((No, it is not. :/ It is in RPR. One in Haven is called Must labyrinth >.>))

Minatsuki crawled out of the crowd, closer to the core of all the commotions, which was a lot easier when Asako had landed, creating another parting wave of crowds.

Minatsuki scuffed at the man who seem to be the leader of the group, crossing her arms in front of her.

((Uhhh... Sorry about my absent behavior everyone. ))

Kin who was swaying lazily back and forth as if to appear like a meager drunk, was becoming rather annoyed by the bright lights of the shining festival. Happy and fun things never really appealed to Kin. They only bothered and annoyed him to the point where he wanted nothing but to destroy the happiness of others that which he could never have had when he was younger.

Approaching the North Gate entrance, Kin was finally fed up with all the loud and festivous happenings within the city. The meeting spot he assigned himself with Sai meant squat to him now. The urge to be away from everything was more important. Kin sat down and leaned against a stone wall on the outside of the left side of the North Gate.

As Kin leaned his head back so it pressed against the cold stone, Vix revealed himself to the world and then as quickly as he appeared, he slithered his way up a nearby tree just a couple paces away from Kin. He apparently felt the same way about the loud bustling of the city.

((Sorry for my absence))

Aiva took a deep breath before speaking. “I’m Aiva.” She said curtsying slightly, “Although I’m glad that you are apologizing to me, you should be apologizing to Umbra.” Upon hearing his name Umbra went up to the two.

She said firmly.

Umbra didn’t object. Although he didn’t want to accept an apology from Damiano he would accept one (If Damiano even gave him one) so Aiva would be satisfied.

"Your cooperation and hospitality are appreciated, Brantalis." Aruhl said using false tact but forgetting to added the Sages title at the same time. "It would have been a shame to have had to force our presence here unwanted. as for our reason for coming, well, we are here to observe, and examine. We are to observe the goings on of your festival, and also to examine your castle."

((Anyways, the festival should continue almost as it was. And all of our characters should go on doing whatever. I need this gathering in the courtyard broken up. Grr!))

Damiano felt a tense sensation run through him as the shade approached. He didn't like the feel of this creature's presence. Still, he had to maintain control over himself. This was neither the time nor the place to show his enmity toward the shade. He would not, however, even make a show of apologizing. Straightening himself out, Damiano shook his head and gave a regretful look. He truly did regret not being able to fully apologize to the lady mage.

"I'm afraid I can't do that, lady Aiva. Though your companion has done nothing to me, personally, my order has suffered at the hands of another shade. Though you may not agree with this, it has become a part of me, the enmity I feel toward your companion. I cannot ask for its forgiveness, but I can ask that it understand my position," Damiano paused a moment to look at the shade. The amethyst gem that hid his normal eye glinted in the dimming light as the tattooed words Maghi Anima etched into the flesh above and below his right eye seemed to glow for an instant. He would have to try and speak civilly to this creature, even if he detested it so greatly. "Know that I can never apologize to you or remove what I said from the very fabric of my being. I hope you can understand that the enmity I have for your race runs as deep as blood, and deeper. Discussing it further would be ill suited for such a festive time," he finished in a serious tone. Damiano continued to look at the shade for a few moments longer before turning back to Aiva. He was done; he had nothing more to do but to enjoy his time here. His hard gaze softened again before he spoke, "I know that was not what you wished for, but it is the best I can offer. I pray it was enough."

((So it shall be done.))

Vilya wrinkled her nose at the seemingly unpleasant exchange between Aiva and the newly met Damiano, but she liked the final words of Brantalis' battle even less.
"I'm no good at false courtesy." She whispered angrily. "It'll be really hard acting like I respect them."
From the looks the townsfolk were giving it seemed as if she was not the only one who felt this way.

Suddenly Brantalis felt a small mental pull. He shifted his gaze momentarily towards Lessir who was standing by one of the festival coordinators.
With one slight nod he signaled them to begin the next bit of the festival.
"When you feel you are ready, one of my apprentices will show you to your quarters."

