Michi (Dressed as a butterfly) Michiko was struck nervous when Toby spoke to her, she didn't want to be rude, but she didn't really consider she would have to talk to others. Michi was better at talking to her plants rather than talking to other people. She looked shyly down at her feet and then back up at Toby. Softly Michi said "I was thinking the same thing just a moment ago, umm I'm Michiko, but you can call me Michi." She looked up at Toby and then asked softly "Umm do you like plants too?" She looked at his costume she liked it. Michi liked anime a fair amount not as much as she liked gardening though.

Daniel McKay (dressed up as a renaissance prince, complete with golden crown and a fake sword because who doesn't want to carry around a fake sword lbr)
"Sure!!"
There was so much to take in, it was hard for Danny to focus on one particular thing without something else catching his eye. The costumes kept distracting him, the array of snacks kept calling to him and the plant life around them was downright fascinating. He didn't consider himself much for flowers, generally speaking, but even he could appreciate the beautiful botany for what it was.
Green eyes found themselves settling on the snack bar once more and he paused.
"Lemme just grab us some drinks first," came the offer, the large punch bowl proving too tempting to resist. He hadn't even realized how parched he was until he'd noticed it, so the prince-for-the-evening made a beeline towards the buffet line, wedging his way in between a witch and a mummy to get to the drink station. Two glasses were snatched from the pile and the ladle was dunked - soon he was back on his way, each hand occupied with a cup of --
“Hey!!”
Danny heard the voice before he felt the sudden jerk on his foot. The front of his boot was tangled in something and he had enough time to let out a startled yelp before he flew forward, thrown off balance. The drinks were the first to make impact, the small plastic cups cracking as the punch went flying. His fancy vest and shirt were immediately soaked as his torso and head connected to the ground shortly after the drinks, the young man letting out a pained grunt as a result.
“Dude, you screwed up my costume!”
Dazed, it took Danny a moment to collect his thoughts, turning just in time to see a furious mummy gesturing angrily down at his unwrapped leg...which was connected to the gauze now wrapped around the blonde prince’s boot.
“I'm s-sorry.” Danny wasn't sure what else to say, but the angry undead stormed off, clearly too pissed off to bother with accepting apologies. Which was probably for the best, as the upset looking royal looked as if he were equally as miserable.
Sticky punch now covered him, he'd ruined someone else's time...oh, this party hadn't been a good idea, it hadn't been a good idea at all.
Maybe there was a reason you haven't been to any other parties, Danny boy.
Slowly rising to his feet, he managed to make it back to his companion in one piece. One sticky, poor excuse for a piece.
“I don't think this was such a good idea after all, Tris,” he mumbled, one hand moving up to nervously scratch the back of his head. He jerked back, realizing he was only adding to the mess by transplanting some of the stickiness elsewhere.
Ugh.
“Y-Yeah, I think I'm gonna go.” Danny couldn't even look his friend in the eye. “Sorry. I...you don't have to go now if you don't wanna, just shoot me a text and I'll pick you up when you're done, or whatever.”
He could feel the punch begin to cling to his skin, the sensation wet and uncomfortable. Anxiously rubbing his arms, the young man turned around and shuffled his way out, looking miserable and defeated.

Genevieve DelacroixTurning, not expecting to hear that voice though she really should have, her dark blue eyes landed on the purple eyed female. A bright smile coming to lit upon her fair, almost too pale, features. "Jada!" Oh, she really should have expected to see the other, they both ran in similar social circles and this was a charity event. "Thanks - I thought it was fitting...and I honestly didn't know what to do." It really was fitting, at least for those who knew she was the senshi of vampires. To others, especially her own friends from Crystal, it might seem really...off for the social girl to wear such a dark costume. She would admit it really wasn't like her...but it was fitting and maybe it would be another step in accepting and being the senshi of vampires?
"I really don't see it letting up for a while, it's really thick. If anything they might wait a little while but I don't think they'll wait forever." Meaning they'd have some fog to still deal with, she figured there was no way around it. "Perhaps we should stick together...especially after last year." Dropping her voice to just above a whisper on the last part. "My parents came here...and if anything happens I hope to keep them safe." She would try and keep her secret from them...but if she had to give it away - she would.
"What brought you here? The maze or the fact it's a social event?" Which seemed to have attracted all sorts of people, not just the upper class you'd expect at some social event. This one was more open and easy to get in to, it was nice, it meant more people to interact with which was good. It also meant if something happened there would hopefully be more people to handle things.
If she sounded a bit paranoid, which even in her own mind she did, it was best to remember that any event in this city seemed to go horribly wrong as of late. It wasn't being paranoid when it likely was going to go to hell and end in chaos.Infinities I remember you, of course. ^_^ Lucifer Force Genevieve had to bring her best friend with her to this. ^_^ Cant' leave her at home, plus...no trust in this event being innocent.

