Leader Brock
With Brionne occupied with their last attack, Brock took the time to have Onix sent out another barrage of rocks. This was their last attack, Onix had sustained quite a bit of damage, all parties involved were aware of this, and yet Brock still grit his teeth when his pokemon was felled. With some quick action on his part, he managed to return the giant before he could collapse and he took a breath before sending out Geodude next.

Onix got one last hit in, but they all knew he didn't have much left in him. Brionne was just too much for the Rock-type. Leader Brock
Brock couldn't help the smile on his face as he watched Alejandro interact with his pokemon, it was always a privilege to see a team getting along and bonding. He couldn't get distracted, however, after all his top priority, as a gym leader, was to ensure that he gave his opponents a challenge. "Brace yourself!" Brock warned, right before Aqua attacked. Geodude, with a gruff nod, and dug both fists into the ground. Though fast, the move wasn't enough to break through the pokemon's rocky exterior and he easily shook it off. "Now, counter with Magnitude!" Brock hunkered down to the ground, unwilling to lose his footing to his own pokemon's attack, and flashed a smile to both Aqua and Alejandro as the gym floor began to shake.

That was a pretty decent Magnitude. Alejandro and the little Vaporeon struggled to stay on their feet, though she didn't really do a very good job. He was worried for a second that maybe it had knocked her out, but Aqua eased her way back to her feet and that was that."Yeah, baby! That badge is as good as ours! Go ahead and use Water Pulse!"That was a serious overkill, but he used rare candies to get that move; he was going to use it whether it was a nice thing to do or not. Aqua must have been feeling pretty good about herself because she didn't hesitate that time, instead forming the blue sphere at her mouth and rocketing it towards the armed rock."Yes! And just like that, the battle was over. It was never a pretty sight to see your pokemon faint, and it certainly didn't leave one with the warm and fuzzies, but as a gym leader Brock had come to terms with this, as had his pokemon. After every defeat, he always made sure to heal up his team and reward them for a job well done, just like he'd have to do for Alejandro. "Congratulations!" Brock remarked, returning Geodude to his ball, and crossed over the battle field to shake the blunette's hand. "You and your team did an excellent job, and it's clear to see how much you trust each other." That was a crucial part of any relationship. "For a job well done, I present to you Pewter City's very own Boulder badge, as well as one of my favorite TM's," he explained each item as he handed them over. "Rock Tomb is the move my Onix used, and it's great for slowing down a speedy opponent." Once he'd handed over Alejandro's items, the gym leader shook his hand one more time, smiled, and then left the male and his pokemon to heal up his team.

Alejandro had to take a few breaths as Brock walked over to him to come down from his triumph-induced ego boost long enough to actually accept the badge....And, return Aqua to her ball because she definitely deserved the rest. For added measure, he returned Reina, too, figuring it was about time she spent some time in hers like the others were. Brock shook his hand, congratulating him on the win and giving him not only the badge, but also a TM. Alejandro wondered if any of his team could learn Rock Tomb. He'd have to check. Right after he visited the Pokemon Center to get Aqua and Brionne treated for their wounds."Should also make sure Aqua's actually doing okay mentally. Must've been tough of the poor girl."

As amusing as it was to listen to Alejandro go on about how easily he'd beat her, Azalea had other matters to attend to. Unfortunately, the blue haired cat and (in Azalea's opinion) secretly dog lover was right about one thing. She'd whoop his a** in a fight for sure, poison him with her spray paint too, but he had her beat in a pokemon battle even if she was using her usual team. Technically he did beat her too, Azalea just didn't care to waste time and see it through to the end for the same result. She probably should train, and as much as she abhorred the idea of actually putting effort into training her pokemon, she probably should train some of her new acquisitions for the sake of being useful to Void.
That opportunity came when she noticed William trying to fight off some fossil pokemon, and unintentionally got involved in the fight when a shieldon attacked. After Iris took care of it, Azalea took Rafflesia's ball to help out too. Surely a grass type could handle a few fossils right? "Alright Raf, time to--" Azalea glanced at her pokemon curiously as the once-bulbasaur's bulb bloomed into a small pink flower, her leaves unfurling as she stretched. "Hey. When did that happen?" She asked, not that she expected a real answer from the ivysaur. Rafflesia simply looked really tired, and unfortunately she always looked that way such that Azalea didn't even suspect that the grass type had caught pokerus and was now just getting over the effects.
Well regardless, evolution meant progress towards getting stronger, right? If Raf had evolved then maybe she didn't need as much training as Azalea thought. Maybe she could train some of her other pokemon then, like Lavender since she certainly needed it. Returning Hemlock and Hyacinth, Azalea sent out the ghost type instead and approached William. "Heya nerd. You havin' trouble with these fossils? I'll tell ya what. We'll be real generous like and help ya out, but on one condition." Azalea pointed to Alejandro as he emerged from the pokemon center and was now interacting with a Brionne. "You gotta convince that man that dog pokemon are superior to cat pokemon. You got it?" She insisted. Azalea would not allow William to have a choice in this matter since already, she was having Lavender attack a cranidos that came charging in such that William would be obligated and bound by this weird contract. Azalea was not letting this dog vs cat thing go. Not because she actually had any real investment, but because she felt like bothering the hell out of this poor man and boy. She didn't even really have a reason for picking on him, but Azalea was like a vampire, picking a random target and draining the life from them with her relentless shenanigans until she grew bored.

