Faustite had been anticipating the purification — the moment he could be free to live without his energy being sucked away by his youma half. He had been telling himself, conditioning himself, to accept it for all it was, for all it could be, for any cost still granted him the possibility of being alive. And even if they couldn't replace the organs he had lost to the fire inside him, it would be a quicker death than the one that threatened him even now.
He didn't know what a purification should sound like. Didn't know what a purification should look like. But when he heard Heliodor shout his attack to the clearing, when he felt that he was unchanged and still burning up, he looked for the boy with bald mortification. He stared as water launched up around Lysithea an attack with which Faustite was intimately familiar. He knew how it should burn. Knew how it could disrupt her concentration if the court wanted to finish this imminently, as he had wanted.
Then it cascaded. There was Fafnir, following up with his toxic smoke. There was Mizuki, springing from hiding to stop them. Encke threw magic, Nectaris stood guard, Ganymede emerged from ******** knows where to tackle Jet with her cat (Lucasta), Albite and Tama appeared in the thick of it, Aquamarine was barking orders, Cymophane was a youma, Taenite sent fire storms ravaging through the clearing, and the court (Lysithea, Malus, Varuna, Adria) shielded themselves with a silvery bubble.
There was so ******** much going on, and he could do nothing about any of it.
Faustite didn't know what the ******** was going on. He didn't know how to react. His countenance passed through so many different shades of consternation, rage, and desperate confusion that he could no longer express the tumult inside of him. He looked up at Lysithea, who scolded him so, who promised that she would have let him do with his life as he wanted. He looked at Encke, who stayed by his side.
He did not look at Skoll, though he heard her offer of support. He knew nothing of her, yet. And for each labored breath he took, more auras — of both types — erupted on the scene.
"What the ********," he rasped, nearly breathless. "I didn't —" His voice broke into a pained yelp as his fire flickered in, burst, and flickered away again. Ash fell in delicate clumps from his eyes, blinked away by long eyelashes. "Ask for this —"
"No more time," he whispered as his nails grew longer.
Varuna could feel the magic they were being barraged with, but it was just magic she told herself. She didn’t want to see the purple smoke enveloping herself or her team, making her feel weary and sick. She didn’t want to see how close the funnel of flames came to them, or the scalding water as it thrashed them.
She kept her hand on the wand, refusing to leave Lysithea’s side. She reached out to wrap an arm around Adria’s waist, not letting him get pulled away, either.
Either they would finish what they started and help Faustite, or Lysithea would realize that letting him go was the only way. Varuna wasn’t particularly invested either way, but they’d obviously been set up.
She was relieved when the magic that formed a dome around them and pushed out gave them a bit of a reprieve. But it would only last for so long.
“Lysi,” Varuna nodded to the way Faustite’s nails looked like they were starting to lengthen as he continued to have his fire fluctuate.
“Now or never. We can try--”
If everyone gave them enough space. Ganymede and the others were attacking, that was good. But if they weren’t careful they would be outnumbered.
And worn down. Varuna already felt exhausted. She was in pain from being attacked. Her throat hurt, her arms hurt from burns - both fire and water. Could they still manage a purification? Or did the Negaverse attacking mean that Faustite lost his chance?

Tama, Guardian Cat (Turning into a human)
Tama transformed into a human just in time to see a type of magic he had never seen before.
What was it?
He was fascinated, if not enthralled. He needed to know more about this. Needed that knowledge of magic he had never known.
But then the flair of a second royal took him back to the task at hand. Well, Jet’s got a fight one his hands. Then who was saving Faustite?
The Mauvian, with his added height in his bipedal form, could now see his general.
He did not look good.
“Someone do… something.” He pleaded to Albite, to anyone.. even Lysithea if he had to. But there was no way he could get past the court’s magic as he was. It would push him back, no matter what form he took.
He could see Faustite’s nails grow longer than his own claws and knew their time was over. It was purification or bust.

While Amaris was choosing to blend into the woods, to geocache in civilian guise and stay anonymous, Richard was taking the course of action he'd already asked after. He lounged near Viatrix as Basiluzzo, matching her focus with his own. He was primarily sensing Order auras, but could--from this distance, anyway--sense a Chaos one that he presumed was probably Faustite, given the situation.
