The young woman was always caught off guard by Kya's intensity, her eyes burned with a flame that assured her-- no, her friend had not been tamed. It created a warmness in her heart, Kya was still in there... Village life tended to breed this false sense of security, this safety blanket. She had been lulled by it in Sungakure, she had thought them untouchable when no one was untouchable. Not Nari, not Kya, not even Bastet... The vortex agent took Sonyo's hand, staring at it as if it could tell her her whole life story. Maybe it could.
How could someone be so intense yet so gentle?
Sonyo felt goosebumps raise on her arm, and she tried her best to ignore the feeling. "What is troubling me, huh?" She mumbled lightly, then fell back on Kya's inquiry. "No, Shu's being good. I... think I've changed him as much as he's changed me. He's definitely not the same monster he was when he was sealed in to me all those years ago. Maybe I've calmed him..." The thought was strange, to think her temperment was strong enough to reign in the bloodlust of the Ichibi, but maybe it was. She had always been so stuck in her ways.
But what was wrong with her?
She had probably asked herself that question so many times in the past, what was wrong with Sonyo today? Was it the crippling guilt? The insecurity? The shame? Sonyo absently ground her teeth together, thinking back to Kya's words. Had she really always been so disquiet, had she always done this to herself? Perhaps her suffering wasn't something as big and unstoppable as fate or karma, maybe... it was just her. Tension built up in her body, that same intense anger at herself, for her shortcomings, for not being better-- but then it faded away in Kya's presence.
"You've always been so calm, Kya. You calm this brambly mess up in my skull that I call my brain... you and Nari were always so good at that." She let out a soft breath, closing her eyes. "I keep... dragging around everything. Like it's my personal burden to shoulder when it's not. Things happen and life isn't perfect but I can't... let it go. I torture myself with these thoughts of "what if's" and memories of what was. No one should live like that, yet some part of me forces myself back to it. I... care so much. About everything, about everyone; I just want things to be okay. But that's not sustainable, is it?"
Images flashed in her head of all her past homes, all of which had fallen. She could see their ghosts in her mind. Her eyes closed tighter as a look akin to physical pain warped her delicate features. Without thinking, she was moving; closer to Kya, wrapping her arms tightly around her, wanting to be so desperately drowned by her calming aura. Pained features became buried in to the mess of elaborate fabrics, traditional tattoos, and sun-kissed skin that made up Kya's shoulder. "I need to find her, the Mother, my mother-- Mother Nature. I need her to tell me why they won't leave me, why do they keep haunting my thoughts like specters that can't pass on? I try to forget, I try to move on, I try to make peace... but they are there, always there..." Pale hands gripped at Kya's robes like a lifeline. She just wanted quiet, there were always too many voices shouting in her head.

αKya was still in her own head, not even consciously, when Sonyo spoke again. Admiring how soft a person could be, how gentle even though the world had given her NOTHING but reasons not to be. She had lost her husband, a village and so many friends. But she was still the same serene grace she had been when Kya had first laid eyes upon her. It was almost the same as when she had watched Sanae standing tall over her broken form, imparting in her a sense of purpose and reinstating her self esteem. Somehow, without having to suplex her, or drop a turtle, Sonyo could provide her with comfort. She so wished she could do the same, and had no idea she already was.
"Im far from surprised. The first time we met, way back, and you spoke over me it had a profound effect. As strong as it is, nothing can remain unchanged by you," she spoke. In another time Kya would have immediately invaded her personal space and looked Shu in his eyes, unfettered and daring him to make a move. Now? Not even needed. Now instead, Kya was surprised to find Sonyo gritting her teeth.
Damn that sound was annoying as hell, Na'chal did that SO much.
"You may be the only person I know that says I'm calming. Everyone else knows me too well," she joked adjusting to face her as she went on. Far from able to read minds was Nakya, but she knew pain when she gazed upon it. The deepest, darkest recesses of her mind flooded forth, and Kya was perfectly equipped to handle that, but what caused her pause was the sudden embrace. She mvoed close and Kya, whom hadn't really embraced someone since she stole Sanae's first kiss, closed her arms around the girl.
Who the hell had she become that she enjoyed embraces and other such... frivolous and weak things? Obviously... herself. She held her close, tight, releasing enough of her own pain into the ether as well. "The mother. Huh. That's what we call Nagakaborous when we need her to be soft. She never is though." A single hand stroked her hair, face buried in the girl's cheek and neck as well. Her other arm pulled her around the ribs closer. "But she hears us. She knows we have pain. And she expects us to move anyway. It's little comfort, but you must let the past go, my child of the Evergreen. You cannot carry burdens that slow you down. Give them to me. Let me hold onto the pain and darkness that clouds your path." Her had pressed into the back of her neck, eyes snapping upwards as the deep sea green took over, out of Sonyo's sight. A blessing bestowed. "You are the purity and fury of Mother Nature itself, and I will see you uninhibited my love. If anyone deserves to know the truth it is you," she spoke, calming the storm threatening her core, coming back down just to hold her. To be what she needed in that moment.
And because as much as she was here for everyone else, she needed this too. She needed Sonyo.
"Sorry. Hard habit to break..." she whispered. The braziers began to die down, illumination now a faint glow betwixt them.
Damn it really was getting hot.

