The Meaning of Fear __________________________________________________ Meta Reaction: The Decision "Don't worry, Elai. I'll be back safe and sound in no time with the Doctor in tow as well. You're overreacting. Nothing's going to happen to me. You're acting like I'm never coming back."
"Luka... I think you're underestimating the severity of the situation. You're not going to some summer camp. Weren't you paying attention? Doctor Kyou has been missing for 3 weeks. This is serious. He's someone who has had lots of experience when it comes to fel essences and souls, but he's gone. Even this was too much for him. I really want you to reconsider your decision Luka. I have a very bad feeling about this..."
"I know you're worried Elai. But I'm not changing my mind. The only reason I've been able to meet you was because of this Doctor Kyou person. He made me.... So... I have to return the favor. I have to show him how thankful I am that he gave me this opportunity to meet you and all the others. It's not right to walk out on saving him when he gave me so much more than just the breath of life." The Frei's words were slow, well thought out. He had put a lot of thought into this. He'd stayed up all night thinking. Even he had a bad feeling about this, but he didn't want Elai to know that.
"I'll be fine, nothing bad will happen. There are others coming as well, and we'll all look out for each other. I promise you that I will return safely."
Elai sighed and massaged his temples. As much as he wanted to say no and prevent the Frei from leaving, the Frei's reasons for finding the doctor were deeply personal. There was no way he could stop the Satyr now. "Just... be safe. Please. I'm not sure what I'll do if I have to experience another scene like the one with LuLu's attack."
Luka couldn't help but give his guardian a smile. "I have to keep you on your toes somehow. I promise I'll be back in no time. And, I'll even bring you a souvenir...." Luka paused before floating closer to his guardian's side before giving the man a hug. "Don't be lonely while I'm gone. I'm sure the other guardians wouldn't mind spending their time with you."
Elai heaved a sigh, before giving the Frei an affectionate pat on the head. "Don't do anything stupid. And if you don't come back soon, I'll fly you over there and drag you out by the horns. Be safe, and stay close with everyone okay?"
Luka nodded. "I'll be safe with everyone. You have nothing to worry about." Grabbing his bag of supplies for the rescue mission, Luka gave Elai one last wave before leaving the apartment.

The Meaning of Fear __________________________________________________ Meta Reaction: Bus Meet {Cruz, Luka, LuLu, and Rhedefre} LuLu should've packed lighter. She should have, but she did not. Who knew that one girl could need a suitcase the size of her to survive on one trip. Her laundry list of essentials had been long enough to wrap around her waist three times and now she was paying the price with an aching shoulder and back. The rabbit huffed and puffed as she dragged her luggage over to the bus for loading. Not even her sigel strength was a match for the enormity of her womanly needs. Her strength was sapped by the time she got it to the bus. The rabbit flopped over on the sizable bag. She groaned aloud to no one in particular, “I quit.”
Reks should've packed more. They said to bring food so he placed a few of his favorite ocean rocks into a baggie and was just about to leave with only that. But when he got to the door, the sleepy raevan thought better of it and slinked back to his room actually pack a backpack. By then, on the next go-around to the door, he had thrown in a hoodie if it got cold, a small first-aid kit, and just in case he also tucked in a book on wilderness survival.
Now as he floated beside the bus, the raven felt that he probably needed more for this trip. The other raevans and humans were bringing far more than he did. For goodness sakes, just look at the queen-sized luggage LuLu was toting!
He had only met her a sparse number of times over the years but even Reks could tell that something was different about her. His eyes widened when he realized the bunny raven was also bringing along a new attachment on this trip: a torso! Looks like someone had been busy...
"That's a...um...mighty bag you brought." The gargoyle raeven said as he drifted over to where LuLu was collecting herself. Yep, he thought as he looked over the stuffed luggage, he was definitely impressed by her show of strength. "Do you need help putting it on the bus? I didn't bring much so I have extra hands to help."
At first, LuLu thought someone was trying to make a smart remark about her luggage decision. Mighty? The rabbit looked up to Iorek with more fierceness in her gaze than she was deserved. She immediately corrected her expression as she realized who it was that was commenting. Her features softened as she tilted her head and took her time taking in Reks’ form and face. She needed a few moments before she recalled the other raevan’s name. It had been years since their last meeting. Though the memories were distant, she recalled fond ones from the day. Her smile grew broad as he offered to help her. The rabbit nodded with renewed vigor. “That would be lovely.” She scooted the bag into a better position for him to grab. “It is also lovely seeing you again.”
Reks was certainly startled by the first look LuLu gave him. For a moment he was on the verge of panicking over what he could of done to receive such a stare. But as quick as it had come the look was gone and a sweet face rested in its place. He smiled back at her and took the bag with one hand while the other was offered to her, "Heh, just to refresh your memory the name's Iorek. We met a long while ago but I remember a toy store and a doll you just couldn't reach. How ya been?" He realized after he probably sounded a little too cheery for what they were about to embark on. Maybe it was his nerves that gave him that extra happy boost? Soon as those wheels on the bus got going Iorek's worries would set in, but for now he might as well ride the high.
She slipped her hand into his. Her small palm fit neatly into place and she could feel the weight of his arm as she shook it. The rabbit nodded and quirked a brow, "LuLu. I recall. I appreciated that at the time. Though, I do not have that doll anymore." Her wings snapped gently against her back. "Good and bad. Good for now." She smiled despite her words showing she held some optimism regardless of the reason they were all here. LuLu was not feeling nervous yet either. Maybe once the threat of danger turned into a promise things would change. For now though, things were peaceful enough in the group.
Iorek smiled wider, happy to hear she remembered it like he did. Course he couldn't relate to her giving the doll up. Most of his possessions he shared with Tyson and what was his alone he had kept. One these days he'd donate his old toys but not yet. "Well, I'm glad it's back in the good. You look great by the way. Congrats on the waist and tummy. Have you tried human food yet?" That was always something he was very curious about. He liked his rocks but lately he found himself staring like a begging dog at Lil and Tyson's food. Now to know another raevan had the ability to taste test all those sweet smelling foods? He had to say he was slightly jealous.