Tristan Lestrange
The brunette had been on his way towards one of the sets of flowers that had drawn his eye, expecting Danny to be on his heels when he realized that his companion was eyeing something else. Long legs slowed and when the blonde spoke, his head turned and green eyes followed the man's gaze towards the table.
"Oh, let me--" The sentence trailed off because there his excited friend went to fetch them drinks. Uncomfortably Tristan remained in place, standing mostly in place with some fidgeting from foot to foot. He had just started to play with the old timey camera when he heard the half angry shout and he was looking up, watching that scene unravel before him in almost slow motion.
Instinct had him moving forward but he wasn't fast enough. People enjoying the event kept getting in his way and eventually he was forced to just stand there and wait for Danny to get to him, soaked in punch looking like the world had crashed around him.
"Danny--" He was cut off as the blonde pulled of an incredible Gatsby impression, wilting in place and ready to slink off after being scolded. "Hey," his voice was soft as a hand reached out for some part of his friend that wasn't covered in sticky punch. "It's not gonna be fun without you, we can come back later when there's not so many people."
There was no way he was going to be comfortable if he lost his only anchor.
"If you're going, I'm going too." It was a simple phrase, but he meant it. Fingers reached for one of Danny's hands and fingers slid between his easily when he joined him on his exit.

Toby Yates* (Dressed like Elf Kirito, but no wig, so reddish blond hair+green strip) The nervous look down wasn't lost on Toby, but he didn't back away. He smiled in a hopefully reassuring way and replied, "Oh yeah! I love plants. I'm a little sad it's been raining like this, I wanted to walk through the gardens..." He gestured out into the increasingly foggy night. "I like to go hiking around in the woods, lotsa different plants out there! I've never really been in a huge garden before, though, it's cool!" He was clearly genuine about his enthusiasm for it, although truth be told he probably knew a lot less about all of it that Michi, since he didn't actually garden, just observed. Toby was confident that the difference in interests would be fine, though. Great, even. More to talk about! He returned his attention to Michi, and said, "So...you're a butterfly, right? Cool wings!" He glanced to the side. "I had some wings, too, but broke one accidentally, so didn't wear them."

Jason McClayre (dressed as Green Lantern (og))!
Jason had arrived with Nischal, looking forward to enjoying the events at the Bootanitcal Garden. It was a bit disappointing that it had to rain on them and delay the maze, but there was plenty to do inside for the time being. He enjoyed seeing some of the people in costumes roaming around, though the best one had to Nischal's. Maybe he was a bit biased, but he definitely made a good Aquaman. And not the lame orange and green original Aquaman either, though a classic, but the newest, hottest, Aquaman he had ever seen.
"Have I told you how nice your costume is yet?" He probably had like a billion times already, but it was worth restating. They were wandering around inside, he was mostly keeping his eyes open for Kailey, who he knew would be here. It would be the first time she had met Nischal, though he had talked about him a lot. He was looking forward to them meeting for the first time. Hopefully all went well, he couldn't really imagine it going bad though.

Shikora MjoliAt least he seemed to be on the same page with the rowdy drunks, though he had definitely still sauntered over here holding a wine glass. She'd have to keep an eye on that if he kept insisting on being near her. At least that smile seemed a little less full of teeth. There were two tracks she could take here. She could just say her name, simply, or maybe she could add something to it. Her title might intimidate him, and maybe he'd cool off a bit. Or it might impress him and just make it worse. She couldn't quite read which way it would go with him just yet, considering how persistent he seemed. Still, it was worth a shot. "Dr. Shikora Mjoli." Ignacio ArayaIgnacio gave a winning grin when Richard had finally made his way over. "Surprised this wasn't the first place you looked," teased Ignacio, grabbing a candy from his little bunch and handing it over to the other. He then took another candy himself and popped it into his mouth. It definitely wasn't the healthiest food, but eh -- he could run it off later. Once he finished chewing, he let his eyes fall to Richard's buttons, snorting. "I told you that shirt didn't fit. You've broadened. In fact," he lifted a finger and traced through the air, stopping at another one of the buttons. "There's another one, straining a tad..." His eyes lifted back up to Richard's face. "Not that I mind." He let that hang for a moment, smirking slightly, before asking, "So do you think this maze is gonna be easy? There's definitely kids here, but not a ton."

Lysander Cadwell (Dressed as a modern vampire) "I'm sure they will some day. That's just what humans do, try to figure the world out and then try to figure out how to talk to it." That was part of why people tended to see human traits in animals. People wanted, probably needed, to be able to understand things and giving human emotions to animals was an easy way to do it. "Actually, maybe we already can. People do like to say that if they talk to their plants they grow better." That was probably because you were giving them extra carbon dioxide but whatever.

