She was happy to hear Ducky would gladly answer more of her questions. She had her mind set on what to ask, how to ask it... but then, they reached the ballroom. Wei, aside from her time in Goldenrod had never been someplace so crowded in her life. She took in a deep breath as they entered, taking in the sights, the smells... the atmosphere. Her hand rushed to her shoulder when a blonde quickly ran past her. Her mind suddenly went blank.. she couldn't connect a coherent thought at all. Her eyes widened and she felt kind of... light, her stomach doing flip-flops. This was worse than Goldenrod, because here everyone was touching shoulders and bumping into one another... the noise was more direct and... well, it was... scary.
She then felt a jolt as Ducky pulled her through the crowd until they reached a young male, beside him a fetching pink-haired woman. She looked kind of like a Nurse Joy... Wei's mind was far to flustered to even keep on that image. She did manage a bow at least, looking up at 'Vinny'. He held a very strong presence. Eyes dark, mysterious... smoldering, while his skin looked naturally tanned. Wei couldn't take her eyes off of him until someone from behind pumped into her, making her catch herself before she fell forward. At least her mind was back to the here and now. "It's a p-" She was caught off when Ducky noticed the pinkette.
Lucina's warning wasn't entirely a enough. As the twins entered into the ballroom they pushed themselves closer together, meaning to bring themselves side-to-side, but with Lucina in the middle they simply found themselves pushing into either side of her. Wei's emotions along with their own made them both light headed a bit. They weren't used to this many people either... their old trainer had kept away from crowded places as best he could... and they could tell Wei had some of the same reasons to stay away from a large amount of people. It was scary. Regardless, Lucina appeared to of found someone she knew, another Gardevoir that looked.. 'Woah, You're a twin too!?' Fen exclaimed. 'You're pretty too...' Lan se muttered as well. Lan se looked up to Lucina, catching the gardevoir's gaze, she looked upset. Lan se glanced over to the one she was looking at, noticing Wei and Ducky were speaking to him and another human. Is he a bad man? He was kind of scary looking.

Leo made a face, not too keen on the light his sister was painting him in. "I doubt knowing him would have helped," he defended, and much harsher than he might've intended. "Lance could have easily won just as Vince did. I can't predict the future, and neither could anyone who participated. Statistically, Lance had the better chance of winning! He knew more about contests than Vince, and had more experience than him. It wasn't cheating, it wasn't 'rigged'. It was just a betting pool." Irritated now, Leo pulled his arm from out of Lia's and stuffed both his hands into his pockets, a deep frown engraved within his features.

"Mmmm~" Olivia hummed, crossed her arms behind her back, and set Vince with a cheeky grin. "Mmmaybe~" she eventually sang. There was no need to tell Vince that, out of the two times she'd actually played matchmaker for her friends, they'd ended terribly, and it was why she'd hung up her wings and heart-shaped arrows long ago; she apparently didn't have an eye for couples. She snorted at his suggestion, and tried her best to convey an expression of shock, and perhaps even hurt, but failed when a smile was the only thing she found she could show. "I only cling as a last ditch effort, to get stubborn people to go to sleep," she defended. She could've groaned, remembering how ridiculous she'd been acting back then with Vince, but rather than reflect she pushed forward while simultaneously shoving the memory back, and focused in on Vince.
"Oh? Beachgoers?" Olivia repeated Vince's words, while biting back a smile, before she nodded her head, convinced. "I suppose that checks out. But, I might just have to do a follow-up on that information of yours," she teased. As much as she enjoyed putting him in the hot seat--because she was just a good friend like that--nowadays, Olivia was just content with the original reaction she received from Vince, and often didn't bother putting on the pressure. Which, was fortunate for him. It helped that the, quickly formulated, plan of attending a ball distracted her further. "I'll hold you to it," she whispered back and reached out to squeeze his hand, only to stop and settle for nudging him playfully. "But, don't put too much pressure on yourself. I'm sure we'll have fun," she added, in a much louder voice.
The pinkette waved to her friend, and inwardly wished him a bit of luck knowing how well he dealt with crowds, and waited until he'd been transported before she made her own, temporary, leave, her destination the clothing shop.

