(This open RP is mainly for children, but other ages are free to join as well. Also feel free to say any of your kids helped make the haunted house, as it was something that was meant to be done more as a big group than one or two kids )

Sophia was still trying to figure out how it had happened, really. How Rye managed to do anything was usually beyond her and yet constantly she was showing up with new connections and opportunities than before. It was baffling because she still couldn’t figure out what Rye was supposed to be. Most children could say their mommy was a teacher or a doctor or even a pirate. Sophie didn’t know what Rye was, if she was anything at all. She did a lot of dancing and singing and serving and…just so many things it felt like when she and Eden played dress up. And again, looking around the dark rooms, she was torn between amazement and exasperation.

Rye had somehow managed to get them the use of an empty “for rent” floor in one of the department store buildings. She claimed that it was something a friend of hers had thought would be “great fun” for the children to decorate as a haunted house and run around in. In all honesty Sophie wasn’t all too into the scary aspect of Halloween…but she had gone along with it. After all, Sean had been excited and that didn’t happen too often. It figured that he would be with something related to gross stuff.

She carried the bowl she was holding over to the nearest table. It was slow going not only because it was dark in here, but because he dress was really long. Sean had insisted she be dressed as a drowned girl, because she was so pale already. She was just glad there weren’t any mirrors around…the weeds and rips in her dress gave her the creeps. She really wished she could have been a princess or something. Oh well. She finally set it down and felt relieved that it hadn’t spilled. The last thing she needed was to clean up punch all over the floor.

Sean wagged his tail, grinning at the sight of his sister. She looked so perfect, just like a ghost! It was wonderfully scary. He had decided to be a wolf man, easy enough, and scarier than last year. Plastic fangs showed in his grin and he crept closer and closer until he was just inches behind her, breathing down her neck. Then he went, “Boo!” and delighted in the shriek she emitted and the fright she displayed.

“You scared me half to death,” Sophie breathed, shaking a little, but recovering.

“Wasn’t it great?” Sean laughed. He had been growing lately, so now he was about as tall as she was. He took great pride in it to. He took a bag he had been carrying, moving over to the punch bowl he dumped its contents into the liquid. They popped up looking like eyeballs staring right back.

Sophie pulled away a little, “Ugh, Sean…now no one will drink it. It tastes really good too.”

“Oh they’re just grapes, ease up,” Sean shook his head, amused.

He had absolutely refused to dress up as anything nasty or disgusting. The prospect of dressing up for halloween appealed to Darsh, though. Mostly because he could wear something fancy without anyone laughing at him. He hated being laughed at. Wrapped toga-style in a white sheet, Darsh sported a crown of greenery about his head and a pair of winged tennis shoes that Emma had fashioned for him.

There was supposed to be a party here. Darsh peered at the outside of the haunted house and then finally pushed open the door and walked inside with his usual careless confidence. "Hello?" The blue boy called out, peering around. It looked dark and scary. At least he was beautiful.

Tezza was some sort of not quite eye raping cross between a hippie and gypsy. Just for tonight though, she was going to wear a better costume for the CDL party and events later but tonight she'd wanted something fun and silly. The purple haired girl had said hair out of it's normal braids and instead down and wavy, held off her face by a multi-coloured silk scarf. Tonight was a night for being different and having fun and she totally didn't have to be scary haunted house or not.

Not that she that the building floor she'd helped decorated counted as an actual haunted house per say but it did have that feel to it. In fact Tezza bet more than one person would go 'eww' upon running into some very realistic feeling fake spiderwebs.

The girl's head turned upon the entrance of a very pretty looking boy with blue skin" she raised a gloved hand and waved at him in response. Even in the semi dark she should be visible.

Miles had somehow convinced his older cousin to come to the haunted house. "Come on, we might see Zemel and Ginger!" And with that promise in mind, Josh had been willing to go.