Gweneth Malley (Dressed as a black cat) Gwen hadn't really been feeling the Bootanical garden event, but she had promised Yvaine a night out together and she wasn't going to back on her word no matter how much she wanted to just stay home and pretend to be a hermit. So, with little energy for the event, she slapped together a quick costume. A short black dress, cat ears, and some cat make-up done with eyeliner (along with her other basic make-up) and voila she looked like she was ready to go for the night. Minimal effort but with a good enough impact.
Standing next to her friend as they milled around the reception area was working to improve her mood. The social atmosphere was rubbing off on her and she found she couldn't stay gloomy. Anxieties slowly were pushed to the back of her mind as she interacted with her colorful dressed friend and anyone else who came by.
When a man sidled over to them, Gwen smiled cordially as Yvaine greeted him in typical Yvaine style, bright, open and friendly.
Then came introductions, and Gwen couldn't help but note the rather obvious underhanded attempt by her friend at playing matchmaker. Instantly her anxiety returned and she attempted a discreet deep breath to calm herself. "Please, Yvaine. I am not that good." She gave her friend a flash of a smile before turning her attention back to Rob.
"It's nice to meet you, though. I hope the weather isn't dampening the event for you too much?" Gwen felt....awkard. Unsure of herself, but she attempted to keep it on the down low. Perhaps the sudden barrage of emotions would pitter out as she conversed some more.

Rowan Cameron (Dressed as a gothic victorian vampire) "I may not melt but my make-up certainly will." He said with a sniff. The black eye-liner he wore was, to be honest, waterproof, but he wasn't about to confess that to Trey. "And besides, could you imagine these ruffles all wet and limpy?" He made a face of disgust. "It would completely ruin the effect."
A tongue danced over the fake teeth adhered to his own to make sure they were still well attached. Golden eyes scanned the crowd looking for the people that his brother had mentioned. "I don't know about interesting." He said. "But perhaps someone will surprise me." He raised a brow at his brother as he took another sip of his drink. Absently he wished they had served alcohol. True, he may be underage, but a good glass of wine certainly wouldn't get him drunk. Plus it would add to the whole effect of his attire.
"You realize that I will keep you to your word. If you utter one word that is related to business talk I may just have to help myself to a little bite to stop you." Golden eyes danced with amusement as he teased his elder brother.
"So!" He said with a large gesture to the crowd. "Lead on my hunter friend. I shall follow thee so as to keep that stake out of my back." A chuckle escaped Rowan.

Sachio Sugiyama (dressed as BotW Link sans pointy ears) Sachio... wasn't exactly sure why he was here in the first place. Sure, he often visited the gardens on his own when there weren't events, but that was to actually, you know, study the gardens. And while he would have loved to skip this event, even with the free food, he had been forced to go by his parents. They had given quite a lot to charity and had promised to come to this event, until something urgent had come up and they forced Sachio to go in their stead. They would have made his sister go to, but she had the excuse of being sick. Lucky her. Sachio thought to himself grumpily as he looked around at all of the conversation. As of yet, no one had even talked to him even though he had deigned, see had been forced, to come! Instead they were all wrapped up in themselves or something which was ridiculous because if anything, they should be falling over themselves to talk to him! However, as much as Sachio tried to will it to happen, there was no one who wanted to converse with him, and about him of course, as of yet, and so here he was, standing near the food table and only eating the pieces that he could actually use utensils on.

Steele Moore ( dressed as a vampire )
Score. He was getting somewhere, finally, even if it had taken both a while and years off of Steele's life. He waited patiently for her to decide what to say - he could practically see the gears turning in her head - and then at last he was given a name.
A name and a title. Steele blinked.
"A doctor!" he said, hastily trying to cover up his immediate reaction, which had been a combination of mingled surprise, panic, and maybe a touch of startled impressiveness as well. "Well! That's - " Intimidating. " - incredible! What sort of doctor...ing do you do?"Basil Whybourne ( dressed as his usual self, in nice slacks, button down, and vest )
"True," Basil conceded. "I very much try to figure out the world, it's quite a fascinating thing. There are a lot of things to discover still, we haven't learned all there is, and I'm very interested in people especially. Mostly because there's a lot of variables to make people who they are."
And because he was also trying to get better at the whole peopling thing. He gave Lysander a quizzical look.
"Really? That seems...doubtful, but I suppose perhaps it could just be the placebo effect in play," Basil mused.

