Chase felt slightly guilty he hadn't spoken when he noticed tabby's confusion at him trying to silent communicate what he desired her to do. He should be better at this type of thing at this point of time, but in truth this was about as new as speaking for him in regards to others. Social interactions were still not his strong point, even after his encounter with the social butterfly not too long ago. 'My words...are unworthy in this situation. No dire circumstance present for me to risk it being rejected.' He thought to himself silently. While perhaps a bit illogical, it was how his mind viewed his speaking. Pointless, something to be ignored, a waste. He had only resorted earlier to speaking because of the circumstance and someone needing to take control so that they could survive. Even now, requesting her help with rope, almost made him feel guilty alone. He could maybe pull them up on his own without help, so who was he to ask Tabby for help in the matter? But his more logical side knew it would make things faster and more efficient. Two people pulling had far more chance of success and less room for error than one. Thankfully, Tabby would figure out what he meant without forcing him to speak and happily took her own position with her paracord. Chase was just glad helped him without hesitation once she figured things out. He wasn't entirely sure how to classify her...but she was good, in a way.

His eyes would travel down to the pair below at this stage, awaiting for them to tie widget up and get out, it seemed some kind of discussion was going on? He was unsure as he only began to really focus on making out their conversation between each other now, but they were close enough that he could make out a good deal of it. He would hear, very clearly, the Lioncourt mention they found something and wanted to take it up. This intrigued Chase as he tried to study whatever it was they were messing with, but due to lack of light even with his faunus vision it was hard to visualize exactly what it was. 'If this area had been created by grimm, what could have been buried here and its original purpose?' He wondered to himself, intrigued. Being so deep underground and accessed by accident, found in a tunnel of sorts made by grimm...there were many questions Chase now had. His usual sense of caution was reasoned away by circumstance for it, as he doubted it was a trap. With all the clear tunneling by grimm, a trapped item like that should've triggered a while ago. And with it so far underground, in an only recently discovered cavern that was inaccessible before...well he doubted that was its purpose. Caution was always wise, but curiosity was winning over Chase's mind.

However, as the Lioncourt asked for assistance it seemed widget did not think it was a good idea. While she made valid points that it could be a burden for them, and its purpose was unknown, she seemed a bit too sure it would be their downfall. She didn't seem to consider that, should it be a burden on them, they could always discard the object to boost their chances of survival. For all they were aware, leaving it there could cause it to be a detriment now that it was discovered. Ignorance was not something that should be allowed for the time being, and even just moving it up here could allow them to figure out what it does. Perhaps, since it was the only piece of technology they had seen here thus far, it survived so long for a reason. While certainly a risk, it was nowhere near the guaranteed negative Widget seemed to make it out to be. 'The potential benefit to at least trying outweighs the risk.' Chase thought to himself, as they were at a point of relative calm. No grimm were actively hunting them as far as they knew, and they only had one way to go. This was their best shot to be successful on this mission after all had gone wrong. Especially given that they were no longer on their original path, so who knows where they would come out. The only reason Chase was certain they would was that they had enough of an air pocket to breathe yet and hadn't felt strained. Before Chase could speak, the rabbit spoke up. He had a solid reason that it could be a sign of similar technology down here, and if there was more they would need this as proof. Perhaps someone up there could also determine if it was worth it or not, so resources were invested wisely. 'We were trusted with this task, for whatever reason. We may as well prove the trust was not misplaced.' He silently thought to himself. Even if they may not be the ones to find a path to atlas, at least they would have something to show for all their struggling to survive. Chase would nod at his words while looking down to the Liouncourt. "I...agree. We can't...let all this...have been for nothing." He would say, voice much less commanding than earlier and much less confident too. More so due to his nervousness at speaking again, as they were probably tired of him making decisions. But as he did speak he gestured to all of them, the wounded and non wounded alike. He would even shoulder the burden of dragging the object if they ran out of gravity dust, though he did not say so for now.

As Chase awaited to see what would happen, ready to bring them up with whatever was decided, he would look to the rabbit as he apologized for no paracord and not being strong. The rabbit had been very helpful so far, helping in their initial fall, and to kill the death stalker once he had recovered from Skylar's disastrous scream. 'We all have our own strengths and weaknesses.' Chase thought to himself silently. The rabbit seemed good at thinking on his feet at the least, which had been a lot of help on this mission so far. Chase was unsure what to do for the rabbit though. If he could not pull the rope and had no paracord of his own, it would be wasted effort to find one for him to try or force him to pull. But Chase wanted to make the rabbit feel more useful at the least. Looking around briefly, his eyes looked to the only way in or out then back to him. Remembering how sensitive his hearing was. "You've...helped enough...already. But...if you want...you can keep a...lookout for us...in case anything comes?" Chase would say quietly to the rabbit faunus, not making eye contact to him but clearly speaking to him. His words held gratitude for the rabbit, and the latter part was more an offer if he desired than anything. He didn't want to make the guy do anything he didn't want to, and didn't want to seem ungrateful for all the rabbit did. Whatever the response was, his attention would soon focus back on the ones down there. Ready to pull up widget, and hopefully the item along with her, he would do so as soon as he was told to do so by the Lioncourt. He also hoped they would decide quickly, as he would be needing blood very soon.

                                                          out. of. choices.

XXXSo Widget was opposed to the idea. Yui couldn't blame the girl, but she could oppose the opposition. In reality, she made several strong points that adviced against the extraction of such a foreign object. It was a mysterious material that was buried beneath the earth, only to be unearthed by the recent activity. If something was to go wrong, they'd have to be prepared for the concequences to come, as they were the only ones capable of handling themselves. As well, one team leader had been acting in the background of things, not so much contributing to the leadership aspect, while the other leader was out for the count. It was up to them. And perhaps due to her own personal upbringing, Yui may have been one of the most qualified to act in terms of a standing leader. So while Widget went on with her reasons, she took each with a grain of salt as she started to take a closer observation to her surroundings.

