Not questions that need answering, just observations I've made on Sai's arrival:

Jade: Not sure what about Sai's approach would make your character think "He had a demeanor that made everyone else out to be weak and mere specs of dirt in his life."

...Sai hadn't said that much, and really, all he had done was 1. Appear, 2. Give Haseo an order, and 3. Pull the woman at her waist to come with him.

Tenchi: Your character keeps referring to my character as "Sai" to Saiyuri... but you should only know him as "Master Mori", because that's all you've ever heard of his name.

"The world has forgotten the evil of the Bijuu...

As the Genin under the guise of a genin spoke, Atsureki turned his gaze on him as he thought to himself, well, that solves the problem of the tail, assuming the guards at the desk don't stick one on us I suppose. As the Anbu turned his attention on Atsureki, the young Hyuuga gave him a deferential nod as he apologized for the actions of his wards. At Sai's sudden command, Atsureki turned to walk over to his master, bowing to the man as he said, "Pardon me Master, I forgot myself, but I did sign in as is required."

Before his master could respond the woman behind the desk suddenly spoke up, inquiring about a discrepancy amongst there forms. It would seem that while he had listed his village as his original home of Suna, the other two had put Oto. Brow furrowing slightly in irritation, Atsureki thought to himself, I had hoped that they would follow along when I mentioned being from Sunagakure to the genin. Perhaps they hadn't noticed. I've noticed that Konaga don't always seem to be as attentive to those around them. Opening his mouth to explain, Atsureki glanced at Sai as he began to speak, saving him the trouble.

After listening to Sai's fabrication, sprinkled with the tiniest bits of truth, Atsureki turned his pales eyes back on the guard, smiling apologetically as he scratched the back of his head and chuckled uncomfortably.
"I beg your pardon, I was unsure what to write. This is my first visit to another Village as a guest", Atsureki said, his tone calm, albeit a bit embarrassed. This charade is quickly running thin, if I have to keep this stupid smile on my face much longer I think I'm going to have to hit something, the proud young Hyuuga thought to himself, assuming the same friendly expression he had worn since arriving in the village.

... I intend to help them remember."

Ryuusei Cheri
Konohagakure| Gate Keeper | Chuunin | NPC

Eyes on the trio, Cheri was patiently awaiting a response when she noticed the older male's face wince as if in pain before quickly returning to a state of calm. 'Really good control there...but why the suddenly flare of pain in the first place...?' Keeping quiet, Cheri merely continued her silent observations until one of their guest decides to speak. It would appear the older male, the Master Mori who would be taking charge. His bow came rather unexpected by Cheri received it warmly with a small bow of her head almost immediately after his. Clipboard still in hand, she listened carefully to his words, making sure to look over them for any flaws and such but his story was stable and fluent. There were no stumbles and everything point he spoke made sense. Sure the kids mistake was rather strange but if they really had not traveled as much as they said then it really was a genuine rookie mistake. 'Besides...the war did leave many homeless and those that did not relocate had to make due elsewhere...without an actually village, it'll be hard to check up on such things so we can only go by their story...it'll have to do for now I guess...' So far, they've shown no obvious reasons for suspicion but Cheri still felt weary for some reason. 'I have no reason to not believe them though...' When the young male spoke up as well regarding his mistake, Cheri could only nod in a silence response. Same with the older man, his tone was calm and reflected all the correct/expected emotions one would find from someone who made such a careless mistake. 'Still...'

Keeping on a smile, Cheri knew what had to be done so she simply rested the clipboard to her side while she graced the three guest with a warm smile. "Well that certainly makes sense, for someone inexperienced in the ways of travel such error are common. As far as I can tell, everything checks out just fine. Regarding your offer to one of our genin regarding having them as an escort, I apologize but they are currently preoccupied. If you like though, I would be more then happy to guide you through the town. My partner is more then capable of holding down the fort until my return." Holding onto her gracious smile, Cheri hoped for them to accept as a way for her to follow them a bit longer. As she confirmed before, she had no reason to truly suspect them but an oral story doesn't really hold much ground against legal documentations. 'Sadly...Otogakure is in ruins...and if what they say is true then sending word to Suna would also prove to be futile...'

"Good, then we will leave immediately. Nakaya, please take the lead towards the Kirigakure docks. Takashi will follow Nakaya, Saiyuri will follow Takashi, and I will bring up the rear. Travel should be fairly uneventful through our own land, so I do not suspect trouble, but I suspect we should all be on our guard anyway. Leave your minds open to a link so Saiyuri can contact you if needed. If trouble is spotted, hold position, or signal for Saiyuri to make a link and she can filter the information to the rest of us." Hiakru didn't leave much room for argument as he moved forward a few steps, facing his team.

