Description: Buna is loyal but can be a bit stubborn at times. She is a traditionalist with little patience when younger lionesses come up with stupid (in her opinion) ideas. She's a mature lioness and is confident that her strength and experience will take her where she need to go.

She's got the proper upbringing to help guide the new generation and she's at a fairly respectable age. Thanks to her being in the pride a long time she's seen Abaholi come and go and coped with change (against her will at times). Perhaps the most valuable skill she's learned is to chose her battles. She'll state her opinion loudly, but she will sometimes let things slide if it's not a very important issue to her group.

History: She's lived in the Bonelands her entire life and was raised with proper Bonelands traditions. She's had one litter of cubs, with Surtak. All cubs lived to be adults, even if Emeka had an extremely close call in a hunting accident. There aren’t nearly enough grandcubs for her taste, and one of the males haven't even left the pride!

Personality/background: Suffers from a fear of missing out. Was jealous when her brothers got to go on special outings with their father Surtak.

Fairly balanced female from a traditionalist upbringing. She secretly wishes her coat and hair could be a little bit darker, but she doesn't let that insecurity show.

Meaning: Zulu for "A mark made in anything soft: i.e. a footprint in soft clay"

Description: Xatu is still very young and inexperienced and relies heavily on Xefo's good advice. He's a bit paranoid around females when he's in the pride since he's still getting used to the idea that he won't be chased away any moment. It was a great relief for him to be able to stay in touch with his birth pride since he adores his mother and is very attached to his home. He takes his vow of celibacy very seriously and while he will talk to females other than his mother it's obvious that it makes him nervous.

History: Xatu grew up under Matifu's rule and learned to keep his head down and stay out of the way. His mother always doted on him and he did not look forward to the day he was to be kicked out. With his half-brother in charge there were suddenly more options than to leave and Xatu with a bit of luck (and pain) he managed to secure the Enda rank. He was initiated as an adolescent and returned from his first trip shortly before the red ones arrived.

Meaning: Just some pharmaceutical geekery. It's a NSAID (painkiller)

Description: Xefo is an old vulture with plenty of life experience. He's got a cynical streak a mile wide and claims to be the voice of reason in the pair. The companionship is very much a convenience for him, since the protection of a lion gives him an edge against younger vultures.

History: After a long hard life Xefo got an offer he couldn't refuse. If you ask him he's the one that initiated the companionship, and that's probably true. His lion counterpart doesn't really talk about it.

Name: Jasiri
Meaning: Fearless

Personality/History: Jasiri is in the best shape he's ever been, and he's planning to stick around for as long as he can in his privileged position. He imagines himself a great gift to all lionesses and is a bit provoked by the fact that something as trivial as his white mane seems to be a disadvantage when wooing Bonelands ladies. But they'll see how great he is eventually... He'll just have to work harder to prove them wrong. He's determined to sire a litter as soon as possible, before the other Inselelo does...

Personality and background: Born to the lioness Igazi and the Inselelo Jasiri. Mostly raised by her mother, her aunt and the other lionesses in the Bonelands pride.

Name: Sandile
Meaning: Increased our family (Zulu)

Personality and background: Sandile grew up marked by his mother's illness. He's not a strong male and wouldn't fare well in the roguelands. He has little to no drive to procreate so the vow of celibacy isn't really a hard choice for him to make. Despite the traditionalist views of his family he'll opt to stay and live rather than face a uncertain fate in the roguelands.

Note: He’s asexual and sworn to celibacy and will most likely never have cubs.

Name: Inkungu

Meaning: Fog in Zulu

Personality and history:Inkungu likes cubs very much, and she's sure she'll be an excellent mother. Until then she happily volunteers to be a cub sitter and play with the little ones. She's intrigued by the Ahluke, and while her curiosity might be annoying she means well.

Born and raised in a close knit family group, the sisters left when their father was defeated by their brother. Inkungu is delighted to have joined a new "family" and one with delicious unrelated lions that could father her cubs!

Name: Inyoka'dla
Meaning: Snake-eater

Personality and history: She started following the pride after they left a tasty snake lying around for her. Loud and street-smart, but not a great conversationalist. Endures Inkungu's babying as long as there are treats in it for her.