Kusanagi snorted in amusement.
Before more could be said a large drum echoed from the eastern watch tower back in the town.
The townsfolk turned as one and immediately began to titter excitedly as the beat grew louder and faster.
"My friends!" Brantalis called out to the masses, taking care to look directly at the small group of combatants in particular.
"For those that are not familiar with the events of the festival I invite you to gather down the main street and make ready for one of its highlights, The Four Dragon's Parade!
A loud cheer erupted from the crowd as slowly they began to file out of the courtyard.

Tura was about to take flight when suddenly she saw Minatsuki pass through the gate and into the courtyard. Quickly she spotted Asako and told her all that had happened.

With that Tura disappeared into the darkness.

She re-appeared like a shadow (and just as silent) close to Kin and related the same message to Vix in his tree.
She said delicately before she turned to go.

Lamen was the easiest to find. She could spot Simurgh from a mile off in a thunderstorm and carefully landed beside the great bird.
She related for a third time the happenings of that early evening and advised Simurgh to follow her to the other companions.

Asako jumped slightly when Tura had began talking to her, but frowned slightly after hearing all of what she had to say.

Asako called out to Tura as she disappeared into the shadow.

Minatsuki turned back to Asako, holding a bowl of jelly that one of the townsfolk just gave her.

Chirping happily, Asako wobbled behind Minatsuki, pushing people aside for better walking.

((Thenks, Stoic. n-n T'was fun!))

Lamen spotted the black gryphon who had spoken with her own companion before, heading their way from the small commotion up ahead. Her own reaction was overshadowed by that of the immediately surrounding villagers, which upon hearing the story about the Imperial troops erupted into annoyed moans and sighs. Simurgh scattered again, leaving the game with an apology to all the other mage-bonded creatures, and those who had stood around her jumped back in shock and confusion as half of her came after Vilya.
Lamen inquired, walking far behind already, accompanied by a few birds.
Simurgh replied.
The mage agreed,
The two were quietly thinking to themselves when they finally arrived to the meeting area.

((I'm sorry, everyone! I'm sorry for the hideously long delay in making a post. I've been sick the past few days and then had do some family stuff when I got better.))

"I know what you mean." Sai whispered back. "They've only been here for a few minutes, and I already can't stand their arrogance..."

Aruhl bowed to Brantalis in mock courtesy when they where done speaking. He and his men did not move from were they stood while waiting for a Brantalis' apprentice to take them into the castle. Then they could begin their mission.

((Gah, such a small post too... I'm dissapointed in myself. Just so that everybody knows, If I'm gone for more than a couple days or if I say that I will be gone for any amount of time then Griffin is in charge.))

(( sweatdrop ))

"Excuse my rudeness." Brantalis said carefully, "but I must supervise my festival and attend to my previous guests." With that he moved away, leaving his apprentice (A young man with straw-colored hair) to escort the Guard to their rooms.
"This way please." Hogan bowed and lead them through the tall double doors and to the back of the great hall. From there it was a maze of corridors and stairways but steadily they climbed up to one of the side towers and it was there, out on the battlements Hogan stopped.
The tower looked old. It's ancient stonework was falling apart in some places and it seemed nothing like the bright marble-work of the rest of the castle.
Hogan's companion was a smallish forest dragon, built somewhat like a large cat. It perched on one of the stone gargoyles crouched over the roof and seemed almost a part of the architecture.
With a large brass key Hogan unlocked the tower and handed the key to the commander of the guard. He pushed the door open and lit the torches inside with a simple spell.
The tower clearly had not been used (or cleaned) in months if not longer.
"This tower is part of the original castle, it was specially designed for military units staying here during...uncertain times. It is yours until you leave, please, enjoy your stay."
He bowed again before turning to go.

Brantalis came over to the little group of combatants and watched the members of the Guard leave before he spoke.
"Do not let their presence unsettle you. The festival will go on as planned, still I encourage you to avoid them, their reputation does not leave them in a very friendly stead and I must say they try to live up to it."

