Zireno, having see the wall come down Shouted to the gate keeper to open the gate. The gate keeper did so and Zireno yelled "Charge!" before riding out to meet the enemy force. His paladins followed in perfect V formation. Drawing his sword Zireno quickly made his way to the front lines. His inspiration made the spearmen against the castle's siege gate charge with him.

Cyrith sensed a hint of worry in his mother's voice as she bid goodbye to his eldest brother. "Mother don't worry so much, Ric can take care of himself. Not much can get through those barriers of his," Cyrith lightly smiled in an attempt to lift his mother's mood.

User ImageJewlet looked at the wall as it came down. She watched Zireno as he screamed 'Charge'. She cheered them on as she slowly followed behind them. She stopped at the gate. Looking around, she tried to find a high place. She made her way up to the high place she had found to watch the battle. She really wasn't quite happy with battle she was about to see, but she must report back and tell how it went.

Grant watched as the wall was toppled from where he was atop the castle's towers he noticed that Jewlet had made her way up and smiled. "Hello lo... Jewlet. I'm glad you showed up." Grant looked out over the battle field and waited for the enemy to advance. "Ready the archer's" he said to a man next to him who proceeded to lift a red flag in the air. As he did a man on the opposite tower as well as a man on the castle siege gate lifted similar red flags. This was followed by all the archers on the walls and in the towers putting arrows on there bows and pointing them skyward. Grant mounted an arrow on his bow before looking back to Jewlet. "I hope you don't mind fighting from here. It certainly beats the tree now doesn't it?" He said before he took aim. That's when Grant heard something unexpected, the sound of hoofs galloping towards the enemy. "Hold this for a second." Grant said as he gave Jewlet the bow and arrow. Then he went to the edge of the tower and looked over. Seeing Zireno Grant became upset. "That fool is going to get himself killed!" He angrily barked to himself. "Doesn't he know if he attacks now he's going to get caught up in the arrow attack?" Slamming his fist on the wall Grant shouted "Damb it!!" before turning to his men. "Fire the arrows now before Zireno gets in the way. FIRE NOW!!!" He shouted in hast. The man with the flag quickly waved it and dropped the flag as every archer shot sending a massive wall of arrows at the enemy. Unfortunatly most of the enemy where out of range and therefore casualties where minimal at best.

User ImageJewlet Looked over at Grant and smiled lightly. "Hello Sir Grant." She looked back at the Forces ahead. She watched the archers as they ready themselves. "I do not mind. Yes it does." She said. She quickly turned her head as Grant handed her the bow and arrow. She frowned when she saw Zireno. She wished he would have listened to her, but that boy listened to no one. "He's sending his men to their graves." She said under her breath. Then she watched the arrows fly after Grant ordered the archers to fire. 'To far.' She thought as climbed up on to the stone wall that kept people from falling. She prepared to fire the arrow. She was a little unsteady at first, but she got her balance. Then she closed one eye and narrowed the other. Her dress fluttered in the wind and her braided hair whipped around behind her as she shot the arrow. She bit her lip as she used her power to add force to the shot. She smiled as it hit an enemy in the shoulder. "Dang. Not what I was aiming for." She frowned as she spoke.

Grog and Sylvan rushed back towards the castle when they saw the archers begin to fire into the sky. Grog was the one carrying Alexander as Sylvan made sure none of the enemy was following them. Whoever this Tou was, he must have been fighting too long; he seemed dead tired and his entire cloak smelt of dried blood and decay. Sylvan was doing her best to use what minor healing expertise she knew, using some kind of talisman to heal some minor wounds on Alexander as they both ran forward. Grog noticed Alexander open his eyes for a few moments, to look at the battle taking place.

Alexander couldn't believe what he saw when his eyes opened; he saw Zireno, charging with other men on horses towards the enemy. Out of all the people to take a stand and defend Dakrim head on, it was Zireno; the last person in the world Alexander would think to have such honor. It wasn't Grant or Dainne or the future King or anybody else, it was Prince Zireno. Alexander found a new respect for the second eldest Prince, more respect than he had for anyone he knew in Dakrim. Zireno displayed what a true Tou general would do; meet the enemy yourself in combat. Where was the future King in this mess? Sitting in his comfy castle while servants staked their lives to defend him, while his brother was out in the field risking his life. Zireno deserved to be King; his attitude was overshadowed by his honor in the battlefield. War was a evil, but true evil was hiding from a war that couldn't be stopped. Alexander didn't fall back asleep; he wanted to keep fighting, but he was exhausted and needed rest...