"I don't see why you don't like haunted houses. You're the one who's supposed to be all brave and stuff," Miles muttered from the corner of his mouth. Being an oracle, he knew why. But being polite, he often pretended like he didn't. It was rude in everyday conversation for one to sound like they knew everything--even if they did.

"I just don't like the idea of going to a place where I know I'll be scared," Joshua argued, fingering the sword Bishop hand given him last Christmas. It went well with his costume this year. No surprise, the nutcracker boy was dressed up as a prince. Crown, cape and all. Tights were the exception, the only thing missing from the ensemble. He'd swapped those for a pair of jeans and a pair of converse.

"What are you supposed to be, anyway Miles?" Josh asked, looking to his cousin. The red head grinned at him, and shook his head. As if Josh was asking one of those questions that everyone else knew the answer to; and though teachers tried assuring you that there were no such thing as stupid questions, you knew it was one anyway.

Miles was in a white toga and golden lace up sandels. His hair had been slightly waved for added effect, and a golden circlet sat neatly on top. He was carrying a lyre for an accessory. "I'm Apollo, of course. Creator of the Oracle, god of the sun. god of poetry, god of medicine, brother of Artemis--"

"Okay, I get it. You're Apollo. Let's go already."

'"Boo!"

Someone slammed their hands down on Darsh's shoulders, and a moment later the laughter gave it away. It was Fish, dressed in a toga and carrying a trident that looked like it wasn't much more than a store-bought pitchfork wrapped in duct tape. He stepped around his blue friend and gave him an up-and-down look of approval.

"Hey, we match!" he said brightly. "I'm Poseidon! Ruler of the seven seas!"

(It was the easiest costume to scrape together in fifteen minutes for fifteen dollars or less.)

Then he spotted Miles, and saw that he matched, as well. His face fell and he greeted his other friend with significantly less enthusiasm.

"Hey," he said, sounding a bit dejected, "We match. Greek gods must be a popular theme this year, huh?"

This was worse than showing up somewhere in the same dress, because if it was variations on a theme then people would all think you'd done it on purpose.

"I told you no one was going to dress scary," Sophie murmured woefully to her little brother. She looked pretty, sure, but that didn't make up for the fact that she looked dead. There wasn't much that could change that fact.

Sean ignored her, or rather rolled his eyes and raced forward to one of the arriving groups of kids. He growled at Miles and Joshua, the fur on his tail rising a little. "Grrr, welcome to the haunted house!" His fierce greeting soon turned into laughter. He was having way too much fun with this. And he had no sympathy for his sister. That's what she got for dragging him to boring, girly events. She was just going to have to tough it out.

Feeling a need to make up for Sean's rediculous attitude Sophia hurried forward, giving the two boys apologetic looks, "Sorry. Please don't mind him. Um...yes, welcome to the haunted house. Please try to the food, it looks scary but I swear it tastes fine." She felt a little self concious. After all, she had made everything, but...Sean had just had to go and make everything look dreadful. She didn't want anyone to think it wasn't edible.

Darsh waved back at Tezza, smiling confidently. He looked around, taking in the creepy decorations - Max and Emma had told him all about Halloween and it had sounded like fun. Except that he was pretty sure the ghost in the pond behind their house had something to do with halloween and he wasn't sure what he thought about her.

Then he saw Miles, and his blue skin turned dusky purple as anger rose. Someone had copied him! He was about ready to go over and tell the boy just what he thought about that, when: "Boo!"

The blue boy jumped and them laughed with relief when he saw it was Fish. His laughter cut off when he saw there was yet another person wearing a toga. He'd thought his costume was so creative, but apparently not. "Yeah, we do match." He responded in a slightly sulky tone. "I thought I'd be the only one in a toga." At the sound of Fish's dejection, though, Darsh perked back up. "Hey," he whispered to his friend. "Maybe we can find something to glamour up our costumes a bit. They have to have something around here." If he couldn't be the only one in a toga, he could at least have the best toga. (Though he was already confident that his was better than Fish's and Miles'.)