The rabbit helped Iorek heft her luggage into the bus. LuLu's eyes widened at his praise. Becoming sigel was some kind of accomplishment in her book, it was certainly something that had been earned through hardship, but she never considered it would be recognized by other raevans. The rabbit felt herself fluff with pride somewhat. “Thank you.” She nodded enthusiastically at the mention of human food. “I was eating that before I had a stomach. My favorite is carrot cake. It does not fill me up like other things. It is yummy though.” Human food was more for taste than any kind of nutritional value. LuLu enjoyed it all the same though.
"I haven't tried it too much." He licked his lips and thought about some of the foods he'd missed out on, "I'm still eating rocks but one of these days I hope to have it too. Course by then you'll probably have legs." Iorek grinned and made sure her luggage was secured and not at risk of tipping over and squishing anything. "Alrighty! Looks like you're all set, LuLu. Judging by this luggage you're probably going to be the most comfortable out of all of us."
LuLu giggled softly at Iorek's joke. It was good for lightening up the mood and it was what they all needed at this point so early in the morning. The rabbit also helped in making sure her belongings were situated properly in place. However, she did not need to worry about her bag being damaged. It was the other luggage that would need protecting. Once everything was positioned, LuLu ducked out with Reks. The sigel smiled bashfully, “I just like being prepared.” She drifted back into the crowd a bit now that her dealings with the luggage were over with.
Luka had packed lightly, but thoroughly. With his hobby of sleeping out in the woods every night, the Frei had gotten pretty good at learning to differentiate between what were and were not necessitites. He had managed to shove in some flashlights, flares and extra batteries just to be safe. There was no guarantee there would be light where they were headed, and... flares would be visible hopefully to everyone if something did go wrong. He had also packed a first aid kit, a jacket, and a fire starter for when the nights came. As he neared the buses, Luka noticed two figures. One was quite obviously LuLu, and the other... well the other was new to him. The frei deliberated approaching the two but decided against it, for now. Instead, he opted for putting away his luggage first.
The pack Anita had helped him with was little more than a carry on shoulder bag filled with stuff to keep Cruz occupied during the long bus trip. An MP3 player, hand held games, a couple books, and his guardian had packed similar for herself. Everything else inside was much more important and the extraneous stuff would be switched out into her bigger suitcase once they arrived; first aid kits, flash lights, whatever crisis preparation equipment they could get ahold of for personal use.
While the croc looked around at all of the new and colorful faces, he felt mixed feelings of excitement and apprehension. This felt like some kind of field trip, almost like an adventure, but he knew this wasn't supposed to be fun and that once they arrived things would get serious. Even dangerous. He didn't understand why Anita was so determined to go and her mother had given her a lot of grief -- she was just worried -- but eventually she explained it to him. When he was still waiting to be born in Lab, one of the Raevans caused a situation and he was put in danger, along with other people she knew and cared about. He could get behind that. She just wanted to make sure no one in her extended family was hurt again.
Clutching the strap of his messenger bag, Cruz hovered while Anita was hauling her big suitcase to store it. He asked if she needed help but she declined. Looking around, at least on this side of the bus, none of the Raevans looked immediately familiar but the dim light of dawn was hiding many in shadow. Only a certain satyr's bright form immediately caught his attention and Cruz hovered over. His smile was muted, tired and uncertain, but present all the same.
"Luka," he rumbled as he approached, second guessing whether he had gotten the frei's name right for how long it had been since they spoke.
"Cruz!" The Satyr replied, giving the Croc a sunbeam smile. "It's been a while! How are you? You look tired." It was a wonder that Luka still remembered Cruz's name after how long it had been since their initial meet. "Is it just you? Or will Anita be coming as well?" He couldn't help but look around and try to spot the other's young guardian.
"Mmm," he mumbled affirmatively, rubbing one of his eyes with the back of his hand. His smile brightened despite it. "Nita is here. She's putting bags away." Noticing Luka's searching, he turned to the side and pointed with one clawed finger to Anita, also tired, waiting for her turn to stuff a big rolling suitcase into the storage compartment. She looked tired too, perhaps more than Cruz, but she was too far away to notice their glances. "Is your -- mm -- Jez? Here?"
"Oh really?" When Cruz motioned towards Anita's direction, Luka's eyes followed until he spotted the young woman by a large bag. One might have thought they were going to on a summer vacation instead of a rescue mission with all these big bags. "Elai? No, he has an important client and their family coming in over this week. So, he'll need to stay and work." He explained. "Otherwise he would've wanted to accompany me. Or, maybe he would've asked me to stay while he went." The reluctance his guardian had shown towards him regarding his decision to help with the rescue mission was stuck in his head. "Is Anita reluctant to have you along too?"
Cruz wasn't sure what was in the bigger bag, now that he thought of it. Probably more to do with Anita's needs than his own, like spare clothes and food. She also probably packed their tooth brushes and bathroom type things, not that he had many. "Ah," he responded simply to the explanation, rubbing one of his eyes with a finger. "Mmm, a little. She wanted to go though. Said it was okay if I wanted to stay but I wanted to come. I don't really remember Dr. Kyou but I don't want him to be in trouble."
"I don't remember him at all. I don't think I've ever seen him." Luka commented. It was weird actually, now that he thought about it. This man who was his proposed creator, and he'd never even met him. He just knew him by name. "Hopefully we'll find him soon before there's more trouble."
It was hardly a memory for Cruz. He only vaguely recalled waking up, everything was blurry and sterile, and there were hands examining him before he was set into a waiting room. He didn't even know for a fact those hands had been Dr. Kyou's but it made sense, given the circumstances.
"Yes," Cruz rumbled, stifling a yawn with the back of his hand. He glanced around again, squinting against the dawn. There was another form that was familiar, with its rocky texture and long cylinder arms. The croc tilted his head, then smiled and nodded when he decided it was, in fact, Iorek he was seeing. "Luka, there is Yorek. Do you know him?" he pointed, not yet noticing the other Raevan near him as she was blocked at his current angle.
Luka followed Cruz's gaze to the gray Raevan beside LuLu. "No. I don't know Yorek." He replied, his eyes moreso on LuLu than the new Raevan Cruz had mentioned. "Would you like to introduce me to him?" It was probably a good idea to get on some kind of familiar term with the other Raevans he hadn't met yet just in case he got in a search party with them.