They were already separated, stranding from the other half of their group after a mysterious explosion before the unearthing of hundreds of grimm. Two large deathstalkers that opened the path to this cave, as well as hundreds of ravagers that poured from the depths of hell it seemed. Upon their entry into this segment of the cave, a boulder collapsed, which chain reacted to another collapse that unearthed this drop-off, pulling both Widget and herself into it. The patterns of these caves were irregular, clearly not made by man, nor natural erosion. They had a particular pattern that showed they were carved out, likely by subterranean grimm. The few that come to mind are mostly insectoid, being Death Stalkers and the fabled worms of the desert that one of her relatives had encountered. Another, was a more reptilian grimm that lived their lives in darkness. Creeps. Even the pit they were in was irregular, likely being formed through a similar means. That, with the recent obstructions, the likely hood that this object had been planted here for them to find was seeming slim. Still, it was an odd object that had mysterious properties. While it could have been a trap, most would surely been triggered by now. If it was activated by aura, then it was likely that her using dust would've also triggered it. Yui continued to mill over her thoughts, this time, with interference from both Ren and Chase. Neither of them thought they should let it go, that they've come too far. Chase, though he was certainly quiet on the matter, even voiced being able to pull it. ... They really have come too far to not have anything to show for it. They were separated from the main path, and aside from their lives, they should have something for their efforts. Something to show their mission wasn't a complete waste. Even if their contributions didn't take them down the path to uncovering the key to pushing back the grimm, perhaps this rune, or lost piece of technology could be the start of something bigger. They were scouts, they were explorers, and in this moment, excavators.

                                                          That was it, then.

"We've had our backs forced up against the wall. We've fought tooth and nail so far, but we've continued to push forward. We're in hostile environment, but we were the ones selected to come here. We're looking for something to show that the efforts in our excursion weren't in vain. I believe this object may have been buried, and uncovered, by the tests of time and grimm that have come in passing. With that collapse, it's unlikely that any explorer will ever reach this point again. We need to take a risk, we need to bring something back. Even if its simply bringing it up to determine if it's worthwhile or too hazardous to take. I believe working together, even if we run out of gravity dust, we can alternate on who's bearing its weight until we make progress. My dust will allow us to lift it out of here, and Ren's eclair can be applied sparsely in order to reduce its weight. It won't be weightless at that point, but the burden won't be near as straining. And... If our environment won't allow it, then we'll leave it as deemed necessary. I won't rule out the possibility of it being a trap, nor that it may contain dangers we have yet to see. But... The entirety of our careers is based around facing these obstacles. It appears by vote, we may be moving it either way, but we will be ready."

Before tying the object away, Yui would pull the cord free before offering it to Widget. "We'll send you up first. They're ready to pull you. Drop the cord when you've made it safely. I'll tie it up, and help it get elevated. That way if the gravity dust expires, you're not at risk of falling with it." Yui was trying to reassure her. Yui was worried that disturbing the object could have unwanted results, and that was another reason that she wanted to send Widget up first. If something were to happen the moment they started lifting, she wanted to be the one that paid the price, because it was her idea and determination to get it out of here. Once Widget was ready, she'd signal for Chase and Tabby to help the girl climb out. Then, once Widget herself made it out of the pit, Yui would begin tying the object away once again, in a perpendicular fashion in order to anchor it the best she could. It still held a faint purple glow, showing that the dust was still applied. It would diminish soon if they weren't careful. "Ren, when I send this up, I want you to have your gravity eclair ready. If Chase and Tabby start to struggle, you need to pour some of it over the edge. I'm uncertain of how much longer my dust will last." Assuming that everything followed her word of command, they'd be ready in a few short moments to finally try and hoist this mystery item out of here. Once it was elevated enough, she herself intended to fly up with it, offering support as she could. "I'm ready whenever you are."

Widget avoided touching the object except to turn it once she was certain it wasn't attached to anything, using her tail to do so. When she looked back up, Yui was still looking at her and her mouth was moving.
She pulled her scroll back out and turned on the speech to text and caught about the last quarter of what Yui had said, including the plans for extraction from the pit. When she was finished, Widget tapped it gently with the very tip of her stinger.
"I suggest we be careful still, even more so now. I think this thing is a container of some sort. You probably wouldn't see it even if it was well-lit in here, but, there's a ton of extremely small grooves all over it. It's probably air-tight, maybe even pressurized. We should probably keep our masks ready. Even if it isn't toxic, we have no clue how long it's been here and so, it could potentially have a microorganism like bacteria or virus that we haven't been exposed to or anyone for that matter in a very long time. So, it still could be dangerous if it opens.." She deactivated her semblance and made sure her goggles were in good shape, ready to be put back on. She did feel better with the plan of her going up first and approached the rope. She made a trio of nooses at the end, slipping the topmost over her head and down to her waist before stepping through the other two and tightening them to secure herself before giving the rope a few quick tugs. "Go ahead and tell them I'm ready. I doubt my voice is loud enough for them to hear me." She began to scale the wall, coiling the rope around her upper right arm so she wouldn't tilt if she slipped.