He almost dared to hope that this operation was going off without complications. Without a hitch, even. Sensing the energy of a princess--he assumed Ida, until he saw Encke's text--helped some of the tension ease out of his shoulders. He visibly paused, eyebrows lifting in surprise as he read the text and read it again. There was another princess, but Encke wasn't naming them. Did that mean he didn't know who they were, or that he was assuming Basiluzzo would know?
Maybe Lysithea's court had decided not everyone was needed? Faustite had pulled Encke and Nectaris in on his own, so maybe that was all--
He jumped to his feet, Viatrix's look entirely unnecessary under the weight of the chaos auras pressing in on Basiluzzo's senses. There was an ambush after all.
"We should just go!" he called back to the other two, already on the move.
He had dared to hope to the contrary, but knew damn good and well that they'd made a very tempting target for Chaos. He was already typing out his message with muscle memory and only the occasional split second glance.
to Kerberos, Anakeion, Basiluzzo, Skoll, Cybele, Viatrix, Encke, Nectaris, Illyria, and Ida
moving in closer
What else was he supposed to do if the court was under attack?
Even if they were attacked by so many Chaos people spawning in that Basiluzzo lost track of Encke for a moment until he saw the bright plasma burst on the periphery of his focus. He had the split-second thought that maybe they couldn't handle this, but quickly shoved it away. Even as he felt the pressure of a general-sovereign's aura, it wasn't going to help anything to despair at what they were up against. The general-sovereign wasn't his immediate concern anyway, as Basiluzzo was pretty sure the princess that launched herself at him was going to be more interesting than a squire would be.
His immediate concern was Faustite and the people standing guard near him--Nectaris and Skoll. Encke too, obviously, but Faustite was the primary focus for him. He saw a general teleport in, rapier drawn, and forced himself to focus away from Encke again. He wasn't going to stop a general without backup, anyway.
The bubbles took him by surprise, but he recovered quickly.
Focus, focus.
Eyes on the prize, and all.
Even if the prize was a besieged Faustite.
He caught a flash of white and green as Cybele ran to help Ganymede.
Basiluzzo skidded to a stop, throwing up grass and dirt. He'd apologize to Skoll and Nectaris later, but for now, he had to be backup.
Even if it meant he put his back to the man who'd once pulled his soul out of his body and stared down those approaching them.
Whatever was going on up there wasn't supposed to happen. Which didn't take a genius to figure out. Strix rolled their eyes, palmed their henshin pen, and powered up if only for the sake of having access to their tablet -- people were probably too preoccupied with everything else to notice one sparky first-level aura. Quickly, they tapped out a message to Jadarite:
stari_magax
if we haven't moved, hold position?
She was still both their boss in general and specifically supposed to be calling the attack; Pax wasn't moving towards that fight until she said so. If nothing else, this was already a valuable experience in that some people were just natural drama queens, even when it would've really been better if they weren't. (Strix already knew this. Not that they'd seen it in life-or-death situations before, but they did very much already know.) ---- Anakeion Squire of Castor Following Basiluzzo, protecting??? Faustite???
Even standing on tiptoes to try (emphasis on try.) and peek over Basiluzzo's shoulder and read his messages, Amaris could tell one thing in particular: that was way too much ******** s**t going on. Even from here, even without being Anakeion, Amaris could hear it -- magic and bodies crashing and people crying out, fear and rage and pain. ********. Fuuuuck. Sure, she'd assumed it'd been a trap, but this early? Someone had screwed up, and she wasn't sure which side it'd been.
She'd been planning to hang back still -- what if there were more officers in reserve? But as much as she wanted to hang back, stay safe, keep herself protected... she took on Anakeion's armor, called her staff to her hand, and grimaced at the blinding aura of three princesses.
And Ida was still around, but maybe not full Princess yet, so that made four. Goddamn. Well, given four of them, statistically one of them had to get the purification off, right?
Anakeion hated hated haaaated calling things like this. Usually she was wrong. With a situation that was this much of a mess, if she wanted things to go according to "plan" (not her plan) (also not that anyone had asked her), she needed to intervene. "If anyone asks me why the hell I'm here, I'm representing Castor or something," she called back vaguely towards Viatrix, scooting her a** after Basiluzzo at maximum speed. Probably nobody would. But she liked having that prepared, for the 0.05% chance anyone cared.