"This is your first mission. Stay focused and do not waver. It is good practice to assume that you could be attacked at any time by any one, no matter how innocuous or innocent they may appear, or no matter how remote an area you believe you are in. I'm sure you will all be fine though... and I am here as added precaution. Nakaya, please lead the way."

[OOC: Note to everyone: Traveling will require the prerequisite posts from all members of the party through each area, and preferably should come in order. If someone does not respond to your post within a day however, feel free to continue forward and drag the rest of the team along as if they posted saying nothing.]

Nakaya Shouta
[Genin] [ Explosion Release] [ Konoha]
User Image

Nakaya nodded to the anbu, trying to push his sense of impeding danger to the back of his mind. Understood sir. Sensor's are always the point men, or at least history would have us believe so. He would step out into a lead position, looking back once, and then he would shoot off to the outside of the village gates. Once he reached the tree line he would leap with a bit of his own unique finesse onto the branch of a tree. Without hesitation or a break in momentum, he jumped again, and went flying out towards the next branch.

These were fluid movements, those he had learned from his past mentor along with his now gone friends. He hopped from tree to tree, bouncing from the limbs of the old forest deities. He knew from the setup of the team why he had been chosen to go out front. As far as team dynamics went, Saiyuri and himself were both great thinkers. But he also shared with Takashi the physical power to debilitate in as few hits as possible. But more than that, Nakaya was the teams early warning system. He was a sensor and thus had a very far reaching sixth sense. In addition to that, the first enemy to attack typically attacked the man in front. Nakaya was well aware of the old saying used by military planners: "I am god, for I choose the point man." But unlike most, Nakaya was confident in being the first of his comrades out of the gate, to be seen, and to engage the enemy. He had a trick very few in the surviving shinobi world had. He could make things go boom with a single touch.

Next was Takashi. He was just as good in front as in back since he has good senses in addition to a strong build. The difference however, was that the teams medic was just behind him. Nakaya felt better with Takashi closer to Saiyuri than himself, as if anything got through the point man they'd be trying to take out the medic above all else. Saiyuri was in the middle because she was the team's pivotal member. So as Nakaya and Takashi threw out their senses to find the enemy, they would have to signal to her the location to be relayed to Hasu, and then the team would go into a more beneficial formation to either go on the offense, or battle from a more shielded pose. Either way, Nakaya was keeping his attention out front until they had a moment where he could discuss his concerns about the trio entering the village.

Konaga Sai
| Konaga Clan | Akatsuki | Jounin | RPC Profile |

Sai waited patiently for the woman's response, but noted that she was watching all of them carefully. Thankfully however, Sai was well accustomed to gaining access to places he should not be allowed, especially given his experience in espionage and his cunning nature. Fooling others into believing you was all in the delivery, making yourself so confident in your role that it was hard to disbelieve you. It was something he was well practiced in and the Henge he used earlier for his cosmetic changes was definitely making it easier for the guard to accept him as a non-threatening visitor. when she finally gave her response, Sai knew they were close to their goal, but attaining it would require a bit more finesse...

"Konoha's reputation for a friendliness towards travelers is certainly alive and well I can see... a wonderful thing to see in such hard times. However, I feel it would wholly inappropriate for us to drag you away from your guard position. As a fellow shinobi, I cannot simply expect you to abandon your post even for such a kind and tempting offer as a guided tour. I could not bear that I was the cause of your absence if something were to occur here at the gates. Besides, I believe the fun of entering an unfamiliar place is to explore and learn what is around you. My wife and I have been looking forward to that adventure and I'm sure Haseo feels the same. You can see the excitement in his face right now can you not? He has looked forward to meeting those of his lineage for some time now."

Making a slight motion towards Atsureki, Sai noted the beaming smile of excitement which he wore as a mask over his normally angered and angsty face. Funnily enough, Konoha had nothing to fear of his visit this time around, except in that it was a scouting mission for when they did return again. Sai thought it amusing however that he would get to see Konoha's second rebuilding effort after the destruction he had personally caused for the village. Keeping his amusement well hidden under his exterior however, he waited to see if his last words would convince the gate guardian to allow them through.

