles, thinking he could fool Milo into behaving. He looked to his twin. "Wanna help dye siblings? Much more fun than stupid old eggs." he said, chuckling. Aife was hiding behind Miles, sniffling once more.

Matthias frowned. "Why would you do that?" he asked, confused. "As an adult, you should be above such....childishness." He couldn't fathom it; he wasn't mad. Just confused.

Loki looked doubtful. "Nah," he said. He'd been in enough trouble lately as it was. "We paint eggs, kay? Then we throw them at siblings." That way, Milo didn't think he was a wimp, and he was still being good.

Risa sighed. "I know, it was childish of me. I was angry. I didn't know that would happen, you realize." She frowned at him. "I didn't know he had your temper."

Milo shrugged before unceremoniously plunking an egg in the bowl. Whatever. This was SO so lame. Lame lame lame lame LAME! He'd have to toy with Aife later to make up for this moment of lameness. Maybe Koloro, too. The little deer brat always had such a lovely scream.

Matth shook his head, sighing. "You should have known there was a chance, Risa." he said, pausing before hugging her. "I am glad you are unharmed. Be more careful next time, alright?" He didn't want his Risa hurt, especially if it could be prevented

Loki smiled, putting an egg into the blue dye. He would make the best eggs ever! Maybe he would make one for Daddy. He wondered if they had any black egg dye; wasn't black Daddy's favorite color? "It be fun, Milo. Be good. Mommy got present for you. She say you gonna spend the night!"

Risa hugged him, smiling slightly. "Alright, I'll be careful. I know better than to make him watch Carebears or anything like that. He really didn't seem to like it. I wonder why... He became quite frightening really; it's one of the reasons I'd like him to spend more time with you."

Milo smiled. "Spend the night? Fun~" That meant he'd have 24 hours to torture his big brother! Schweet! The toddler chuckled evilly as he dumped more eggs into the bowls, plotting his dastardly deeds to be.

Matthias nodded, smiling lightly. "I will teach him to keep control of his anger to prevent further incidents so you needn't worry." he said, trying to reassure her.

Miles groaned. It was almost as if he could already see the havoc the night would bring; and knowing him, he probably could. "Mom says if you're good, she'll help you make a worm farm," he told the toddler with a forced smile. "They talk to you, right?"

"That'd be nice," Risa said with a smile. "I will avoid making him angry, all the same. I'd really rather not end up being the hunted again. Now--you're supposed to be spending time with the children!" she added quickly. "Go on. Go paint eggs. There's no black--but there's dark enough colors for you."

Milo thought a moment, tapping his chin. "Alright." he said, shrugging before pulling an egg out. That was easy.....almost too easy. What could the diabolical toddler be plotting? "Yeah, they talk to me. Nicer than people. Less stupid, too." he said, shrugging.

Matthias nodded, kissing her cheek before heading back out into the kitchen, pulling a crayon out of his pocket. Time for some fancy egg dying! He sat down at the table, smiling at the children.

"You're stupid," Loki told his twin helpfully. He didn't like worms. He took his egg out of the dye and put it into the carton. "Worms aren't very nice," he added, looking to Miles. "Spiders better." He paused when he spotted Matth. "Daddy! Come to make eggs with us?"

Milo frowned, sticking his tongue out at his brother. "Worms are much better. People don't squish worms with newspapers like they do spiders." he muttered, flicking some dye at his brother.

Matthias nodded, smiling as he picked up an egg. "Why yes, I have." he said, smiling as he began drawing on his egg in crayon. ."Are you all having fun?"

Loki frowned. "Howl says he's gonna curse everyone who hurts spiders!" he inforned his brother. "Howl don't like worms. They gross." The toddler obviously hung onto every word a certain cousin of theirs said. "Worms don't get rid of flies and icky bugs! Spiders do."

Miles gave Matthias a smile, despite the green dye that had stained his shirt. "We're having fun," he said. "Messy fun, but fun."

Milo crossed his arms. "Both you stupid." he declaried, sniffing at his brother. "Worms are VERY important. More than stupid spiders. Worms are cuddly, not gross." Honestly, he couldn't BELIEVE how stupid his twin was. Honestly.

Matthias smiled, nodding once. "So, what happened?" he asked, motioning to the dye as he dunked an egg in the red dye. "Let me guess.....Milo?" he guessed, going on his knowledge of his children.

"Worms are important," Loki agreed, trying to please his brother. "But not as good as spiders are." Spiders were the greatest ever! Howl had told him so. And Howl knew everything. Right?

"How'd you guess?" Miles asked with a grin. "Yeah, he threw it at me. Before we told him he's spending the night. He put an egg into the yellow dye, smiling at his father. "I'm really hoping they don't fight."

Milo rolled his eyes, huffing. Worms were SO much better than stupid old spiders and stupid old wizards. He crossed his arms childishly, shoving the dish of dye away from him, sending the colored liquid sloshing onto the table. Hmph. Stupid dye. Stupid eggs. Stupid day!

Matthias shook his head, sighing. "I hope that as well, young one." he said, pausing before frowning at Milo. "Perhaps we should move the dye away from him...."