Man, Faustite looked like hell warmed over. Frozen over? He looked ******** bad. There wasn't really a way to sugarcoat it, even in her own head. She skidded in next to Basiluzzo, tossing her head a little like a horse, and put her back to Faustite. This was really not how Anakeion had pictured herself spending her night, but beggars could, unfortunately, not be choosers. Could they?? Wait, yeah, she was choosing right now --
"If you ******** want your boy to live," Anakeion hollered, "back the ******** off and let the Princesses work, or he's going to die before you can take him back."
Whatever crazy magic Lysithea and her guys were doing? Not Anakeion's concern, thanks, she could only manage like one and a half priorities at a time and they were both currently full.
Kerberos had to admit: he was a little excited to know there was another Princess. Lysithea was new to him--he wasn't entirely sure he'd met her before--but it was still another bright star int he universe. Another person with the power of purification, and the might of Royal magic.
"Good. The more Royals we have, the better." From every possible perspective, really.
But as soon as he felt the power of a General-Sovereign, he felt something cold settle in his chest.
"Yeah, that's not good." He stood up, and gave Illyria a brief nod. "Thanks for your help," he said. "I'll make sure Ida gets back in one piece."
With that promise given, he leapt off after Ida, moving quickly towards the fray.
It was bad. That much, he could tell. The Negaverse was here, Ganymede was fighitng Jet,, and the woman with wings--Lysithea--had summoned some kind of powerful, unfamiliar magic.
He approached the magic with care, but--perhaps because he wasn't attacking--it didn't slam into him, and he could head towards Faustite, who looked.
Bad. Really, really bad.
There were people lining up to protect him--he recognized Encke and Nectarus--and there was very much sometihng that Kerberos could do. Or, at least, he hoped so. His magic would be useless, he was sure, but one thing was always useful.
Energy.
"Princess," Kerberos said, voice gentle as he approached the woman, and her--group? team?, sheltered under her wings, "I don't want to get in your way while you work, but--I think Faustite needs help, if he's gonna make it through this."
This would not be the first time he'd passed energy in a situation that was arguably very dangerous for him. It would also likely not be the last. Had he learned absolutely zero things from Lyndin's magical backlash scarring his arm? Yes. And if this hurt him, too, he would also learn absolutely nothing. It would always be worth it to keep reaching out his hand.
"Hey, Faustite," he said, and he knelt down and reached out, taking a clawed hand in both of his and funneling energy over, "can you hear me? Is this helping?"
God, he hoped it was. Please let it be helping. Kerberos refused to kneel here and watch Faustite turn into ash, not if there was something he could do about it.

Guardian Cat Illyria - hanging back begrudgingly, shifting to human Mauvian form.
Illyria felt cold inside. Ida's gentle kiss that had been bestowed upon her head still lingered like a phantom sensation. Her gaze was solemn as her gaze tracked Ida's progress after her bonded leapt off the roof to engage in the conflict that was happening at ground level. Illyria, although blessed with good eyesight could only imagine what exactly was happening down there with all the powered auras flaring up. The large chaos aura that bloomed out of nowhere was alarming in itself and Illyria almost then and there broke promise to stay out of the battle before feeling her fur bristle.
Then she was alone. Kerberos's words of gratitude soothed Illyria's anxiety by a fraction, as did his promise to bring Ida back safely. If he was confident enough to make that promise than Illyria would stay back as planned. Although limited in what she could do, Illyria shed her feline form for that of her bipedal Mauvian form and clutched at the rooftop's ledge before staring down at the figures that were ranging back and forth in a mesmerizing, but deadly dance, "just keep everyone I care about safe, it's all I ask."
(( not expecting anyone to interact with Illyria at the moment given the pitched battle ... but she's there ))

Super Sailor Heliodor, Corrupt Senshi of Ryuto ACTIVELY: Realizing he ******** up, HARD. Unable to process much beyond the immediate vicinity. Trying to get out of range of Encke’s magic while struggling with Zuzu’s.
It didn’t take long for him to realize his blunder.
His monumental. Unforgivable. ******** Up.