Chase listened as a choice was finally made. It seemed the majority had won out in this case, with the Lioncourt agreeing it needed to be taken out if to at least prove their efforts down here had been worth something. Widget would make a point about it being a container of some sort, and then unnecessary paranoia about microorganisms inside. 'Does not being in the suit make her feel vulnerable?' He silently questioned to himself. He was a paranoid person most times, cautious for sure, but she seemed to be even more so than he at the current moment. The more she had described and spoke of it, the more it had intrigued Chase to want to learn about it. He was an inventor and tinkerer by nature, so learning about objects was always something he wanted. Learning in general was something he enjoyed. As the thoughts raced through his mind, distracting him a little, he would snap out of it as Widget was ready to be pulled up from Yui's signal. The girl wasn't too heavy thankfully, and with Tabbys help lifting her up took very little time since the fall was nothing major. A little bit of strain given all they'd been through, but still nothing over exerting thankfully. Once she was up, he would await for her to be unraveled from the line before tossing it back down to the Lioncourt.

As she began to tie the object up, his thoughts would focus on her for a moment. He was still confused by her calling him Sensui and her seeming almost protective to a degree of him from what had occurred earlier. He knew not why, even if this was the second time he had seen her. The first time had not been...a good chance to even really converse with her when he was forced with so many others. Like now but...now strangely felt much less nerve-wracking. 'Maybe I am getting better?...No, it is the situation.' He thought, first with hope then crashing realization. For most of those here, he had grown a bit of respect for. In particular Tabby, Yui and Ren. The other avian was decidedly not in his good graces after all that had occurred earlier. The others he was undecided. He had so many questions to ask...but they all required actually speaking. How he wished his hound could speak for him instead at times. Once Yui had it secured, telling Ren to be ready in case they needed more gravity dust, Chase would begin his pull. While certainly not quite as easy, Widget having helped out by climbing a bit, they now had three people helping as the Lioncourt hovered nearby and would help push it up as well to make the process even quicker and easier. Chase, as a result, could not fully judge how heavy the object truly was since so much help was given. As it was finally pushed up over the lip of the fall and onto solid ground, Chase would grab onto it directly to pull it towards him and away from the edge with a little help from Tabby and hopefully Yui till it was a good few feet away and relatively safe. Before he could really study it like he desired he felt a pang in his gut as he could smell more keenly the blood from Yui. He started to feel a bit weaker, and looking back at the collapsed tunnel...he was unsure if he could collect any blood from there. He felt torn on the inside...as he did not desire to ask, or for it to be known...but he also didn't want to be a unnecessary burden on everyone by remaining silent.

He winced and took a deep breath before looking to the Lioncourt, speaking softly. "When there...is a chance...may I...ask a favor..of..you...to...allow me...to...take some of your blood...' He would ask meekly, not quite making eye contact as he did so, and speeding up in speech towards the end while also becoming more and more quiet. To the point that even as a faunus she may have to strain to listen. He dutifully moved his face away from her as he finished, eyes focused down at the mysterious item they now had. Trying to distract his mind, he would focus on trying to study the thing as he awaited the response. Mostly to see what could trigger it to open, but it didn't seem to have any conventional way of doing so or that he knew for the time being. Still was a good excuse not to make eye contact though.

Widget was lucky Tabby couldn't hear a thing from above. Widget was being too paranoid, and there was nothing worse than an over paranoid person to ruin the fun! The thing they should worry about the most is getting out of the hole, which from Yui's perspective, the other faunus was ready to do just that. Plus, who knew when the ravagers would find another way to their location? This talking and pausing was time being completely wasted!! Even the simple minded fan girl knew there was no time to actually waste. With all this talk about a betal object too boot, Tabitha could not help but wonder what was taking so long. Metal object? What metal object? It should have all been quite obvious, from all but one confirming it to be brought along, but nothing was getting through to her mind. All that would actually come through was about pulling the object up. "Tabby just wants to see what this metal thingy is!!! Hurry up and grab the rope!!! A lady in a dress pulling rope for too long is bad!!! Pleeeease!? Grab rope somebodyyyy and let us go! Bring it up like a fishy on a hook!!! LEt's bring back that treasure!!!!"

Was the metal edible? The answer should have been an obvious no for sure, and with Ren on the side keeping watch, this could help many yes? If she weren't helping with roe she'd be burying Ren in a smother hug about all he's done so far! He shouldn't feel so bad!!! Chase was in that same vote, now that she had thought about it more! Unknown to the man's current mindset, it was fortunate for him he was bottling it all. Another smother hug would have went his way too. Least to say Tabitha could rid such thoughts, the moment they could finally begin pulling stuff up. First came up Widget, who Tabby had no time to head pat in relief to. Still unknown to the fact it had been Widget who had kept them stalled for time, she could only wave to the Scorpion with a yahoo~! Before the next go round of pulling could commence. Repeating the first option, with dropping the rope down, and back to assisting, as the time drew on for pulling, it was rather clear to the women something was going on with Chase. "Is silent boy alrighty right? Has a booboo he no say anything about!? Don't push too much okay!?" Unaware of the actual problem at hand, once Yui and the metal object had joined them at terrain level, there was no helping from her gathering the rope into a nice, coiled up amount. "Rope all together!!!! huh!?" What was Chase asking Yui for? Within earshot, she had only been able to process the word blood. Curious, Tabby refrained for that moment, more diluting her attention to the object, and guard watching! He was speaking to Yui anywhoo!!! Without a care, nor a say, she just buckled away to take the other side that was left unguarded, choosing for herself to carry half the work of keeping watch. "Got this side mmmmlayyy~!?"

Ren smiled as he got the go ahead for the gravity eclair as he nodded his head at her orders and waited, watching as they pulled Widget up with ease before he moved over to the edge, his fluffy tail wagging with excitement while his ears recovered for him. He slowly backed away with the duo as they got the metal object up and over the lip and soon onto the side. He pouted as he didn't get to use his Gravity Eclair like he wanted, but they had their mission in sight now. He stood up and nodded his head while he looked around to make sure nothing bad was following them. "At least it's up now." He spoke calmly as he opened up another can of beer to pound it as a celebration on the fact they obtained this big metal object thingy. He finished his drink before shaking his head and taking a deep breath in and exhaling slowly. "Now we just need to figure our way out of here." He told them softly as his eyes had narrowed. He was sufficiently buzzed once more, maybe more so as he drank 4 beers. "I'll carry Sakura from here on out." He told Yui as he moved over to the unconscious Sakura and lifted her up, using the fireman carry technique to bring her over his shoulders. The warm liquid in his belly was definitely lighting a fire in him.