"No kidding." Vilya shook her head. "Brantalis if there's anything we can do, just name it. I don't have a lot of admiration for pigs like that captain of theirs."
She caught sight of Lamen and Minastuki and waved them over.
Tura gave her mind a little nudge before appearing out of the darkness, her feathers looked blacker than ever.
"Personally I'd like to find out what they're up to." Vilya said quietly so Brantalis wouldn't hear her.
But Brantalis' attention was taken up with Quellar who had called to him from the gate.

He said gruffly.
"Well then, shall we be of?" Brantalis turned cheerfully and with that followed after his dragon.

((Okay, Vilya's the girl, Tura's the gryphon.))

((Lulz, are you going to mention that every post? xDD Although I actually think it would really help, haha. xD))

Seeing the troops enter the castle unaccompanied by the Dragon Sage, an idea formed itself in Lamen's head. Brantalis seemed to have planned to leave them to be "alone" and "unsupervised"- letting the Imperial Guard fall into a sense of privacy and safety. Sure enough, Hogan walked out of the entrance by himself. She took the hint, if there was one.

A sparrow on her shoulder chirped in amusement, while other small and inconspicuous birds flew towards the stone windows and chimneys of the building.

Simurgh's many bodies found the tower quickly enough, and a dozen or more infiltrated it with ease, perching in the roof, gaps between rocks, and on windowsills just outside. She would hear every single word spoken in that place with little difficulty and relay it to Lamen.

Back on the festival grounds, Lamen nodded calmly to Vilya, indicating that she had seen her signal. The grey mage strode over quietly, and then produced a rare smirk when close enough.
"We'll find out what they want to do here soon enough- many little pairs of ears are paying them a visit. In the meanwhile, shall we sit somewhere to discuss? It seems that most of my bonded is too busy to play mage games now."

Simurgh replied, indifferent. She was recalling seven years ago, when Lamen had only just bonded with her. They used to eavesdrop on the lectures and conversations of as many teaching mages and experienced travelers as possible, allowing them to absorb tenfold the information, in a fraction of the time- explaining why Lamen managed to convince her family and start traveling almost immediately, despite her young age. She had had all the magical knowledge needed to make it on her own.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 06, 2008 9:47 am

"That would be a good plan Lamen..." Vilya smiled uneasily, "if it were during the day, but don't you think the Guard is going to find birds active at night a little suspicious?" She scratched the back of her head and looked up to where Simurgh had flown.
Tura sighed.

((Short post..I sorry. ><))

((Lulz, I thought it was day. Well, no worries. Nobody ever goes to that tower, right? It's logical that the unused territory would be occupied by something else, then.))

"Don't worry- that tower is old. There are other birds spending the night there than those of Simurgh, and they are sharing their sleeping places with her- of course, she's only feigning. ...So, if it does not bother you, shall we sit?" Lamen gestured towards a bench, not wishing to stand for too long. Her legs were getting tired.

((Short post time! Huzzah! xD)
PostPosted: Mon Apr 07, 2008 5:51 am

Vilya's uneasy smile turned into a genuine one. "That's true, and I'm sure Simurgh can make it look believable."
Vilya looked toward the bench, then strode over to her gryphon companion.
"I've got a better idea, why don't you let Tura fly you down to the village so we can see the parade.
Tura said sarcastically.
Vilya chuckled as Tura turned sideways and lowered her wing.
"I'll follow you on foot. Tura can only carry one at a time."
Tura commented to what remained of Simurgh.
"Come on you guys!" Vilya called excitedly to the party as she jogged ahead.
Tura rolled her eyes.

“No, it’s not enough, but because of the time and place, I will not hold anything against you.” Aiva said, only a slight trace of contempt in her voice, “If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go enjoy the festival.” With that she and Umbra left. They walked through the streets in silence for a while until Aiva broke it. “Help me onto the roof.” She instructed Umbra, ducking into an alley. Umbra nodded and followed her. He helped her onto the roof, and then got on it himself. Aiva sat down, watching the people below her. She preferred t watch games and festivities rather than participate in them. Pherhaps something interesting will happen. With the tension between the towns people and the members of the Guard, it seemed highly likely.