William blinked as a stranger addressed him. He turned his head around, expecting to see there's someone else beside him and found none. "Me?" he asked rather unsure. The guy looked like trouble with those combination of those baggy clothes and mask. The expression of his face though, that's what win the guy a delinquent label. "wait! wait a minute!" He waved his hand frantically as he registered the stranger's one sided decision and almost wanted to winced back as he was definitely being forced to agree by the tone directed to him. Sigh. William clamped down as he wised up, deciding would be better if he just comply. Years after dealing with bully told him resisting would simply worsen the situation. "Fine," he grudgingly agreed even if he knew it was a bad idea. He would deal with it when it happens. He wasn't giving up by any means, he's waiting for better chance. "Let me return some of my pokemon first," he replied and he didn't wait for consent to go ahead and do so. It might be odd to return his pokemon when there's a threat here, but William thought it was better to have fewer pokemon he could concentrate on rather than more pokemon that he couldn't manage.

William fiddled with his hands as he averted his eyes away. "Your friend here, uh, asked me to talk to you," he hurried explained. He wanted to dig a hole and hide in it. "Dog pokemon is great, aren't they? I mean, they are known to be man's best friend. Not that I own any, still, it is pretty common for people to have one as pet," and so it begun. "Wouldn't you say they are better than cat?" there he said it, now he can leave.

Alejandro wasn't expecting to see the lady punk again, let alone see her with someone else that looked too uncomfortable to be a friend of hers. If his greeting wasn't enough of a hint, the way his hands played with each other was while he avoided eye contact was. He was about to walk away and avoid whatever it was she'd roped the poor guy into when the kid started on the same little dog versus cat thing she'd started earlier.
He didn't do anything except stare blankly at the other male for a few moments before rubbing his ear to distract himself. He kept in mind that he'd just won his first badge and his parents were definitely still in Pewter to avoid throwing punches at the chick. It wasn't really that he was annoyed with the opinionated fight; he was more annoyed that she thought it was fun to bug him and even dragged some poor unfortunate soul into it. Instead, he just sucked in air through his teeth before pointing to Azalea."You're kind of cute and I'm in a good mood right now, so let me share some advise. That there's called a woman. Azalea remained looming somewhat in the background, watching as William approached Alejandro but still close enough to listen in without being obvious about it as she had her pokemon battle. William was so confused and nervous, it was priceless, but Alejandro simply took it in stride. Boo. Azalea expected more of a reaction, but then again maybe using an unwilling and skittish boy like William made it less convincing. Probably didn't help that she was pointed out right away, that hadn't been part of her plan. Then again, this entire endeavor was halfassed anyways, like most of the things Azalea did in her free time. She was just far too lazy to put in any real effort. It was actually a minor miracle she'd spent this much time on the prospect in the first place.
Once Alejandro called her out though, Azalea supposed she had no choice but to intervene. "I'm shocked and appalled. My offer? Not worth the trouble? Lies and slander." Azalea shot the actor a lazy grin, not that it was well visible in the turtleneck of her jacket and the gasmask covering her lower face. "For all you know, I could have offered him the chance at friendship with you."
In the end, of course, a chance at friendship with the actor had not at all been what Azalea offered, but that didn't matter to her as long as he saw her point that it could have been. She was also, mildly surprised that she hadn't baited him enough to start throwing punches at her. Though, by the looks he was giving her, he certainly wanted to. Was this that stupid "real men don't hit girls" BS again? Surely something else was forcing him to hold back, and so naturally, Azalea would milk it for all it was worth.
"Given your obsession, I'd think you'd jump at the chance to argue how cats are superior, and lead to rousing discussion where friendship would eventually bloom. If you think your own friendship isn't worth the trouble, then I'd say that's a personal problem worse than an unhealthy addiction to cats." She tsked and shook her head. On the one hand, Azalea was aware she was intentionally blowing his potential fondness of cats out of proportion in order to make him look silly and trivial. On the other hand, in the box of useless facts which filled Azalea's mind, she vaguely recalled that such methods of argument were a logical fallacy of some kind. Reductio ad absurdum? Or was it ab absurdo? Well it didn't matter. Her latin knowledge mainly derived from species classification of plantae anyways. Heh.
William was glad that the man wasn't mad at him, well, more like he did a good job restraining himself and he caught on Azalea's ploy. His advice on the other hand wasn't something he was sure of. Sometimes it was better to just go along rather than argue, pissed them off and still get dragged along anyway. William didn't say that out loud, he simply nodded. It didn't seem safe to say anything and offend either of them or both.
He was pretty sure they forgot he was there when the two got into back and forth banter. He was feeling that he should just walk away while the two of them were distracted. His ivysaur was looking at him for what to do, while Amber seemed confused by the scene. Their argument though, Azalea was trying to get the man a friend? over a debate? then she surely picked a wrong person in him. He was giving her incredulous stare as that clearly wasn't her intention. No, Azalea was toying with them are more like it with her nonsensical words, but as it went on they sounded like, "Aren't both of you friends already?" what was happening in front of him was exactly as Azalea has said will happen. The two were somehow getting acquainted.
William clapped both of his hands to his mouth as he realized he said that out loud. "I mean to say," he nervously suggested, "I am leaving?"