XXXEvery word Widget said would be taken into consideration. This relic, whatever it was, was a huge mystery in of itself. She was right, it could've been a container filled with something. The oddity in the shape, the grooves she felt, she understood what Widget was getting at when describing the object. Yui would nod at the thought, knowing the safety measure was a necessary one to take at the risk of what they could encounter. "I believe that's a wise decision. We'll share that thought with the others once we get it up." In all honesty, the more Widget proclaimed the variety of things this could be, it left an itch in the girl that made her felt they were meant to take it back. Each passing moment this object was growing more mysterious, it kindled some odd sense of curiosity or excitement within her, and others she was certain. Perhaps Widget was the only one that had been held up by her overall concern, but the bravery or stupidity of those around her would unfoil any plan she tried to leave it behind. There was no more time to waste. They both knew that, but for some reason Yui felt it in her very core. She felt like she kept the others waiting far too long, even if it had only been a matter of moments. Had she been keeping them waiting through some other means? [Fourth wall break, sorry for the wait. No time is a good time anymore.] Once Widget was ready, Yui would shout up to the others to pull, that Widget was coming up first.

Yui waited patiently at the bottom with the mysterious object, watching as Widget's dim figure grew fainter. It was only a matter of moments before the joint effort of both huntsmen had pulled the girl from their earthen prison, letting the ropes back down to her. She wouldn't waste any time. They had to move, they had to get out of here. Just as she intended to before, she would tie the ropes in various perpendicular fashions in order to get an angle on the several odd grooves this object had. While there was no easy place to grasp it, it was her knotwork that would improvise almost a net-like fashion around the base, giving it enough hold for the others to lift it. "Object secured. On my mark, we lift." Yui announced, spreading her wings out as she curled the fingers of both hands into the various knots, giving herself some leverage on the object. "Pull!" Her voice was stern, her order resonating in a position of command that seemed to come out more and more as the situation continued to reflect with her in a position of power. She had to keep them going, she had to keep them motivated. She had to be their light at the end of the tunnel, even if it meant getting her hands dirtier and dirtier in the process. That's what it meant to lead in this situation, to recover when the situation was looking grim. At her command, she'd flap her wings and begin to pull upwards with them. Whether or not Widget took up a rope to help, it was their combined effort that would lift the object from its forgotten prison. Each flap was straining, but because Chase and Tabby bore most of the lightened load, it was still possible for Yui to fly up with the object, something that she wouldn't have been able to do with Widget in her current state.

Each flap was getting more taxing, but she had to push forward. It was only a few more feet, a couple more hefty grunts. Then finally the mysterious object would roll over the lip of the pit, grounding itself at the feet of the others. Now that the object was out of the pit, Yui would touch down gently at the edge of the pit, putting the brunt of her remaining strength into pushing the object forward. Again, utilizing their combined efforts, even without Ren's gravity eclair, they managed to get the object a number of feet away from the edge. Stationary, settled, safe. It was secured, and Yui would take a well-deserved knee next to the object. She was beaten, it was becoming more clear with every passing moment. Her breathing was taxed, her burns felt as if they were seeping, festering. Some of the burns had split, causing droplets of blood to escape her skin. Everything was sore, everything hurt, but she had to persevere with everyone. At least in this downtime she could focus on rekindling her aura, preparing herself for another volley of fire if it was necessary. Even if her body couldn't keep up, she was certain she had enough juice left in her arsenal to make another bang if it was necessary.

She wasn't the only one near her limit though. There was another her persevered through everything, who helped her overcome all odds when she needed it. Who saved herself and Sakura in the end, an act she was surely indebted to. His voice had gotten so meek. Soft, weakened but strained as if it was difficult to talk. The man she had an inner conflict with, one who she gazed upon and was so terribly reminded of her lost brother. It was getting quieter, faster. If Yui hadn't been so focused, gifted in a selective hearing in an extent to block out the world around her, she would've missed it entirely. A request, a favor. An odd one sure, one that caused her gaze to ponder what it could mean... He needed her blood. For a moment it seemed like she was hesitant, skeptical, as if clueless and wary of what that could incline. But that wasn't the case, not in the slightest. The right corner of her lips curled into a partial smile for a moment as she closed her eyes, nodding to herself. Rising from her kneel, she took a step closer to the man. He'd find her standing beside him, pale blue hues gazing in his direction, but remained facing the object. He was uncertain about his request, perhaps because of its initial obscurity, but who was she to reject it? He trusted her when she needed him, he helped convince the others to lift the object with her, he saved her, he helped save all of them. She trusted him, and she was happy to oblige. "Whatever you need, however you need to." She wasn't quite sure how he intended to extract it from her. Even if it meant making a new wound, though, she was willing. Carefully she slid off her right long glove. Her forearm was lined with various small scars, some of which were circular burns. They stretched up to the burned sleeve of her arm, detailed her the fresh burns from her most recent display of fire. It was there that the skin had been strained once again, leaving droplets of blood to trickle. "Consider it to be part of my thanks." Whatever he needed to do, she would let him.