It came crashing down on him the moment his attack hit the princess (Lysithea) and his focus shifted to the Faustite who was still very much a half-youma by both signature and looks. It disoriented him. Not that he expected an attack to come from his own side, but Zuzu’s magic hit him along with the powerful sense of loss. He didn’t even have time to contemplate that feeling when Encke’s magic came roaring to life around him.
He barely stopped in time before running headfirst into a barrier he was pretty damn sure he wanted no parts of by the look of that Princess and her court.
He spun, reaching out an arm to halt his brother should the other also be on a collision course. The smokey attack hinted that Fafnir had followed him into the fray. He didn’t want to see his elder brother hurt. Couldn’t handle the thought of losing him again. It pained him to even contemplate it despite the unlikelyhood the attack itself would cause any major harm. He couldn’t think straight.
Faustite was being protected by the court. Despite his blunder, it gave Helio hope that maybe, just maybe, the court and that damn royal would continue on despite the signatures that continued to flare to life around them all. There, General King Jet had also arrived with others in tow. Words were being shouted from every which direction and none of them stood out. All rolled into the general buzz of sound that made up the fight.
Another damn white moon royal by the flare of yet another oppressing ********. ********. ********> The words chanted in his head as he frantically looked to Faustite and those surrounding him and the battles that were flaring to life around him. The air continued to sizzle around him as he gasped for air completely disoriented in the bombardment of magic he took.
“Fafnir.” He coughed out as he moved to remove himself and his brother from the Knight’s magic. Wincing at the burning in his throat and lungs.
He was ill prepared for the mess he had created with his own over-anxious, emotional reaction.

Mauvian Viatrix Action: Leaving a message with her group, and then following her group, rapid transform go! Confronting Aquamarine.
Not that she ever had a chance of holding her bonded's husband back, but he was off like lightning before she even had a shot of stopping him from charging into the fray. That wasn't followed up terribly long after by Amaris--Anakeion, now--who wanted to make sure it was clear that she came as Castor's representative. Probably. Good enough of a reason as anything else, and she lifted a paw and saluted with a, "Got you," of confirmation as she ran off.
On one hand, she could let them all run off. On the other hand, with Cybele, Basiluzzo, and Anakeion all scattered, the pressure on her to hide auras had gone significantly down. She glanced toward where Harmonia was hiding before looking ahead.
Aww, hell.
She paused to clock the field as she could see it. She was fairly sure most of them had run--that was Illyria, she was pretty sure, but beyond her, Viatrix couldn't pick out anyone else. Ida was definitely moving. How many royals were here?
to Kerberos, Anakeion, Basiluzzo, Skoll, Cybele, Encke, Nectaris, Illyria, Harmonia, and Ida
Everyone's already headed over where I was, so I'm abandoning my post and following. Please stay as safe as you can, all -- too many people are spawning in. I don't know how many Chaos has, and I don't trust them not to just immediately attack us once the purification is over considering they couldn't even wait for it to finish.
And with that warning, she dashed after them, kitty paws pattering against the ground under they were no longer kitty paws and were instead human feet. All five feet of her stopped near where most of hers had ended up stationed--hovered around Faustite. Encke, himself, was being stared down by a general, and while she wasn't sure this was the best time for a kitty beam, she stomped in his direction anyway, standing out of range of that damn rapier.
Her hands itched for something else to do, including with that other corrupted senshi nearby. She regarded her claws with curiosity before nodding to Anakeion and looking up at the general once more.
"Back the hell up, maybe?"
It was not a request, and she didn't care how he regarded her because of it.
If he had talked to the Encke from even back in February, he probably would have laughed at himself and wondered what in the name of the universe and the stars and the memories of the People he was <********> doing.
As it was, now? Now he was stationed next to Faustite, offering his body for support as the flames flickered and away, as his allies assembled in front of them. His sister was telling him to get Faustite to space, or at least to somewhere else, and as the others--Skoll, his husband, Anakeion, Viatrix?--were forming a wall that seemed to be the most reasonable option. Lysithea was suggesting that perhaps Faustite just wanted to go back to his husbands, and she would have offered that opportunity, and perhaps Encke would have told Faustite he was on his own if that juncture was a possibility at the start.
And perhaps it always had been. Pendour had suggested Faustite would simply rather die, and there was something to that, too. But Faustite was still here, still saying it was too late rather than giving in--
Everyone deserved a chance if they were truly reaching for it.