Grog grabbed onto Sylvan as the horsemen charged and he jumped an amazing distance over them using Levitation to decrease his weight drastically and using his strength to be able to lift both Sylvan and Alexander along with him. Grog didn't want to be found as an enemy by the Kingdom's horsemen, so he didn't stay too long in one spot once he had jumped over the cavalry; he kept running while carrying both Alexander and Sylvan with him. Sylvan complained for a few moments before realizing stopping was too risky.

The King was sleeping as Ric entered the chambers. Ordinarily, this would be of no surprise, as his father had been growing steadily weaker by the day, but in the midst of battle, Ric could not help but expect the father he had always known, stern and ready to charge out into battle, to do what he believed was right. "I am back Father. It would seem that the enemy has gotten closer, I am not sure how long we will be able to hold," RIc wanted so desperately for his father to take charge as he always would, but the man remained silent with the exception of shallow breaths, and his eyes closed, "I I am so sorry father, it would seem that I am not a worthy heir." still the man did not stir.

As Ric stared down upon his father's pale face, he could not help but wonder what the King would do in this situation, "Hm, you would probably be out there battling alongside Zireno wouldn't you?" A half laugh escaped Ric's throat as a revelation came to him, "So I suppose that is what I shall do as well." Slowly the prince stood up and turned away, "Sleep well Father, Hopefully, I shall return."

When the gates fell and the horsemen had begun their charge, Dainne sprinted as fast as his elven legs would carry him. Though his speed was unmatched by any normal human, the heavy cavalry still surpassed him, slowly overtaking him as they charged to intercept the enemy. As Dainne ran, he fired carefully aimed shots into the mass of enemies, taking care only to disable the enemy. He did not want to kill until the foes identity was confirmed, nor did he want to endanger any persons life needlessly.

As he continued to run, he saw Alexander being carried towards him by two other Tou. He sighed in frustration, knowing that this event would keep him from the battlefield even longer, thus prolonging the time it would take for him to verify the safety of Leon and Aiden. As the group came upon Dainne, he quickly turned around and matched their speed, looking concernedly at the apparently exhausted Tou. "Sir Alexander, I know not whether you can hear or even understand me, but I apologize for my delayed entry. It would seem that the royal family here does not trust me enough to protect them as best I may, and instead wanted to keep me under a watchful eye."

He turned deftly and fired into the mass behind him, trying desperately to give aid to the charging horsemen. He turned once again, sprinting along side the Tou. " I do not know who you two are, but do you need my assistance in assuring the well-being of Sir Alexander? I too have companions on the battlefield as we speak so I know the haste you must feel to make sure your kin is safe."

"And here I thought you a coward...Go on, fight well and prove to the fools you are an ally..."

Alexander wasn't surprised by the untrusting fools in the castle; Dirt Bloods were ever so cautious that they would risk the safety of their kingdom for the sake of not trusting someone. Dainne seemed just in Alexander’s eyes and therefore trustworthy. These two that had helped him were complete strangers and they came to help him when none of his true friends did. Dainne had an excuse to be late to the fight, but Alexander was sure Grant wouldn't have that luxury despite how much luxuries he was given like the rest of the higher class fools.

"These two seem to be friends I have not yet met...I've seen their skill; they can handle taking an old man back to the castle."

Alexander chuckled for a moment, but was ultimately too exhausted to put too much an effort into it.

Grog was a bit unbalanced as the purple haired Dirt Blood came to his side, but he was relaxed a bit when he learned that the Dirt Blood wanted to talk to the Elder he was escorting. Grog didn't know what to assess about the information he was getting from the two talking, but that wasn't important; this Elder needed to rest and be checked for wounds.

The Queen returned his smile. How blessed she was to have children like them. "Yes, you're right. I'm being silly." She said faintly, picking up one of the wooden chess pieces and looking at it in her hand. It resembled a horse. Her gesture didn't have much significance, but truly the Queen was pondering the battle and it's outcomes, in her mind, however, the most likely outcome was not a victory, nor a defeat.

Was that a grim thought? She didn't let it show on her face, and abruptly put the piece down and turned to Cyrith. "What have you been up to?"