After whatever occurred in that moment, Yui's attention was delighted to be on Ren again. Who, after all they've been through, had become a more positive light in her life that inspired her with new hope, though sometimes she had her regrets with the drunken lad. On this mission in particular though, she had grown to appreciate him more than ever. She had learned just how much the rabbit meant to her, and how important he was to their team. So she was relieved that he was ready to take the intiative again and carry Sakura, something that she just didn't have in her anymore. "Thank you, Ren.. I know she'll be save with you." Really though, she felt like if she took care of Sakura any longer that she'd roast the poor girl alive. After all, she nearly did that to herself with her own abilities. Shifting her attention back to the object, her now ungloved fingers would reach to gently stroke the smooth metal, gliding against one of the grooves. "So... Now that we have it, what do you make of it?" She asked softly, a hint of curiousity present in her tone, but uncertain all the same. She wanted their opinions now, since it was no longer just herself and Widget stuck with the mysterious relic. Panning away from the object, she'd look at who remained just as spry as before. They had a goal they needed to accomplish. "We can either continue to investigate this and attempt to crack its mystery now, or focus on finding a route back to the main cavern. This detour is giving us some time to recover, but we can't risk falling behind much further. If those explosions separated us and disturbed the grimm, I find myself dreading what could be ahead with the others. I believe the most important course of action is locating the other teams and seeing if they need our assistance, then we can finally see this through to the end. "

Widget clambered over the lip of the pit, righting her goggles just before due to the lamp and grabbed onto the first person she could to help as her foot slipped on some loose rubble. Fortunately, with two people holding the rope and her being so light, the reaction didn't pull anyone towards the pit. She slipped out of the rope, her tail slipping back under her shirt. Kinda pointless as everyone had no doubt seen it, but, she felt more comfortable with it out of sight. While the others started pulling the thing out, she made her way over to Skylar and checked on her, tending her the best she could with their available supplies. She then pulled out her gas mask and checked it just to be sure. Looking up, she saw Yui talking and gesturing towards the item after offering her arm to one of the guys. She waited until her mouth stopped moving before speaking up. "If she covered it already, sorry for repeating it. But, I can't hear anything right now. That collapse blew out my hearing. I'm pretty sure it's some kind of container and air-tight at that. Seeing as we know very little about it, I'd suggest keeping your masks at the ready in case it has something airborne or toxic inside it. Especially if you all are too curious to wait to examine it."

Skylar had been sitting against the wall, eyes closed and trying to settle herself. After a few minutes, the dizziness was starting to finally dissipate, but, as it did, a headache started settling in. She could hear the others, but, only passively listened. She could make out the general topic, but, specifics she wasn't focusing on. They found something apparently and were preparing to lift it and Widget up. She didn't open her eyes until she felt a small pair of hands working on her head and wing, bandaging them. She dug through her own med kit and hoped there might be some painkillers. When Widget spoke up, Skylar refocussed on matter at hand. "I ain't tryin ta tell ya guys what ta do, but, I ain't exactly in any shape ta risk somethin. Yui an' Chase ain't either. An' then ya got that girl he's carrin'. Also...I jus' wanna 'pologize fer back there...I...I ain't really been inna fight before...I-I weren't thinking...I'm really sorry..."

Chase has almost smiled earlier with how child-like Tabby could be, despite his own fear of that if directed at him. She had wanted them to hurry in regards to pulling the object up, and seemed all too excited by the prospect of treasure earlier though now...he wanted to hide his face a little. It seemed she had caught on something was up with him, as he had failed to truly hide it well in his focus on others matters. She would ask if he was alright, wounded, and to take it easy. Embarrassed, he smiled weakly and shook his head at first before nodding about taking it easy. It was going to be embarrassing enough to ask the Lioncourt, let alone letting Tabby know as well what was wrong. She would be coiling rope as he would would be making his request, though thankfully she didn't seem to question it...but may have noticed. He wasn't sure, his head was down as he almost wanted to bury himself. He felt some relief though as she would go away and say she was going to guard. Having less people around was much more preferred to being crowded in most circumstances, but now especially so. Even if he felt like he had felt as such very often. There was a short pause after his request, making Chase feel all the worse about asking about it in the first place. 'She shall reject it, as any sensible person would. I scarcely know her yet I ask for blood...What she must think of me...' He despaired to himself, trying to keep it in his mind without revealing it. He was tempted to pretend it was all some joke and renege his quest to avoid any uncomfortable.

He would see her rise from her kneel, assuming ti meant she was going to move away from him. Not that he could blame her in the slightest, he was expecting it for the most part, and was upset at himself for even making the request. However...he was caught off guard as his downward eyes noticed her step towards him. He was confused, mind negative, and thinking perhaps he could have offended her and she would seek retribution perhaps? But there was now doubt in his despair, a gleam of hope that perhaps...he hadn't ruined things. Slowly, crimson eyes would rise to see her still besides him, pale blue eyes in his direction but she remained facing the mysterious object. She would then speak...and grant his request... 'Why...' Chase felt like asking, but held his tongue. She would carefully slide off her long glove, showing off an arm lined with cuts and burns. He almost felt bad seeing it...and she would say to consider this her thanks. He looked up to her, thankful for a moment, before his crimson eyes would drop back to her arm. Seeing a source of blood, if very small. He would focus on it...and blood would replicate as he used his semblance. A small stream of blood would from from the cut, travel along her arm...As Chase would look up to her once more to make sure he had consent before he would lightly bring his lips to it, taking in the stream of crimson into his body. Very quickly, he would begin to feel rejuvenated as he fed on the blood. It would take less than a minute for him to complete his feed, as he would slowly move his lips away from her arm and wipe the corner of them to remove the blood. It was an unfortunate cost of his semblance...but he was glad he found someone who allowed him, and trusted him. He wasn't quite sure hot to feel except gratitude...