Lysander Cadwell (Dressed as a modern vampire) "They've done studies on that one. Plants really do grow better when they're talked to. I think also when you play music to them as well." He'd never bothered to delve into why but he knew that it had been studied enough to at least say talking to plants was good for them. Hearing that Basil was interested in people got a bit more of his attention. He hadn't meet a whole lot of people outside of school that were into people studies. "You into Psychology? Or Sociology? I minored in psychology in school and still try to keep up with it as much as I can."

Yuuri Matsunaga (not in a costume)
Even though he didn’t say anything, Yuuri appreciated the comfort he received in the form of his hand being squeezed. He was also thankful that Adrien decided not to make even more of a display, despite Yuuri sure he wanted to.
“I don’t know. I never really celebrated Halloween before,” he said quietly, glancing around at all the different costumes people were wearing. “It’s different elsewhere. More macabre costumes. For those who do dress up at least. In France, one of their national holidays is the day after Halloween, so a lot of people feel like Halloween takes away from the more recognized holiday.”
Yuuri paused, realizing he was speaking too much about pointless things that people would have no real interest in, and cleared his throat.
“What would you have gone as? If you had more time. Sorry, I didn’t think you were planning on dressing up, otherwise I would have tried to make sure you started getting ready earlier.” --- Michael Lyons-Gallo ( dressed as Obi Wan )
The muscles around Michael’s jaw tightened as he clenched his mouth shut against all the things he would love to remind Caspian about what happened and how he didn’t appreciate how flippant he was being about it. But that was not a conversation for here, nor would it probably be brought up later.
Like most things that bothered him, Michael was content at letting it fester and rot rather than address it. It didn’t help that a lot of his concerns were brushed aside because Caspian was stubborn and a brat, as he said himself.
Being alive was all that mattered.
Michael ignored the eye roll he got, staring ahead but not really paying attention to the other people or decorations. He knew he should be in a better mood now that Caspian was actually able to get up and walk around, but the previous months were emotionally draining.
“Do you want a drink?” he asked, purposefully changing the subject away from himself and his doom and gloom attitude. --- Ilian Jones ( dressed as Jon Snow )
Ilian didn’t react much to his hand being smacked down, although he did take a moment to adjust the black furry rug around his shoulders.
“If this is going to be an issue, I need to know right now,” Ilian said with a frown, keeping his voice low so as not to be overheard, although there was no noticeable irritation in his words. “I introduced you both because one day you might have to work together. You don’t have to like each other, but be civil, will you?” he said, turning to frown more at Lovely because he was the more outspoken and volatile one.
“And I’m not sure what I did for you to openly insult me,” he then said to Seth, looking at him as though he was piecing together a little more about who this man was, and what that meant. Perhaps, after everything, there was some disdain Seth felt towards Ilian.
“Lovely took a knife to the chest for me. I trust him before anyone else. And I would pick him before anyone else,” he said, unable to stop the tension he felt building in his shoulders as he looked Seth over once more. Capable, yes. But there was that voice in the back of Ilian’s head reminding him that he was still a senshi and could very well betray him or Lovely if it meant something better.
He hoped he was wrong. --- Chris Gallo ( dressed as Captain Hook from ONCE )
“You’ve never been a heartless b***h to me,” Chris laughed, feeling content and happy. This was probably the most fun he’d had in months. “But that’s because you always thought I was cute, didn’t you?” he teased softly, looking around once more for anyone they might know.
But when the topic was turned back on him about the mirrors, his own eyebrows rose in feigned innocence, avoiding eye contact with his wife as he cleared his throat. “Why would I do that? It wasn’t that long.”
Okay, it had been a significant amount of time, and he really had been concerned that he and Allison might have been trapped there forever, or worse.
He remembered all too well the request he made to Celsus on what he wanted him to do if he were ever to be corrupted.
“Look. Things are not always horrible. They have those little chocolate cake things you like,” Chris pointed out the distraction on the table in front of them, hoping Paris would be more interested in the food than scolding him. Again.

Shikora MjoliDid that work? It might have worked. His hesitating way of asking her what kind of doctor she was made her lips quirk upwards just a tad. That was definitely enough to throw him off his flirtation game, at least, which was good enough for her. Maybe it would disrupt his attempts. Maybe letting him know what kind of "doctoring" she did might help that out further. "I'm a clinical psychologist!" Her tone seemed slightly brighter than it had when she said that, unable to stop a bit of her barely-existent pride from peeking out. She couldn't help it--she was proud of what she had managed to accomplish, at the very least. That Psy.D. had been hard work. "I have a practice in the city." She let that sit for a moment, making sure to let it sink in, before asking, "Why? What do you do?" Admittedly, she was curious for scientific reasons. There were some professions that seemed prone to people with a somewhat smarmy manner, and she wondered if he was in any of them.