"Kya?"She borked, knowing the was a busy human, but not knowing how long that bork would carry. Good lord, she thought as her own word bounced back at her, making her cringe. Probably interrupting, but she knew two people here, even though more knew of her, and she was gonna say goodbyes to those people. Kaoru had done heckin missions with Kya after all. Doggo would walk in a circle and sit where she was, a ways away from wherever Kya was entertaining Sonyo, and wait patiently for her turn before hse bounced.

My Love, was that Nagakaborous speaking or Kya? Sonyo could never tell the difference between the two, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to right now. She might be disappointed in the answer... For once she let the anxious thoughts melt away, they were nothing compared to the arms wrapped around her and the warmth of Kya's face against her cheek and neck. It had been so long since she had been close to another person like this... not since Nari.
Five long damn, lonely years.
Hands through her hair brought shivers down her spine, chancing away the warning bells in her head of fear. She didn't want to think, she didn't want to be scared... Not of Kya, not her. Kya whispered about habits and Sonyo finally pulled her face from it's buried position in Kya's shoulder, cheek against cheek with the woman now. Her eyes were mostly closed, only hazel slivers made a mocha color in the dim light. "Yeah... but I wouldn't have you any other way..." Her wonderful Kya, her shinigami. She felt an old, familiar hear return to her face-- a flush that would run to her collarbone. Kya was so close, so inviting... "Wonderful and intense and calm all at once... dangerously and sharply beautiful..." A slight movement was all it took to bring her lips closer to Kya's, so excitingly close...
"Kya?" A familiar, doggo, voice broke through whatever trance she had put herself in to. The tension she didn't even realize was building up in her body deflated away, almost defeated, and Sonyo let out a long sigh as she rested her head back on to Kya's shoulder. A half smile graced her lips, her iron grip on the woman's robes loosening. "Work never ends, huh?"

αAll manner of the teacher and priest she was melted away fairly quickly, everytime she felt Sonyo's chest rise and fall with breath. Kya never knew things like fear or apprehension in truth. Her teacher had beat such frivolities out of her in adolescence. She knew only how to forge forward, and that tended to pervade all of her thoughts. Even now, as Sonyo affirmed that she wouldn't have her any other way... well Kya immediately imagined a few ways the woman could have her. As she continued to... to whisper her praises, Kya was stone still, a smile playing at her lips, eyes focusing deep and intent on the soft, pale skin of her Child of Nature. She always smelled so wonderful, carried herself with an elegance that was impossible to ignore, much less deny. Impossible not to fall for... to fall into.
And then the moment was snatched away. Her name, man did she hate her name sometimes. It was so worn out on the tongues of the many who demanded her attention on a regular basis. She flared her nostrils and turned to look, trying her best not to look like she was contemplating eating her, but it melted into a genuine loving smile. Deep was her love for that damned Shiba.
But Sonyo deserved this moment. She took the girl by her chin, lifting her head and staring into those eyes again. "No. It never does," and in that moment she released half a decade of pressure and tension, closing her lips passionately into her Sonyo at last. The earth couldve shattered, and in that moment Kya would have allowed it. Tides could have claimed all the lands, the sky couldve fallen, hell she could have simply blown up and this would have been her most fulfilling moment. Hands cradled her face, sliding down over silken shoulders, grasping the midriff to pull her close, domineering as always and in everything. And all at once she would disconnect, sharp as a hawk in her gaze, snakelike even in her grin. A hand caressed the cheek of Sonyo. "Don't go far."
And then she turned on her chair, disconnecting for now and moving to Kaoru, resting on the balls of her feet, lowering to give her rubs to the Shiba. "Kaoru! My goodness, you've gotten so big," she spoke ensuring to give her scritches just behind the ears, and under the chin. "Come to say goodbye?"