No sooner had she gave her response did the male leader of the unexpected party of three give his response. At her words, Cheri merely held onto her smile showing no signs of uneasiness on her face. Her hands thought were another story seeing how the hand that was not holding onto the clipboard at the moment was fingering nervously on her wrist length kimono sleeve. The longer into his response the more Cheri found herself losing ground. She had no rights to forcefully assign them a guard and she still had no proof of their hazardous to Konoha. 'I had hoped for an opening to observe them more but this man was right...it wouldn't be right of me to leave my post...forcing a guard upon them is just like telling them we suspect them on the spot and if they are a danger, we could risk the lives off all those by the gates...' Letting out a deep breath through her nose, Cheri knew there were no holes as far as she could tell in not only their story but their expressions as well. 'Body posture gave away nothing as well...' Simply nodding her head, Cheri wearily granted them their entrance into their village. "I see...well what you said has been correct and I can tell your acquaintance is quite eager to get on his way. As I've stated before, your paperwork checks out and I honestly have no reason to keep you here any longer do I?" Smiling warmly at them the last bit was more of joke with a hidden meaning but it didn't matter much as she really couldn't detain them any longer. "Anyhow, may you three enjoy your stay here in Konoha." Stepping off to the side, Cheri gave the party of three a clear path into their village. 'All I can do now is just hope their story really is true and nothing happens...'

Someone That Fights For Something Is Dangerous

Takashi nodded at Hasu's instructions, then strapped on his Dragon Fang gloves and placed his goggles before his eyes. He didn't like this. Nakaya in front? Yes, he would have forewarning should anyone attack them from head on, but that pulled from the range of their sides and rear. Then he mentally kicked himself. That's why Hasu would be behind them.

Aside from that, he was ahead of Saiyuri. He was her front guard. As if he needed more pressure. But the idea excited him a little, because this gave him a chance to show off the fruits of his labor. He spent weeks training himself, so much so that he was a bit faster than the normal genin now. And the fact that he didn't trust her safety to anyone but himself, maybe a little to Nakaya. Maybe he would not mind behind behind her, but he wasn't going to complain about his position. He quickened his pace to keep up with Nakaya, a relatively easy task.

"Rules are a binding contract, often, with no loopholes. If you choose to follow them, welcome their restrictions with open arms...

At a loss of words witnessing Sai's majesty, Zenko did her best to remain convincing. She took advantage of the moment and slid her slender arms about the man's torso, leaning against as a lover might. A coy smile curled her lips as she allowed herself to lean her head against his shoulder. Still being an inexperienced member despite previous arrogance, and boasting of hers, she couldn't think of anyway to placate the situation better then as Sai had handled it. The original plan had been for Zenko to attend the gate and convince those guarding it of their purpose, but that went out the window when Atsureki had been the first to get there. She was glad that Sai was able to so easily cover the mistake, and took mental notes of what he said for oratory suggestions. All she could manage well at the moment, above anyone else, was her looks.

When the woman guarding the gate gave ground, allowing them entrance to the village, the kunoichi smiled to herself and nodded towards Cheri with thanks.

... I'll just sit over there, and revel in my complete freedom."

Saiyuri Mayu
[Genin] [ Mayu Clan] [ Konoha] [ Team Hot Potato Leader ]

Saiyuri had entered Takashi's brain just in time to hear what he thought. Due to the fact that she could feel emotions, she felt Sai's momentary anger, though it happened in a flash. Master Mori had provided the guards with an excellent explanation though, and the trio were allowed into the village. Saiya was still uneasy, but did not have time to ponder this at all. Hasu had given them the traveling order and they set out. She nitpicked the details of their bunch and how they were arranged, and could not see anyway she'd have arranged them herself.

Nakaya was a sensor, and could easily defend himself. Putting him in the lead would allow him to sense anyone nearby and alert the group. Takashi was also handy in his place. He was a tank, and his physical senses also gave him an advantage. Whether Hasu knew it or not, but Saiyuri was able to sense as well. If anyone within 20 meters of the group, Saiyuri would feel them, even their emotions. This way she'd be able to tell the difference between bandits with bad intentions and regular passerbyers. The only one that Saiyuri was not very sure of was Hasu. She knew nothing of him, which also made her uneasy. Hopefully, they would not need to see those skills, but if anything Saiyuri hoped he stood up to his rank.

Listening patiently, Atsureki inwardly cursed as the guard offered her services as an escort. With his Master's quick thinking and silver-tongue however, the woman's offer was tidily dismissed in such a manner that she could not hope to press them without openly accusing them of being enemies. Bowing Atsureki hid the smirk he could not help from appearing on his lips before rising to his full height, the smirk replaced with the excited smile once more. "Thank you miss, come Master, I want to see my family before the sun sets tonight!", Atsureki said excitedly before turning on his heel and walking towards the heart of the village.

Once he was sure that no one was following him, aside from Sai and Zenko of course, Atsureki let his humble facade slip away, his arrogant smirk returning to grace his lips.
"If you have no objections, Master, I will begin my reconnaissance of the village now. Once I'm finished I can find you and Zenko, you should stand out from the crowd well enough for my eyes", Atsureki said as he fell back to speak to Sai, his voice loud enough for the man to hear, but would sound like nothing but muttering to anyone who should happen to walk by.