Azalea's lips tried to tug into an amused smile as Alejandro suggested William looked too frightened of him to try and be friends. It was true, the boy looked practically sickly, or maybe that was just his normal appearance? Regardless, Alejandro had a point when he mentioned that William appeared the type that needed someone to keep him out of trouble. Not that William came across as the type to get into trouble so much as the poor victim of trouble itself. Trouble like Azalea.
William seemed confused, given how easily he'd believed Azalea's li that she and Alejandro were friends, a lie that the teal haired male quickly corrected. "Oh stop it, you flatterer." Azalea brought a hand to her mouth, looking as if she were mildly sheepish and giddy by Ale's "compliments" of her going out of her way to annoy him. Nevertheless, he seemed to latch on to the idea of getting to know William better, asking for the boy's name.
Azalea's communicator rang loudly and she stepped away to answer, leaving the two to their friendship in the making. "Yo.""Eyyyyyyy Az.""Wazzzzaaaaaaaaap." She recognized the lazy voice on the other line almost immediately. "Your couch misses ya. Also I ate your chips. Sorry not sorry.""Dammit Sammy, we talked about this. How dare. Those were mine you ball of garbage. They were working on a year old. Had that nice stale texture to them." She didn't actually appear too upset about it. "Heh, yeah, they were pretty tasteless. Stale to perfection, best served on your couch. You really missed out, but you know da rules. You leave it, I eat it.""Yeah yeah. Our not-quite-human garbage disposal. You better replace them, you turd nugget. I want my stale chips pronto, and get the ******** off of my baby, you don't deserve her. She's the best seat in the house reserved only for me. It's bad enough with Gray hogging her. I fought him and I'll fight you too. She's mine.""Nah. I'm comfortable, and I ain't replacing nothin'. Besides, you've got bigger chips to fry; I heard some numbskulls were tryin' to stake a claim on your territory. They even painted over your tags." Azalea came to a full stop. Her casual careless attitude was gone as she stared ahead. ".....What?""You heard me. I'm only keepin' your seat warm for you. Preserving the grease, that stuff, but hey, if you wanna come fight me instead of taking out some bozo's doing the real crimes then...." He trailed off with an audible shrug.
Painting over someone else's tag was the ultimate insult and those idiots knew it. Clearly she'd been away from Alola for far too long. "A'ight. I'll forgive ya this once for keepin' my girl company, and for the tip off, even though ya ate my ******** chips. Thanks. See ya soon." She hung up, a dead serious look in her eye as she stormed off back towards Pallet, since it was the nearest Port town.