Kya knew Kaoru enjoyed her some rubs, leaning her head into the priestess's hand to soak up them heckin scritches. Her eyes closed and her tail wagged, mouth open with tongue lolled to the side. Sonyo was here too, which meant she could double up on some lovin'... if she could spare the time. Right now though, there was business to attend to. Kaoru sat down before Kya, doing the closest approximation to clearing her throat as a dog could, which was more of a raspy cough than anything."Her was, but her am going stay woof Kya. Wanzaki want some one with hims, but him won't ask Kya cause he boy and dumb."As if to punctuate how icky it was, Kaoru stuck the tip of her tongue out during her pause to let Kya speak before she carried on."Am need strong, but no bother Wanzaki. Want Kya train her."
Without some sort of warning her hair seemed to shiver over her whole body, and over the course of a few blinks it crawled to the top of her head, while the rest of her body shifted and grew and metamorphosed into that of a young, dog-eared woman with long hair, lithe frame, shockingly vibrant sapphire orbs, and bushy curled tail, sitting on the balls of her feet just like Kya had been. Thankfully she was clothed, if one could call it that, but her kind didn't have such modest notions when most spent their lives as animals. It had been much the same way for her over the past seven years. It was no mere henge that released, but an actual transformation, one that she knew her partner was ignorant of, yet assumed everyone else in his life knew.
"If you're not too busy."Junko put her hands on her knees and stood, looking down for Kya's response, yet suddenly distracted by her own appearance, looking down at her feet and over her shoulder to her tail, inspecting her long strands and tugging on one of her ears."Lot more going on everywhere, huh? Kinda thought I'd be taller... Still!"Placing her hands on her back she stretched as far as her balance would allow, then started a series of quick standing bicep and quad stretches, as if all of this was completely normal. It was par for the course for Kanzaki not to notice the little things, but Kya and Sonyo seemed like they were... surprised, even? Speaking of, she leaned above Kya and waved to Sonyo, her tone apologetic."Sorry for intruding, honest. I know I'm being rude... I can come back later?"

Kya lifted her chin, and she didn't resist when she did. This woman drove her crazy... And then her lips were on hers, her body crushed against her with enough tension to snap steel beams. Her body returned the tension, years upon years of no physical contact. She gripped tightly at Kya's robes again, losing herself in this fantastic woman. Then it was over all too soon, and Kya was pulling away again, telling her not to go to far. The words sent a shiver through her, managing to darken the flush already on her face.
Sonyo sat in place as Kya moved to greet the goodest girl, trying to calm the heart in her chest that was beating faster than she had felt it beat in a very long time. Her body trembled softly, one hand gripping at the shirt over her chest. She faintly heard Kaoru and Kya talking behind her, but she couldn't focus on the words. IT took some time, and a lot of deep breathing, but the Evergreen follower managed to calm down enough to look back at Kaoru....
Who looked humanoid now?
Sonyo's eyes got wide, and she blinked a few times in sheer confusion. There were two women with a lot of skin showing in the same room as her, and one of them was a dog. What was going on? Did she die? Did the world implode and she was in a comatose state? Sonyo stuttered a few times before finally being able to express the words in her head.
"Kaoru, how in the hell are you a person now?"

αIt was starting to show that Kya had seen way too much weird s**t in her life. A talking dog? Sure that much was common enough, and she frequently claimed to speak on God's behalf so how could she call a talking dog weird. At the day's end, she had her duty and to carry it out meant that all manner of nonsense. And on that note, she could summon giant talking snakes. Fine.
Never had she watched one of these talking animals quite literally morph into the shape of a human, kneeling before her and speaking. Kya didn't even flinch at the sight, she simply looked to meet her old friend's eyes. "What in god's name did I step into today." Her smile held fast, and she reached to run a hand along the head and ears of... Kaoru? But she got up before she could, and Kya followed to her feet. Her eyes became black, somewhat dull circles and she winced slightly as she always did when deactivating the Sharinwan - Sharingan dammit. "Yeah actually, what the ******** Kaoru. How did you... do the. What the ********> she almost laughed.