Joshua jumped when Sean raced over, and a look of relief crossed his features when the boy started to laugh. "Nice costume," he complimented. "Very scary." Why had he allowed Miles to drag him here? His cousin was snickering at him. Hastily, Joshua tried to regain his composure.

"It's alright, you're supposed to get scared at haunted houses," Miles said with a nod towards Sophia. "It's more fun when food looks scary. I hope you have jellied eyeballs." Miles wasn't exactly pleased to note that his costume wasn't unique. "At least we're all different gods?" He looked over to Darsh, and nodded in approval. "Hermes, right? The god of messengers, thieves, pranksters and liars. Cool. It fits you. You're just missing the staff. Hermes' symbolic animal is the snake." Sadly, this wasn't meant as an insult, Miles was genuinely trying to be helpful. He paused, and looked back at Fish.

"You could look the part of Poseidon with out the toga, you know," he commented, with a smile. It was obvious this statement had been meant as a compliment, though he never seemed to have the right air for it. "I mean, you're cool enough to be him without even dressing up."

"Yeah," said Fish, who could recognize a complement where he saw one, "But if I didn't have a toga, people would just think I was being myself for Halloween."

From the look on his face, it was clear he thought this to be A Fate Worse Than Death. "We're all different gods, though," he said to Darsh, as a kind of consolation, "And you have the best sandals."

He seriously meant it. They had wings! That was awesome. He looked anxiously towards the haunted house decorations and smiled for his friends. "Let's go check it out," he said. Enough about matching costumes, they were here to get scared silly!

"Of course. Made my sister dress scary too. If I hadn't, she probably would have been a princess to match you, knowing her," Sean told Joshua off handedly. He was quite proud of that accomplishment. Getting his way was not typical, especially when it came to his older sister. She usually had the last word...usually because he was too lazy to exurt energy to arugue.

"I'm glad someone gets it," he said approvingly to Miles, "I don't think I'd want to eat a real eyeball, but pretending is so cool. That's what Halloween's about!"

"I think you all look really good," Sophia told the boys and the one other girl there. She smiled genuinly, glad that she could talk to them without having to look at scary costumes...she wouldn't have been extremely frightened or anything, but it would have been more uncomfortable. It was so great that everyone had dressed up so well...Halloween just wouldn't have been complete without being able to wear and see costumes of such variety. Even if three of the boys had dressed from the same theme.

The blue boy scowled, crossing his arms and looking sulky. Not only did he not realize that Miles meant only to be helpful, he took it as a personal insult. Very personal.

Albeit reluctantly, Darsh followed the other boys towards the haunted part of the haunted house. He had been disdainful of the thought of being frightened. There was a real ghost in his backyard, a bunch of fake cobwebs and some red-dyed corn syrup wasn't going to frighten him. He took heart in the thought and finally managed to crack something akin to a smile. "Yeah, sure. Lets check it out."

Tezza had been forced to stifle a giggle as even more toga clad boys had joined the growing group. Why that theme was so popular this year she didn't know, had some sort of greek themed movie come out lately and she didn't know about it? Either way it was pretty amusing and the purple haired child might out and out laugh if even girls started showing up in togas.

For the moment though the bound winged girl just watched the boys not wanting to interrupt their conversations and letting them admire the hard work the haunted house had been.

"Yes, I suppose being yourself for Halloween would be rather lame," Miles agreed. He paused, and turned to his cousin. "Do you think you'll be alright if I hang around with these guys for a while?" He asked, in that familar 'You-better-not-tag-along-with-us-because-that'd-be-so-lame' tone of voice. It was as if Miles was the older cousin, when it was really the other way around.

Joshua waved him off dismissively. "Sure. I'll wait for some of my friends here," he said, looking back to Sean. "There's nothing wrong with being a princess," he said with a shake of his head. "But I've already got one. I don't know if she's coming, or not." He didn't dare say her name, in case someone knew who he was talking about. If one person knew, the entire school would know.