...He would kneel down to dig into his bag to retrieve his medical kit as the other would begin to discuss things. The rabbit would mention they needed a way out and that he would carry Sakura, the other girl he tried to save. Chase would also hear widget chime in on dangers of the device, now seeming to believe it would contain an airborne toxin. While Chase found that highly unlikely, he would still place his mask on for safety regardless. In case they ran into any harmful gas or something later from the cave itself. The avian that had almost crippled them would also speak, offering an apology. While also talking about risk about something, and that the Lioncourt and he weren't in any shape to do anything. Which he disagreed with now that he had blood to sustain himself, and was feeling much better as a result. He also was not accepting an apology from her for the time being. A mistake like that had the potential to cost them their lives. It had forced him to shoot her, even if he had missed. And if this were her first time in a fight, he wondered how she had joined a school meant for people to fight grimm. He had assumed the school would have screened those who entered for such things. He had been fighting them since young, even if not successfully.

All through this though he was going through his med kit, repeating symptoms in his head and potential remedies while comparing it to present supplies. He gave the detrimental avian no more mind, as in his mind she did not deserve treatment as of yet. Which may be seen as cruel, even to himself, but he was prioritizing someone who he knew he could depend on. The only other that seemed particularly hurt at present but could fight. He had a small smile to himself once he was satisfied, shortly after the Lioncourt would ask what everyone made of the object and how to proceed. He would close his medical kit and rise, having made a cool compress during the time there. The cuts itself were minor, and would not take long to heal. The burns though may be more persistent, so that was what his mind had prioritized. If allowed, he would wrap where most of the burns were on the Lioncourts arm and secure it there. Hoping it would bring her some relief as her aura would help with recovery itself. He would then look down to the object, to her, everyone...then the only way forward. "We should...find a way out of here first. We can always...try to open the object later, and have help too." Chase would answer, slowly gaining more confidence as he spoke. He had agreed with the Lioncourt on moving on, if not for the exact same reasons as her. He also didn't mention it was partially influenced by the fact he saw no real way to open the object as of this time. He was hoping once back up, they would have more resources to figure out how to. He would hear Ren and Tabby both agree they should proceed onward, while Widget and the detrimental avian would offer no words on moving on for the most part.

Seeing it as a majority, Chase would whistle for his hound to go forward (not too much) to help scout ahead of them. Then his eyes would move to his...friend, Tabby. "Will you please help me...with this?" He would ask, perfectly understanding if she would say no. Thankfully, she said yes. He was glad to have Tabby and the Lioncourt alongside him, along with the rabbit. He would work with her to have it balanced between the two of them, and one they seemed to have it balanced between, he would speak again a bit more confidently. "Lets...Move out. The longer we stay...the more at risk we are. Ren...may I have your aid...With the gravity dust?" He would say at first a bit confidently, though losing a bit of the confidence as he asked Ren for some of his gravity dust to help. While he thought perhaps he and Tabby could manage, the gravity dust would make this much much easier and leave them with energy to fight if needed. Thankfully he would agree...And Chase would waste no time as he would move on with Tabby once Ren helped with the gravity dust. Not moving too fast and being careful, but progress was being made nonetheless. He would begin to feel a breeze, a good sign this way led to the surface somehow, and a gentle whistle as they followed the path. Apparently it was left leaning, but was definitely gaining in elevation. The last thing he wanted was for the path to go deeper down after all, even if this was made by Grimm. He hoped the others would be keeping a good watch, along with his hound, as he was mostly focused on carrying the object.

『Inƚo ƚhҽ Đαɾƙnҽss – Ȼoɭɭαρsҽ Sƚαɠҽ Two』

◈▣◈▣◈

The team would successfully hoist the object up with joint efforts. The object was rather large and unwieldy, but between two people could be carried fairly easily. Albeit, uncomfortable.

Chase and Tabby would feel its cold and smooth surfaces bumping into them with each step. It was light considering its size. A strange and foreign object it was. The gravity dust that Ren was applying to it greatly reduced the stress of the load. Causing them to travel as a very normal rate.

Chase's hound would scout ahead, but signal no alarm. The cool breeze of the cavern would increase as they made their way through the cavern system. The incline was getting steeper as they went.

The troop would continue for a long time. Their legs getting tired from the hike. It felt as if the cave would never end. No creeps could be seen though. A screech from a ravager far off would be heard every now and then, but its location too far away to ascertain with ease. Eventually they would all see something. A flickering light. Up ahead, beyond a final turn, there was a small hole with a cloth flickering back and forth in the wind. Beyond it could be seen flashes of the blue sky! They had reached the surface!

[Break through the pile of rocks and exit, you can post in this topic the whole way and even when you reach the small military base of operation.]

Beyond the pile of rocks and boulders is what appears to be a forest in the outskirts of Vale. A small cliff hidden by the trees. This must be some distance away from the site of the chasm, but close to Vale nonetheless. The trees never seemed to alive. Their canopy of leaves dancing in the wind as the dying light flitted through them gently.

[Congratulations, please add to your profile thread that you completed:

                                                          out. of. choices.

XXXIt was such an odd sensation. It felt similar to when she took his hand. Feeling the warm liquid both coat and move along her skin. This time it was a smaller amount, more controlled, but was being drawn from the wound itself. She could feel the blood being drawn from the prior incisions in her skin. Her pale blue gaze met that of crimson once again, offering the man a nod. He was hesitant, seeking further confirmation that it was truly okay for him to do what he needed to do. If it would keep him on his feet a little longer, then she wanted nothing more than to help him get to that place. After everything he had done for her, after everything that they've been through. He of all people deserved a second chance to keep coming. Yui found her mind wandering to a few stray thoughts. How did he come to discover this need for his semblance? How did he overcome this issue if there wasn't a willing contributor that was there to aid him? Did he often get pushed to such a limit that he'd need to ingest the blood of another? ... And how sanitary was it, as well? There were a variety of questions that stemmed from the sole use of this semblance, something that continued to raise wonder and curiosity. A thirst for knowledge that stemmed from the time that she spent with her dearest teacher, Professor Schuer. Both understanding a semblance, as well as its strengths and weaknesses. It was these thoughts that kept her distracted in the passing seconds that were needed for him to... Get his fill. It was indicated when she felt his lips leave her skin, the blood stopped being drawn from her arm. "I hope this helps..." She said softly, offering the man a small, but reassuring smile. It was odd, but she did not regret her offer to aid. In fact, despite the strangeness of it, she was happy she could contribute in some way. They had aided each other so much already.