His smile broadened at Luka's question, a bit of excitement catching in his eye at the prospect. Cruz nodded, "Let's go say hi," and adjusted the strap over his shoulder before hovering nearer. It looked like he just finished putting a big back into the storage compartment as well, so now would be the perfect time to engage before they had to board. "Yoooorek," he called as their distance closed, voice scratchy and groggy but there was still a bubbling happiness at getting to see another frei he knew here.
LuLu's ears perked as they caught a familiar voice, croaky but cheerful. Her eyes scanned the crowd until she saw Luka. She offered the satyr a nod of her head and the faintest of smiles and left it at that. Her gaze then shifted to the other frei nearby. Her eyes widened. "Cruz."
Reks perked up when he heard that voice and quickly turned to look towards the oncoming green raevan and his friend. Cruz. The gray raevan's face immediately flushed red as memories of their first meeting came back for a visit. "C-Cruz! Uh...hey, you're coming on this trip too?" He smiled widely while internally he fought away the peculiar feeling of butterflies in his chest. "It's nice to see you again. How are you? What have you been up to? Um..your friend? Hi, uh, I'm Iorek," He held his hand out even though the two had yet to close the distance between them "And this is LuLu...but...you probably already know her and..uh..heh." Word vomit as Lillian would call it and at this rate he was vomiting all over the place.
As they approached he noted movement behind Iorek. When the bunny girl first came into view he was still all smiles; he didn't recognize her as she was now, her appearance and scent completely different and she posed no threat. When she muttered his name he tilted his head, smiling but his brows knit with some confusion. Had they met before? Or had she just heard of him? Iorek's warm but bumbling greeting set him back into a steady pleasant demeanor and he stopped just a few feet from them.
"Yes. Lots of people are coming, mm?" He couldn't quite see the flush in the gargoyle's cheeks in the current light. "I'm good. This is Luka, he says he doesn't know you." Once that short name left Reks' lips, Cruz froze. His smile dropped and his eyes widened. Immediately his gaze shifted to the quiet sigel. It took a few moments for his eyes to trace over her ears, her braids, but when his mind put a filter of seeping ink over her, it all fit together.
Cruz backed up some, just enough to be safely out of arm's reach. Both hands clutched to the bag on his shoulder. "...LuLu?" his brow furrowed worriedly, green eyes locked with her bright purple ones.
Luka returned LuLu the silent greeting. A slight bow of his head, enough to acknowledge her presence but at the same time let her know things were still stiff between them. He turned his attention to Cruz and Iorek. "Hello, I'm Luka." The Satyr gave Iorek a rather warm smile. "A pleasure to meet you. And yes, I do know LuLu." He left it at that.
Luka's brows furrowed as he noticed Cruz's sudden change in demeanor. "...? Cruz?" The manner in which the croc had said LuLu's name hinted at some sort of history between the two.
LuLu stayed in place, remained small. Anything to take away from the threat Cruz was envisioning. She offered him a reassuring smile, but in the back of her mind she was worried at his reaction. Would it be like Luka’s? One of her delicate hands poised in the air and waved from side to side. “Hello again.” Her expression faltered a bit. “Are you ok?” She was not just asking how his day was going. LuLu was genuinely curious how their meeting had affected him.
"Oh! Well, I'm glad we get to finally meet, Luka. At least with all of these people showing up we finally get to be introduced." Reks continued to smile even though inside he was wondering what to do with Cruz? The green raven seemed so cool and at ease while he, on the other hand, was on the verge of melting. Or at least he did until he saw LuLu.
"Heh, so, nice to see you all know each other already." Course it didn't seem like they were sailing on calm waters just yet. Reks felt uneasy at the tension between the trio but he kept the polite smile, "Surprised too, Cruz? LuLu gained her torso! Pretty neat, huh?" Maybe that was it? Maybe Cruz just didn't recognize her after she'd grown? Or perhaps they had a deeper history than he thought.
Surprised was one way of putting it. Cruz's gaze drifted to Iorek, lips parting nervously, then he looked back to LuLu. She was very different now, and it seemed she was also different to Reks. Was he unaware of what happened to LuLu before? He could feel Luka's tension beside him but the satyr wasn't making any defensive moves either and LuLu, herself, was not making any threats.
"I'm..." he started, lips creasing tightly as he stared at the sigel with apprehensive confusion. Was this how she normally was? Was everything fine now? "I'm okay. Are you...?" Anita knew her, she assured him after LuLu attacked him that she wasn't normally like that. Even so, it had hurt and he was scared, then. "Are you... better? LuLu?"
Luka watched the exchange between Cruz and LuLu silently before quickly turning his attention to Iorek. "Yes, I'm surprised I've never met you before Iorek. I've met a good number of our kind, but seems like there is always a good number I still haven't seen yet." He gave the Gargoyle another warm smile before asking a few more questions. "So how long have you known LuLu, Iorek? What about Cruz?" He took a quick cursory glance at LuLu and Cruz. It didn't look a fight would happen luckily. "We're all friends here." It felt weird saying that.
LuLu was relieved when Cruz declared he was okay. It felt like a small weight had been lifted from her. Her shoulders rose a little higher. However, at his next statement, she blinked in surprise. Cruz was asking how she was? Her chest fluttered, akin to when you saw something cute. The rabbit nodded, “Better? Yes, I am feeling better. I am sorry for our last meeting. I was feeling… very bad then.” She floated a bit closer, low and nonthreateningly, “I hope I did not scare you too much.”
Iorek had been looking between LuLu and Cruz with a great deal of curiosity. It wasn't his business but he couldn't help wondering what exactly had gone on between them. "Hm?" He managed to tear his attention away from the two and look back to Luka. Thank goodness he was there so Iorek wouldn't bump his nose into other raevan's private conversations. "Yeah, me too actually. With all the parties the lab holds you think we'd have socialized enough to know everyone. But someone always crawls out of the woodwork when you least expect it." He chuckled and returned the warm smile while pondering the question. "Let's see...I met LuLu a few years back but it's been a while since we chatted and Cruz..." He flushed again, his chuckle returning but this time it was light and rather anxious, "I met him this um...year." In hopes of Luka not catching his embarrassing red face he looked back at their friends, "We certainly are. Nice to have all these friends coming along with us. Should make it a whole lot easier."