Though she realized she'd taken a bit too long to find a dress, even after arriving at the ball Olivia found she couldn't immediately join Vince, and that was because she had to spend several, long seconds leaning against the nearest wall until the nausea went down; teleporting... it had quite unconsidered drawbacks to it. Once the room stopped spinning, and she was no longer in danger of ruining her dress in any sort of way, Olivia took a deep breath, gathered herself, and proceeded to walk into the ballroom, where she was met by the sight of, at the very least, a hundred or so well-dressed individuals, some mingling, others dancing, and a few enjoying the appetizers and flutes of champagne being offered by... suited Beartic; in other words, it was quite the sight. But, even with the mass of people, she felt a bit better after seeing them, and no longer felt as silly as she did in her dress; at one point, she'd been afraid that she'd chosen an outfit too dressy for the ball.
Careful not to get too caught up in the groups and the scenery, Olivia narrowed her focus down onto individuals as she tried to locate Vince. She hoped that he was in the room somewhere, and she wouldn't have to search the entire castle for him, because heels had never been her friend, and now was not an exception. She reached down into her (ridiculously small) clutch to pull out her communicator, prepared to save herself some time and simply text Vince, when a familiar shade of navy blue caught her eye, and she lifted her head to look in that direction. The corners of her mouth lifted upwards into a smile when she spotted Luna, and beside her Vince, and she emitted a soft exhale before approaching the two.
Olivia was met halfway by the latter, with champagne, and she laughed at his joke. "I mean, there were a few times, when I was struggling to find a dress, that I considered calling it quits and just going back to our room," she half-joked, half-admitted. "But, then, I realized I couldn't leave you to 'suffer' all on your own." She took the flute offered to her, and nodded her head in thanks. "Oh, I forgot. Chinese New Year starts today, doesn't it?" That was on the 16th, and if so then that meant... "Valentines Day already passed? Geez, where does the time go? I would've gotten you a card, had I remembered," she mused, right before clinking her glass to his. "And, a remarkable and handsome gentleman." Following his line of compliment, she took a sip from her glass, believing that to be the most appropriate thing to do, and laughed when she looked over at Vince's, now empty, glass. "Woah, slow down there. I don't need you getting drunk on me," she teased.
Olivia took another sip of her champagne, savoring its taste, and looked around the ball. Part of the reason why she'd agreed to come was because the location was in Kalos, and there was a chance, a small one, that such a well-advertised event would attract the attention of a certain flame-colored team. "We should wander around," she suggested, gaze still cast outwards. "That way we can see what--" she was interrupted by the sudden appearance of two individuals, a man and a woman, and Olivia turned around to watch as the male hugged Vince. She offered a smile to both, though her attention remained primarily on the male, he was the one who seemed to know Vince after all. "I'm Olivia," she introduced herself, and then offered her hand to the male. "And you are?"

► Stepping back into the Ballroom Emory found herself quickly accosted by all the new people. The room had really filled out. She wasn't claustrophobic but even still she felt cramped, even in this large open room. Even Lopunny was uncomfortable with how many people had come. But a quick glance at the clock mounted on the wall told her the crowd was probably here seeking to depart via the Abra's and their butler trainers. A small twinge of disappointment she hadn't gotten to meet more people took hold but she told herself it was probably for the best considering. Coming hadn't been a loss though. She'd gotten a new Munchlax added to her team and even met a cute boy. Though their encounter was cut short she felt she'd meet him again one day. Lia made a face as her twin suggested knowing Vince wouldn't have helped make a different choice. I take back what I said. You don't have faith in Vince at all, and that's even worse. She was mildly offended as Leo pulled away from her, even if it made sense, since they were arguing. Lia took in a deep breath and let it out to cool her jets. "I'm sorry. It's not a bad idea, really it's just..... I don't like your attitude about it all I guess. I wish you wouldn't... Use people like that. Can you honestly stand there, look me in the eye, and tell me that you were just trying to make us some money? With no ulterior motives whatsoever? If he could, then she'd drop it, but she had her doubts, knowing her brother and his opinions of humanity. .....I know you don't trust them, and that they haven't done much to earn it, but that doesn't mean they're all bad, even Vince isn't bad even though I know you don't believe it. Lia insisted quietly, tugging anxiously at her hair now that she didn't have Leo's hand to hold anymore.