Her hand instinctively went to cover the freshest of wounds, the one that continued to trickle with droplets of blood. It didn't occur to her that her sleeve had been stained, the gloves coated in coaglated fluid. Her gaze fell on the object again, listening to Widget's voice rise. Fortunately Widget picked up where Yui had slipped. In Yui's defense, there was a lot going on, so focusing on Chase's request and the object came first before anything else. Uncertain about the possibility of the airborne virus, she still would rather be safe than sorry at her warning. She'd carefully wipe her bloodied digets on her skirt, then draw the mask over her mouth. Restricted breathing, certainly, but it was better than inhaling any toxins that could be in the air. Skylar would then speak up, though Yui still held a sense of resentment against the fellow avian. Sure, that never did anyone could, but she also couldn't shrug off the prior actions. She also went on further to claim that she was certain they weren't in any shape to continue much more, something that may have been creeping up, but wasn't entirely true yet. "I still have it in me to stand, so I can continue to give it my all to ensure we get through." While she wasn't entirely intending to dismiss the condition of everyone, she wanted to reassure that she wasn't on her last legs yet, even if she was getting there. Shaking her head, she broke her gaze from the object, focusing on Skylar for a moment. "We'll submit a proper report to the academy about it. I understand the apology, but sometimes it comes too close. It might be a while before another mission is selected, but we can use that time to over come those ... short comings." This really wasn't her position to talk in, not when Sakura was the leader. She had every intention to submit a report, however. Even if she had never been in a fight before, though that doesn't make sense for a combat-related school, she should still understand the fundamentals of her own semblance. Sound richocetes when enclosed, thus amplifying its capability.

It became soon clear to the avian what Chase was doing while knealing. It was an assortment of medical supplies, pulling out wrapping material as well as a few other odds and ends. It was a kind gesture on his behalf, and one that she would happily take in return. Aid for an aid. Chase was really the first to voice an opinion of what they should do, but it was a testimate that she could agree to. Move forward, find safety, then they could try cracking the mystery in a more controlled enviornment, with aid. To that, she'd nod in agreement, as other seemed to agree with this motion as well. With the shrill of a whistle, the hound would move forward. If the hound was taking the frontlines, followed by Chase and Tabby lifting the object, then Yui would move forward as well. The last thing they needed was the two with their hands tied to encounter the first grimm in this narrow cavern. Drawing her bow from her back as well as an arrow prepped, she'd move forward behind the hound. OF course, she'd wait to make sure that everyone else was moving. She was certain that Ren was eager to provide more assistance with that eclair of his, while also carrying Sakura behind them. With everyone prepared, they'd begin moving forward.

The air wasn't stagnent like the rest of the cave had been. It was cool, a breeze carried along with the faint whistle of wind. IT meant there was an opening to the outside, somewhere along this path. The walls were curved, guiding the students leftward bound, but upwards. It wasn't like they had any other option than forward, so it was relieving that it appeared so promising. Honestly, it felt as if this upward hike would never end. Fighting had been exhausting enough, but trecking through darkness had its own tiresome attributes. At one point, Yui heard a ravager. With her bow readied, she stopped and aimed, ready to strike it down. ... Except it was too distant. Fortunate for them, fortunate for it. IT would live to see another day, confined in this cave. So together they'd continue to press on, until she saw something that seemed so foreign. It was light. Not from her fire, not from a flashlight. It was sunlight, flaring in every few moments with the flailing cloth continuing to uncover and conceal it. "Light... Everyone, I think.. We made it." Yui remained cautious, looking back and forth before hastening her speed towards the hole. Beyond the cloth she could see the vibrant blue sky, something that she longed to soar through once more after spending so much time underground. ... She was getting pumped, excited that it was coming to an end. Putting away her bow, one of her rings would illuminate a bright blue. "Shield your eyes, it's about to get a lot brighter." With a flicker of blue, the ring on her right index would release embers to create a large axe with an extended handle. Stepping back, Yui raised the weapon to strike the pile of stone, wedging the aura enforced weapon between the stones then anchoring her weight on it. With a hefty push, she'd lodge several stones loose, causing the pile of stones to collapse out from the cave, unleashing a blinding ray of light into the cavern. This made the hole much larger and passable for the students to get through. Hopefully Widget wasn't left as blind as she was deaf after that.

Cautiously, Yui would proceed out of the cave, poking her head out to get a thorough examination of their surroundings. They were emerging from a pile of rocks along a small cliffside, facing a forest in some of the farther outreaches of vale. ... The trees seemed so still, nothing hidden among them. Nothing stirred, aside from the wind that carried a series of leaves to dance with them. Stepping back, Yui motioned for the others to follow. "It's clear. We've still got a bit of sunlight... It looks like we're quite a ways from the excavation site, but, it shouldn't be too difficult to get back to from here." With her words, she was ready to offer assistance to those carrying the object to lift it out of the cave, and then back to the site. Surely that was the first place they should go, where it all started. Though, there were some questions that rang in the back of the girl's mind. IF this is where their cave ended, then... What about the others? The other half of their squad, and those of the Omega squad? Another one was, there was a cloth at the end of their tunnel .. Did that mean that someone had been here before? The initial excavation crew, or was it a coincidence?