Luka's assurance caused Cruz to sigh, though he didn't take his eyes off LuLu. Friends. Yes, they could all be friends. They knew LuLu past her inky monster, just like Anita did, and if this was how she was normally then he wanted to know her past it as well. Her response was positive and the frei relaxed visibly, brows lifting as his expression softened.
"Sorry you felt bad. You seemed... upset." perhaps not the right word. It was difficult to explain but, even though at the time LuLu had been smiling, there was some sort of pain there Cruz had detected when he first saw her. When he first approached and she grabbed his hand. He looked down, smile torn between apologetic and embarrassed. "I was scared... but I hurt you more than you hurt me, I think..." He remembered clearly how the water changed her, caused her to drip, and her attention immediately fell away from him.
Cruz hadn't meant to ignore the other two as they spoke but they seemed to understand that he and LuLu required their reconciliation. Whatever the case, all of them seemed to be on the same page now. Cruz lifted his head and gave LuLu a better smile, one not hindered by uncertainty. "You'll be okay now. Right?" he glanced between Iorek and Luka for confirmation.
"Well, it's no surprise when you consider all the new Raevans that are constantly being created, born." He corrected himself. He wasn't sure if the others knew or how they felt about it. So, it was better to use less.. fire starting words. "Oh really? Then you've known LuLu for quite a bit! You must be quite older than me too." And although Luka did catch the Gargyole reddening, he didn't bring any attention to it. His attention shifted from Iorek to Cruz though as he felt the other's gaze on him.
"I'm sure that she wouldn't be here if she wasn't going to be okay, Cruz." The Satyr said with a smile, giving the croc a reassuring smile. "Right, LuLu?" Luka asked, verbally engaging LuLu for the first time since seeing the Sigel at the bus waiting area.
And although he was curious about what had happened between LuLu and Cruz, he also knew it wasn't his place to ask.
LuLu shook her head and chided softly, "Do not worry about what you did to me." Luka looked up and caught Luka's gaze. Despite his upturned lips, there was still a tension between them, but that was expected. She felt the urge to reach out and pat the freis, to let them know everything was alright now. Her fingers twitched as they felt the itch to move. However, she simply clasped them together and returned their smiles, "I will be." With that said the girl left the boys so they could put away their own luggage.

The Meaning of Fear __________________________________________________ Meta Intro: Uncertainty {Luka and Rhedefre} Cesc continued to float down the middle of the bus, a smile still on his features after his brief greeting with Xiu. It was not until he spied another white head that he decided to sit, his smile tempering somewhat, but still full of warmth.
"Luka!" he greeted, sliding beside his brother-frei. "It is good to see you, my friend. How do you feel?"
Luka looked up when he heard the all to familiar voice of his fel sibling. "Cesc! I'm doing better. What about you?" He asked, returning the stag a warm smile of his own. It was a slight lie, but not one that Cesc would see through easily. "I never knew there were so many other Raevans I hadn't met yet." He said with a slight chuckle as his eyes looked over the sea of brightly colored heads.
There was a mild, unguarded concern in Cesc's eyes as he sat beside Luka, although he did not perceive the other's discomfort. His concern was purely his own. Should Luka be coming along on such a trek, not so long after suffering his injury? Who knew what was out there… But he could not deny that Luka's light would certainly be useful, should the search go into night. Clearly, however, Luka felt himself up to it, and Rhedefre could not deny that in this case, Luka surely knew best.
"I know," agreed Cesc. "And here I thought myself social. Not to mention the other humans -- I feel absolutely a hermit."
"Heh. There are probably some Raevans that didn't join in on the search as well. I wonder if maybe one day we will meet them all." He turned to give Cesc a smile. "And, Elai was worried about me coming. I think he feels that we won't come back or something. I told him I would be alright. Especially since so many of us are going, we're strong together." He said slowly, as if doubting his own words.
Cesc smiled. "I hope to, one day. It would be nice, I think… or maybe it would be nicer to not be able to, if there were so many."
His smile faded as Luka continued to speak. "Yes… Vivi and Shepard were… less than excited, themselves. But I think we are more capable than that. And, if nothing else, we owe it to the doctor."
He looked down, his expression anxious, then lifted his eyes to Luka's. "We will be fine."
"I'm sure you'll met them all some day. Lab always has its parties and so many people seem to attend." When Cesc mentioned Vivi and Shepard, Luka couldn't help but place a hand on the stag's shoulder. "As long as we come back fine, there won't be any more worries for them." When he caught Cesc's anxious expression, he couldn't help but knock foreheads with the stag. "The good always prevail right?"
Cesc relaxed into the gesture, letting out a faint laugh.

The Meaning of Fear __________________________________________________ Meta Reaction: Bus Meet {Luka and Revontulet} Doucette and Revon had arrived in Harrison’s car, and he’d insisted on following the bus in his own car. Something about a lock box, she wasn’t sure. Once at the meeting place however, the aurora spotted all of the other raevan’s and her rune pulsed with anticipation.
“I want to ride on the bus,” she said to Doe, her hand already on the handle to open the car door and let herself out. The guardian put up a small fuss before agreeing, offering to stay with the pilot as he drove for company. What trouble could the newborn get into on a bus full of other raevan anyway?
With closed eyes she’d rested against the cool window for a long moment, tired from the early morning trip that ate into her usual sleep schedule. The lulling rock of the bus felt good and the soft chatter around her was comforting, relaxing. But every now and then she’d open her eyes and frown out the window, a certain unhappiness pulling at the corners of her lips.
It didn't take Luka long to spot that sea of nightsky hair. Of course, what stood out to him even more than her hair was the slight frown pulling at the corners of her lips. An unfitting frown for a girl as pretty and fun as Revontulet. "Why the long face?" Luka asked, taking the seat beside the Aurora. "Are you worried about what's to come? Or is it something else?" He could understand her worries. Everyone else had made it clear just how dangerous this trip would be. Even the guardians seemed antsy despite the numbers they were moving in.
“Long face?” she repeated with confusion, the turn of phrase confusing to the young frei.
Turning her head, Luka’s warm smile filled her vision and a smile worked its way onto her own lips, warming her features somewhat. “No, I am not worried,” Revontulet confessed. The doctor’s fate was not what had brought her onto the bus in all honesty and the concept of danger seemed distant, just as ‘bad men’ had when they’d first met. Danger was something distant and unfamiliar to the girl and she didn’t spend time worrying about it if it wasn’t in front of her.