He had. Encke glanced at Faustite's facial journey--this was absolutely not what he planned, at the very least, and he seemed baffled and angry and resigned all at once--and then glanced down to Faustite's hands and could almost visualize his own, mottled and green and far too long.
Kerberos arrived in front of them, and Encke offered a quirked smile as Kerberos took Faustite's hands and transferred energy to him. "He wore out pretty fast when I gave him some energy earlier," offered Encke, not as a warning or an admonishment but a head's up that he might need more. "But that's what allowed him to get over here, so maybe--"
Could Faustite the general get to that energy?
He saw the general next to him and the eternal nearby and opted to ignore them and leave it to the people in front of him. No time to consider. He nodded to Kerberos, before glancing at the one next to him. "Faustite," he bit down hard on his lip, moving to, if allowed, try to pull Faustite up and move or carry him a bit closer to the court. "Gonna try and make this easier on them--"

Sessrumnir, Knight of Jupiter Sess sneaking around to where Aquamarine is and acknowledging Viatrix and Anakeion's sentiments.
The auras that flared up weren't a surprise. They’d been expecting an ambush of some kind. It was why they’d been hiding and waiting for this moment. He hated that they’d been right about it. That they couldn’t trust anyone from the Negaverse to be truthful about what they actually want when it comes to purification. How can anyone be trusted after everything they’ve seen?
Sessrumnir nodded to Ganymede when she pointed out the General Sovereign. There was no telling him twice that Jet wasn’t worth trying to save. He knew what Jet was capable of. Had seen it. Was unable to stop it from happening.
He wasn’t sure that he liked Ganymede going after Jet with only Lucasta, but he nodded his head towards the blond General barking orders to stand down.
Stand down…? Had they ******** up? Were they waiting until the court actually used their magic or maybe another Princess revealed herself?
He cast a bemused glance at Alastor before making his way around the perimeter of where everyone was already fighting to where Aquamarine stood, doing his best to avoid any outbursts of magic along the way.
“Yeah, crawl back into the hole you came out of, maybe?” he repeated the sentiments of the others as he glared at Aquamarine, his hand on the fang by his side.

Captain Roselite Action: Moving to assist the group assisting Faustite. Real close to just babbling the whole plan to them if it means they’ll continue helping.
Roselite was immediately overwhelmed, and horrified. How had everything gone so completely wrong so quickly?
He could barely think through the haze of magic flung everywhere, words shouted and mumbled and hissed, threats exchanged, orders given and ignored. It was almost too much. He could feel himself sinking, spiraling, quaking where he stood.
Something hit him. He felt heat and shock and burning. Roselite stumbled away, seeking safety, but his gaze landed on Faustite again, surrounded by the enemy.
The enemy he’d gone to for help, who was still, in the face of deception, trying to help.
Another wave of magic spread out, originating from the Court and the bright, blinding aura of a Princess, but it did not affect Roselite. For a moment, he wondered why. Why the shock and the burning, but not this? He shook his head, tried to clear it, tried to control his breathing, too, so it wouldn’t hinder him.
When the burning stopped, Roselite stumbled forward, closer to the group assisting Faustite.
“This—...” he swallowed, struggled for words. “This wasn’t—... wasn’t how it was supposed to happen. Please...”
The words stopped. He seemed to choke on them.

So he’d teleported within range of a bunch of magic.
Oopsie.
The friendly fire of hot water hit and almost knocked Cymophane off his feet, but it was fine. It was fine. He righted himself quickly enough, rode it out for the few seconds it took to get his bearings again. He heard the next one — Fafnir hissing the words — and he was prepared to teleport away, put himself out of range until it was safe to return, but then something hit him from behind, punching the air out of his lungs.
Cymophane fell, and the rest of the magic hit — purple gas and burning air, and fire. He saw fire. Taenite must be close. Then magic burst around the Court. Cymophane had barely gotten up onto his hands and knees before he was trampled. Any smile that might have sat grotesquely on his youma face was gone by the time he was practically face down in the dirt.
He lifted himself just enough to see the Knight of Saturn.
Then Cymophane dragged in a single labored breath and shouted, “SOLNYSHKO!”