Vince couldn't tell that Olivia was semi-serious about her struggles to find a dress and just went along with it like their usual banter. "Well thank you for being ever so gracious and sparing me from such a fate. I would have dearly missed your company." He suggested. "Though, for future reference, you needn't deliberate so much on attire; you'd look good in anything." With that compliment, he handed over her flute of champagne so that they could toast to the new year. Olivia seemed surprised by how quickly time had passed though, commenting on how they'd missed valentines day too. "Ah... You're right. Well, we've just been busy is all. Perhaps we can celebrate it late with that picnic we discussed? Fortree seems apt for such an endeavor." He suggested with a small smile and a toast before he downed his glass.
"Aha, not to worry. It is simply a tradition of ours to make speeches and then finish a glass after each 'gān bēi'. Since I am likely the only one to know of the celebration, I doubt I'll be chugging any more drinks.... Unless you feel like making a toast?" He raised a brow suggestively. Instead of taking him up on the offer though, Olivia started suggest they explore, which Vince would have agreed to had a familiar face not spotted them.
As Ducky threw his arms around him, Vince immediately squirmed out of the other male's embrace. Most of it was due to shock, since he didn't expect Ducky to be here, but he'd also never really liked people coming up and touching him out of nowhere for a variety of reasons, and it showed on his face as he writhed away. "Gah! G-get off! ......Wait.... D-ducky...? What are you doing here...?" He felt a bit bad for acting so adverse to Ducky's friendly affection but.... No, it was no good. He just didn't want to be touched by Ducky. He couldn't stand it. It wasn't just Ducky though. Vince reacted badly to physical contact with any man aside from blood relatives. Well.... and Jian, but that was a different matter entirely.
Vince looked mildly irritated as Ducky introduced him to the girl he was with. "Vince. For the last time, my name is Vince." He sighed, before laying eyes on the unfortunate girl who, no doubt had been lured in by Ducky's "charm". Wait..... Did he say sister? Vince reassessed Wei with more scrutiny. "Sister, as in.... Other than Nao-cha— I mean.... Naomi?" He repeated dumbly, clearing his throat after he nearly slipped into the nickname Hinoka always used for her best friend. "...Huh... Yeah, even I have to admit, she reminds me of a young Mrs. Koizumi, but that's strange. I don't recall seeing her around Blackthorn." Wei seemed less than responsive to all of this, looking quite overwhelmed and then bumped from behind stumbling forward. Vince was quick, moving to gently brace and catch the poor girl. "Woah, careful. You appear as comfortable with crowds as I feel." He murmured sympathetically with a chuckle. "Perhaps we should move to another area? Olivia was just suggesting that we explore." Vince offered. There were a number of hallways leading out of the ballroom, perhaps they would serve as a better, quieter place to play catch-up-meet-and-greet. Plus, the less chance Ducky had to snatch Olivia away for a dance, the better, at least in Vince's opinion. "Were you separated from the Koizumi's somehow, Wei?" He asked curiously. As much as he loathed to admit any closeness with Ducky, he did admire the Suannis, and knew the clan well enough that he would have seen Wei with them if she had, in fact, been around.
Of course, Ducky's attention quickly turned to Olivia, and Vince's face puckered into a tight one as he tried not to look too angry or upset, but still shot steely glares at Ducky that promised a pain if he so much as thought to try anything with Olivia. At the same time though, he was quick to insist that Ducky's suggestion was off base. "I never said such a thing, but regardless, it's not like that. We're just.... Traveling together...." Vince insisted stubbornly, crossing his arms in defiance as Olivia introduced herself. Of course, just because he and Olivia weren't in a relationship didn't mean he would be okay with Ducky attempting to seduce her. He outright refused to allow it, even if it was technically none of his business and ultimately not his decision to make.
Yue was so focused on Vince and Olivia that she too, failed to sense Ducky's rapid approach in time to give Vince any ample warning. Thankfully the boy's intentions were good even if Vince still reacted poorly. The gardevoir's attention shifted to a far more important matter than Vince's odd reaction to Ducky however, as she had a reunion to attend herself. The twin sisters seemed to notice each other simultaneously, taking some time to get over their initial shock. "Lucina!~ It is good to see you again." Yue smiled, seeming relieved, but.... Lucina seemed to be traveling with Ducky, which was surprising. "What of Ezra? Is he not with you?" If something had happened to their former trainer though, Yue was certain that Lucina would have felt far more grave upon seeing her. "Actually, I go by Yuè Shū now. Is it not a lovely name? It reminds me of all our time in Johto." She smiled fondly, though quickly noticed the rather harsh look she imparted to Vince and her smile faltered. Lucina still held a grudge, it seemed. "Please, let us not do this here. I would like to enjoy this time with you, as Vince surely like to enjoy his time with his company." She insisted.
The little ralts hovering near Lucina seemed to take notice of their relationship, and Yue bent down to greet them with a kind smile. "Aha, thank you little ones. What cute company you keep Lucy! Yes, we're twins~ I presume you are as well?" She cooed.