“I was thinking about my guardian. She did not want me to come.” Ren gave the satyr a look, half expecting him to commiserate with her. It was ridiculous that the redhead would not have brought her after all. Not when so many other raevens were coming along.
"Ah, a frowny face." He replied, making a typical caricature of a frown. "That's good. You shouldn't be worried, nothing bad will happen to any of us." He replied. He didn't believe it, but he sure as hell didn't want Ren knowing that.
When Ren mentioned Doucette, the Satyr turned to her with a curious look. "Did she? Well, I'm older than you but my guardian didn't want me to go either. They're just worried about us. Have you ever been hurt or broken something you really like? It's like that, very unpleasant feeling. They just don't want that. But, at least you're here now right?"
Revon let out a soft laugh at the term ‘frowny face’ and the expression the male put onto his features to make a point. It was endearing and she appreciated the gesture.
Reaching out a hand, the aurora touched her fingers lightly to Luka’s cheek (though she was ready to pull back if needed), preferring his smile to the frown. “Yes, we will be fine. So we don’t need to frown.” Unlike the satyr, Ren did believe they would be fine. What could happen with all these people working together? Raevan and human working together, they would find this mysterious daughter and the group would be headed home before night fell.
At his words she thought for a moment, brow furrowing. She had never broken anything she cared about (though there was the time her lava lamp had been unplugged, but then she’d found out it hadn’t been broken at all), and she was too young to have gotten into any serious scraps. No. The moonstone decidedly didn’t understand Doucette’s concerns, but knowing Luka’s guardian had been unhappy helped make her feel less babied by the woman.
“She could not stop me anyway.” Ren lifted her wings slightly, the gesture somewhat indignant.
The Frei smiled at her touch. "We will be safe. You will be safe. I'll protect you so that Doucette doesn't have to worry." The Satyr chuckled and tapped Ren lightly on the nose. For whatever reasons, he was particularly fond of the aurora. Maybe, it was her innocence.
"She just wants you to be safe. Don't blame her too much." Luka stretched out his own wings before leaning back into the seat. "No one wants to see their loved ones hurt." He could understand Doucette and Elai's reluctance. He understood the emotions that they were afraid of. The potential outcomes. "Do you think she'll be safe?" He asked. Doe was a human after all.
The aurora made a noise somewhere between a huff and a grumble. It was louder than just a hefted sigh of air, but mumbling was not befitting for a proper lady and so she muffled it somewhat. Ren had a hard time understanding the emotions and the drive to express them. Once, the girl had attempted to put herself in Doucette’s shoes, but she’d found herself too biased by her own desire to do something and thus siding with herself anyway. Needless to say, the experiment had not been a success.
The tap on her nose brought another smile to her lips, faded somewhat from her thoughts but always brightened by the satyr. “Harrison will protect Doucette,” she said with a shrug. True, things would be difficult if she lost Doucette. It would not be easy to stay in the house and she would need to find someone who could support her financially as she recognized she was too young to find a job (in addition to being unwilling to work for that matter). But would she miss her? On a personal level? It was hard to say. Revontulet had never been faced with the thought and could not bring herself to imagine the possibility.
“And I will protect Luka,” Ren said with a little flick of her ribbon, like a sun-bathing cat letting out a content purr. So she was not strong, but she was determined.
"Harrison?" Luka asked, head cocking slightly to the side. He'd never heard of that person before. Was it another guardian of Ren's? Or, a friend? "Well, as long as she is safe with him then we have nothing to worry about." He said with a smile. He had no idea if the parties would actually be split in Doucette's favor, but there was no real reason to bring that up.
When he heard Ren's words, he couldn't help but laugh. "So you'll be my knight in shining armor? Am I the princess then?" A musing smile on his lips, the Satyr flipped his long side forelock and spoke in the highest girliest voice he could muster. "Oh Lord Ren, you're too kind." He chuckled and wrapped an arm around the Aurora's shoulders. "We'll be fine. I won't even have to protect you from anything because nothing bad will happen to us."
Ren’s hand lifted and motioned towards the back of the bus to a car that was following behind. “He is a new guardian, Doucette says.” The moonstone’s tone sounded almost bored, unaffected by the inclusion of another guardian in the Lab. When she’d first met him he’d been shocked at the sight of a raevan, but now he was apparently getting his own. Perhaps finding Kyou was his way of thanking the doctor as well? She wasn’t sure.
At Luka’s high voice and hair flip the girl let out a rather uncharacteristic giggle, covering her mouth with one hand while her bright blue gaze danced under her dark lashes. With the satyr’s arm draped about her she curled up close to him, resting her cheek upon his shoulder and letting her eyes close for but a moment. It felt like Luka didn’t carry the same concern over the doctor’s wellbeing as the others – or at least didn’t let the anxiety override his actions. Revontulet liked that and she draped an arm over his chest to keep that feeling close for just a little while longer. “We can both be princesses. I don’t want to be a knight, I heard they smell bad.”
"Ahhh..." The Satyr said slowly. He didn't press for more details, given how ambivalent Ren seemed to be of this new guardian Harrison. After all, he wasn't here to bother her.
When he heard Ren giggle, the Satyr couldn't help but smile bigger. Something about Ren always helped him forget about whatever was bothering him, and he liked that a lot. When the Aurora leaned into him and rested her hear against his chest, he couldn't help but reach to run his fingers through her silky locks. "Well, you can be the princess. And I'll be wizard that shows you how to have a fun time." He snickered and leaned back into the seat. Hopefully, he would be placed with Ren.
He didn't want for her to get hurt.

The Meaning of Fear __________________________________________________ Meta Finale: Discouraged {Luka} The return trip from the search for Dr. Kyou had passed in a blurred haze for Luka. He could only remember flashes of what had happened prior to finding himself back at the village.
He had seen Prajna being pulled under the water, and his memory told him that the Fallen Star had been saved. He also remembered the piece of fabric that they had found. A possible clue to finding the doctor. And then, there was the flare going off into the sky.
Sitting at the window seat of the bus, Luka's brows furrowed. He remembered firing the flare gun after Prajna had almost drown. And then, he remembered he had kept moving on throughout the forest to find whatever clues he could find of the doctor. He had kept going throughout the night and into the day. But eventually, he had run out of water and dehydrated... And everything after that had been dark.