TEAM: NTSS
WEAPON/PROFILE: Stabby, Jabby, and Tabby~!
AMMO: x2 lightning dust loaded in both harpoons (one was used in Stabby)
Tabby is at this place!!!!: Cavern
Tabby is with this person!!!!: team friends and another team of possible new friends!
Tabby is doing this!!!!: helping~!
OOC:
////////////////////////////

Hup two~! Hup two! Hup, hup, hup! Strenuous as time had passed, everyone could be accounted for safely, aside from the unconscious Sakura at the end of it all. With all accounted for, and an object securely brought up, moving on could finally happen. Tabitha was all more than willing to help the rest of the way anyway she were able with the object, all too eagerly saying yes. All the more better than to be standing on the side being boring!! The ever wondering answer from before about Chase's change of air had come to pass for a positive result it would seem to her, rather surprised it had to do with blood. The condition of Yui's had her the whole moment wanting to jump out and smother her in a get well soon hug, not knowing there was more to her arm than she would ever know. As for Skylar, the apology had fallen on complete deaf ears, the tension of wanting to go on ahead and focusing on the mission overtaking all other priorities. There was no need to apologize as it was, considering there was probably 3/4s of them who have never been on a mission, or have fought. Once Yui had the first aid applied to her, Tabitha had done a silent head check. Lady bird wing one! First aided an checked! Bird lady two! bloody head but ooookay! Widgey, Whining about the object and too paranoid but oooookay check! Mutey boyo and poochie, all set! Bunny bun! Check!!! Unconscious stranger human lady! Ooookay, but needs to wake up! This was all of us... Wait!!! Tabby! Check!! Stabby!! Here and sharp! Jabby!! Here and pointy!!! NOW!!! All set. Time to move and move that shall be done!

What a long trek it had concluded on their way out of the cave. No grimm in sight to stab, and no abnormalities to conclude serving around the terrain. Even she was getting all too excited about the "treasure," having her own mask on in order to keep her annoyance by the over cautiousness in hiding. Ren's gravity majiggy {As she referred to dust as,} made a lot of the walk out a lot more easier. Good bunny bun~!!! Carrying the sleepy hooman and helping with majiggys!!! They just want to go and they certainly couuuuld at long last~! Go, go, go~! All along the way there was no stopping the chatty woman from speaking anything. Was it some Disney movie she had in her head to keep her going along though of all things? Of course it had to of been, by the small amount of muffled singing behind her mask. Not just one, but a bunch she could only retain small lyric bits towards. It was all in order to keep herself from dropping the object for whatever reason on her comrade. Had to love the distractioning mind of a crazed fangirl of love!!
"Steady as a beating drum,
hup, two! hup, two!
with all the strength of a raging fire~!
Pick it up, two! hup, two! Hut!
How far will I go~!
Hup two hup two hup hup hup hup~!"

The power of teamwork leading them to the victory of sunlight~. Closing her eyes to the first pouring of it, there had to be a small amount of time to adjust to the sudden brightness. It was merely a small bit peeking through rock, which had been cured by Yui's assistance upon breaking them open a larger exit! "EEEEEE~!!!!! Direct hit! Pew pew!" Though muffled, there was no hiding the pitch of excitedness in Tabitha's tone. How she had felt like they were in that cave forever! What a rush! Heart pumping adrenaline and constant head rotation for danger with teamwork lifting!! Girl needed a massage once home they would return to. A well deserved treat! The moment Yui had yelled it was clear, the woman had practically began rushing for that exit, forgetting Chase was on the other end of the object pulling. Much like a sled dog in a hyper state of pulling. "The exit the exit!! Birdy lady please guide us out!!" OH! WAit... "Sorrrrrrry~!!!!! Tabby got excited!" Finally remembering Chase was helping her, she forced herself to calm down, her bubbly energy practically showing at the tips of her footwear, by the twitching at the toes.

Widget could smell the air getting less stale as she followed the rest forward. She had her mask at the ready and stayed behind the two transporting the object so she could keep it in sight. Though, she wasn't at the rear as she couldn't hear/ Soon though, the path began to rise and she sensed the change in lighting before the others and adjusted her goggles. She wasn't sure how much they'd help though considering she'd worn them pretty much the entire time in the caves/ This was confirmed a little while later as she started suffering eye pain the closer they got to the exit. SHe simply stopped walking, hanging back in the shadows as the rest stepped out into the sunlight and began talking. Meanwhile, she'd pulled her scroll out to find signal and sent a text summary to the contact they'd been given for the mission, followed by a request for a pickup on her scroll's coordinates as they had an unknown vessel and some unconscious and injured. She waited a moment for a break in the discussion before speaking herself. "I can't see...it's too bright out here..even with my goggles. But, I sent a report and request for extraction so we don't have to lug around this thing and we can rest."

Skylar had gone quiet when Yui said she'd be reporting her actions. God this was humiliating. She wished her semblance would just let her turn invisible. It was a stupid mistake, she knew that, and could have caused much worse issues than it had. She couldn't blame Yui for reporting it. All she could hope for was that she'd get effectively a warning given it was her first combat and then watched. It was a mistake. A reckless one yeah, but, still a mistake. And it hadn't gone terribly wrong. It just could have and she recognized that. Hopefully she wouldn't be kicked out. It was definitely a mistake she wasn't going to repeat. As they found their way up, she took up the rear, feeling completely isolated from the others. They were pissed at her. She could feel it. And, truth be told, she kinda expected that if something were to happen, most of them would have just left her behind. Eventually, they made it to the surface and she simply sat down after passing Widget who informed them she'd contacted command and asked for a pickup. Still, she remained quiet.