Junko's apologetic hand lowered a bit as her posture slouched. Sonyo was one thing, since they had rarely spoken, but Kya too?She was really starting to question who the smartest human she knew was. Temporary dampener to her spirits registered, she did have another opportunity she'd been waiting ages to do, and that was finally do one of his ridiculous entrances he came up as a sage instead of just introducing himself. She turned her back to both women, shaking her hands out and rolling her shoulders a few times, whispering to herself. "Listen up, you pups. Open your eyes with wonder and hope."She spun about and landed on one foot, bouncing to the side with her arms held wide."Be shown something beautiful as you plead for mercy, taken by the heiress of the Son'nani! Blood pact partner to the sage chosen by blood and paw."She stomped her hanging foot, rolling her neck to whip her auburn mane around once, striking the final part of the pose."Be at once in awe of the grace of Junko Hikigane!"She had to stop herself from laughing, her cheeks twitching for two seconds before she fell over, bawling, holding her sides. She'd waiting four years to do that, and now she'd beaten Kanzaki to it."You don't know how long I've wanted to do that. Oh my gosh I need a minute."By design she was not giving either Kya or Sonyo any sort of straight answer, just enjoying giving her human limbs a stretch. She'd peter out after a minute, rolling to sit with crossed legs on the floor, knuckles on her knees."I'm sorry. Sonyo blinked blankly at the doggo-girl for a second, trying to comprehend what had just happened. Was she just insulted by a dog? When was the last time she had actually be insulted? Sonyo's face turned downwards as she tried to think about what to say back, she was fairly bamboozled. What did this mean for her life? What was she to do from this point?
Thank god she didn't have to think on it too hard, because an explosion echoed emptily through the temple, causing Sonyo to immediately look in Kya's direction. There was another attack on the village? Already? What the hell was going on? Why was Uzu being attacked more often than Suna was during it's Anti-UHV height? The jinchuriki's lip hardened in to a hard line.... "Kya, it seems things are imploding again. Will you be joining this time? It's been a while since we've fought together."

She could only smile, since as Truth Bearer hers was to teach, and everyone else's was to learn. The will of fire was indeed strong, from Kanzaki to Kya, then down to Kaoru-Junko. "Then let us go now." was all she spoke, both to Junko and to the Evergreen's Child. That would have been that, but another agent arrived, hailing Kya and giving her a missive from Chie. This was CERTAINLY going to prove to be quite the interesting day. "Alright Junko. Time to look menacing and watch how the wheels of the world turn." She would wink, before pulling up the mask of hers, which only covered the bottom of her face, and snapped her fingers. In a flash of light, her hair would be tumbling down her back tied up into a single, ashen white braid. When she moved, it was with purpose and speed.

αOnce more an entourage approached the temple, this time Kya, Nava, Belamos and several of her more mundane agents all at once approached, with Belamos in the center. "Wha-a-gwan," she called out as the doors opened and the eldest of her younger siblings appeared in the doorway, his eyes focused on their prisoner. She shrugged as he motioned his head at him. "Not something to worry about," she answered the unspoken question. They passed the huge bronze doors into the building, escaping the jungle they had trekked through, and finding a much warmer still building inside. Belamos would feel at home in the high temperatures, more likely than not. The foyer was not so impressive, but the inside of the largest building was anything but standard for a headquarters. Bronze snake heads and tentacles adorned everything from doorways to heraldry, and all around serpent callers and heirophants spoke hymns under their breath, or read reports and divvy'd out the work to the underling agents.
It was confusing to the guests from the soudn village that the temple was also where the VORTEX made it's base, but all of the dark skinned foreigners and people from Konoha and Suna who had made this place their home when they moved in five years passed had found it to be a welcome change of pace. Kya, the Truth Bearer of Nagakaborous and Vortex Operative leader formed a Two Headed leader of both forces and had intertwined them without a beat missed. "Welcome to Buhru," Nava spoke, sarcasm hidden in the double meaning for Kya who merely glanced at her with irritation in her voice.
"Right this way, Belamos," she said in a voice that silenced onlookers. He was led to the same room where she had sat in judgement of Shinsei, Taylor and Falsa before, having him stand before great golden stairs leading high up to a plateau where she knew the great Naka Shrine now sat, and somewhere along the way there was a landing where she typically would sit. Instead she simply stood, almost a head and a half shorter than him, and with a deft motion she saw his hand unbound by the shuriken she had held. She motioned for him to follow and made a few movements with her hand. "If Chie is spotted in the forest, alert me immediately."
With that, she would move to the point, halfway up the 700 steps where two seats awaited, along side a table with the instruments for tattooing in place waiting for use. "Chie is in a position of unimaginable stress, and it's clear she is worried. Forgive her for her rough treatment. And me for mine," she spoke setting down her mask.