So, the villagers must have found him after he had separated from Prajna but within 12 hours after having separated from Prajna....
Sighing, Luka combed his fingers through his hair.
Again.
Again, he had failed to do anything worthwhile.
He had failed to protect Prajna.
He had failed to help find the Doctor.
He'd done nothing.

Luminary ExplorationsParticipants: Luka and Revontulet Location: Some secluded area Type: {Private Message PRP} Status: Completed
yaibe Luka peered at the dimly light screen of his phone again to check the time. He was on time. A smile pulling at his lips, he floated towards the area that he and Ren had agreed upon as their clandestine spot. He was curious, he hadn't gotten to talk to the Aurora in a while, and she sounded quite excited on the phone to meet. More accurately, she seemed very excited to show him something. Pulling up to their meeting spot, he took a quick look around hoping to catch sight of Ren.
kitten Revontulet brushed her fingers through her hair, surprisingly dark without the usual night time glow lighting up the blue and green locks. She had not fed today, waiting instead to meet Luka, saving herself for the trick she learned with Eiry. Although it was not anything useful or even interesting, she had known that the light frei would appreciate it and be excited for her. Or, she was sure that Luka would be excited for her, wouldn't he? The aurora arrived at just about the same time Luka did, her hand raising in a gesture of greeting as she spotted him and moved forward with a quick flutter of her wings. "Luka!" she said warmly, voice full of excitement but not raised to shouting tones.
yaibe "Ren!" The Satyr called out with delight as he heard the femme calling out his own name. Floating over to Revontulet, he took her in a tight hug. He had forgotten just how fond he was of her and seeing her again was enough to make him glow with warmth. "Its been a while. Have you been well? You look prettier than I recall." he said with teasingly as he brushed a dark navy bang out of her eyes. "Your hair is darker than I remember though." He said slowly as he twisted the length of hair around his finger. "Or is it just my imagination?" He chuckled and gave her a small kiss on her head. "It's nice seeing you again,"
kitten A light laugh escaped the frei as the satyr pulled her into a hug, her own lanky limbs returning the embrace warmly. She enjoyed being around Luka because touching and showing affection did not feel like a choreographed dance. He simply did what he wished and Revon enjoyed the spontaneity. "You are just saying that," Ren said, though her cheeks turned a pale pink and her rune glowed with pride. "And it has been too long. I could not go another night without seeing you. I hope you were not busy," she said suddenly, eyes widening with concern that she may have interrupted his evening. For a moment Ren seemed confused about his comment on her hair, before she seemed to startle to alertness and shrug her shoulders with a little smile. "Maybe you have never seen my hair when it's not glowing?"
yaibe "No, nothing could possibly be more important than seeing you tonight." He with a reassuring smile upon catching the sudden look of concern that had flashed through them. "I don't have anything important to attend to these days." At Ren's explanation about her hair, the Satyr's brow arched neatly. "I guess I haven't until today." He couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. "So, now that we're here, may I ask what this big surprise is?"
kitten Ren squeezed Luka's arm affectionately, her eyes dancing behind dark lashes, "Luka you are all silver tongued," she teased, using a phrase she'd heard from one of her movies. Truthfully the girl was basking in his kind words, the vanity she tried to keep deep down rising up like a moth to the flame. "Oh yes!" she exclaimed, turning her head and looking around for a moment before spotting the little park across the way. There were small foot-lanterns along the path to light the way for others, but thankfully there wasn't a lot of traffic at this time or location, which was why the aurora had chosen the location. "This way." Taking his hand, Revon pulled him gently towards the park, crouching down and reaching her free hand out until her finger touched the glass warmed by the bulb inside. After a moment of concentration, an obvious sign of her newness to this little trick, the lantern was suddenly filled three-quarters full with a pale yellow liquid that glowed much the way the light had done. "Ta-da!"
yaibe The Satyr smirked ever so slightly as she used the words silver tongued at him. "Hardly, silver tongued would be better used to describe Elai. I don't say words unless I mean them Revontulet." As she took his hand and lead him to the laterns, Luka followed her silently. He was burning with curiosity as to what exactly she was going to show him. Surprisingly, he knew very little about Ren aside from her cute personality. As they came to a stop, his attention focused on her fingers against the bulb. As the light from the bulb spread and lifted upwards in a viscous motion, the Satyr's lips pulled into an o shape of excitement. "Ren! What, how did you do that? Can I touch it?" He asked, his hand reaching out for the liquid.
kitten "Your words are still very silver, Luka," she said with a smile, pushing her hair back behind one of her ears. His delight at her trick had the smile growing even wider, her rune pulsing quickly with happiness. "I'm not really sure! I did it on accident at Eiry's library once, but I was tired for /ages/ after. He's been trying to help me figure out what else it can do. But I think it has to do with my essence - liquid aurora...liquid light." The moonstone's shoulders rose in a slow shrug as she watched him move his hand towards the liquid. "Its warm, but otherwise it's just water, nothing harmful."
yaibe "Liquid light..." He echoed slowly. Light was his domain but water was not. Could he still manipulate Ren's own watery lights? "I wonder..." As his hand came in contact with the liquid light, the glow intensified brightly like a miniature sun before exploding into a dozen smaller balls of pure light separate from the glowing fluid Ren had produced. In fact, the initial liquid light that Ren had made had lost it's light after being pulled from it's source by Luka. "I seemed to have learned something new from you." He mused. Waving his finger in a circular motion, the little orbs danced around Revontulet before returning one by one into the liquid she had produced.
kitten Revontulet let out a gasp of surprise and delight at the sight of the balls rising from the liquid, now nothing but a clear remnant of what she had made. "They're beautiful," she breathed, reaching her hand out as if to touch one, fingers stopping short only to marvel at them more. The way they danced and circled lit up her face and accentuated the delicate angles of her face, she looked pale and almost spirit-like sitting next to the satyr. "I wonder...what else we can do together," Ren said, leaning in towards Luka expectantly, as if he, the light frei, would have all the answers.