Readjusting herself, Wei patted down her dress a bit. Aside from being in an overly crowded place, she noticed now that her dress was a bit.. lacking, compared to other woman walking around the ballroom. Though, it wasn't as though she cared much about it. Her gaze was on Vince after all, he was kind enough to help catch her when she'd been pushed forward. Even if his help wasn't entirely needed, it was appreciated. She bowed her head in thanks, then began to process his words. A light chuckle escaped, she was relieved to hear she wasn't the only one not comfortable with this many people crammed into one area. "I-its- I'm fine. Just give me a bit of... a moment to collect myself." Wei insisted. She felt it wasn't her place to decide where they went or when. Though, she wouldn't be against following. "This is just moving so fast, it's hard for me to keep up really." The blonde admitted. She was meeting with someone that Ducky apparently know as well as she knew the monks and charges of her temple, this man.. was a... friend? Or maybe just an acquaintance of the family she'd just been told she was apart of. If it was all true, there were more questions that were ready to burst from her lips at any moment. She smiled nervously, deciding to take one step at a time. First, she'd answer the male's question. She felt bad now having missed his name during her little crisis. "I... I think I was. I was told when I was younger that a young woman, my mother, had left me on a temple's doorsteps, a temple that raised me. I was then told that my mother looked like me, and lived somewhere in Johto." As she spoke, all the information she'd just learned was neatly falling into place. Thank her lucky stars that she was gifted with a quick mind and a calm one as well. But, even as it was making it's way to her lips in a neat and orderly fashion, the conversation switched quickly over to the pinkette, whom Ducky had come to notice... and whom the male had come to notice he'd noticed. Wei held her tongue, as it seemed Vince was quick to correct Ducky on whether or not he'd had 'time for that'. Wei's smile seemed to flatten a bit, not because she was upset, but... rather, confused. What did that mean? And why was Vince so quick to deny it? Just another question filed into the 'not her business' cabinet.
Fen practically beamed, her smile was so bright. She was liking all this complimenting going on lately. Not to mention, she was still fantasizing the two Gardevoir like goddess'. Lan Se, the more down-to-earth of the two was actually listening to the conversation as a whole. 'We are.' Lan Se voiced, moving over to her sister to rest at her side. 'I'm Lan Se, this is my sister, Fen.' Normally the shy one, Lan Se had sort of grown used to the presence of Lucina, so it was as if staring into a picture when it came to her sister, Yuè. 'It's so cool, meeting twins. You're the first pair of twins we've ever met.' Fen finally pipped in, placing an arm across her sister's back. 'Good to know not all of us are inverted copies of one another.' Lan se looked over towards her sister. Fen picked up the rather upset look Lan se was giving off. 'I'm not saying I don't like being your polar opposite, sister. I like the way we look.' Lan se seemed to pout, but looked away regardless.

► Mingling, for a girl with no voice, was difficult, to say the least. Most people outright ignored her and the few who didn't, assumed she was being rude by "not speaking up". While others outright didn't care long enough to give her so much as a passing glance. It was frustrating and somewhat embarrassing to be spoken to, and about in such a manner. It was just a mild reminder why she'd been so vehement about getting back to traveling as a trainer. Puffing her checks out and walking with an audibly heaver step Emory left the Ballroom in search of something to eat in order to tame her temper.