Miles took the bowl of dye and placed it near Aife. "Here, you make an Easter egg, he said with a smile. "I bet you can make really pretty ones." He put an egg into the green dye. Maybe he could make one for Zemel. He was sure his friend would like one.

Loki had moved from his spot next to Milo and Aife, and was making his way towards Matthias. "I'm gonna spend the night at your house!" He told his father with a smile. He was obviously quite pleased with himself for managing this feat. "Can I bring spiders? As long as Creeper don't come, it good. I don't like Creeper."

"I've told you, happily ever afters don't happen," said an irritated looking Miles. "Never. They never do. I can't predict one, because you aren't going to get one. There's so much more to your life what a fairytale would make you believe." Honestly, why did Howl insist on believing in fairytale endings? Wasn't he too old for this sort of thing? True, he had come from a book where fairy tales wouldn't have been out of place--but the oracle had never expected him to ask when his next happily ever after would be.

"And I've told you that I've already had one," Howl retorted. The wizard couldn't see why his useless oracle of a cousin refused to see facts. "You said our past determines our future. Certainly, if I had one before, I'll have one again." The wizard's tone was smug, but Miles thought he saw something in those blue, glassy eyes. Belief. Absolute belief. His younger cousin really thought he would be having a happily ever after.

All at once, Miles seemed to regain his patience. "Did you really, Howl? Have a happily ever after? You've said that your happily ever after was stolen from you. Meaning that technically, you didn't have one." After all, happily ever afters weren't supposed to end, were they?

Howl opened his mouth to retort, but clearly thought better of it. He glared at his older cousin with marble-like eyes. "I had one," he insisted finally. "I had one, and it was stolen from me."

"No," said Miles, and when he saw his younger cousin open his mouth to argue, continued, "you had everything that a happily ever after might include; a wife, a son, a mansion, not to mention various assets to your moving castle," he added, noticing that Howl seemed prepared to list what he had missed. "Happily ever after implies that it cannot be taken from you--and even before it was, you had difficulties keeping it. Remember the Djinn?" Miles could see that he had puzzled his cousin; and in all reality, he couldn't blame Howl. It must have been hard for him, coming to the realization that happily ever afters didn't exist.

"Happily ever after never implies that there won't be difficulties," Howl pointed out at last. "It promises happiness, and we had that."

Miles paused. Now that he couldn't argue with. "I suppose happiness could be stolen..." He hesitated. "Still; if that is what you believe happily ever after to be, you will soon have it returned to you." Finally, he could do what he did best; prophecy. Yes, his cousin would soon be happy. He was sure of it. "But," he added with a smile, "to be happy, you must first get your heart back."

"How do I do that?" Howl asked. "Get my heart back, I mean."

"It's more fun not to tell you. Besides; if I don't tell you, will you still do what the future holds for you? Or will you do something different? If I told you that you were going to make Devin cry, would you?"

Howl thought about it. "Never," he said. "You know what Devin means to me."

"There, you see? You're already fighting fate. I hope you continue to do so. It makes things... Interesting."

"I don't know what's wrong. I can't see his fate. Zemel's, I mean Whenever I try, I get the same feeling I used to get when I tried seeing my own. Maybe I'm losing my powers--or maybe..." The oracle was trying to explain his troubles to the only person who'd listen to him without giving him bad advice or tantalizing hints; his aunt. His Aunt Thali wasn't the best when it came to advice, more was she very good at hinting; she excelled in romance, mythology, and listening to stories. "Maybe I'm not supposed to see it." It was clear he wasn't happy with that response; it had been the one his mother had given him only an hour before.

Thali thought about it. She knew that oracles, especially the ones in Greek mythology tended to be vague, female, and well... They weren't Miles. "Have you ever thought that you like him?" she asked, thoughtfully. It made sense; if Miles was unable to see Zemel's fate in the same way that he was unable to see his own, she figured that they would share the same fate. Usually the elf would have been against such relationships; this time she felt it fit. As she had expected, Miles blushed.

"Yes, but I didn't think it would mean..." he paused, and stared with wide, blue eyes. He opened his mouth to ask another question. Thali put a finger to his mouth with a smile.

"Shhh. Didn't you tell me that you thought it was better if someone didn't know what their future holds? Don't try to tell your future; it ruins the surprise. If you like Zemel, I suggest you tell him how you feel sometime. You don't want him to fight fate on accident, if you two are supposed to end up together."

"But Aunt Thali," Miles started. "We can share the same fate, and not be together, I mean... We could die at the same time or something. Or we could be working on the same project--or we could have the same job..." Again, Miles found a finger on his lips, making them tingle.

"Is that what you think will happen?" Thali asked. "Do you really think your fate is so simple? You like him, don't you?" When she recieved a nod, she smiled. "Well, then. Don't you think your fate's been effected by this? Or maybe it's the reason you like him at all. Fate isn't cruel, Miles. You should know this by now. Look at your mother and father--they're complete opposites. No one would have ever expected them to get together. They're both happy--and you and Zemel will be too."