yaibe "I don't know what we're capable of Ren." He said with a slight chuckle. "I know only as much as you, if not less." Of course, he did however know what happened when he was near Cesc. Theirs was an interesting dynamic that not even the Satyr understood completely. "I'm sure though that as you gain better control over your abilities, we'll find more things that I can do with them and what we can even do together." The satyr smiled before reaching behind the Aurora's ear and pulling out an orb of light from thin air. "A magic trick for the pretty lady."
kitten The aurora let out a little cluck of her tongue against her teeth. "I am sure that's not true. You know much more than me, I'm sure." A little nod of her head was given though, at his next words. She was excited to learn more about her powers and how they might overlap or interchange with the satyr's. As his hand reached behind her ear, her eyes widened, waiting for what Luka was about to do. When she saw the little orb of light she let out a laugh. "Now you are showing off," Ren replied, reaching out one hand with a small wrinkle of her nose until the orb collapsed into a wet mess and drenching Luka's hand.
yaibe Luka chuckled. "Only showing off to impress you Ren." The Satyr gave her a playful wink. "Besides, you're mistaken. I know far less about my own abilities than you might think. And, I know even less about you than you think. So, it only makes sense that I know as much as you if not less about what we're capable of." As the orb collapsed into a watery mess on his fingers, he smiled and playfully tapped her nose with a wet digit.
kitten "A lady doesn't reveal her secrets," Ren replied to his comment on not knowing her very well. Straightening her shoulders, the frei attempted to look very regal for a moment, before the wet digit fell upon her nose and she let out a soft gasp, her lips a mixture of open-lipped shock but curled at the edges for a smile. But suddenly her lashes fluttered and her wings drooped upon her back. She did not so much swoon as visibly fatigue, the double display of her new trick taking its sudden toll on the aurora.
yaibe Luka was quick to move, catching the Aurora in a surprisingly strong hold with his arms under hers. "Revontulet?" He asked, voice laced with concern at the Frei's sudden change in condition. "Are you okay? Do you need to lay down?" He asked, moving them from the sidewalk to the patch of grass nearby. "Can you hear me?"
kitten "Ah, no, I'm fine," she replied, placing a hand on his arm as if to reassure him that there was nothing the matter. "I just shouldn't have done that. Eiry warned me about doing too much too fast. I guess I didn't pay attention."And she was speaking the truth, for what little color was in her already pale complexion was seeping back into her cheeks by the second and her rune had picked up a steady glow once more as opposed to flickering. "Thank you Luka..."
yaibe A look of concern lingered in the Satyr's eyes. "Are you sure? And, it's nothing to be thanking me for Ren. I wouldn't want you to get hurt." His head cocked ever so slightly to the side. "Would you like for me to walk you home?" It wouldn't sit well with him, sending Ren home alone by herself knowing she had almost fainted just moments before.
kitten Revontulet smiled at her friend and reached out to touch his cheek with her fingers, cool and smooth, "Yes. I'm not hurt, I promise." Turning her head to look around the park, Ren thought about his offer for a while. She did not like to have the satyr see her weak, and she knew she could make it home on her own as long as she didn't try any other tricks, but his company was always welcomed. "I would like that very much, but only if you are up to it. I don't want to take you out of your way."
yaibe "It wouldn't be a problem at all for me to take you home Ren. And, I'm sure Elai would more than prefer for me to walk you home and come later then usual than come early and have you walk by yourself." Giving her a reassuring smile, the Satyr moved his arm around the Aurora's ribbon waist to better support her. "Shall carry on then my knight?" He said with a chuckle. "Your princess awaits a response."
kitten A laugh overtook the moonstone at Luka's words and she was brought back to the bus trip and their silly conversation. Reaching up, Ren rested an arm around his shoulders comfortably. "This knight feels more like the damsel in distress at the moment," she replied, the color well back into her cheeks now as she smiled up at the satyr.
yaibe "Well, the knight is allowed to be weak sometimes." The Satyr said with a chuckle as Ren's infectious laughter coursed through him. Doing his best to support most of what little Ren weighed, the Satyr made in the direction of her residence.

The Sweetest Samples Participants: Luka and Revontulet Location: Durem's Froyoland Type: {Private Message PRP} Status: Completed
Luka's iris shimmered a deep molten gold as the Frei soaked up the sun's warm kisses on his skin. While some may have found the heat to be uncomfortable, the Satyr found it nothing short of comforting. Checked the time on his phone, Luka gave the crown another skim. It was time, yet Ren was no where to be seen for their froyo adventure today.
Ren wasn't sure she was glad they were meeting during the day or not. Although she wasn't tempted to feed on the sunlight, due to its somewhat bitter flavor, the light drew into focus the sharp angles of the pale frei who was already naturally thin. Nervousness and overthinking her clothing choices had made her late, but the weight of all her concerns melted away at the sight of the satyr. "Luka!"
"REN!" The Satyr cried out, glee surging through his voice. "You look prettier than I remember!" He teased, taking her in a tight hug. "Your hair is as beautiful as always though," He said, running a finger through her ombre locks. "Have you been? Are you excited for today?" He asked, eyebrows waggling dramatically.
The aurora's cheeks blushed at the satyr's compliments. Although she was looking far from her best, she appreciated the other's warm words and basked in his happiness. As Luka's fingers brushed into her hair she turned her head and brushed her cheek against the inside of his arm, nosing into the crook of his elbow and taking in his warmth. "I'm good now, with you. I have been very excited for this so-called delicious thing you found."
"I'm excited that your excited!" Giving her a peck on the forehead, the Satyr turned to face the building behind them. "Froyoland has the best frozen yogurt I've tried so far. They have a lot of fruit based ones, and then some not so fruity ones like red velvet cake!" Take her arm, he motioned towards the door. "Shall we my knight?" He asked, eyes sparkling with mirth.
A smile all but permanently on her lips, Ren looped her arms in with Luka's and took in the sight of this 'Froyoland' place, noting all the gimmicks and oddities. "I hope I find something I like," she said, a hint of dubiousness seeping into her tone. "Oh yes, my damsel! Ladies first!" Revon gestured grandly with her free arm.
"I'm pretty sure that you will." He said with a smile. When the Aurora held the door open for him, the Satyr entered into the store and turned to give Ren a makeshift curtsey. "Thank you my good sir." Taking the other's hand, he grabbed several of the small sample cups off the counter and gave a few to Ren. "So, these cups are for samples. If you want to sample a flavor, just pull the handle and get the froyo in teh cup." Luka turned ot the machine in front of him labeled dulce de leche. Sliding the sample cup under the nozzle, he have the lever a light pull and watched as the cup filled up with a light brown frozen treat. "Here, try it!" He said as he passed the sample to Ren.
