The sun rose, and the morning ritual began.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

A hand snaked out from underneath blankets, slapping around blindly until it hit the snooze button.
Fifteen more wonderful minutes of blissful sleep.

Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep.

That...that wasn't fifteen minutes.
And that wasn't his alarm.
The blankets were pulled down just enough for groggy red eyes to peer around the room. He didn't have to peer far, though, for a round and blue object was sitting on his feet. Staring at him.

That was creepy.

The little hands sprouting from it's head grasped at the air absently, weight shifting from one pointy foot to the other as it stared at Lind expectantly. And then it opened it's pointy mouth. And beeped. Loudly.

Silence fell over the room again as it's mouth closed and the two stared at each other, one expecting something and the other still half asleep and not knowing what the hell was going on. Blue eyes glanced over at the door and then back at Lind, back and forth, multiple tails thumping against the sheets, hands grasping, weight shifting.

"....d'you want to go on a walk?" he asked incredulously, tiredness slurring his words. The amount of furious beeping would suggest that he hit the nail on the head.

"'Lright, 'lright, 'M comin'." he mumbled, trying to untangle himself from the sheets. It was slow going, and the thing never shut up.

And then his alarm went off again.

BEEP BEEPBEEP BEEP BEEPBEEP BEEP BEEPBEEP BEEP BEEPBEEP BEEP.

Meetings in the park...

eeting with some of the younger generation.
With some potential bad side effects, maybe.

Lost in a mall.

Sometimes you just gotta help.
And possibly ignore how sketchy that situation can look like.

Prompt Think Tank
It is the holidays. What do you do to celebrate? How does your Herald react? Do you have to explain much detail? Does something go wrong; if so, how do you and your Herald handle the situation?

Christmas.
The holiday he had (up until now) spent with his family, due to the fact that he had lived with them up until now. But now...now he had his own place. And well, yes, he would be going back home for Christmas, but still. He has his own place. It needs...dunno. Decorations. A tree?
Lights?
Candles?
Fake snow everywhere?
Real snow everywhere?
Who knows. Who knows. Lind certainly doesn't. True, he could get himself an actual tree and get lights and ornaments and only see it briefly each day and not really have any presents to put under it that aren't from himself.
He could get a fake one. Wouldn't have to worry about watering it and having it shed, and it would certainly be smaller than a real one. He could even be lazy and get a pre-decorated one.
However, all of these ideas had one basic flaw. Money. Granted, he wasn't poor or starving, he was just saving much of it for....something. He wasn't quite sure. A good chunk of his paychecks were put into rent and food, and at least half of what was left was put into his savings account. The rest was purely spending money, which he usually used most of when he went out with his friends, which he doesn't do very often lately.
As you can see, there isn't much left for a Christmas tree.
So. Thrifty decorations, then. Well. Lights were pretty cheap, and if he asked nicely could probably borrow a few extra ornaments from Subo... Wheels began turning in his head as he got ready for work, and by the time he had gotten back home, an idea had been formulated.
All it took was a handful of thumbtacks and a strand of lights that were tacked to the wall in a zig-zag, vaguely tree like shape.
Voila.
Instant tree!
Which...will probably be there for a long time, as he would probably forget to take them down.

Of course, a few days later he didn't have to worry about taking it down, as the small blue creature decided to try and climb it and tore it all down.

It was as if he was there, but at the same time was watching from a distance. It was something familiar. Something he had done before. A dream he had had when he was younger. He didn't know.
What he did know, though, was the sense of familiarity that wound deep down in its core. The calling of duty that pulled him along, whether it wanted to or not. A call so strong that it narrowed down its vision to one point, blocking out the surrounding areas, a focus so narrow that it didn't notice the two armies facing each other.
No, its attention was on one person, a man who didn't stand out particularly much from his fellows. Regardless, it drifted down, bits of white down already beginning to fall off his wings.

It was behind him. Pale, slender hands were placed upon his shoulders. A mouth whispered words that no one could hear into his ear.
"They are coming."
The man showed no sign that he heard. But he slowly drew his bow and pulled an arrow out of his quiver.
"Do it now."
A gust of wind blew, wind that rustled no clothing, blew no bits of dirt into the air. Wind that swept up the lone, pale figure, tossing it into the air, up and away from the crowd. The wind grew stronger, stripping feathers more quickly off of wings, sending the small and frail looking body tumbling through the air. The last thing it saw as its vision got blurry was the man as he aimed and fired his bow. The arrow flew true and straight, and it could only watch as it grew closer.
The wind picked up again as it passed through him, leaving nothing but the feel of a blow as it struck it's intended target.

And then it fell.

And with the sensation of having just fallen into bed, Lind woke with a jerk.
Eyes hastily scanned the room, almost convinced that he would see himself in a forest clearing blurred by heavy rain. No, no. He was in bed. At home. All was good. Hands rubbed at his face as he stared blearily at the clock. Also way too early. But he knew he wouldn't be getting back to sleep.

He hadn't had that dream in, what, years? Had almost forgotten about it.
(NOT QUITE DONE YET?)