The butler was right. The guests that made up the ball were all older people; not a kid in sight. But, that didn't stop Erryn from making the most of it. Who knew mingling was so easy? The adults she talked to seemed to actually like her; which was new. People from Namai tended to just ignore her, but these ones were genuinely interested in what she had to say.
Maybe it was because they were surprised someone so young could keep up with their conversation. The group she found herself with were discussing politics and Erryn was very interested in that subject. She wanted to be chancellor, after all. Politics was an important thing she needed to learn.
After awhile, the small group of adults disbanded and Erryn moved on to see if she could mingle with others. Unfortunately, she didn't really integrate into other groups that well; they all seemed to be groups of close friends. Instead, Erryn took a seat near the wall and stared up at the ceiling to study the mural. Her attention was caught by Bryant, who tugged her sleeve.

"The ice is melting. We should go outside so Cuno can make a new casing."
Erryn looked at the egg and frowned. He was right. The egg needed a new casing. Outside was probably the best place to have Cuno make a new one. That way they didn't bother any of the guests that were inside.

Luckily for Vince, Dakota's hug was quite brief, so the other's adverse reaction to being touched went mostly unnoticed. "I'd like to ask you the same thing, Vinny! This kind of thing isn't your style. I expected to run into you in some cave somewhere, brooding on your own. Not at a gala. With a pretty lady, nonetheless." Ducky replied. As per usual, the other didn't take kindly to being introduced as the nickname he had used for him since they were children. He nodded to confirm that that he did indeed mean sister as in other than Mimi-chan when talking about Wei. It eventually occurred to Vinny how much Wei resembled Ducky's mom, however the dragon tamer commented on not having seen her before. The blue-eyed samurai felt anxiety gnaw at his insides as the topic of how Wei had not been seen in Blackthorn before, causing him to have a nervous smile on his face. "I-it's uh... a kind of complicated issue... You know, it'd be better to catch up somewhere less crowded. How about... isn't there a Banquet Hall or something? I've still got to drink to the chinese new year~" he jumped on the topic of moving rather quickly, especially as he did start to realize that Wei seemed overwhelmed. "There is, in fact, a Banquet Hall here." Lucina confirmed to them all. If that's where they all agreed to go, then Ducky was well prepared to follow.
The pink haired female introduced herself, holding out her hand. Dakota took it in a friendly manner with a smile. "It's lovely to meet you, Olive. My name is Dakota Koizumi, of the Suanni clan. You can call me Ducky, though." he told her, patting the back of her hand a bit before releasing it to put a hand to his cheek. He really couldn't help but feel happy for his friend. "I'm so glad to see Vinny is in such good hands~ Promise me you'll take good care of him, Olive~" he smiled, his demeanor slightly mimicking a bashful fangirl. He was completely ignoring Vince's stubborn insistence that the two were only traveling together. "Come on, we should move on to the banquet hall and celebrate! My childhood friend finally found himself a lady!" Ducky exclaimed, wiping a mock tear from his eye.
Lucina was having a reunion of her own, though hers was starting to turn more bittersweet. She wanted to he completely happy seeing her sister again, she truly did, however, she couldn't help but feel salty about the fact that Luna had left in the first place. "Ezra is not here. I am with Dakota now, as a favor." she replied, but made a face when Luna mentioned that her name was now different. It felt like a knife to the chest, hearing that she had given up her name for a different one. Her own twin sister felt even further than before, somehow, even with her standing there before her. The fact that she was sure that her sister got her new name from that man only intensified the hatred in her glare towards her sister's new caretaker. Lucina looked away however, when her sister caught the scathing gaze that had been aimed at Vince. "He's the cause of most of Ezra's pain... I do not know the full story, but I am not inclined to getting friendly with that man." she stated plainly with a bit of a huff. She knew her sister meant well, but it all just stung a bit too much in the moment. Thankfully, it seemed like they would be moving soon, and a change of scenery might make it easier for her to cool her head about this entire issue with 'Luna'. She looked down at the twins by her side as her sister took notice of them as well. Lucina pursed her lips, remaining silent as her sister interacted with the twin ralts, not wanting to sour their mood with her current inner turmoil over her sister.