Corrupt Super Sailor Mizuki Action: Telling Lysi to save Faustite, sort of now between the Faustite Defense Squad and the court
Her magic had the effect it needed to, and Helio stumbled out of his tunnel vision. Mizuki almost wanted to slam her fist into his face, but he was stumbling back, towards Fafnir and out of the range of magic. Her lungs flared with pain as she stood there panting, the cloud of smoke and fire burning her as she breathed.
"Idiot..." she muttered through coughs. No longer bound to a singular task, the absolute crash of auras around her pressed in. Two princesses. One was tackling General King Jet. One was encased in a bubble Helio almost ran face first into. Her hand slipped past the barrier without any issue, and she raised her eyebrows.
... Did... Lysithea not see her as an enemy?
A group of senshi and knights and Roselite were helping Faustite, creating a wall of bodies between him and everyone else. Mizuki turned to the royal in the bubble, Lysithea.
"... Save him. Please. I don't..." she swallowed hard around the lump in her throat, "He's my family. Please. Even if it means you gotta take him away for a little while. Just make sure he lives." The corrupt pulled herself back together as best she could and moved to join the Faustite Defense Squad.
Course, then Cymo called to Kamacite who was standing off to the side, and she brought her arms up to shield her eyes from the incoming flare.
"CLOSE YOUR EYES!" she shouted to Lysithea and her court.

Corrupt Super Fafnir Action: Throwing Helio back out of harms way, setting off another cone of magic to catch Mizuki and anyone else he can.
Everything happened very fast then. Zuzu, or whatever the ******** her name was, appeared before his brother and lashed out with some magic he hadn’t seen before. The petals swirled around Helio, and for a moment, his attention was laser focused on the two to the exclusion of anything else. What the ******** was she doing? The little b***h was attacking someone on her side. Forget that Helio had set the ambush off early. She should have been trying to stop him, or standing beside him, or something! Not ******** hitting him with her magic.
More magic came at them, hitting in fast sucession. The air super heated, scorching his skin, before a rush of bodies slammed into them, shoving Fafnir back. Unicorns? Some barrier that was physical and not, preventing them getting closer. Other people were shouting, but it all garbled together into something unintelligible. More power signatures, more bodies, the concerned face of his brother as he tried to hold him back.
Enough was enough. Helio had ******** ruined the plan, and maybe they’d salvage something, or maybe they wouldn’t, but he did not have time right now to deal with his remorse when so much was going on. Grabbing the front of Helio’s uniform, he heaved and threw him to the side, out of harm’s way and removing him as a distraction. He needed him out of the way because his focus right now was on the little purple b***h, who was shouting… something about something. Close their eyes? Was she warning the other side? Faustite had charged him with searching out the traitor… now part of him had strong suspicions about where he should look next.
Drawing a deep breath, he let loose another cone of dark, oily smoke, aimed to catch the fleeing corrupt and anyone else in immediate area beyond the shield.
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Fafnir's Blight
Fafnir blows out a cloud of sickly purple gas that saps the energy and health of those who stumble into it. Those caught within the cone will see signs of disease on expose skin and eyes, and are significantly sickened by it as it saps their energy and health, affecting their performance. The gas can travel up to ten feet, but fades away after a few seconds. The effect can last up to 30 seconds. Breathing does not affect it, and he can use it twice per battle.
Every chance for Chaos to be removed in ‘the better way’ something fell through. He wondered how many times these people could be disappointed by the ‘almosts’ before they gave up. He was old, he’d lived with a different kind of Chaos for so long that the Negaverse was still new to him.
He couldn’t say it was worse, but the Chaos on his world had never puppeted people.
Ganymede had gone to deal with the General King, and he admired her tenacity and drive and will to do bodily harm. Lucasta was small, but ferocious. In her own way.
It was uncoordinated and sloppy. The Negaverse didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Helping Faustite? Harming him? Standing around, watching?
He didn’t know if it was one plan or many, all conjoining at once. Didn’t know what the outcome was supposed to be.
He knew what his outcome was supposed to be, though. Make sure Sessrumnir made it home and make sure he didn’t lose anyone else.
Briefly, his eyes moved to the sight of the battle, and it felt strange to not be there. He was used to rushing in and taking care of things. But, he wasn’t going to be reckless.
