She wasn't sure how they managed to do it, but when the machines began to whirl and spin--wasn't the power out except for the emergency power?--she yelped, hands hovering over the machines a bit as water began to seep out of the washers. "Damn it all!" She quickly picked up Hania, cussing as she also saw rats running out back through the hole they'd come through. "Don't you dare try and go after them," she hissed to the feline, trying to wade through the water that was flooding the room.
Moving towards the laundry shoot, she tried to hoist the feline up first. "See if there's a way out," she urged, before trying to see how plausible it was to get up through there herself. "If not just get on my shoulders. I don't need you drowning in this s**t."
When Kailey had given him a quick scratch and brushed some of the dirt off, Hania gave her a thankful purr. He wasn't looking forward to the bath he would need after this mess but it cold be worse so he wouldn't complain. A bath would be much better then having to clean himself after all, that would be even worse. "Agreed. A vacation somewhere sunny with good napping weather." He whispered back. As they continued to check them out, all of the sudden something gets turned on and they were getting wet. His ears went flat against his head again when the water started to come out. "Just because I need a bath does not mean I want one right now!"
He gave Kailey a thankful headbutt when she picked him up away from the water and only just noticed the rats as she hiss for him not to go after them. "I would neeeever." He said though his eyes followed the rats until they had all left. His attention was quickly brought back to the task of finding a way out when Kailey lifted him up to check out the laundry chute, giving her a confirming hum he crawled into it. "Will do!"

Julian Laurence - phone w/ cord - try the door again ( one )
Rhiannon. He made a mental note to remember that, if only because they were both in this place and it was horrible and it might help to at least have someone to speak to even if it was just to gripe about their current situation, after all.
"Julian," he said. "Julian Laurence. I - "
He did not know what had happened.
One moment he and this blond young woman - Rhiannon, his brain supplied helpfully - had been carefully checking out the washer and dryers, and the next moment there was water everywhere, cascading over the ground, bursting through the enormous washers and spilling out over them. He gave a shout of surprise and stumbled back, then surged forward again just as quickly, fumbling through the gushing water to try and find an off switch, or a blockade, or something.
There was nothing. Julian sucked in a sharp breath and whipped his head around, blond hair sticking wetly to his cheeks as he tried to find some sort of exit. There was still the door; he slogged through the rapidly rising water towards it,
Rhiannon had already informed him of her plan to attend to the chutes. Julian gave a nod and moved towards the door, reaching out a wet hand and wrenching at it.
"This - place - is - a nightmare - " he snapped, still tugging. "Come on - "
Austen gingerly lifted a heap of what looked like dirty towels before putting them back again. Other people in the room were sorting through other bins, or checking out the washer and the dryer, or trying to figure out another way out. She let out a small sigh, then turned back to the laundry bin in front of her, stretching out a hand to tug at a wrapping that looked like it had once been a bedsheet.
There was a squeaking sound, then a skittering noise, and then -
"Oh!" Austen shrieked and leapt backwards, though not in time. The rats were pouring over the side of the bin, scuttling along her feet, traveling up and down her body, and Austen gave another shriek, less out of terror, and more just out of surprise, her eyes wide as she slapped at the little creatures, trying to get them off of her.
She was no stranger to rats. Austen had pet rats, for Pete's sake, but these were not her gentle, trained creatures. These were startled, afraid, squealing beasts who just wanted to get into whatever they could, and Austen shook her arms and legs out, trying to rid herself of them, until finally, finally they caught wind of something else and hurried off into the morgue.
Austen sucked in a sharp breath, putting a hand to her chest, and tried to remember how to breathe. She'd had worse. This wasn't so bad. This -
Oh. Never mind. It was bad.
The water seeped around her feet, filled her shoes, traveled up her ankles and soaked through her socks. Austen gave a little squawk of startled panic and began hauling heaps of laundry over the sides of the bins, dumping them onto the ground in an effort to maybe mop up or soak up some of the water that was going to overtake them all if she wasn't careful.
One bin empty. Austen moved to the next, hoisting up large armfuls of whatever she could find and throwing them onto the ground, ignoring the fact that the water level kept rising, and that she was now sloshing around noisily in her attempts at helping.