Ren was assaulted by the scent of sweetness as soon as the door opened and it made her nose crinkle somewhat in response. Although sweet wasn't bad, she tended to enjoy somewhat milder flavors like a panna cotta or creme brûlée. Taking the little cups he offered her, Ren took a moment to survey the options before Luka showed her something squidgy and brown. It could have tasted great, but the aurora shook her head politely at it. "Thanks. But I want to try the cheesecake," she said, gesturing at a white (safer) option that sounded promising.
Luka couldn't help but smile. "Whatever floats your boat Ren." Bringing the sample to his lips, the satyr eagerly tried out the sample. It was his first time trying out that particular flavor, and the satyr found it much sweeter than the other flavors he'd tried in the past. "That tastes the same as caramel." Tossing the used sample cup into the nearby trash can, he moved onto the next flavor titled coconut dream.
With the mention of caramel, Ren's jaw flexed a bit. Doucette had given her caramel once, much to her displeasure. It was sticky and hurt her teeth and had a flavor she was not at all fond of. Although the ice cream was obviously a different texture, she was glad she hadn't sampled it. The cheesecake on the other hand..."Luka! This one is the best!" She was sure of it.
The Satyr's eye twitched ever so gently as the sweet taste of coconut exploded in his mouth. This was exactly the kind of thing his guardian would love, sweet and coconut flavor. When Ren called his name, he floated over towards the handle labeled cheesecake. He gave the handle a tug. "I can't taste it." He said with an amused smile. "Maybe the coconut and caramel were too sweet?" Snickering, the Satyr reached for one of the larger paper cups on the counter. "Oh, when you find flavors you like, put them into this container and we can check out later."
Ren gave a little pout when Luka proclaimed being unable to taste the cheesecake flavor. It was light and un-invasive on her tongue. She loved the smooth, cold texture and was glad she didn't have to make a face whenever she put a bite in her mouth. Taking the larger cup, Revontulet let her eyes gaze about the flavor options once more, wanting to make absolute sure of her decision. After all, she'd only tried a single flavor!
"You don't have to decide now, I just thought I'd let you know before hand." He smiled and gave Ren a light pat on the head. His attention now turned towards the pistachio flavor on the wall. Drawing the handle, the Satyr's brow arched ever so gently. It was much better than the first two flavors he'd sampled. It was light, a little creamy and a little sweet while carrying a hint of saltiness. And, the froyo was the color of baby mint. "Ren, you should try this one."
The aurora had just about decided she wanted to go with the cheesecake after all when she heard her name on the satyr's lips. Moving over, she noted the name of the frozen yogurt with confusion. "Pistacheeo?" Ren had never seen a word like it, and didn't have the faintest idea of what it might be. The color appealed to her greatly though, and so she gave it a try. It took a moment, but finally a smile grew on her lips and she nodded. "This one is good."
"Have you had a pistachio before?" He asked, taking note of the Aurora's mild confusion. "It's a type of nut. It's green and very small, usually comes in a shell. I can bring you some next time." A smile came on teh Satyr's lips when he saw that Ren enjoyed the flavor. "I bet there are more light flavors like that."
"No..." Ren thought for a moment and then shook her head, sure that she'd never tried anything of that nature. Although she knew some raevens didn't eat, Doe sometimes offered her little things here and there. Her palette was not overly wide ranging - enough to know what she liked or didn't like, but not enough to know names and their potential for enjoyment. She found it hard to believe that a nut would taste like this though... "Do you think so?"
"Just keep in mind that it's sweeter than teh real thing since we are eating frozen yogurt." He smiled at her before moving onto the next handle labeled french vanilla. It was sweet, definitely sweeter than the cheese cake but not as overpowering as the coconut. He liked it. Vanilla had always been one of his favorite flavors and the fragrance was always pleasant. He slid his container under the nozzle and gave the handle a good long tug. "Have you had ice cream before?"
Revontuet touched her tongue to her lips for a moment, trying to remember if she'd had something similar before. "No, not that I remember. Is this like ice cream?" For a moment the girl looked between the pistachio and the cheesecake, but eventually she caved and went with the original flavor. Although she didn't technically have a gut, the moonstone often went with hers. "You seem to have experience eating many, things Luka."
"It's very similar. Ice cream is usually much richer than froyo. And there's also gelato which is also very sweet but made from fresh fruit." He said with a smile. When Ren made the comment of having tried many different foods, the Satyr smiled. "I may or may not have simply just put things in my mouth regardless of whether or not Elai approved." There were just some things in his personality that he couldn't curb and his desire to try new things happened to be one of them.
A somewhat unladylike snort escaped Ren at Luka's words and she shook her head at him instead of out-right laughing. "Luka, you silly thing." With her full cup of cheesecake in hand, Ren looked at the satyr expectantly, waiting for the next step of the fro-yo process.
When Ren snorted at his response, Luka joking stuck out his tongue at her. Taking his cup of french vanilla, he led her towards the wall of toppings on the back. There were over two dozens of toppings ranging from sliced fruit to mochi to chopped nuts. "Now you add any toppings that you want." He said, reaching for some mochi bits. "And, there's also caramel and chocolate syrup too." He gestured to the bottles but he had a feeling they wouldn't be too popular with Ren.
Ren wrinkled her nose back at the tongue. "That's not very lady like, missy," she teased, before following him over to the toppings. Although she took a good, long interest in a few things, the only topping she chose were a few raspberries that looked quite red and plump. Many of the items she had seen before, but possibly wouldn't have been able to name or guess to their flavor, and many others, like the mochi, she didn't have a clue about one way or the other. "Done," Ren said proudly of her less than exciting masterpiece.
"I'll be as unladylike as I want." Luka retorted. Taking the cup of cheesecake froyo from Ren, he placed it on the digital scale by the register along with his own cup as well. "Now, we pay." When the girl at the register finished ringing up their frozen treat, Luka paid for both. "Finally, we get to sit at a place of your choosing and enjoy." He said as he held out her cup for her. "It's all pretty straight forward."