Pleased that the other Genin were following his orders without question, Hasu observed them carry out his commands to the letter and watched them take off one by one into the forest. Following close behind, Saiyuri Hikaru reached the edge of the forest, hoping between two trees until he reached the high traveling branches of the forest and began to leap great distances from one enormous branch to another, racing through the trees without any difficulty in keeping up the pace of the others.

As they traveled, Hikaru grew concerned that perhaps the Sensor would be able to detect his true strength, but he would be able to spin it in his advantage if needed. What he hoped for the most was that they did not run into a situation requiring a true ANBU's strength. Hikaru was sure that he could handle most Chuunin if the need arose, but whether he could effectively combat more then that, he had not yet tested the idea. In such situation, he would have to count on his cunning filling the gap. His leadership would be their greatest asset though as his experience in war had already made him an excellent field tactician raising the abilities and awareness of those he led directly as he was doing for these three.

Either way, the journey was ahead of them and they would whether it as all ninja did, knowing that anything is possible at anytime, but serving anyway for the good of their village and their leader.

Paying no notice to Zenko as she took advantage of a chance to nuzzle into him seeing as he could not withdraw or say anything of it, once the woman had granted them access, Sai bowed to the woman once again and began to move past the gates into the village. "Thank You ma'am, I'm sure we will enjoy ourselves thoroughly. I hope to see you again when we leave. Good Day."

As he passed the woman however, Sai had a sharp surge of pain race through his body, manifesting itself first as a sharp headache which caused him to wince slightly and grab his head. Feeling the burning pressure of the pain, Sai lost focus for a second, but quickly regained control, shrugging off the pain which flowed through his body making his every step agonizingly forceful. His pace slow, Sai tried to pass off the pain as a sudden headache and nothing more and continued forward, the village of Konoha opening itself up to him. To say that such pain ever dissolves would be a falsehood as his entire life was filled with endless agony tearing him apart from the inside, but the sudden surge of pain at least calmed down to it's normal state which his body was used to handling without debilitating him beyond a simple distraction. Not too long after, once they had cleared the earshot of the guards and made some progress into the streets, Atsureki slowed down to meet them and Sai was pleased that he was ready to begin.

After hearing his plan, Sai nodded silently to him and spoke without taking his glance off of his current path. "Of course, you know your duty. Be sure to visit the Hyuuga to keep up appearances and learn all you can about the village's current state and see if you can pick up on any rumors wandering the streets regarding especially strong individuals or strange happenings. Jinchuuriki tend to leave accidental marks and impressions all over a village simply by merit of their presence. I doubt you would be able to detect a Jinchuuriki specifically, but you will leave that to me. Gather all the information you can. If trouble arises, as you said, you should have no problem locating us. Stick to the story I laid out at the gates."

Picking up his pace slightly, with Zenko alongside him, Sai traveled with Atsureki for a small amount of time until they were out of sight of the gate. At this point, he and Zenko would have to take turns using their Chakra Sight ability to zone in on interesting and strange chakra signatures. He had seen Jinchuuriki before and knew what they looked like within it's sight. it would be a better gauge then most would be bale to hope for, even with specialized Doujutsu.

The guards stationed at the gates followed the large, cloaked man and his brown stallion with amused eyes as they emerged from a wide alley admist other merchants leaving the city now that the winter season had passed. While the rider could see the ghost of a smile tugging at the corners of their lips, they were blind to the intense smoldering look he shot at the beneath the cowl of his hood. With a light nudge of his knee, the rider brought his horse to a stop at the small stand and easily tossed a note onto the desk. The watchmen recorded the time and date of his departure and stamped the note before storing in a growing pile of papers.

The rider analyzed their actions with a critical eye and smirked, yet again, at the seemingly lax nature of Konoha's security. He desperately wished for another way to leave the village without having to interact with the gate guards but the only lead he had was an underground network of sewers that weren't available to the public.

Once he received the okay from the guards, the rider tightened the straps of the saddle that held an array of small packages and equipment. Two heavy packs contained the majority of the gear though they were cleverly concealed amongst mundane hunter-merchant equipment. The only weapon clearly displayed on his person was a bow and a quiver of arrows, though the saddle itself concealed half a dozen kunai and twice as many shuriken.

The stallion snorted in impatience and stomped its foot while Enro reassured himself all his equipment was properly stored. He applied pressure to the horses side, just as he was taught many years ago, and the muscular beast surged into motion. Plumes of dust and gravel were thrown into the air as the stallion galloped into the depths of the surrounding forest. Streams of air tugged at the riders cloak but his cowl was not disturbed, concealing his scarred visage from sight...not that any normal passerby would have been able to get a good description of him, flying across the forest floor as he was.