Though he did not show it, Cyrith was slightly startled by his mother's suddenly interest in his life. It could only mean that something was seriously wrong, "OH, you know, same old, same old," the Prince answered meekly, not wishing to go into anymore detail with HIS MOTHER. Instead, he turned his attention to the pieces on the board, "So, I see Kitty enjoys his toys."

As Zireno charged the enemy he was leaped over by something he couldn't make out. He didn't bother to see what it was because his men would have his back. At least they better if they knew what was good for them. As the arrows fell Zi was forced to stop his forces or suffer an unsettling fate but once the arrows had fallen he continued on his attack. "That fool of a captain doesn't know when to charge and when to defend." Though he was outnumbered Zireno had confidence in his men and he was expecting a long bloody battle. As he reached the enemy Zi hacked through a few of them something he didn't expect happened. With the wall burned to the ground the enemy cavalry turned tail and started to retreat. Zireno smirked as he let out a battle cry and gave case. the spearmen were unable to keep up but Zireno and his palidins continued attacking and took out about twenty of them. One of which had an unusual banner on his back.

User ImageJewlet felt her gut cringe. That wasn't a good sign for her. She carefully watch Zi and his men. Her eyes narrowed as she saw the enemy retreating. This confused her, were those men just a distraction like with the dinner or have a much stronger force arrived or was that were actual just retreating. What ever it was, she would have to be ready for it. "Way to easy. Sir Grant, I fear they be something, we may not see, is coming." She still stood on the wall with just the bow in her hand.

As Zireno and his paladins forward their attack, they took down many of the fleeing soldiers. On the blood stained grass laid the banner of the, now retreating, army. On the banner was a picture of this symbol on it.

Still by the gates, Niro looked around at the taller Knights. Though to him size didn't matter, it was just a bit awkward. He turn to the commander, "Um sir. With all do respect, shouldn't we be out there with our prince?" The Commander didn't even turn to him as he gave a deep hump. "Young lad, you need much to learn about the art of war. Tell me, did you or did you not say that Captain Grant wants us to move at the orange flag?" Niro slumped a bit. Though this was true, the only flag they've seen was red. Nevertheless, he was sick of standing still. "Yeah, but...", "What on earth?!" A wave of commotion swapped through the crowd of men. They all seem to be looking over at the hill. To Niro's surprise, the troops began to retreat as soon as the wall was down. This...this isn't right.....why would they leave the battle like that. Something's not right.

When Alexander had assured Dainne that he was safe with the other Tou, Dainne had wasted no time in returning to the battle field. Though the battle was fierce, it seemed to Dainne that the force did not seem to be fully focused on the fight itself. He weaved in and out of the other combatants, dealing disabling blows to his enemies, taking care not to kill any. of course, he had no control over their blood loss and realized that many might still persih from it. If for nothing else, he thought survivors could be questioned by the royal family once the battle was over.

Almost as quickly as the fighting had begun, the enemy turned at once and began to retreat. Dainne made no effort to attack, instead seeking Leon and Aiden through the thinning numbers. After a moments search, he found them together, leaning against each other wearily. Both their garments were torn to tatters, seeming to barely cling to their frames. In places blood could be seen running freely where a blade had not been dodged in time. Prone forms lay all around them, whether they were unconscious or not wasn't yet known.

Smiling, Dainne walked over to them and clapped them both on the shoulder. They both smiled wearily and surveyed the emptying battlefield. Ahead of them the group could see Prince Zireno looking at something on the ground. As the group approached, Dainne stepped forward and raised a hand to the uncouth Prince. "It would seem the day is yours Prince, however strange the circumstances. Clearly this wasn't an invasion force, or the casualties would have been much higher." Dainne reached the prince's side and looked down at the ground. Among the blood-stained grass lay a banner, most likely of the enemy. As Dainne scrutinized the flag, his eyes widened in shock. Stepping back he let out a small gasp of surprise, unable to contain his shock. Though the banner itself was not familiar, the green gem was. He quickly grasped his sword and looked at the pommel, staring at the gem that rested there. There is no mistake. They are the same. What could this mean though? I do not recognize the banner or any of these men! It is not of Merional. It cannot be.

Leon and Aiden stepped forward and glanced at the banner for themselves. Slowly, a look of surprise spread to their usually stolid faces and Leon quickly turned to Dainne. "Your Highness, that means nothing! It is merely a coincidence, nothing more. Aiden nodded his head vigorously in agreeance.