Leo narrowed his eyes, face turning red from a mixture of embarrassment and anger. "Why would I have faith in him? We just met!" From within his pocket he tightened his fist, nails biting into the flesh of his palm, before abruptly loosening it, and with the lose of form so went his anger. His face slackened and shoulders dropped before he turned to look at Lia, directly in the eye as she requested. "I just did it so that we would have the money to take care of ourselves," he spoke slowly, physically announcing the words before he turned away from her. He wanted to say more, a scathing remark burning on the tip of his tongue, but he held back and swallowed the words along with everything else. "I'm going outside," he announced before he started for the door.

Olivia chuckled before curtsying playfully, lifting the hem of her dress up ever so gracefully as she dipped down, "think nothing of it, my good sir." Brushing herself off afterwards, she turned a cursory glance out towards the various passing guests moving about the ballroom, a wry smile splayed across her lips. "Really? Well, as flattered as I am to hear that, I don't think anyone here would appreciate if I showed up in, say, slacks and a t-shirt," she jested, giving an example of Vince's claim, before she turned back to the man himself. After being handed her champagne, and toasting to the New Year, Olivia took another sip of her drink to hide a growing smile. "A post-Valentine's picnic? Careful Vincent, that sounds suspiciously romantic." She doubted that Vince intended for his offer to be taken that way, but the idea was as amusing as it was exciting, and she wouldn't necessarily be opposed to either the idea of its implications. She scrutinized him under playfully lowered eyes, and hummed as if only half-convinced, "well, alright. If you say so. I just don't want to be the one who has to carry you back. Plus, I don't think teleportation is good for anyone under the influence." The instantaneous transportation had been rough on her stomach when she'd been sober, she couldn't imagine what it'd be like for someone who'd had a few drinks too many. "Maybe we can toast a little later? To... enjoying ourselves," she suggested.
Olivia held back a laugh when Vince's acquaintance described his perceived activities, even if the two weren't friends -- which she garnered from Vince's reaction -- at the very least, it was clear that the two were familiar with each other. After all, that did sound like something Vince would do, or at least... the Vince she'd first met might've done. But Vince had changed since they'd begun traveling together, or maybe he'd just relaxed? Olivia turned to the other young woman in their group, offering her a smile. She couldn't say she resembled anyone -- after all, she had no clue to who Vince was referring to -- but she could say that she was pretty, and a few years younger than herself. When the blonde stumbled forward, bumped by someone from behind, she took a step forward to try and help brace her, only to find Vince already doing the same. Olivia stepped back.
"It's nice to meet you, Ducky, Wei," she nodded to both of them. She wasn't sure about what he meant about being apart of a clan, though Vince seemed to, and she only nodded as she stored the information away. "Well, I certainly try, but he can be a handful sometimes," she joked. In agreement with them moving to a less crowded area, especially if it helped put Wei at ease, she began to follow after Ducky towards the banquet hall. She chuckled lightly, but shook her head all the same. "We're really not a couple," she insisted. "It's like Vince said, we're just... traveling together." She hadn't caught onto it before, but in repeating Vince's words she became aware of the fact that he'd referred to them as traveling companions; he could've called them friends, they were at least that weren't they? As odd as it was, or maybe she was just overthinking it, she brushed the thought away and put on another smile. It wasn't anything to get upset over.

Riley had been fine, the ball had been fine, and yet Huey took no comfort in this. Or! Well! He was glad to know that Riley wasn't hurt, and hadn't been lured into some weirdo's evil plans or whatever, but now that that was done, he never wanted to step foot into a ball again! And yet... even after confirming that she was alright, he had stuck around until the very end of the ball, as wary and grumpy as a child his age could look -- especially for one who wasn't used to either -- before finally taking his leave. Huey resisted the urge to take off his tie then and there, mostly because he wasn't quite sure how to take it off, as he made his way out of the ballroom and back to the entrance of the ball. Now that it was done, he could go to... he wasn't actually sure where to go, he just knew he wanted to leave. Some quick thinking provided him with Icirrus City as his next destination, the city of Unova's seventh gym, and it wasn't long before he was climbing back onto Belle. It'd been some time since his team had done any serious training. With them so close to finishing, now definitely wasn't the time to slack off.
