After his first attack, Chervil could only watch as more and more rose up to join the fray, mouths open in shrieks of hunger and eyes blazing with hatred. He saw Eirian and what seemed almost like a blur of black, but by the time he could get anywhere close, the blur had vanished. He wanted to get a closer look at the injury that had been inflicted, but there was just too much to look out for as friend and foe alike swarmed every which way. He settled for staying close and hoping to fend off any more of the creatures.

A sudden flicker of movement caught his eye, and he felt the blood drain from his face as he saw a familiar figure rushing at him, the once calm and collected visage now twisted in anger, the voice that had once asked him about the goings-on and telling him that he could come in handy here in spite of everything, now surely lost in a feral snarl, had he been able to hear over all of this din. He tried to step aside from the pointed horns, but a sudden shift in the crowd seemed to hide them from view, and when they cleared again, she had moved on past. Counting it as a blessing, Chervil stood his ground beside Eirian, looking for a chance to strike back.

Raa had tried so hard to keep himself hidden, to try and avoid putting himself in the cross fire. Yet, somehow, by doing so, he had attracted the attention of one of the generals who seemed to come out of nowhere, a sharp, seering pain catching him off guard, causing him to loose his balance as he sunk to one knee. His arm was hurt, though not too badly, thankfully. Had he been scratched? Raa lifted his head and peered around him, his wings flaring out as he tried to spot his assailant.

Just as Raa gave up on his search, the hybrid began to rise to his feet, returning his face forwar --

"Umph--!! Raa was sent crashing back against the wall he had previously tried to hide against, head hitting it with an audible crack! If he had felt dizzy and disoriented before, he felt even more so now.

The boy blinked heavily, trying to refocus his vision, but before the haze could clear Raa felt something clamp down around his neck, letting out a high rasping noise as his hands instinctively reached up to grip at the source.

Wait. Raa ... Raa knew these hands. He had held them fiercely hours ago, admired them many times before.

"E-Ella ... ?" Raa croaked out, his vision finally clearing, met with the face of his beloved. Her eyes were like the other's now, the red dots glowing and looking almost sunken. It was like she was possessed by violence.

Just as it was getting hard to breath, Ella let go of his throat, and Raa took in a sharp breath, laying a hand over his chest as it heaved rapidly, trying to catch his breath.

She had let go? Maybe what they said wasn't true, after all. Maybe she wasn't entirely gone, maybe Ella could be reasoned with!

"Ella! I'm here!" He tried to get to his knees, but the blow to the back of his head was throwing off his balance, and he quickly slumped back down. "I don't care ... you're still in there. I'll find a way to save you, I promise ... Ella, can you hear me?"

Raa had no idea just how foolish he was being, but love could do that to a person. It wasn't until she lunged a second time that Raa had realized his mistake.

Raa couldn't believe what was happening as he cried out, Ella's teeth sinking in to his neck. He tried to push her off, pleading with her, but it only made the pain from the bite worse. It was almost like trying to remove a leech that refused to let go. "Ella, you're hurting me --- !" he managed to blurt out, but it was no use.

He didn't want to use his amulet on her ... no, he couldn't ... but if he died, how could he help her? Raa was conflicted.

Arabelle recovered from her first failure and cast her gaze around. It was chaos everywhere, but the overwhelming urge to feed would soon override her caution. Her eyes then lit upon an Elf. Instantly the rage inside her reached a boiling point, and it wasn't even a matter of thought. Arabelle sprang towards the Elf like an arrow loosed from a bow.

She stuck with a solid impact, unlike her abortive attack before. She lashed out with sharp nails and sank her teeth into flesh, feeling blood seeping into her mouth. She felt her injured shoulder give and with a soft snarl of frustration she jumped back just in case the Elf fought her.

Her mouth met with nothing, causing her to growl, and shake her head. How could he betray her like that? Certainly a good friend would have permitted her what she wanted. Snarling, the small Fey stood up.

He was gone. She let out a frustrated scream, and used her wings to get a better view of the situation ... Where had he gone?

While still keeping an eye on the Imp, Liam activated his healing amulet and directed it towards the Fallen. The wounds they had received seemed to be healing, and a powerful relief swept through Liam. This kid would be okay. Whatever it was these creatures were, it looked like only some of them had dangerous bites.

Not that there was anything "safe" about the way any of them were biting. Speaking of biting...

Liam felt a sharp n** to his tail and almost yelped. He reflexively thrashed his tail a bit, trying to dislodge whatever irritation was biting him. He was almost indignant, actually. Seriously, his tail?!

HOW THE 0/5 MECHANIC WORKS

Alright since there has been some confusion on how this mechanic works I am going to try to explain this as simply as possible- and with many examples.


A 0 or 5 opens a character to both attack someone, and to be attacked. Anyone can take advantage of these rolls, however they must quote their target when they attack them or their attack will not be counted as valid.



Ganymede rolls a 10. This means that he can attack AND that he can be attacked.
--> Ganymede quotes Arabelle, an infected character. He has used his attack.
--> Arabelle quotes him back and attacks him. He has been attacked. This roll is no longer usable for attacks on either side.
--> Both Ganymede and Arabelle must wait 1 hour to attack someone again.

Arabelle rolls a 6. This doesn't end in 0 or 5, so Arabelle is not vulnerable to be attacked.
--> She notices that Ganymede rolled a 10 in another post that is no older than 24hours and quotes him. She can still attack him because he rolled a 10, her roll of a 6 does not matter.
--> Arabelle must wait 1 hour to attack someone again.

Ganymede rolls a 5.
--> He quotes Arabelle and attacks her. That attack has been used.
--> Ella, another infected character, sees this 5 before Arabelle and quotes for an attack. Ganymede has been attacked and this roll is no longer usable for attacks on either side.
--> Both Ganymede and Ella must wait 1 hour to attack someone again.

Arabelle rolls a 50
--> She quotes Jericho for an attack and does a total of 4 damage, because she also got a bonus for rolling a 50.
--> Liam sees that she rolled a 0 and quotes her with an attack. Arabelle can no longer be attacked or do any attacking.
--> Both Arabelle and Liam must wait 1 hour to attack someone again.

Ganymede rolls a 16
--> He quotes a General an attacks them. He can attack a General at any time even if he doesn't roll a 0 or 5.
--> He must wait another 1 hour to attack someone again.

Phobos rolls a 3
--> He can attack anyone anyway, as Generals do not need to roll a 0 or 5 to attack someone.
--> He can attack 2 people in 1 hour, but must wait another hour before attacking again.




Q:
What happens if I'm quoting someone for rolling a 0 or 5, and I roll a 0/5 in my reseponse?

A:
You are using their post's "vulnerable to attack" slot, not your own attack slot. You can now quote someone else and attack them. Link the post in which you rolled a 0 or 5 in the new post. This helps us keep track of it.

Q:
How long is a roll valid for?

A:
Rolls expire after 24 hours. So if you have not attacked someone or been attacked within 24 hours of rolling a 0/5, you've either wasted an opportunity or managed to scoot by unscathed. ; )