Gweneth Malley - Attempt to climb up the laundry chute. (Broken IV Pole) The washer and dryer room seemed to be quiet. Nothing appeared out of place but Gwen decided to try and get a better look behind the line of machines. Grabbing hold of one of the washing machines she pulled it and managed to inch it away from the wall so she could get a better look behind it. As she reached around and behind the machine she hit something with her hand and heard a strange sound begin. The sound had a very distinct whirring sound and immediately water began pouring out around them.
“Oh s**t!” She cursed as she stumbled away from the machine, splashing into water as she fell onto her a**. She scrambled back to her feet to hurry back to the others and found everyone trying to figure out a way out of the mess they were now in.
Some people were trying to sop up the water with linens while others tried doors to get away. Nothing was working and the water was just getting higher.
At the same time as Isaiah, Gwen noted the laundry shoots. Praying that she’d be able to fit into them she rushed over to one that Isaiah had not sidles up to and immediately begun to work her way into the chute.
You attempt the door again in desperation. The water is up to your knees by the time you make it there, but it continues to refuse to budge. By the time you give up, water is already up to your waist and climbing higher. You wade your way over to the group attempting to climb the chute, only to feel something slimy wrap itself around your leg. Your breath leaves your lungs as you're pulled under water but thanks to your quick thinking, you're able to use your weapon to beat off the tentacle-like creature that continues to try to hold you down.
Breaking the surface, you kick your feet and make it to the chute in time.
Option Two:
You attempt to soak up the growing water with the piles and piles of linen stacked around the laundry room. It is a valiant effort, but also one done in vain because the water is coming too fast to bother trying to soak it up.
As you turn to slosh your hip-deep-in-water self towards the chute, you spot a dorsal fin breach the water's murky surface and begin worming its way towards you.
You waste no time shrieking and clamoring your way up the laundry chute.
It doesn't even make sense but you are definitely not sticking around to see what's attached to that fin!
Option Three:
The only way out is up, it seems. You climb onto a linen bin and make your way up the laundry chute, shimmying your way through the tight space as you head up, up, up!
You manage to make your way up the chute without too much difficulty. Managing your face and finger stepping to a minimum (sorry person below you!), you crawl out of the entrance of the chute and find yourself on the ground in the first floor's hallway. You appear to be in the back part of the hospital, away from the beautiful entryway.
To your right is a sign that reads SERVICE EXIT ONLY.
To your left is a sign that reads CAFETERIA.
You choose to...
Option One
Head towards the exit!
Option Two
Head towards the cafeteria!

Caleb is heading to the cafeteria! Phone with Cord
Oh sure. Now there were effing sharks in the water. The water that was clearly coming from a broken pipe...and now people could climb things like the cats did. It didn't make sense, and the sooner Caleb was out of here...the better.
He was never, ever going to go to the hospital again if he could help it. This whole thing had been a huge, huge mistake.
When he got out of the laundry chute his eyes narrowed at the exit sign. Yeah. Right. Sure. Like that was really going to be an exit. No. He was going to be smart about this. This was not a place where up meant up. Up meant sideways and now he was going down to go out. Yeah.
...Because that made so much sense.

Rhiannon - option oneRhiannon Beaumont - Option one
Julian. Julian Laurence. It was a unique enough name to remember, and Rhiannon nodded her head as she made her way to the chute and tried climbing up. And it seemed like that was a good idea, because soon everyone seemed to be heading towards the chute.
She got to the top, reaching out to take hold of Julian’s hand as he made his way out. She didn’t know anyone else enough to expect them to even want help, but at least he’d given her his name.
Once he was out, she didn’t say anything but gave him a small nod, glad to see he made it out okay, and turned to head towards the service exit.

Gweneth Malley - Head towards the exit! (Broken IV Pole) Thankfully the chute had been wider than the vent and Gwen managed to squeeze her hips into it. With as much care as she could so as not to hurt the person who had followed her into the chute, Gwen shimmied her way through the chute one elbow length at a time.
Finally she reached the end and was able to get free of the chute. She hadn’t realized she had grown anxious in the tunnel until she was finally free of it. Her heart was pounding and she licked her lips as she attempted to calm herself down. Her eyes gazed around and eventually landed on a sign.
“A service evit!” She said in relief. A way out!
Joining others, not caring whom she was beside even if it was Isaiah, she made her way towards what promised to be an exit.

Mathias White - Option 2 (he doubts they're that lucky)
Tatsuya had no cares for anyone else. He ran on panic and adrenaline and a large amount of NOPE. He shimmied up that chute like he was a salmon going home to mate. He would not drown today, NOT TODAY, the stars did not demand his sacrifice to~day.
He popped out the top and pushed straight for that sign that said Exit Only. Like hell was he doing to stay in this infested, terrifying filling up with water hospital anymore! He was filing a complaint to the hospital board; how did they not know about any of these problems to begin with. How did they let the hospital open like this!
The door wasn't moving, and there were too many people here for her to transform and rip it down. That wouldn't keep her for trying, except- there was a group climbing the chute, and Jada joined them.
Until something wrapped around her leg, and her eyes lit with fury before it tugged her under the water.
Oh, you want to play? She smashed her phone into whatever it was, and hauled herself up. She wanted to destroy it for daring, honestly. Foolish little monster. but there was no time for that right now. She hauled herself up the chute, and out, dripping and soaked and- and her waterproof casing for her cell phone better actually be waterproof.
She stomped for the exit, yanking off her heels and dripping her way down the hall.
Okay, so mopping up the water didn't seem to work. Rayna had eyed those that were attempting to climb up the chute and also those that were trying to open the door again. If seemed as if the group climbing the chute had more luck than those that didn't. Rayna swore she even saw people being pulled under the growing level of water. GULP!
Rayna paused as she took in the room and then the laundry chute before something rose out of the water pretty near to her position. It was a fairly large dorsal fin. Shark shark shark shark.
If that wasn't a motivator to access the chute relatively soon nothing else was. Rayna shrieked in terror and raced over to be the next one in the chute.
Once the ascension was over she found herself with a choice of two directions to go. Feeling almost dead certain about her choice Rayna flew towards the service exit. She was getting out of here.
